My family physician recommended Dr Jenna Kim at Charlottesville Eye Associates. I am so glad.A few months ago, Dr. Kim examined my eyes and scheduled me immediately for cataract surgery. She did not let me suffer with worsening vision.I am grateful for her expertise in cataract surgery. I now have 2020 vision in both eyes and no side effects from surgery.

I sustained a pretty serious eye injury and was seen on an emergency basis by Dr. Kim. Every staff member I dealt with was sweet and understanding with me. Dr. Kim was kind and gentle with the work that needed to be done with my eye and saw me promptly each and every follow-up appointment I had. I couldnt recommend her service more highly.Grateful that Charlottesville Eye Associates was there when I needed them most!!!

They charged me an extra fee for a procedure in my exam- not covered by insurance. When i complained they said i should have read the fine print of the pages of papers in the beginning that i signed! Sorry!Im at an EYE doctors office !!- I told them it was hidden in the print on a full page of info! they told me next time i should read it all!How about at least separate the info or bold print or highlight it?I called back and spoke with the owner and said i felt like i was ripped off-They finally relented-and returned the fee. Apparently others have been caught in this little scam.I will not go back.

Dr. Kim is awesome. I was gifted by genetics at a younger than normal age the unfortunate struggles with developing cataracts. My vision was deteriorating pretty quickly, however, Dr. Kim made my world return to a much better normal. I was super nervous with the unknowns of eye surgery but both Dr. Kim and the staff at the Monticello Surgery Center eased my nerves and the experience was most rewarding. I highly recommend Dr. Kim and the Monticello Surgery Center. Thank you so much for giving me back my vision.

The first visit went well but my second visit was horrible. Dr. Kim wasn’t any help at all. I was told that I couldn’t be helped due to the circumstance of my eye which is fine… but she didn’t explain why and couldn’t refer me to someone in the area unless I asked for the information. When I asked she told me no one around Charlottesville is going to do the procedure.Never coming back to this place.

Doctor William Grover is an outstanding ophthalmologist. He has been monitoring the progression of my cataracts for some time and in November 2020, Doctor Grover performed my cataract surgery on both eyes, two weeks apart. The change in my vision is truly remarkable. I am thankful to him and the exceptional staff at Charlottesville Eye Associates, especially technicians Jessica and Priscilla, for the first-rate care I received throughout the entire process. Doctor Grover addressed all my questions and concerns, putting me at ease about the surgical procedure and recovery. I would highly recommend Doctor Grover. In addition to being a highly skilled doctor, he is calming, caring and kind.

Dr. Grover is an excellent physician. I had Salzmans nodules and was concerned about the removal procedure. He explained everything and told me what I could expect as far as discomfort. I didnt have pain and have the utmost of confidence in his ability. Priscilla, his assistant, is also professional and caring. She, too, spent a lot of time making sure I was comfortable and informed. Thank you to all who work in this practice.

Absolutely do not go here for a contact lens exam. They dont accept insurance and will end up charging you about $300 for a standard contact lens exam. They will claim they do not understand why you are upset for paying such an outrageous amount of money for an exam and not do anything about except be rude and condescending. Also the doctor will specifically give you contacts that you have repeatedly said you cannot wear and gaslight you about them. When you point out later you cannot wear them, they dont care at all

I have seen Dr. Grover many times over the last 18 months for an uncommon eye disease. His knowledge of the cornea and cutting edge treatments is unparalleled. He explained all the options very thoroughly along with the pro/con and associated costs. Further because he trained at John Hopkins he has working relationships with some of the top surgeons/specialists.

Very disappointing experience with Dr. Grovers office at Cville Eye Associates. I cant say whether or not Dr. Grover is good with medical eye issues, but he gave me an inaccurate prescription for lens, not once, but twice. I ended up having to pay several hundred dollars from my own pocket to correct the problem. When I wrote him a letter asking if he would help with this, he refunded the $42 cost of his refraction charges, but I was out the hundreds for having to replace my glasses because of his error. Not happy. He also seemed very rushed from the moment he entered the room - like he had one foot in and one foot out the door before even saying hello.

Staff is nice, but their billing practices feel off and costs seem really high. I called to speak with someone on the phone about a bill, and she seemed annoyed before I even described the problem. The insurance claim didn’t match up with the bill they sent me. I wasn’t argumentative, just asking for clarification because I had no way of knowing where the number they came up with that I owed came from, and I had already paid quite a bit for the visit. The woman cleared up the issue, and when I mentioned that they should ensure the bills that they send out have more information on them, she said that she would suggest it to the service that they outsource to for billing, but her tone was sarcastic. It was an unpleasant interaction, and this bill is stupidly high for an eye exam.

I’ve been seeing Drs. Grover (ophthalmologist) and Huntzberry (optometrist) at Charlottesville Eye Associates for a little over a year and have been very pleased with the care that I have received from the beginning. I had cataract surgery by Dr. Grover in the past month and am very pleased with the care I received before, during, and since the surgery. CEA is well equipped and well staffed with competent people to provide the eye services that I have needed. Both Grover and Huntzberry are meticulous in their work and seem to be perfectionists who aim for the best possible outcome, whether it’s performing a surgical procedure like my cataract surgery or determining the best prescription for contacts and glasses. I’ve been impressed by and pleased with their depth of knowledge, level of competence, and interest in the person that they’re treating. I recommend this office and these doctors to those needing eye care for the front of the eye and for corrective lenses.

I went for simple cataract surgery. A mistaken tear during the operation has left me with blurry vision, feels like I have an eyelash in my eye almost all the time , bright flashes in my far peripheral, and a droopy lid sometimes. There has been no acknowledgement that I have a problem, even though I brought it up at each visit, so , of course, no solution or even an apology was offered.

I saw them a year ago about what should have been a simple procedure. The doctor gave me terrible advice, described the procedure as “a big bloody mess” and now my condition has persisted and in need of even more care than what it should have been a year ago. I don’t have insurance and when I called about pricing they couldn’t even give me a range of what it would cost without seeing me in person (more visits, more money). Finally, basically yelling, I asked how many digits it would be and she told me the maximum price it would cost. Before this even happened they kept me on hold for 18 minutes before I hung up and called back. This place is bad. Go to EyeOne where everyone is helpful and transparent and their visits have fixed prices which they are happy to find for you.

Dr. Mecilwaine is very good and professional. But you need to expect to wait. My simple eye exam took 2 hours. On the other hand, when I was called back for a 2nd test that did not require me to see the doctor, I was in and out in 15 minutes.

Dr. Morton has performed two cataract surgeries on me, to my complete satisfaction. Two complaints about CVAs practice: they rip you off for $40 cash at the end of the exam (no other doctor does that), and their prescriptions do not include your PD (puppilary distance), making it difficult to order glasses online.
