Great store! I prefer Academy over some of the other larger sporting goods stores. They have lower prices on guns compared to the local big fish store. On our last visit, an employee named Zach was super helpful. He helped my wife find her show size in the style she was looking for. At checkout, our cashier helped us get a discount too! Very cool!

We purchased a $799.99 60 inch goal .. Got home an next morning begin installing base/pole in concrete.. Once set we started to install an found out they gave us 72 inch goal post,so none of the 60 inch goal parts will fit.. I called the store talked to manager on duty, Joshua, explained everything an he said bring back what you can an we will make it right for you... Gave us the 72 inch goal an 50 bucks back for time an gas..Let me say this, I drove to that store 40 minutes away, which Hammond store is 10 minutes from my house because of how nice an friendly this Academy is.. Even the employees very respectful an apologized for everything..You think your local Walmart wouldve done that,give you 50 bucks back an upgrade u to a $2000 dollar goal.. I shopped at two Walmarts plus Cabelas for a pistol style pellet gun for the extremely aggressive eight raccoons trying to get in my door for cat food. Academy had what I needed at an acceptable price. Robert and another nice lady in the gun department were very helpful answering questions regarding my needs for this varmint control to protect my pets.

I love shopping at Academy. Great staff and management. Take the ride out to Juban Crossing just off the interstate in Walker.

I went into the store looking for a pair of shoes that the website said were in stock. 30 minutes of wandering around the shoe department and having asked all three employees in the department for help to answers of “we don’t have time to help you “ and I’m leaving empty handed. If your store can’t do better than this I’ll bring my business to your closest competitor cause you don’t deserve my business.

Normally, Academy stores are well maintained and organized. Today, I went to the one in Denham Springs and found that the inventory listed as “available for store pickup” online was not available at the actual store. When I did decide to buy some tables, the associate nearby told me he would get a cart to wheel them to the front. I waited 10 minutes and he did not return, so I carried the large tables to the front of the store by hand only to find that none of the checkout lanes were occupied. I went to customer service and only then did they call someone to help with the growing line at the checkout. Now I’m tired, frustrated and still don’t have all the items I needed from them.

Found what I needed but was a little distracted by the anti 😷 customers. Even though signs are posted. The store entrance always looks like it needs to be swept and the restrooms werent that clean. Toilet tissue needs to be restocked. This location is just not kept as clean as the rest. Ive been in two within the last week looking for shorts.. The cashier that checked me out was nice.

Nice clean store! Helpful staff. The gun counter guy Robert I think his name is was awesome! That guy knows his guns and is a certified firearms instructor and ccw instructor! Great person to have working there!

The worst academy sports store I’ve ever been in! Products scattered on the floor in every department. No price tags on many items and the scanners on the isles for so called convenience do not work. Can’t find any employees. Only one person at the register and one at customer service. Many other people standing in line.

Merchandise over priced not very customer friendly

A great variety of hunting and fishing clothes as well as bathing suit’s, shoes and sports equipment. Location is close to Louisiana mall In a newer looking strip mall with easy access off and onto the interstate.

Stopped in to get some LSU shirts before the game. The store was a little crowded and disorganized. Think they were short staffed.

I went in for a long drench rain coat and found plenty👍 but the cost was like $14.99 which surprised me bc I was looking to pay round 70 bucks. The ride was worth it🍷👍

Theyve got some great sales on clothes right now, but their ammo and firearm stock is kind of low, thats everywhere though. I find some of their stores carry more than others. I scored some 5.56 and 9mm the last two times I was there, so I got lucky! The two box minimum rule sucks though and there AR parts are lacking right now, again, just like everyone else.

Competitive prices, gr8 selection and easy returns. Much better than buying on line.

Prices have really risen from (2) two years ago..Once was a pair of Levis COSTs $40.00 , now there $65.00 , major increase .. Everything else seemed to be a good environment like always.

Not sure exactly what happened to this academy sports but customer service has declined rapidly and drastically to the point where I will not go back in that store to try and spend my money the way I was talked to today ensures I will never go back in that store

Great place to find what you are looking for for your outdoor gatherings. At least it was until Covid hit, and then ammo shortages. But still, you can find most everything you need

They were out of the 2 things we went in for. Everything was very picked through and out of place. Hard to know what prices were bc nothing was in the right place. Had a nice selection of fishing rods though.

Hello I will start out good things about your store it is very nice organized priced lots to choose from . BUT (us humans can be big babies if we have to wait 10 minutes to check out ) when I went to check out with 2 pair of Nike shoes and 2 pair of $14 socks I saw about 10 people and couples waiting in one line to check out . I left my shops up front and left the store mad. no big deal I guess as I am heading to Rouses I see Carnival Shoes . So I go in and find the same shoes at the same price . unfortunately they were out of my size 11.5 but they will ship the 2 pair of shoes to my house for free .

Went there to pick up an item I had paid for a few days ago. The item was not at the pick up desk so they had to bring it up from the back, the wait time was not very long, and very easy to get going. The store was very busy but we made it through the line with our other purchase in no time. Overall good experience.

Would have given a five star, no sales people on the floor. Had to pass on a shirt because it was hanging high and I couldnt reach it.

Its okay and located in the city I reside in and not over in the next city. Sometimes you find what you and other times not so lucky.

25% off signs alll over the book sacks, but when went to check out, rang up regular price. I asked the lady about the 25% off and she says, well it rang up regular price. Uhh yea I see that.. the shelves say 25% off. She calls someone to check it out... apparently that brand was excluded from the 25% off...THEN DONT PUT 25% SIGNS ON THE DAMN SHELVES!! Who sees fine print when all you can see it a BIG BOLD 25% OFF!?!?

Reviewing based on the store, not their new implemented silly gun rules.The skinny is, they cant sell you an angry black rifle, but theyll gladly sell you a shotgun and 50 rounds of buckshot with a bayonet lug.Store was nice and very empty. I was able to lay in one of the floor model tents without my wife leaving me as I made bear noises.

I bought a fire arm from this location about 2 months ago now and it was instantly defective so I had to get it sent off to get repaired been trying to get ahold of them for 2 weeks now to get an update on the firearm but it just rings non-stop but today I finally got through just to get the phone slammed on me do NOT recommend this location at all

Ammo is out, Guns are scarce, pretty much everything is scarce. The shelves are low. Makes me wonder if theyre getting ready to go out of business?

The only way it could be better would be if the nice sunglasses werent in a case..... Lol.

This location at Juban Crossing is better than the Academy store on Siegen! Service is slightly better but the store is definitely cleaner.

I actually came here to get my daughters school uniforms. I found everything I needed at great prices. The store was neat & clean. So was the fitting rooms. Everyone was pleasant & helpful from the moment I walked in, to the fitting room, to check out, all the way back out the door. It was a good experience.

Nice/friendly staff

A very long wait (25 minutes) to meet with a representative to see specialty equipment. Knowledgeable and friendly staff once I was greeted. 3 reps were available and customers were steady. The numbered ticket system was not being used. Id made made eye contact with a rep within 5 minutes and waited very patiently while a rep wrapped up with another customer. There was no other acknowledgement.

Great place to get in and out of fast...you know what you want and where its located, grab it and get out. No long checkout lines either!

I love this store but have to take a star for no offshore fishing section. Come on - this is south louisiana. We have some of the best offshore fishing in the world.

Im not sure why but this Academy is better than most. The employees are friendly and helpful every time I need help. They have more stock than the stores in BR and it is organized better.

Just wondering why there not enforcing the mask mandate.
