Made an appt. and drove all the way there to find out they no longer accept their OWN coupon from a mailer. Then why send those out locally here when there are no other big o tires around? Coupon was good for another month. At the very least they shouldve honored it this time since I drove there already until they sorted that out. Needless to say they will no longer get my business

Such great service. I was visiting from Phoenix and had a problem with the car. They took such great care and fixed it while I waited. And didnt charge me anything. Who does it these days?? Taking care of out of towners, whos wouldnt even be coming back regularly.I would say very honest and trustworthy people for your car needs. If I was living here, I would be their loyal customer!!

I had my ball joints replaced on my Jeep Grand Cherokee followed by a wheel alignment.Unfortunately the steering wandered and became harder to control after the new ball joints were placed. After notifying them of the change in driving conditions they changed from MOOG to Spicer ball joints (which appeared to be the absolute best replacement parts for my Jeep).I did not incur any more charges. Tires were competitively priced but installation took over an hour for only two tires- even with an appointment. When I got my vehicle back it was covered inside and out with oil and grease. Being a former mechanic myself, I understand “dirty” comes with the territory... I just believe the car could have been wiped down before being returned to the customer (me).

Shout out to Trent for helping me locate the specific tires I needed. Even though they didnt have them in stock, he ordered them from the warehouse and they arrived the next day. Props to all u guys at the shop for getting me in and out with no problem 💪

I went in this morning to have a new tire put on my car and no one was wearing a mask. Not the owner nor any of the employees. When I asked why the owner said “we don’t want to” and then she laughed. I told her my aunt, 42 years old, died last month from covid and I didn’t think that was funny. She said “oh well, you can leave now, we won’t be servicing your car” then she smirked at her coworker. It was unbelievable. They have several Yelp reviews stating the same treatment. I called the California department of health and they told me they have been notified several times but because they can’t stand in the waiting room to make sure they keep their masks on the next option they have is a fine. Please take your business elsewhere. If these people don’t care about you I find it hard to believe they would care about your car!

Don’t come here. Terrible customer experience both times I have come here. The first time I came here I got new tires and the mechanics left a mess in the back of my truck after they had to access the floor consoles to get my tire lock. Everything was just thrown in disarray. I gave them a second chance when I came to get some headlights fixed. I had an issue with a bulb and had to come in a second time. I walked into the office and Day the front desk and the owner just did not make me feel comfortable at all and had a aura of pretentiousness due to my little knowledge of cars, which is why I am a paying customer. I’m pretty sure I walked into the office while she was talking some smack about me. It’s pretty cute when people don’t know who they are talking to. All good. I will definitely bring my money and referrals elsewhere. Thanks for making that decision easy for me fellas.

Definitely making this my main auto-shop in Carlsbad as a local!Ive been to a few shops in the area, looking for fast service, honesty, good work, and decent prices. Out of the 4 different shops Ive been to, this one hit all points to a T.I needed to get my oil and filter changed, and they did it for 19.99 (As opposed to some shops in the area, which will do a synthetic oil change starting at $50!!). Not only did they complete that work efficiently and quickly, but they alerted me that the old shop I went to had put the -wrong!- fluids in my power steering!!! Power steering fluid should range from clear to pinkish in color, and my fluid was brackish blue!!Raul took great care of me, and popped the hood and showed me the various parts and pieces that he was concerned about, explained about why, and allowed me to not only learn about my car, but inspect and approve what needed to be done to it for myself. Now -that!- is honesty (LOVE it!!).A quick hour (holy smokes, theyre quick and fast!) later, my power steering system had been flushed twice, and topped off with new power steering fluid. They also replaced my serpentine belt (which was indeed, cracked and worn) in this time.For roughly $200, I walked away with a happy car, a further educated self -- and I am beyond pleased with the service.Thank you, Raul and team, for your amazing service!See you for the next check-up!

Had these guys replace a flat tire a month ago. Ever since then my wheel has been vibrating at speeds over 60 MPH. Must’ve been a bad fitting/balancing job.Also charged $180 installed for an off-brand tire, which I thought was on the higher end.

Really happy with this service! Chris quickly diagnosed the problem associated with my tire pressure warning light and identified a low battery reading with one of the sensors. Rather than spend $$ to replace the battery, he suggested I simply check my tire pressure regularly (which I should have been doing anyway!)

Honest and trustworthy! We drove to Carlsbad from Utah and the front brakes on the truck went out . This required a complete new rotors and pads replacement. They did the work in just a couple of hours and charged us a very fair price. Considering we were from out of town, they could have easily taken advantage of us, but chose not to.

This was perhaps the nicest tire buying experience Ive ever had. Ive dealt with a lot of pushy tire salesmen and this was different. Didnt try to pressure me into anything. Tires are great. Good price too.

They meet or beat their estimated time for a service to take. Brett also manages to fit me in when I have an emergency. I recommend them whole heartedly.

DO NOT SHOP HERE.. I have lived in Carlsbad my whole life for 32 years and I advise everyone reading this to not shop here at all.. the owner, Brent and the staff are very dishonest and disrespectful.. I ordered a brand new set of tires from here.. i picked them up and i chose to have them mounted somewhere else because this location overcharged... come to find out they sold me tires that were 11 years old and unsafe to be on the road.. when i tried to return them the owner told me that he could not do anything for me at all because I knew that they were old which was a complete lie.. if i knew they were old I would have never of bought them obviously.. I went in to buy NEW tires not old ones... he refused to help me out at all and he lied to me... he is a very unhappy man, probably divorced and in debt.. he must not be from around here because we here in Carlsbad hold ourselves to a higher standard, so i recommend everyone to purchase there tires anywhere else but here. There are plenty of great tire shops in Oceanside Vista and Escondido that are cheaper and way better service... I had to file a case with Big o corporate and they were able to give me a new set of tires because they were very unhappy with the store. They refunded me my money for free and told me they would charge and discredit this location the amount I paid.

These people are very much scammers! I took my Cadillac to them for a minor problem and ended up having to get the State of California auto fraud department involved. Do NOT get involved with these people or its going to cost you..!

Brent, the owner was great. Day, at the front desk, was not. She quoted me $40-$100 for a service. Once in the shop, she said the service on my car would actually be $180. I chose not have the service done at the additional cost. Day had not warned me beforehand that there would be a $30 charge for reassembling my car. When I contested the $30 charge, based off the fact that she had misquoted me, she said she would report me for non-payment, unless I paid the $30. When I asked to whom, she said, Youll find out then, wont you. She was smug, rude and weird. Brent did not charge me the $30, but I wont go back, because of the bad front desk customer service.

I give this a one star because some of the actual mechanics gave good customer service. However, Brent comes off apathetic, aloof, and seems like he only has his best interest in mind- maximizing the amount of money from your wallet. Until today, I have been a returning customer, but then they told me they couldnt perform an oil change due to the silicon around the drain plug. This means that someone tampered with the plug most likely because the treading was worn and the silicon material was applied as a makeshift, temporary fix to screw the plug back on. Big O told me that I had to sign a waiver allowing them to move forward with the oil change, but if the drain plug does not screw back on, they would not be at fault for it. I told them:(1) Ive only been taking my car to them(2) They even pulled up my records to see that yes in fact I have been there several times for oil changes and other work, and(3) I would not sign a waiver that was protecting them from their own mistake.Big O said that anyone could have worked on my car since my last oil change, which I understand. However, no one but Big O has touched my car since then- so, why do I have to sign a waiver now? For the purpose of paying for their mistake? Brent refused to help me any further. Also, friendly suggestion- please do your research before taking your car in for any issue. They come off condescending when it comes to describing issues with your car so they can take advantage of taking more from your pocket. Go to Carlsbad Auto Service, Mission Bay Auto Service (Mission Bay, San Diego, CA), or anyone but these guys. Unless you want dont mind being overcharged or exploited.Thank you for reading : ]

Drove Vegas to Carlsbad for a conference a couple days back. Had a flat -- badly damaged tire. I was very pleased with the quick, friendly and honest service. Id highly recommend Big O Tires in Carlsbad.

Friendly employees, decent customer service and they seem to do a great job for a fair price. Love that I can drop my car off during my lunch break and it is done within a reasonable amount of time. I usually go to them for oil changes and tire rotations, but also have used them for other services as well and have been happy with my experience. Definitely would recommend them to others who are looking for an auto shop in the Carlsbad village.

PLEASE READ!! I have been going to this place for quite a while now and never had any issues. Today I took my car in to repair a rear driver side tire. They completed the job and as I was getting into my car I noticed a large scratch on the rim (which they worked on) that stretched across three spokes. In order to repair a nail or screw in a tire, the tire has to be removed from the rim. The young lady behind the counter came out to inspect along with the kid who apparently completed the job. I’m 100% POSITIVE that the scratches were not there prior to the visit because every time I have gotten in my car, sensors keeps annoyingly remind me of the low tire pressure due to the puncture. I have looked at that tire each time I have driven my car to make sure it’s safe enough to continue to drive before I could take it to get fixed. At this point, the young kid basically says he didn’t do it. We all go back inside and I ask the young lady, what next? She proceeds to do her job and inform me that they don’t cover scratched rims and there’s nothing she can do. Meanwhile the owner/manger sitting next to her finally chimes in after a few mins and reiterated that there’s nothing they can do. He goes on to tell me that their machinery, which is strong enough to remove a tire from a rim, is made of plastic and because of that it’s impossible for it to scratch a metal rim. He didn’t want to make eye contact with me through all of this, nor take the time to get up and actually investigate the issue for himself. Terrible service. People make mistakes, OWN up to it. Needless to say I will never return nor recommend to anyone. If you’ve taken the time to read this and still want to take your chances, be sure and take photos of whatever it is you’re getting worked on before they start the job!

I took my car in for an alignment warranty (original alignment was done at another big O) and they did an amazing job. Quick service and great location. I am very impressed and would suggest them to anyone.

Ive gone to this place about five times for oil changes and one alignment, I kept going back because its the closest place to where I live and the prices are decent, but every time its been disappointing one way or another.First time: Oil change, picking up the car to find oily footprints on my floor mats.Second time: Oil change, Im told itll take about an hour and half. After 3+ hours I call to ask whats up and I get oh I was just about to call you, its ready.Third time: Alignment, didnt notice it until a couple of days later but they messed it up and my steering wheel isnt straight when I drive straight. Decided Id ask them to fix it during the next oil change.Fourth time: Oil change, asked to fix the alignment issue but they said their machine was broken. I was told the oil change would take an hour and half and theyll call me when my car is ready to be picked up. Waited 2-3 hours, no call. The place was about to close in 30 minutes so I called them and the guy (not the same guy who I talked to while dropping my car off) said it was done a long time ago. How can you forget to call your customer to pick up his car? If I didnt call them they probably wouldve closed for the day and kept my key until the next day. No apology, nothing, they acted like nothing went wrong.Fifth (and last) time: Oil change, asked to fix the alignment again. Grumpy dude said theyll take a look. I was told itll take two hours and theyll call me once its done. After 3+ hours I called to ask whats up, they said oil change was done and theyre trying to check the alignment. 4,5 hours after dropping my car off I got a call saying its ready to be picked up but the alignment couldnt be fixed because of an issue with my tie rod. They didnt offer to fix the problem, just said the alignment cant be fixed because of that. My invoice says removing & replacing tie rod was quoted but not performed, but it was never quoted or offered. I later talked to a mechanic I know and he said they probably didnt even look at it and just wanted to get rid of me.Either way, youd hope to get your car back to the same condition it was before these guys gave me a crooked steering wheel, but apparently they cant do it.From now on Ill get all the work done somewhere else, maybe one of those places thats professional enough to return your car the way you brought it in, not messing up your seat adjustment & AC settings. Its those little things that tell a lot about the overall quality of your work.

Took my car in to have the tires looked at because a piece of Tread had come off. When I took it in they told me that it was caused by a mechanical problem with the alignment. I got a second opinion on my alignment and theres absolutely nothing wrong with it, it passed with flying colors. They didnt give me an allowance on the new tire, it still had about 45,000 miles left on it. I wont go back there again myself, I wouldnt recommend it to anybody else. They kind of screwed me over by charging me full price for the defective tire.

My wife and I were staying in the area for the weekend when we came out to the car in the morning and noticed a flat tire. As we had a ways to go back to the airport, I didnt want to drive that distance on the donut supplied. Called and spoke to the manager who said they could get me right in. Turns out it had a small tear on the corner of the tread making the tire unrepairable. He made the call to the rental car company and managed to work out payment directly with them. No out of pocket for us and the repair was done quickly with great attitudes. Great job Big-O!

Ive been dealing with Big O for over 15 years. i live in Carlsbad, and its been very convenient for me to walk from and to there. Over the years Ive gotten great service; the people have been friendly, and the service and prices good. A couple of days ago i took my car (purchased in January, so i hadnt yet bought tires from big o) to have a tire leak looked at. they told me that it would cost $20, since i hadnt purchased the tires from them. Absolutely no consideration toward a long time customer. So i left it there. They later called me to tell me that the tire wasnt reparable and that id need to buy a new one. i said okay. They had to order the tire, so i left the car there overnight. When i went to pick it up, i had neglected to read the sign on the door saying theres now a 4% service charge for anything but cash. No checks accepted. I complained and then left. My car was parked down the alley. When i got in, the ignition was on (the engine wasnt running). So i went back to the office and asked the man i thought was the manager if he in fact was. He said he was the owner. I suggested that he tell corporate that their new policy was not acceptable. He said that it was his policy. Then i told him that whoever had parked my car had left the ignition on. He shrugged, said i could go somewhere else if i didnt want to pay a lousy 4%. he said nothing about leaving my ignition on. Obviously this is not the same management that has treated me so well over all these years, and i dont plan to return there unless ownership has changed. p.s. When i got home, i looked at the invoice. It showed the vehicle as a 2004 Dakota--the car id been taking there the past 15 yrs.pp.ss. managements responses seem to be canned and ask for a lot of information, in order to contact me. Dont bother.

Came in limping on a flat tire. They did a little research and found a lower rate on my specialty tires. Noticed a wobble the next week and they fixed it no charge. Did everything as expected and nice guys.

Been here several times. It is the only place in the village that I know of. Their tire techs are young and inexperienced. Other than that the people are fairly nice.

Felipe and Brent are lifesavers! My husband myself and Our three children were on our way to SeaWorld when our car started smoking. We got our car towed to Big O Tires in Carlsbad and might I mention it was 20 minutes before they closed. Brent and Felipe were able to fix our problem and stayed after hours in order to do so. They were both very professional and friendly. I highly recommend this place. They were also very reasonable in terms of pricing. Thank you once again Brent and Felipe .

Id been a customer of Discount Tire for many years and yes, its spotless there and all the guys look cute in their spiffy logo shirts... but their prices have become pretty high and all that add-on crap they try to sell you is crazy. Last time I heard your car has an auto deflate sensor and for $20 a tire we can add an actuator meter to keep an eye on... HUH!? Costco is VERY high priced as well.I came here looking for a hard to find in-stock tire size, and also had some brake vibration issues. Brent (owner) was VERY nice and went out of his way to find me a great set of tires with the perfect tread for my Navigator. After all, us customer want a safe tire, but we want it to look good as well :-) So, he special ordered them and they were there in a day, and the total price came to $400 less than Discount, and I love these tires.With my brakes, I had bought the car with a wobble when pressing the brakes and I knew I was in for a $800 brake job to replace all the warped rotors and pads, and possible a repair to my brake lines.. I mean the brakes were a mess. So he calls me up and tells me everything would be just $240 and I was floored. The rotors had enough on them to turn em, and that saved a bunch. He originally said the pads in the front looked usable and after really tearing into it, the front pads were a little low... so he decided to replace them for free for me. So they went out of their way to help me get out the door with safe brakes, for much less money.Best of all, this is a tire place that CAN handle brakes and other work.All n all, this place is small and has a home-town feeling and the guys there are fantastic. I would never go here. I have been a Local to Carlsbad for 29 years and wanted to try this place out. They dont take walk ins past 5:00pm. I called at 4:45 and said they would not help me out. Horrible customer service. The lady that answered the phone laughed when I said this is not good customer service. From one local to another find another place.
