Went for a walk in my neighborhood and came home with a hat 🤠 It was a very busy Friday, so I had time to browse and when I was ready with questions, the staff was very nice and attentive. I selected my Stetson and then found some “flair” to go with it. I ended up with a pretty ribbon and a sweet small feather 🪶. The gentleman who helped style my hat was SO NICE and we bonded over our love of the film “Urban Cowboy” 🤩 I walked in to browse and walked out with a fabulous hat and I’mSo happy I did!

We absolutely love it here!!! My first time to Austin, TX and I’m leaving with my first ever custom hat. Aracely helped us and she was seriously the best. Taught us so much while making my hat. A true gem of a place, we know we will be back soon :)

The COOLEST hat shop Ive ever been to in my life. Its a little pricey, but the quality is spectacular. I am now the proud owner of a custom hat made for me! The process is so simple and the people who work here are so kind and helpful. I will definitely be back to get another hat soon!

Nice place, you do have to approach them if you want some knowledge tho. Don’t expect to get help unless you ask for it. Nice selection tho.

Hat paradise and coffee shop. What else do you need in Austin?

My wife and I came in today. We were hoping to look for a straw hat for her and a hat brush. The store is beautiful however we did not receive good service. At first we did start speaking with a helpful rep who left to lunch but the other sales associate was not very personable in helping us when we asked about a style we liked but was not in stock.

Such an awesome experience! Jose was so helpful and talented - I just LOVE my custom hat! The entire store is beautiful. Other employees were so sweet to my son, explaining to him where the feathers came from and letting him pick out the best ones. Couldn’t be happier!

Booked a custom appointment with Shaun and she was amazing! So fun to work with and helped me find the perfect hat and decor to go on it. Highly recommend coming here to make your own one of a kind Stetson!

We were out-of-towners, looking for a special Austin keepsake for our 10-year old twin girls. Sean helped us on two occasions, and gave them both the time and attention they needed to understand how to pick the perfect hat. Sean provided her unfiltered opinion, and directed them both towards the best choice given their preference. They each turned out with the perfect custom hat, alongside an unforgettable experience theyll definitely remember for a long time. Cant go wrong at Maufrais for great service and quality hats!

I am in love with the custom hat that Shaun helped me create. The shop is stunning, have beautiful, high quality hats, and the staff is so helpful. You must ask for Shaun. She guided me in helping create the hat I was looking for, ideal for my head shape! It is not cheap, but you pay for the experience, quality and custom hat!

Everyone was so friendly, helpful (and stylish) at Maufrais! As a first time hat buyer, I was admittedly a little lost but Andrea helped me to find the right size and style of hat to make me feel like an experienced cowgirl :) I’ll definitely be back for any accessories and adjustments and will recommend to others!

The store is beautiful and they happen to have the best selection of Stetsons I’ve come across. The staff is also very kind and helpful, I almost bought a hat that was a size too big but they made sure to get me the perfect fit which I appreciated a lot.

I gifted a custom hat experience for my fiancés birthday and he absolutely loved it. We worked with Aracely, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. She helped us narrow down the options on hat color and style, fit it to his head, and even lit the hat on fire to give it a distressed look! The whole experience was really neat and I would highly recommend it.

I am over 60 and I Love a nice hat and love stetsons! I was visiting Austin Texas and stopped in this store on a Tuesday evening around 4:00pm. There was only one other customer in the store and At least four or maybe five sales people in the store .no one acknowledged me when I entered the store and no one ever asked me if I needed any help .I only stopped in because my daughter asked me to look for a hat she had seen on the Internet and she felt it might be at the store. ( she had recently visited Austin and had purchased a straw Stetson from Maufrais) I had to go up and ask one of three men who were quite young who stood at the counter and just acted disinterested as if I wasn’t going to purchase anything. The guy who helped me asked me a few questions about the size my daughter wanted and when I answered him he answered me as if I wasn’t familiar with sizes of hats. My Dad has been wearing Stetson hats since I was in Grade school !My friend and I had planned to purchase a hat but we opted not to because the kids Who worked there were snooty and had poor customer service with people who maybe looked like their grandparents . All I can say is they lost at least a $600 sale. Hope the owner see this review and hopefully clean up his sales people . I won’t be back because I have worked way too hard foe my money and will spend it where I don’t want to be served .

Always a wonderful experience at Maufrias!! I have several custom and in store hats from them and I love every single one. They have an excellent selection and their customization options set them a part from any other hat store in Austin. Every employee is always so kind and knowledgeable, they go above and beyond each time. Aracely and Michelle helped me out today, and they were both exceptional.

10/10 recommend checking it out. Knowledgeable and friendly staff who is super attentive to detail. If you are thinking about getting into a hat game, then this is the place!

The staff here is absolutely wonderful. Ive visited before and they always have a wonderfully curated selection of merchandise beyond hats. Today I finally took the plunge and got a hat made, and all of the staff made me feel right at home with their expertise. This store is so dope. If you want a quality hat - this is the place to go. Its not CHEAP. But thats besides the point. If you want a cheapo hat, order something online. If you want quality craftsmanship and a hat that will last for decades, buy it from here. I have a great appreciation for hat swag, so I pride myself on buying quality goods. This place shoots you straight and will even shape your hat if you didnt even buy it from them! For a price of course. Anyways, me and my lady got our hats fixed up here. Our girl shaped em, burned em (adds a distressed look and great for all 10 of you IG followers),and helped us pick a band for the crown. If you want a proper, fashionable hat - this is the place.The black one is mine. Shape is known as the gamblerTeal one is my wifes. Not sure the shape, but she gets mad compliments because of the color! Also purchased both of our hat bands from here.

Wow, what an experience! My husband and I happened up on this place last week on a road trip. I love hats, and was completely intrigued by the custom process. Michele helped me with all the details and couldnt have been more accommodating. I love having something one of a kind and well crafted. You truly cannot beat the quality of Stetson and the experience of shopping at Maufrais. The store itself is a vision, the aesthetic and cleanliness are top notch. Ive already sent some friends who are headed out west next week. Looking forward to returning soon!

Terrible experience! Was discriminated against and humiliated by their unfriendly and unknowledgeable staff. This store is completely Un-American and a true insult to the products they sell. Prices are unreasonably high as well. I wish I could give negative stars.

Would have loved to be serviced at this store however they didnt acknowledge my existence. Sorry for a high end brand. They should know better. Smh. Minorities have more $$$ then these Vapid fold expect.

I love this store, wonderful addition to South Congress. Andrea and LT were so sweet and made me feel really comfortable while I hung out and got my hat shaped. They also advised me on styles—it was my first time reshaping a hat and they answered my questions without making me feel judged! I am going to be back to shape my other hats, upgrade hat bands and get a custom hat. I’m also sending my friends here to do the same!

Deeply knowledgeable staff hand-shaping Stetsons on Congress Ave. The showroom samples give great ideas but do your research and bring photos for reference. My only struggle was choosing a headband!

I had a wonderful experience with Ross and Josh they were super helpful during my first real hat purchasing experience. everything from the style to the fit of the hat and them all of the custom shaping I highly recommend!

Friendly staff, but above all their customer service was surpassed my expectations. Michelle took great care of me. I knew nothing about the quality, style, and shape- but Michelle literally walked me through the entire process. I went with a hat that needed to be shaped and size to fit me, can I just say she did amazing! You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful clothing store with high quality products. My husband bought a Stetson Hat and I bought a leather jacket. The reason I’m leaving a review though is for the incredibly accommodating staff! They are all so knowledgeable and HELPFUL! I couldn’t choose between the XS and S leather jacket and they allowed me to exchange my unworn jacket twice while I went back and forth and didn’t make me feel embarrassed about it. Thank you Andrea and team for not judging so I could be happy with my final decision! I will be back!!

What a beautiful shop! Full of unique items and beautiful hats. I found the coolest ancient Chinese paintbrush the other day. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Love this shop!

Hate to give this place a bad review but honestly they were incapable of shaping the customized hat I purchased. I went in three times and although I am in love with the shape of the top and the add on’s I chose, the shape of the brim is not what I was looking for or asked for. They blamed it on not having the proper tools to shape, yet claim to do customized work..I’ll have to go back to a local, higher end hat shop for the shaping I want.

Talented staff capable of shaping hats to any style youd like. They mostly sell Stetsons, but they also have crystals and other small, fun items. They often have pop-up shops in the store to match the hats! Definitely recommend stopping by and trying on some on!
