Had some gold and silver I was looking to sell. Have never sold precious metals before, but this was the first place that came up on Google, so I gave it a shot. The owner gave me a very low estimate, said it would be very hard to sell what I had, and called my coins junk despite many of them having a numismatic seal. The very next two places I went to offered twice as much as what Abercrombie offered. I told the guy that I didn’t know much about precious metals, so I think he was just trying to rip me off and scare me into selling for dirt cheap. He could have bought my coins and literally gone to another buyer in Austin the very same day to sell them for twice what he would have paid me for them. Yet he told me that they would be hard to sell. I did eventually sell my coins to another buyer for a fair price.

Amazing service at fair prices and knowledgeable staff! Repaired a ring with an adjustment for $200 when 2 other places said I needed to replace/rebuild areas of the ring for up to $1500! Great selection too!

We are really saddened by our experience with Abercrombie. The engagement ring my fiance bought a year ago broke. We sent it to them to repair asking for them to put a new shank on it to give it more life and size it up. They did not apply a new shank and sized it down. I can no longer wear the ring and it now does not have enough metal in it to resize it. They defended their work rather than asking how they can make it right. We are now working with another jeweler who is working to make their wrong right. The customer service and integrity behind their work is less than desired. Will never work with them again.

My fiancé says that he had a wonderful experience working with the team at Abercrombie to create my engagement ring. They were able to use the setting and diamonds from a family heirloom ring (which a different jeweler had falsely told us was not possible) and helped my fiancé pick out a sapphire for the center stone. The ring is absolutely beautiful and exactly what I wanted!

I had a custom wedding band constructed using diamonds from my mothers ring to make a guard that would surround my engagement ring (an heirloom from my fiancés family). The design process was thorough and professional with constant communication and illustrations and the final product is even more gorgeous than the renderings or my own imagination could have possibly hoped. I trusted Abercrombie with my prized possessions and they created an artful piece that I will treasure throughout my life and will be no doubt be treasured throughout my family in future generations. Best jeweler I have ever “dealt” with. They made it like I never even had to deal with them. They had our custom ring designed and made in 2.5 weeks at a great price. They aren’t selling you a ring so much as helping you pick something you really want. If you want something designed by professionals and not just some solitaire off the shelf this is the spot. Thanks Steph and everyone else for all the help and the cad design turn around y’all made life easy for both of us.

As a completely clueless man trying to navigate the engagement ring process, the Abercrombie team were lifesavers.They guided me through the process of getting stones from one ring to put into a different ring, answered all of my questions and were always willing to pick up the phone. I read the previous review and had good confidence in this shop. Went at 6:55 pm and Abercrombie Gems + Precious Metals was kind enough to change strap of the watch beyond the working hours. I had a belt needed to be punched for holes as I became thin recently :) and this guy had the machine to punch it too. And just charged 13 dollars for just the strap. This place is also in a good location.

If youre looking for a company that really knows vintage jewelry and how to work on it, this is that company.Unfortunately, my vintage engagement ring was mangled by another jeweler in the process of resizing, and I thought the damages were irreparable. Abercrombie Gems was able to completely bring my ring back to life and fix all of the warping/breaks that had happened to it.Katy & Steph were super helpful in letting me know what exactly happened to my ring to make it disfigured, listening to how I wanted it look, and communicating how this process of getting it fixed would work.They were able to fix my ring in less than a week, and the work was immaculate (at a very reasonable price, too). Bought my wifes engagement ring here. They had a great selection. My wife also bought my wedding band at the shop and they were quick with the adjustments. The staff was super helpful as well. Id highly recommend checking it out if youre looking for some jewelry.

When I was pressed for time to have some antique pearls re-strung, I happened to be driving the familiar route along Bee Caves and saw their sign. So happy they were kindly able to take my job (on a holiday weekend) and promised it for the tight 3-day turnaround. When they called me to pick-up a day early, I was so impressed and happy!The shop is filled with lovely curated estate finds. Original, authentic , unusual vintage finds as well as some stunning on-site crafted pieces. Fell in love with fingersful of beautiful delicate rings! Gemstones, diamonds, and pearls! oh my!!And the proprietors were sweet and helpful! Love local businesses like this!

This place is amazing. Aj and Stephanie are super awesome down to earth people that represent everything I fell in love with about old school austin. I was worried that I would not be able to afford anything in the shop because of its location, but was happily surprised with how affordable their work is. You can tell that they really care and love what they do. They also gave me an amazing price on some scrap gold I turned in. The ring they made me is unique and gorgeous and I am so happy I walked in to their shop. They made it so quick and easy and now I have something gorgeous that I love......the hardest thing will be keeping it a secret until that magical day arrives :).

Abercrombie repaired a bracelet for me. I went to multiple shops that informed me that it would have to be sent back to the manufacturer. Abercrombie repaired the bracelet for an extremely reasonable price in a short amount of time. Glad to say I have a new jeweler.

They worked closely with us to get an idea of what we wanted and created a ring, then re-created it to make it exactly what we wanted. Got my husbands wedding band here, had a great experience. Stephanie (Stefanie? if you see this im sorry if I spelled it wrong!) had a simple platinum flat band ordered for me in about 20 mins. Much of which was me getting distracted by all the rad vintage stuff in the cases lolIt came in about a week later and he loved it! But it was a bit small so we went back to have it sized. While we were there, he tried on a comfort fit version that was more rounded on the inside and liked that even more. So instead of sizing the first ring, we just ordered the comfort fit version in his correct size instead. Easy peasy!He was going to have the shop add a brushed texture when it came in bc he doesnt like shiny stuff but Stephanie told us that platinum gets a patina on it as it wears instead of tarnishing like silver. Super glad she told us that. It was shiny at first but is slowly getting a patina that looks waaaay cooler than the brushed texture.

I brought my wedding ring to get it resized. When I picked it up it did not fit correctly. I argued and just left and went to Kays Jewelery who sized it correctly.

I was dreading shopping for my engagement ring because, well, Im not a big fan of engagement-type rings.. Id had a couple repairs done at Abercrombie (simple stuff, broken clasps and sizings etc, all well done) and I always have to comb through the cases while Im there so.. Thats where we went first!Steph listened to my hemming and hawing about how Im not jazzed on engagement rings, I dont want anything that will catch when I stick my hands in my pockets blah blah blah. She pulled out a range of unique vintage/antique rings for me to try on. (Definitely much more my speed than anything Id seen window shopping at ben bridge/kays/etc.)Tried on a couple pretty killer deco rings first, would have been happy with either of them but then.. the third one.. That was the one. My fiancé and I knew it the second I put it on. An antique Edwardian ring with three rose cut diamonds, ~200 years old. Super unique, but also kinda traditional. That was a bingo.(I honestly may not have asked to see this ring if Steph hadnt pulled it out for me toI try it on, so she might be a little psychic. Or shes just good at this stuff. Or both?)So the ring shopping we were dreading took literally 30 mins, we left SUPER happy and even spent a bit less than we had budgeted! (one of the other awesome things about vintage). It needed to be sized so I had to leave it at the shop for a week but.. Ive barely taken it off since I picked it up.Oh yeah and I got to pick out an adorable little vintage ring box. They have new ones, but the option of a vintage box was the cherry on top :)

Thank you so much to Steph and AJ! I was gifted an heirloom gold wedding band to use as a wedding ring but wanted something slimmer. AJ was able to narrow the ring down to a 2mm width without even losing any of the inscription. Steph was always very professional and prompt with emails. Between the two of them, I had my ring back much faster than I expected. Delighted all around with the experience.
