Appletree Books is an almost iconic independent bookstore. The selection of books is just right, the staff is both knowledgeable and friendly, and their responsiveness to orders and questions is fast and personal.Im especially fond of Michael, whose literary tastes heavily overlap with my own, and Lynn (the owner), who runs a great community-oriented business and has also recommended only great reads to me.Its the Cheers of bookshops, and its great, as a dedicated and eclectic reader, to go where everybody knows your name.

What an absolute beauty of a book store, we strolled in unintentionally and were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance. Once inside I was surprised by how large the space was, it was nice to see the curation of books was diverse.

The selection is very good for a smallish bookstore, but what sets it apart are the folks who work there. They are consistently helpful and kind. It doesn’t hurt that they greet you with smiles. A little gem on Cedar-Fairmount!

Appletree is an absolutely wonderful neighborhood bookstore! The staff has always been so kind and helpful, and is now even more so during the pandemic. The Book Guru was incredibly helpful getting me a book even though I couldnt browse, and the stores precautions (masks, hand sanitizer, limited guests, plexiglass wall) made it feel like a very safe experience.

I like the ambiance, the area and the old school architecture. The books are kinda pricey, but I guess not above average for what todays books go for. Im just used to acquiring books from thrift stores and library book sales, so Im a bit spoiled when it comes to book prices.

This was a great one. Books stacked everywhere. Lots of beautiful old books and lots of interesting books I wanted to read. Found several books I didnt know about on pre-Columbian native America, so I was happy. So many wonderful books on so many different subjects.

I have never been to a bookstore where so many titles hit my interests to a T, and my wife lived it too. Not only is the selection good but its everything you want a small bookstore to be: welcoming, a gathering spot, friendly, and resourceful.

With the covid still around it was not open for me to look around
