Bagels were good. Nice hole in the wall place. Most of the coffees were empty - so just double check.

It took my husband 40 minutes to get two bagles for us!!! Theyr so slow!!!! And the food wasnt even good!

This might be the most poorly run restaurant in Charleston. EVERY single time I order from there, they somehow mess it up. The bagels are subpar and way overpriced. The “meat” they use is so processed it should have a desk job. The workers are extremely rude and honestly a little dumb. Really not sure how they are still in business.

My favorite spot! I come here all the time. If you are looking for a cute breakfast atmosphere, this may not be it, but they have the best bagels in Charleston and super reasonable prices! You can get a breakfast sandwich for $5. There is a wait on weekend mornings, but if you call ahead its not so bad! Weekdays you are good to come and go in a hurry. Get a bag of day old bagels for $2 and try the Denver bagel for a dope veggie option!

I usually really enjoy Bagel Nation, but unfortunately this last experience was not pleasant. Long wait time, hair in multiple pieces of our food and the wrong food item given to us. It’s a shame we really did enjoy this place for when the food is good it’s great. The worst part was watching one of the employees give money to a customer with gloves on and then use those same gloves to make my food. I hope to return one day but for now I won’t.

Bagel Nation on Folly Road on James Island is one of my favorite places to get a quality bagel and breakfast throughout the day. Everything here is fresh and delicious and well made. The staff here is very attentive and works hard to make sure that you have everything that you need. They have consistently provided an excellent experience and have been reliable each time I have been there.

Best bagel shop in Charleston hands down! They have a good selection of food including bagel sandwiches. Their house made cream cheese is awesome definitely recommend picking up a tub! I will say they run out of bagels by the afternoon so get there early if you want a selection.

Not a great experience. Staff didn’t seem to care. Wanted a bacon egg and cheese bagel and was told they didn’t have bacon. While we were waiting they told the next person they were cooking bacon. This option wasn’t even offered. Figured we would give it a shot but it pups too go back.

As a local, Ive been coming here for years in my mornings before the work day starts. The staff is always friendly and the food is great. Definitely my top spot for quick breakfast in Charleston.

The food is always delicious, however the James Island restaurant is incredibly dirty. Online ordering is best if you don’t want to wait in the long line and then wait another 20+ minutes for your food to be prepared.

Cream cheese and bagels are just the start. Bagels made fresh each day. Raisen and cinammon is my favorite.Love to get the sourdough bacon, egg and cheese bagel every Saturday morning.

Yo, they have pork roll! (Taylor ham) and theyll put it on one of their amazing bagels with egg and cheese for around 6 bucks. of course they have all other breakfast meats, veggies, and lox. Bottom line: eat here. The bagels are the best in Charleston.

Bagels are the closest thing we’ve had to a NY bagel. The “Everything” bagel had a little too much salt, but other than that they were awesome.

I live in the apartments right behind. This truly is the best breakfast spot on folly for early morning goers. You always get SO MUCH FOOD! They are generous, kind, and the food has never been cold or distasteful. Make sure you tip these people! There is usually a line out the door !!!!!!

This place was good，but I was not overly impressed. They have a wide selection of bagels but were missing quite a few. I waited a decent amount of time for my food to come out and it was just OK. Maybe we caught them at a bad time (Saturday morning) but its a bagel shop so I hope that isnt the case. Coffee was OK but they needed to refill most of the flavor options.

As a local on James Island, I have tried Bagel Nation many times and continue to be disappointed. Bagels are good. Other food such as omelets, coffee, and sides are average at best. What really detracts from this establishment is the lack of service and lack of cleanliness. 45 minutes for an egg sandwich, incorrect orders, bathrooms that would make a gas station look good, and bad attitude from staff. I love to support local businesses but unfortunately I will go elsewhere to get my bagel fix from now on.

I really try to like this place. It’s locally owned which is good. The layout and efficiency is terrible though.- cut down on the menu items. There’s like 50 things.-you don’t need to offer 12 kinds of coffee. Just serve coffee. When the regular stuff runs all there’s only lukewarm hazelnut or some other flavored stuff.- spend the money and renovate. The layout is a clusterfvck. The space could be used so much better. Currently everyone just walks into each other over and over. It’s like having a restaurant in a three bedroom ranch from the 80s.The staff is friendly, the bagels are great, and the breakfast food is good enough. Don’t go at peak breakfast hours on the weekend!

As a New Yorker I must tell you these bagels are as close as you will get to NY here in SC. All the usual varieties, very fresh. I drive 40 minutes to buy Bagels here!

Best Bagels west of the Ashley. 17 minutes off Folly Beach if you are wanting a bagel relatively close to Essa Bagels on 3rd Avenue. Yes weekends are busy, but no worse than 730 AM on Monday morning in Manhattan.

Decent bagel but the selection really narrows later in the morning. If you like a specialty bagel I would advise you get there sometime early in the morning.

It only took most of my morning to get my damn bagel after calling it in ahead of time.

Great bagels, great breakfast sandwiches. My husband loved the frazzle bagel too. i gave it 4 stars because of the really long wait - but to be fair it was during a busy time & there were signs that said help wanted - so we’d assume we’d have to wait a little longer than usual for bagels.

The bagels and food are absolutely amazing!! However customer service is not always great, although the last time I was in they were really friendly. My online orders are almost always incorrect but not in a way that totally ruins my meal. However they’re usually a line and the wait for food after you order can be upwards of 20 minutes and that’s dining in. It’s all about timing, try to go early or late and beat the crowd.

I moved to Charleston around Feb 2016 and live near to Bagel Nation. I love going here. Bagels are excellent and I love the service. I am shocked to see people complaining about the service. The staff are always friendly with me, talkative and I never have to wait long for my food. Great coffee also.

I come to this location a lot for breakfast before work. The staff is awesome and very friendly. They always greets you with a smile every time.

Edit: 2/29/20: place is once again slowest service in James Island. Took 45 minutes to get bagel with cream cheese. Orders are made completely out of order and kitchen staff seems generally clueless. Questions asking about status of order are met with contempt. Cant recommend even though its one of the only places to get bagels in Charleston.Edit 3/25/17: came again recently and things went much more quickly and bagel actually had cream cheese on it. Will leave at 3 stars until I see if this is more consistent.Dont come here in the morning on a weekend. Super slammed and it degrades into a disaster. Bagels used to be good but I dont think its worth the hassle.Ordered a bacon and clean cheese bagel. They didnt put bacon on it and the amount of cream cheese was embarrassing. Didnt keep them from charging $5 though.

Food is fantastic. Service is beyond slow (45 minute wait for two bagels kind of slow).So if you go during a busy time be prepared to wait.Dear Owner - I stood waiting for my food and watched the cooks. There are so many inefficiencies. The three cooks stood and waited more than they were preparing food. For example, they were waiting on something from the grill. Instead of starting the next order they just waited for the first order to be done. It just seems like there could be a lot of little improvements that would stop the 40+ minute long waits. Ive been to plenty of bagel places in NYC area that are busier and never had a wait anywhere close to that. The food is great here, and the place is awesome, but if an efficient competitor moves in close youll be in trouble.

I was going today for the first time but after reading the reviews on cleanliness and attitude of workers, this place is not for me or anyone else.

The food was great as always but I will not be returning until after Covid. The entry has always been tight and there was no semblance of distancing. None of the 15 customers were wearing masks and neither were the staff. Disappointing.

Ive always like the bagel at Bagel Nation a lot. Just be prepared for it to be very busy on weekends with a wait & you wont be disappointed. The only reason I have it 4 starts is that, unless theyve changed, they serve margarine instead of butter. I either order a breakfast sandwich or cream cheese so Im not sure if you can get butter at this point.

The everything bagel with honey butter makes any terrible day better. This place reminds me of a few awesome bagel shops from up north - a huge feat considering the drought of (good) bagel shops in the south. This is something I look forward to every time I get to James Island.

Awesome bagels and I am from NYC so I know how hard it is to find a good bagel. I can honestly say that this place reminds me of my old hometown Brooklyn and the quality is the same as the best Brooklyn bakeries and even better than the old H&H bakery on the upper west side.The people who work here are genuinely happy to help, take pride in their jobs and are all around salt of the earth. I like the people more than the food and the food is awesome! But the people working here are what keeps me coming back...

Stopped by after a long 48 hours without sleep. Wanted something quick and different I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Not super quick but still well worth the wait! Must try. We got the Manhattan and Mexican. Both were delicious. Not just your every day bagel place for sure.

This is a go to breakfast spot for us. It is typically busy in the mornings but you still get your food quickly. Bagels made fresh daily and they have an extensive bagel choices as well as a large menu. There are also omelet choices, pancakes, and grits if you dont want a bagel sandwich. Lunch options are also available.

As a retired couple, my husband and I love coming often to get a healthy breakfast. We see others we know sometimes and love the friendly service! They have WiFi or we bring our paper. Just talk to others next to us if they are interested. Grands like to come also.

Recently moved to the area! This place has amazing bagels! Their sandwiches are also amazing! A must go!

I ordered four bagels, toasted well, and they were not even warm. I called to let them know I was not happy. The woman kept saying that she toasted them. I got upset, and she hung up on me. Very inappropriate, so I called back to speak to the manager. Evidently that is who hung up on me. I will not go there again. No customer should be treated like that.

My everything bagel, egglewich was delicious. Its the closest Ive had to the bagels I grew up eating and serving up north! The service was fast and pleasant. I also picked up a 1/2 dozen to share with my family. I do wish there was a bigger selection but it was noon when I got here. Next time Ill come in earlier!

So hard to find good bagels in Charleston, and these are definitely the best! Closest thing to NYC bagels around. I usually just pick up bagels on Thursdays when they do buy a dozen bagels get a half dozen free! Great deal! So I cant say much about customer service, but Ive never had an issue myself.

This place has great food but every day when I call to place an order they ask me to please hold and then they put the phone down and forget about it and there it sets until someone finally picks it up and sees if its still on. And then when you try and call back the phone is busy because they never hung it up because they forgot about it. It is absolutely ridiculous that I cant place an order over the phone without someone forgetting someone is on the phone waiting. It is so incredibly aggravating!!

Girl taking orders was very rude. Food was good. Not sure how a 3.50 sandwitch and cup of water was 5.00 but wasn’t about to ask. Never again. Bad business to have the first person you encounter be so rude.

The bagels are usually pretty good and the selection is decent as well. The problem is the staff, they are so rude its unbelievable. Every time I go in there Im shocked how rude they are. Its especially funny when you are the only customer at the counter and three staff members will all try to look busy and not help you. Every time I go here I thank god Ive got a one man business. I can only imagine all the customers that are turned off by these rude and unhelpful workers. Luckily this is the only place to get bagels on James Island. Otherwise this place would be in serious trouble if it ever had any real competition. Which is a shame because they actually have good bagels. If I were the owner Id spend some money and have some secret shoppers work the store. I think he or she might be shocked at the results.

Greatest bagels I have had since leaving the great northern bagel Mecca of NYC. Who ever owns the recipe for Bagel Nations bagels owns a fortune. Most surprising in this age of surly staff, the staff too was a welcome. Especially this one very bright, cheerful and just down right pleasant lady who soothed my ruffled feathers after I saw people coming in before me and picking up their orders before mine. Instead of snapping at me while there was so much activity in this great little find of a breakfast place, she smiled at me, told me about how most of their regulars just order ahead. Instead of her making me feel like an idiot for jumping to conclusions, she not only asked me how my day was going, but she also followed up with me after I got my order. I definitely can tell you that she was from New England and if you see this bright woman, say hi for me. She , too was a gem.

Seems like our order got lost over an hour after it was supposed to be ready. Finally was given the WRONG order after saying something. We only ordered 2 bagels.

Customer service is everything. The Bagel Nation in West Ashley needs some work on this. Customers should be greeted when they come in. Employees should use suggestive selling, especially brand new customers. Although the product was good, well the one that was correct anyway. I am not sure I will return. The chip selection is optionless. And if the Elis Island sandwich comes with sprouts, it shouldnt have tomatoes instead. Please improve your service.Thank You
