Love this store! Nice coffee roaster and lots of natural plant based powders. Polish woman working here made it special as well. Looking forward to coming back and enjoying as many offerings as I can.

Germack has a very classical coffee shop vibe. Lots of old wood, coffee paraphernalia on numerous shelves, and a nice long bar. There’s a window into their roaster in the back next to large sacks of coffee; always a nice touch. The atmosphere makes it a place I would love to come for a coffee and to sit and read or write. The lattes have been well crafted and you can’t beat the location right next to Eastern Market. I’ll be visiting regularly as long as I live in Detroit!

Just got 2 iced coffees, 1 was sooo sweet it was hard to drink and the other cold brew tasted like vinegar. Both were pretty bad, but an overall cute spot. Appreciate the sustainability effort with paper straws.

My husband and I had a macchiato and a latte. Both drinks were great. The blueberry crumb cake was so good we bought another piece! The staff was also very friendly and engaging. Im glad we stumbled across this place while traveling. If we are in the area again we will be back.

My barista, yoing & enthusiastic, was so friendly and knowledgeable - Ive been visiting all the coffee spots in town & this is the first where I felt really welcome. Great beans, great service, and prices arent jacked up for hipsters. I mean, Avalon charges an extra buck fifty if you want cream. Come on! Ill be spending my coffee $ here for now, thanks

I love both the coffee and the spices at Germack. My favorite drink is the Chai, hot or iced and all of their spices are top notch. Oh, Germack also has their own brand of high-quality, delicious trail mix varieties too. Put this place on your list of one of the top places to visit in Detroit!

My nephew took me here he knows I love delicious coffee and it was very good. I had a nice time. The people making the coffee helped me have a couple of the selections and I enjoyed that.

I buy most of my spices and loose leaf tea here. Love their coffee as well. Great place to grab a consumable gift, whether its from the coffee/tea side or the nuts and candy side. And although Im typically a black coffee drinker, I cant help but get a chili Mexican whenever Im here. Theyre doing a great job keeping everyone safe during the pandemic as well.

A lovely spot for GREAT coffee (to drink or beans to brew at home or the office), in the heart of the Eastern Market.

There are so many choices, it might take a while to navigate the store, but it is definitely worth the effort. Fresh prepared items, very clever to have 2 separate entrances, one for coffee items, and one for the variety of nuts available.

This coffee houses roasts their own beans. It is a great place to visit after being in the hectic market. The servers are knowledgeable about coffee too and very pleasant if you ask for recommendations. Pastries and cookies are available too. Lots of local food items like syrup and sauces. It really has a zen like quality

We stopped in to get some whole bean coffee and ended up with Bike Lane after a little helpful advice. Cant wait to try it. Prices are reasonable and theres a sweet spot of enough blend choices without being overwhelming. After reading reviews, I see more I need to check out.

Love this place

Germack is an excellent neighborhood coffee shop, but also so much more. They have an incredible selection of loose teas that is sure to have something for everyone. They roast their own line of coffees and have roasted for some other local places, as well, such as Baobab Fare. Nice people, great service, and right in the heart of Eastern Market, whats not to love?

I have never been able to get past the grassy taste of Matcha. It literally made me feel like a goat. But then I tried Germack’s Iced Matcha Latte w/ Oat milk and honey. Boyyyy oh boy. I stopped feeling like a goat.

The quality of the coffee they make isnt the best. It tastes a little old and rancid. Their selection if purchasable teas is very large though.

The coffee is amazing. Really great taste and interesting coffee specials. We love going to Germack before walking around Eastern Market. Maybe it’s because we go early in the morning, but some of the staff seem sleepy and less than enthusiastic. It would be nice to be greeted with a smiling face when walking in the door, but the coffee is too good to not grab a cup. As someone who works in the sales, I know that great customer service makes the difference.I do appreciate that they recycle and use compostable products.

It has become an almost weekly visit. The scones are fabulous and coffee is excellent! I enjoy looking at the other products they sell too

Ok...I am a truck driver. My day started super early. I was sitting around waiting on wolverine packaging to get me unloaded. I will say that this was definitely a nice find. I got the iced mocha. I do tend to be fairly picky with my coffee when I actually have the option to be. But so far other than my coffee shop at home...this is the best one Ive had on the road. Price was reasonable. I do have to say I got a friendly greeting from the employees. I will definitely keep this as one of my personal go to spots for when Im in the area again.

Best place to purchase fresh roasted coffee beans. Like roasted yesterday. An awesome place to sit and chat or just pop in to get what you need. Cool building, nice vibe. The tea (dry) selection will amaze.

RedLip. Germack invented red pistachios. Did you know that? A Detroit based business that has been around since 1925, first started adding red color to pistachios, a nut that people back then were unfamiliar with. I went here for coffee, though and really liked the place. Great coffee, friendly people and right across from Eastern Market Shed 2.

I love coffee. Have sampled MANY coffees over my 57 years and the Germack Espresso and Americano is hands down THE best coffee in Detroit. I buy their Ambassador roasted beans to grind and brew in my own coffee machine at home.

Best place to get coffee in Eastern Market and the downtown Detroit area. Close proximity to the sheds makes this the perfect place to grab a cup of Joe and wander through the market to feast on perogis or swarma.

Looking for the spices needed for a leg of lamb. Cardamom pods, peppercorns, cummin seeds and cinnamon sticks. Everything needed and fairly priced. Do yourself a favor and grab a coffee.

Incredible place for coffee and tea. A wide variety to chose from and always fresh. A Detroit original, they are much more than just the peanuts you get at tigers games!

Welcoming and open atmosphere. Lots of variety with friendly staff. My lychee ice tea was so flavorful it didnt need sweetener, and I *never* go without sugar!

I wont get my spices from anywhere else! The quality of the spices (and tea!) are top notch and they have a huge selection. The coffee is also excellent and I love the Chili Mocha! The staff are very nice, helpful, and always make me smile by remembering me :)

Germack is a great little coffee place to stop by in Eastern Market. Parking is free and there are usually some spots open during the week. On Saturdays that is not true and parking is packed for the Saturday market.The coffee is pretty good, the selection of teas and spices are great. They also have coffee and tea related gadgets.If you want to get a coffee and sit in there to work, the chairs are terrible. Im not sure if they are trying to get people to not hang around, but those chairs are a good way to do it. Internet is always working and is pretty decent too.

I happened to be in the city. So, I decided to stop here and get a four shot cappuccino. When I asked for Splenda or Nutrasweet the clerk went into some free-range organic hipster nonsense about the wonders of stevia (which has a vile chemical taste.) He then, rather nastily declared that was the only low-glycemic sweetener that they carry. When I objected, he suggested, honey. Honey is almost pure sugar, the rest being bacteria spores. Naturally, I left the $5 ($5 several years ago) cappuccino sitting there and returned to Berkley post haste. That was my first, and last, experience with Germack.

Everything is so good and the staff is pretty laid back and willing to answer whatever questions you may have without making you feel like an idiot.The atmosphere is like any other coffee/tea place. Relaxed, a nice place to quickly meet up with friends/clients, and study/get work done. It is on the small side so not ideal for super large groups.I always recommend going if youre in the Eastern Market area. I do wish they stayed open a bit later though.
