Could not be more pleased with the service we received from Joaquin in sales. The process of buying our new VW ID.4 was completely seamless. He gave us a ton of information in the lead up to the purchase as we waited for the car to arrive at the dealership. He was in constant communication and MOST IMPORTANTLY, every single piece of information regarding the process that he provided was EXACTLY what occurred. There were no hidden charges or switches in the product once we arrived. I would absolutely purchase another car through this dealership and would recommend Joaquin to any family or friends that were interested in a VW.

I bought a used Chevrolet Bolt from them. I guess I should have done more due diligence on the vehicle because I thought they all had the fast charging option (DCFC). When I found out this model didn’t, a salesman told me it was a factory option that could easily be purchased and installed. I don’t know if it was just ignorance or a lie. But I believed him and signed the paperwork. When I found out that the vehicle could not be upgraded, they wouldn’t let me walk away from the deal even though I hadn’t taken the car into possession yet. So yes this is partly my fault, but they could have corrected the situation instead of sticking me with a car I didn’t want. So thanks, guys. I’m glad I trusted you and I’m glad you got your stupid little sale. Enjoy the commission.

Every technician has an off day, everyone does, however when an individual is having a day where they dont care and dont want to be at work, its probably best to stay at home.Im the fleet manager for a company that operates all over the western half of the US. We operate light, medium, heavy duty vehicles as well as large earth moving equipment. Ive been in the maintenence and repair business for 30 years, there isnt much I havent seen.We have a fleet of VW cars for our inspectors, surveyors, foreman to jet around in. I insist that we take our vehicles to an authorized dealer for maintenence when vehicles can not be brought to our maintenence facility for in house repairs. We expect to get dealer quality service, expertise, and professionalism.Thats not at all what we got from Bob Baker VW in Carlsbad. The service manager needs to have a morning meeting with his techs and see if his crew thinks that this low level of quality work meets the standard of VW... Im certain it does not.Ill get to the point, when the service writer writes perform service express/ inspection andCheck and adjust vehicle tire pressureIt means you are looking at the vehicle to find deficiencies and sell me a product and/ or a service.I recieved this vehicle back at our maintenence hub with less than a 1000 miles on it since it was in Bob Bakers VW shop.It was brought in for a service, inspection, tune up, and slow leak in front left tire, and any other needed repairs as found by their professional VW techs.The oil change and plugs were replaced, thats it...Had the inspection actually been done they would have found the following easily with a 10 min walk around.- Left front tire leak, screw in tire- Both rear tires with bald strips down to the cord-02 sensor cable visibly cut in half- multiple dash warning lights on due to O2 sensor damage and a leaking front tire.Bob Baker passed up on diagnostic labor, a flat repair, selling 2 new rear tires, an alignment, 02 sensor D&R.Easily about 1200-1500 bucks worth of work, not to mention putting the operator at risk of a flat or creating larger engine problems down the road because our operator is assuming its been in the shop, repaired, and inspected so its good to goThese cars get driven to death so maintenence is no issue, if they need it, repair it. Ive never denied an operator a safe vehicle to drive, hence why i insist on dealer service and not some dumpy joe blow shop in an alley way.This rating should sting, I see the owner responds to these so I hope there is a reevaluation of priorities in the service Dept. Whats important? Pumping out 80-90 cars a day with substandard work or 50-60 cars a day and providing quality service deserving of the VW brand. Obviously thats rhetorical question...See the attached photosUpdate to store manager:you can not find my name or last initial on an invoice because Im not the individual who brought the car in for service and repairs. Im the fleet manager, not the operator who drives the car and paid for the service.I will certainly call you tomorrow to discuss this issue and email you the the work order number and additional photos.

Took the car in today for the 30k service and was told by one of the minions (service manager was too busy cowering inside) that the extended plan expired TODAY and the service would not be covered.Standard stealership move, don’t expect anything different here.

Everyone was always helpful and pleasant, made me feel like they really cared. I looked at cars for over two years and each time I checked back with Christy to test drive again she always welcomed me and gave me her best. I appreciated her patience in continuing to work with me. I now have a Subaru Forester and am thrilled with it. This past weekend, I bought the new VW ID.4 at Bob Baker Volkswagen. I had inquired online the previous week and Eric Mathis, our sales representative, got back to me immediately. We went in and met with Eric. He was knowledgeable, helpful and gave my husband and me time to discuss among ourselves. Eric gave us information about purchasing vs leasing and about our different model options. I never felt pressured to buy and Eric was flexible in our final purchase timing. :( buyer beware !!!!They forged their safety inspections and certification documents then ignore needed warranty repairs.I bought a used VW from the Bob Baker Group that was listed as an all-whell drive, safety inspected, certified car, with a warranty.Not!What I drove away in was a hazardous to drive, 2wd car with chronic electrical issues.I learned Bob Baker gets away with not reporting certin repairs by bring their used cars to private repair shops.I brought the car back to Bob Baker 3 times before the financing and registration was processed reporting the new car I bought felt unsafe to drive and concerns of electrical issues.The service staff failed to identify or fix any of the vary serious safety issues independent shops IDd immediately.The service staff also failed to correct my assumption the car was a 4wd.Turns out Baker forged the certification and safety documents.After 6 visits to Bob Baker Service Dept and being the car was fine, brought it to independent repair facilities.They reported Bob Baker lied about the cars safety inspection: any mechanic could see the cars brakes, rotors, tires, alignment, etc were worn 50,000mls premature and the one side of the car had been repainted.When I reported the contract fraud and safety issues to the owner Cobi Baker ...the true slimmy car salesmen emerged.Bakers response was to trade the damaged car in for one of two lesser vehicles out of service lemons on his lots for an additional $5000 out of my pocket.Buyer Beware!!!They forged their safety inspections and certification documents and fail to repair issues under warranty.

However, in this case I REALLY have to give credit where credit is due.Specifically Elibeth, Dustin, and Josh were an excellent team in providing stellar customer service, the most competitive deal on my car (2021 Subaru Forester Sport), open, honest, up front communication, laid out all my options and certainly catered to what I wanted.Was initially dreading the experience of haggling and hidden fees but this was not the case and instead buying a car here was a pleasure. I inquired about a TDI GOLF through the internet. And spoke with the main service manager Lance(Also a nice guy). He assigned me to Lisa Quintal as a sales person. She couldnt have been more nicer. Lisa exceeded my expectations, she was knowledgeable about the car I wanted, patient and made sure we felt comfortable with the whole purchasing process. She also let us test drive some gas versions of the same vehicles so I was sure in the choice I made. The facility was clean, and organized. Everyone was dressed to impress. The Finance lady was clear, and direct and didnt try to sell me things I didnt need.

It was not my fault they did not have a rental car and they also never informed me how long they would have my car they had it for 2 weeks. Id give them 0 stars for their lack of follow up . Im not holding my breath that anything will be done in regards to a reimbursement or in response to this rating.

Stay alert to extras and inconsistencies.Our experience with this dealership was packed with both:- listing for an SEL trim in a certified pre-owned Tiguan at $19,900- then it wasnt CPO but our salesman, Lance, said they would cover the costs and we were impressed.- then we went through a couple days of silence as we tried to track down Lance or anyone else to move forward. We finally met Lisa who was much more helpful and responsive.- only it wasnt an SEL anymore, it was just an SE. The price difference is roughly $1000 less on that model/year.- then we received a revised quote to reflect the trim level. The sales price had gone up by $1300 and a new line item for VSC/Maintenance Contract had made its way into the quote for no less than $2920!!What started as a fair deal on a SEL had ballooned to over $2600 above market for the SE (not counting the $3k add-on)... almost masterfully.There are honest dealerships and then the rest. We hoped Bob Baker would be a good partner for the vehicle needs of our growing business in SoCal. We ended up dealing with familiar faces and straightforward tactics of Chapman and Berhshire Hathaway auto groups- in Phoenix - and will transfer the vehicles to SoCal ourselves.Keep your eyes open and stay alert! Good dealerships DO exist. I hope this was just an isolated case of misfortune, but our experience with Bob Baker really felt like the execution of a cleverly designed playbook.If you still want to try for yourself, ask for Lisa :)

Complete waste of time. I spoke with the salesman about the particular car and that the thing that drew me to it was the price of $27,225. After waiting over an hour they were able to bring the car from an offsite lot and explained I couldnt take the car home for at least a day or two until they inspected it from being delivered but I could sign paperwork and lock it at the price and pick it up when ready. I gave my information and when they started the process of payments they came back to me saying they made a mistake on the price. I was told the car was really $10,000 more than listed and the best they could do was an additional $500 off their best price which was still $6000 more than discussed. So after two and a half hours I got nowhere as they wouldnt honor the price from their own mistake. They said they fixed the online price but it still shows the marked down price even with the adjustment. Dont waste your time here, theyre dishonest scammers.

Ive had troubles with my VW Golf for over a year, 5 other transmission and european auto shops have been scratching their heads and couldnt find anything. These guys managed to solve it! And for 1/8th of what I expected to pay. Of you need service, ask for Will. Hes the man and made my year by helping me fix this

Told me my car would be ready by 1 called maybe 6 times to check in and see if it was ready at 1 they forward me to the same guy who never picks up. Finally they called me back hours later and let me know that it would be done at 430. Programming a key does not take that long. They most likely put it to the side and did it last minute cause its a quick task. I got caught in some traffic on my way there got there at 515. Theyre closed and i see my key sitting on the desk but the managers from sales cant get in the office so i can take my car and be on my way. Not to mention my friend let me borrow his battery so they could program the key since mine was dead and now he has to wait another day for his battery. Another friend took two 40 min drives with me to go there. Absolutely disgusting customer service, why would you tell me to be there at 430 if you close at 430 makes absolutely no sense. Also if someone isnt picking up the phone why do you keep forwarding me to him instead of finding someone who can help me. Also tried telling me my battery was bad or it was my alternator when i know why my battery died in the first place. Terrible customer service and will try to pull a fast one on you if they can. Never coming back here again.

While I still appreciate my service technician, Bobby, the overall service this dealership is providing its customers has declined drastically. As mentioned in other reviews, when you want to buy a car the sales guy Yuri will come to pick you up - but if you want to get your car serviced, you are completely on your own. They blame Covid of course - but if they can offer ride services for sales they can certainly figure it out for service as well. When Covid struck they sold all their shuttle cars, fired those employees, and they have no intention of bringing that back once this is over. Unlike Toyota, or Nissan, they are not offering you a credit to pay for your own ride share service either. In addition to that - all the service employees there were cut to 50% pay. Meanwhile sales are up and cars are flying off the lot, Im told. Mr. Bob Baker needs to do better by his customers, and certainly better by his employees. I no longer feel good giving him my money.

An estimate? You mean, the itemized list of repairs I requested and never received? Oh...right, the door that you didn’t fix but somehow charged me $600 in labor for, now I remember. IF YOU WANT, YOU CAN COME FIX MY DOOR. I have a question, if you want! How does someone spend enough time working on a car to RACK UP $600 in labor, and not notice the door handle on the driver side doesn’t open the car! For all I know, you guys didn’t even perform the work. Your place of business is dishonest and untrustworthy. I wouldn’t recommend service with your company to anyone I know. Let it be known, we own a Subaru and we were thoroughly impressed with Xaviers ability to move us through the transition from one lease to another.This was our first time leasing and mostly chose this option 3 years ago due to the impressive advances in technology and the increasing safety features that are added to cars on a yearly basis.My 77 year old mother moved here from Idaho with an F150 fully loaded Ford and believe me, the 2017 Subaru was a downsize for her.Our new 2020 Forester has all the safety features, EYES with advanced braking technology, and a little added size to encourage her to brave the California traffic.Thank you Bob Baker SUBARU!

Let me start by saying the mechanics are amazing and I have had no issues in that department. However, I have had issues since I bought this car from VW Bob Baker. Firstly, I bought a new 2020 car and had to return the next day because the AC didn’t work. They had the car for 5 days. Just bought the car and cant even use it. When my husband and I returned to collect our keys in the main office we were ignored for 20 min as many employees simply walked by and ignored us. I am in a wheelchair and my husband is black and we felt extremely disrespected. Then we received a call 5 days later stating they messed up on my purchase paperwork and to come back in again. I called and left 3 messages and no one returned my call. Then I get my plates in the mail and they were wrong. I clearly needed handicapped plates and this was not corrected on their paperwork. I had to print forms and correct this issue myself and I am still waiting for plates to this day. Now I have to go back in again and leave my car for several days to be fixed. We are in the middle of a pandemic and I have underlying health issues, in a wheelchair, and VW Bob Baker is clearly not making purchasing a car from them even worth the hassle. I am very frustrated by this.

Even though I purchased my 2017 Subaru when we lived in Colorado Springs, I feel that Bob Baker and Joseph Phillips treated me as if I purchased it at Bob Bakers. They were diligent in performing a 30,000 mile check-up and serviced my old battery. I was given a ride to the Carlsbad Outlets where I spent the service time. We had moved south to San Diego, but still wanted to come back and give them our business again. Big thanks to our sales rep Derek and Rob in the finance department who both made the lease process super easy. We leased the Forester through my small business, which was a first for me, but Rob guided me expertly through the whole process. We couldnt get a straight answer about anything and they brought in a closer who pressured us and was condescending. At Bob Baker we worked with the same person, John, all morning who walked us through every step. Total transparency. Our experience with the paper signing at the end was also super smooth.This week I took our new car in to have a special sealant put on. Everyone in the service department was extra nice as well. I had to return to get lugnuts replaced on rear tires. We dropped our forester over night and it was done early in the morning! Phenomenal services from Julian Perez, JP who assisted me on the phone, and the rest of staff being so welcoming outside. They made everything easy for me and my two boys. We’ve purchased from Bob Baker before and feel comfortable buying from this dealer. They’re not as pushy as other dealers can be. On this recent purchase, we went back and forth and had to show the manager the price we quoted prior for the same vehicle was lower than what he was willing to do the day we decided to purchase but in the end he matched it. The sales representatives (Billy T. and George Mang) were both professional and good to work with. We mainly worked with George, he was super great to work with, very down to earth, professional and very knowledgeable of the VW Atlas. We will buy from George again as we need another new vehicle in a year or so.

The regular 6000 mile check up went fine. However, I had a problem with the automatic engine cutoff when coming to a complete stop. I has not worked for the last 2 months. I was told that they checked and found nothing wrong with it. Well, it still is not working. I think I will take it to another Subaru dealer for help.

Got the quote over internet from Seth, got my car as promised - good price, good test-drive and fast delivery (thanks to Chris), no hassle.I like the fact that dealership did not add any default additional equipment for the car i got (e.g. security tracking devices, door edge protection for 500+$ or others) - the practice many other dealers follow that makes buyer to pay more for something they do not need.Recommend

Came here to buy a car. A very rude older salesman came out and asked repeatedly what my budget was, even cutting me off mid sentence. When I gave him the low end of my budget range, he immediately said they don’t keep cars in that price range, even though I had just seen several on the lot myself. He basically told me to leave and go look at a lower scale dealership. I wouldn’t give these guys my business even if they cut their prices in half.

I am very displeased with my maintenance experience at this dealership. Will was my service advisor and Angel was the mechanic. I came in for a brake light stuck on my 2017 vehicle with 25k miles, I had driven over 40 miles that day before I noticed the discrepancy and brought it in. They told it me was rodent damage and it would not be covered by the warranty. Estimated roughly 430 dollars not including labor because he had to take out the battery to inspect the wires beneath and remap the entire system. I asked to see the damage which was a small chaffed spot below a bracket. Not rodent damage. I asked to have the vehicle back, I would do the repair myself. I go sign the paperwork and wait. Now the vehicle will not start?!? I walk back to see what happened and the harness is torn apart. “That’s definitely rats”. They point out “rat feces and urine”. Urine sitting on engine blocks that has not evaporated ?!?! And it was not rat feces , it was seeds from a tree in my yard. They tried their best to sell me on rat damage but I have 15 years military experience as a avionics technician on helicopters. I had them push the vehicle into the parking lot, spliced the wires myself and found a broken fuse. How extremely convenient. This type of business is not ok and they are taking advantage of people.

We had a 10am appt. for a rear wheel coil recall. The recall letter said that if there was no corrosion on the coil it would not be replaced. A good possibility in a city like Carlsbad where there is no snow or rain.They said to plan on 4 hours in case the coil needed to be replaced. We asked for a van to the Outlet Mall which seemed like a fun thing to do for 4 hours or even less if the coil didnt need to be replaced. When we hadnt heard by 3:30 I called for a van back to the dealership. The car was sitting outside the garage waiting to be taken in to be checked. At 4:10 they took the car in to be evaluated. At 5:00 Brenden came to us in the waiting room and said the coil didnt need to be replaced and as soon as it was out of the carwash we were free to go. I dont have an issue with Brenden, he was trying his best to make this a positive situation. My issue is with management. Why couldnt the car be checked at the 10:00 appt. time ???

I have been to this place in the past, bought 2 cars and had them serviced multiple times. I have never experienced an issue until this week. I brought my 2012 diesel golf in for a required recall on Monday evening for a service appointment on Tuesday morning. Will Carrasco checked me in and assured me that the car would be done before lunchtime the next day. On Tuesday, I heard nothing and finally called around 12:30 only to find out that no one knew where my car was, the appointment had been cancelled, and no work had been done. After a couple more phone calls and an email, Will Carrasco called a couple hours later. He gave no apology, nor did he acknowledge that there was any issue. He assured that he would call with an update on Wednesday. I received a text in the morning and then nothing. I texted to figure out the status of the car and he told me he would contact me on Thursday. Again, I heard nothing. I texted again in the morning and he said he would call me at 1:30 with an update. Yet again, I heard nothing. I called around 3:00, Will put me on hold for several minutes and then said he would confirm that my car was done around 5:00pm. He never called or texted. It is now Thursday evening and still no idea when my car is going to be done. I guess I will have to drive down there first thing in the morning and figure out how a 2 hour job turned into a weeklong test in patience.

I made an appointment to take my car in for a recall that was issued a week ago (it is a safety recall, driver side airbag AIRBAG MAY EXPLODE IN A CRASH AND SHARP METAL FRAGMENTS CAN HIT PEOPLE CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH) I left work early to make the only time they had available today, and when I showed up they informed me that they had the wrong parts to complete the recall and that I would have to come back in later next week (I would have to take work off AGAIN). Not a single attempt was made to help me or figure out a different solution as I do not want to be driving this car until this is fixed. Highly disappointed. All I am asking for is a rental car to drive safely until my car gets fixed.

I worked with Christy Vogel for about 15 minutes back in December 2019 to do some preliminary research on buying a car, and she was the most honest, truthful, and ethical “sales” person I ever encountered in my life. She was more of a helper instead of a sales person. When I told her I wasn’t quite ready to buy yet, she was super friendly and then completely left me alone, instead of periodically spamming me with cars “I might be interested, even though I said I wasn’t in the market.”When it came time for me to actually purchase a car in mid-February 2020, she immediately came to my mind and I didn’t hesitate to text her what I wanted. She only sent me cars that fit the description and my budget, and I ended up purchasing a better cart for myself than I had ever imagined, within my budget! She even picked me up so I didn’t have to find a ride to the dealership! How she was able to find that car for me was amazing. I think it was because she had really wanted to help me, and not just “sell me a car.”Christy is by far the “Golden Bird” if you ask me. If you want an honest, helpful, personal experience, ask for Christy. She’s the absolute best. I’d give her 100 stars on Google Reviews if they’d let me.Thank you, Christy!!

I had such a horrible time with Temecula Subaru and I am pleased to say- Bob Baker’s Subaru is NOTHING like Temecula!I was seen right away. My drivers side headlight was out and Darius Young not only had that fixed, he had them check and replace passenger side as well. Also I had had a sneezing fit on my way over and Darius took the time and effort to wipe down my interior windshield for me too!I will always come back to your service department , I always get grade A service and as a widow, I appreciate this more than words can express. I also talked to many Subaru owners and they were all pleased with the vehicle. When I went to Bob Baker Carlsbad I was greeted with kindness and respect.
