Super happy with the service and explanations by Ryan of everything that i need to be aware of and what exactly it entailed when i had inquired about it. Showed up with no appointment and was still taken care of if a very timely manner. Ive had appointments at dealerships that have taken longer for less also. Would highly recommend Sun Auto to anyone looking for quality service by a helpful and friendly team. Should have read the reviews. Took my Mazda 3 in to get oil service and I believe “Jason” the manager was helping me. I came in expecting to pay $30 to get my oil done, then was told I needed the “premium” oil. I’m like whatever fine, there’s a discount going on anyways. I get the bill back and it’s $66, which is weird when the cost is $45. I’m not about to start a scene over $20 but next time I’ll just go to jiffy lube where it’ll just cost $50. Anyway they’re sharks and tried to bill me $760 for repairs. After I just had my car checked out. Lol. Good try.

I rarely ever get mad because I rarely have poor experiences with places, most times I don’t even write a review but this one can’t go without one. Came in to do a used car inspection, they decided to mess with my battery terminals and caused a short through my fuse link so my car wouldn’t start anymore. Had to tow a vehicle that was working perfectly fine an hour and a half through traffic back home. When I diagnosed the issue at home it had clearly been a short that broke one of my parts I had already replaced and fixed. I didn’t authorize them to mess with my vehicle and this is what I get. Very frustrated with this place, I left feeling like I was lied to and like the mechanic didn’t know what he was doing just to rope into a repair bill. The cost I’m now incurring to fix this on my own is something they should be paying for. Avoid this place

We took our BMW to get a Synthetic Oil Change. There was a coupon on their site that showed $54.95 for Full Synthetic Oil Change for 0W 20 Oil. We didnt know it needed 0W 30 oil. That costs more and apparently isnt included but he, the manager, failed to advise of this and went ahead and did the oil change anyways without advising us of the price difference. When we first got there, not only did we wait over 15 mins to be spoken to, but there was also computer issues. The other gentlemen said wed get the coupon deal before we left. We thought for sure the manager would honor it but he didnt. You should not tell a customer theyll be able to use a coupon and then not honor it when they go back to pay, especially without advising of us the price change.

I have to say that this Sun Auto location ALWAYS takes exceptional care of me! I’ve been taking my car here for 5 years now, and I don’t want to go anywhere else. Every single time I call to get my car in same day they always can accommodate me. Also they get me on the schedule easy. And their wait times are not bad at all. The staff is super friendly and I don’t mind coming in there with them, they are professional. I actually have a little fun with the boys there. They are very personable. I’m glad I got to complete this survey because they deserve kudos at the Slaughter Lane location. Cory (sp?) runs a good show there!!

I went to three different mechanics to get my problem diagnosed and the costs were 450, 500 and 1500. can you guess which one was Sun auto service? diagnosis took over 5 hours and my car was held overnight to have them give me an egregious price estimate. dont trust these rip off artists

Unbelievable! I dropped my car off at night, they have a night deposit for your key, I put the key in the envelope put it in the slot, came back today they say they don’t have it. I put my key in the slot how do they go missing and there are no cameras to go through to see if somebody put their hand in the hand size slot on the bottom of the door. All they said is sorry buddy there’s no key. Now I do not have any trust in this shop where I did before this incident.

I went to Sun Auto earlier this month for an oil change. I get a call that my car needs other services totaling over $700. I declined most of the other services since I couldn’t afford to do it all at once but had them give me the quote. I decided to go to another shop instead because something felt off about the guy who helped me out at Sun Auto. The new place I went charged me WAY less for the services and told me that my Honda Civic has an electric power steering and Sun Auto wanted to charge me for replacing the power steering fluid. That doesn’t even exist in my car. What a scam. I will never do business with them again.

My girlfriend took her car here for an oil change, then called me when they started pushing extra service on her. They claimed she needed her fuel injectors cleaned and that her coolent was completely empty and needed to be filled. wanting an extre $500! We dodged the cleaning which they pushed as the manufacturing recommends AGAINST this service for her car, but got us on the coolent as we thought there must be a leak, then charging for a full flush instead of for filling the supposedly empty radiator and finding no leak.(In a later phone call the mechanic clarified that the resivior was just low, and she did indeed still have coolent)On top of the unneeded service, they left the cap completely off the break fluid, left a connecter disconnected causing her wipers not to work, put coolent into her wiper fluid(the caps are bext to each other), and when we called about this, the mechanic immediately started yelling at us, insisting our complaints were impossible and screaming at me that I wasnt even there so shouldnt say anything, despite haven spoken to me back then. Do not go here! They will swindle you and do not care about you or your car!

Had an appointment at 9:30 for an oil change and didn’t get out of the shop till 11:45.

I was driving in Austin when I noticed some very concerning sounds coming from my front suspension/brake area. I was referred to Sun Auto by a family friend and was blown away by their courtesy and professionalism. I came in without an appointment, but they were still willing to listen to my concerns, were prompt in their service and were kind, knowledgeable and professional when they explained my options. In a little over 1.5 hours I was able to drive away with peace of mind, which is worth every penny. Ill definitely go back to Alan S. for all of my future needs!

Worked with the Alexs. The guys are super professional, friendly, and communicated all issues well. I would have easily given more stars however, I am military and I found there was a 15% military discount that was never offered. That would have been nice considering my repairs were over $1400. Also, a diagnostic test was run, I was given the keys to my car and 5 mins after driving it off the lot, my engine light came on, oil pressure light, and servicing light came on. I called in immediately to let them know what was going on and brought it in the next day. I was informed of other issues that I was not sure why they didnt catch during the testing I paid $115 for. I ended up having to take my vehicle to the Makers servicing shop because I could already see Id be incurring more and more charges at Sun Auto. After being told by Alex that my car needed two to three drive cycles to catch those issues and that they had only done one test drive after keeping my car for 5 days (ample time) and after handing me the keys without ensuring there were no issues, I just couldnt trust that Id be getting the service on my vehicle that I am paying for. I really wish I would have took it to the Makers servicing shop first. Lesson learned.

Not to be trusted. I took my 2014 4Runner to then for an oil change and they tried to convince me that I had after-market shocks that were leaking and needed replaced for roughly $4,000. Not only are the shocks not after market (red is standard for Limited) but they’re also not leaking. I take great care of my car and will not be returning to them for future car care.

Absolutely NEVER bring your vehicle here for ANYTHING. I brought my vehicle in today for an inspection and when my vehicle was returned, they had swiped my front left bumper on something and damaged it. All scratched up. When confronted, the manager Adrian, assumed zero responsibility claiming he had taken a look at it before me and that since it was “white” marks and their barriers in the bay are “red” that there was no way they could’ve been responsible for this. Of course they cleaned it thoroughly so upon inspection it couldn’t be determined what they swiped me vehicle on. We asked if he had any cameras of the garage and work area & he said no because they “have no need for them”. The fact that they “have no need” for the camera’s means that anything could happen to your vehicle in this garage and they would absolutely not be held accountable because there is NO VIDEO EVIDENCE of anything that goes on. I understand mistakes happen, however, the situation could’ve been handled much more professionally and better overall.Luckily my damage is some scrapes but who knows what could happen to other vehicles needing major services like engine, or brakes, or transmissions. If a bigger mistake were made due to lack of attention and care from staff, it could cost someone their life; & that my friends would be a lawsuit to shut this junk of a “auto shop” down.They just assumed that I’m a naive, young woman and that I wouldn’t have notice nor could I have done anything about it and took advantage of that. Steer clear people and listen to the other reviews about how sketchy this place is!

I have been going in for oil changes because of the included tire rotation. They havent tried to sell me a brake job or tires that I dont need yet.I recommend Sun Auto Service for their promptness, professionalism and value.

Arrived just in time for my appointment 10am. Waited 1 hour and 45 min. for them to say I had a timing cover leak. Noticed that the same problem was happening with another girl next to me. I told him I would have to check with my dealership since i still have warranty. They wanted to charge over 2k to get it fixed. Mechanic said they were done and would be wrapping it up. I waited another 10 min or so went by.He came out to tell me they had to order the oil so they hadnt even begun the oil change before they were ready to charge me 2k.Waited another 10 -20 minutes. arrived at 10am was out by 1230pm for an oil change that should have taken 45 min.Took my car to the dealership where I have my warranty the mechanic said there was nothing wrong but to check back in about 1k miles but that here didnt seem to be any leaks or anything wrong with the vehicle.If I hadnt had a warranty or was a easily persuaded I would have paid 2k for being lied to.Right now we are seeing tents going up across the city, homelessness is on the increase, there are people unemployed, there are people losing their homes and having to choose between buying food for the month or paying rent. Right now is not the time to be trying to cheat people out of their money.I understand businesses are hurting but the only way we are going to get through this is by being, good honest people to one another not scamming car owners out of their paychecks or stimulus checks or tax returns.Theyve unfortunately lost my business completely and I hope they seriously reconsider their business practices and policies in striving to be more ethical because what we need right now are ethical businesses not scammers.I will say one thing the changing of the oil was reasonably priced but for a 2 hour oil change when i arrived to my appointed time on time and saw about 3 to four others leave before me and arrive after me it was disappointing to say the least. Its a bummer too because they were close to home and convenient but oh well.- Just an update about one year after this review after driving over 3k miles to Kentucky and back and having my mechanic from the warranty look at it again there was no oil leak and nothing was wrong.

I had such an amazing experience with Sun Auto! Both Allen and Allen-(tino) were so helpful, friendly and patient. I needed my condensor replaced and got my truck repaired in only a few hours, other places told me it would take an entire day. Allen called me and explained everything to me that was going on and answered all my questions. To be honest, I haven’t had as great of an experience since I bought the darn truck. If you need ANYTHING done to your vehicle, I highly recommend going to Sun Auto because they are super friendly, have social distancing measures in place and are not going to price gouge you. Will definitely be a life long customer, they are that great. 10/10 🙌🏻🌞

These mechanics are very honest and helpful. Not like other mechanics who act as if they are only after your money. Pepboys tried charging me over $200 for something that sun auto told me wasnt even an issue. Sun auto didnt even charge me for checking out the car, and when I brought my car back, Adrienne asked me if anyone has ever told me how to do proper maintenance on a car, I said no, and he told me everything I needed to know on how to take care of the car without me even asking. Very helpful.

I went for a simple diagnostic, these guys wanted to charge me close to 1k for a 2 new parts and service.. which didnt even fix the problem. I will never go there again. Save your money people. These guys will RIP you off.

Front desk staff was terrific and the place was clean and the prices are more reasonable than at other places Ive been to. With that said, I really wanted to make this place my go to. But alas, I would not recommend this place because they lack attention to detail. Regarding the cabin filter, they have to unhinge the glove box to get to it, I understand that, but please put it back they way it was. They failed to put two parts back in place which were left on the floor and they left some of my glove box contents on the floor as well. On the oil change, I noticed oil drippings on my garage floor (my 2016 car had never leaked before) so I took it back and they fixed it; the problem they said is that they failed to replace the oil plug gasket. I only hope the other service they performed, coolant flush, was done correctly.

Took my car in for my car overheating, coolant was leaking or being burned, I came to a reputable shop to be told the truth and for honesty, I was greeted by a man with glasses I told him what was wrong and with a serious face he said 295 just to check it, after a awkward pause he made it into a joke and laughed but it makes me wonder what would have happened if I agreed. The car came back and he said it was the thermostat and a hose that needs to be replace, didnt bother to tell me how or what was happening he then said they would charge me $454 for an 1 hour worth of work to replace a thermostat and hose?? ( I replaced the thermostats a day before) . I told him no and paid him 30$. I was treated Unprofessionally, Lied to(it turned out to only be a loose bolt) didn’t even get a print out of what I paid $30 for. Never coming back. If your looking for a honest mechanic and tires if putting money in your car don’t come here it’ll make the problem worse

Had a 2pm Tuesday afternoon oil change appointment. Took them an hour to complete, at which time they suggested a new cabin and air filter. Waited another 30 minutes only to find out the filters weren’t on site and were being transported to the location — a detail they conveniently left out. The associate got snippy when I told him to cancel the filters because I had to get on with my day. Next time I will just spend the extra $10 and go to Jiffy Lube.

Not sure how the good review come from, but never go here for car services. 1. You have to drop off ur car (i received the call to pick it up right after i got home. But they still ask u to drop it off in the firdt place). 2. Cannot blame them excatly on this: but my cars airbag warning signal is on after i leave my car there for the inspection. I have driven my car for 8yrs.....and this is the 1st time happen. Never TRUST them again.

Took my BMW for a simple $80 oil change. Later that night my check engine light came on and my car was running really rough. It was running beautifully when I took it in. I took it back to the shop the next day. There was a hand written note on the receipt they gave me. Which was not mentioned, so I didnt pay attention to it, (thats my bad) it was an error code. Now they say I have one misfiring cylinder, and wanted to charge me $115 for a diagnostic. I said no, and took the car elsewhere. This is an awfully large coincidence. I had zero issues with my car before. Why was this error not mentioned when they handed me my keys after the oil change? I do not feel comfortable leaving my vehicle with this place ever again. Im not completely inept when it comes to cars and I know when Im being duded when it comes to car mechanics. Lost my trust. Will not return.

I have done business with Sun Auto for probably over 10 years maybe longer. I have been thru many managers. Some wonderful some not. My husband and I have put a lot of money into that business. Well, with in a month we paid Sun Auto almost $8000.00, due to them replacing the catalytic converters in my GMC Acadia. Which when I picked that up June 1st I had to take that back again. Well, we took my husband’s truck in for Rack and Pinion, Main Rear Seal, the dip stick broke from checking oil, so that needed to be changed. Well, when doing the inspection of the vehicle they called my husband and stated there was a noise in the transmission and that it would be a good idea to fix it now while they had it all apart. Well, decided to go ahead with it. Well, it was there 10 days. Well, when we picked it up, we noticed that it was leaking oil again. So we took it back on Monday. We were called by Adrian and stated that it was leaking from the oil pan. Hello, if you are doing a fool inspection on the truck and notice it need work on the transmission. How are you not going to notice the leak in the oil pan. Ok, he calls us and says hey we won’t charge y’all the $300 in labor, but it will be around $50 for the seal. Well, it was 56.03. So, it was there another 2 days. Well my husband is self employed and with all this COVID Virus we already had been out of work for months. Then without a vehicle for more then 10 days. We had to change people around. We had one lady find another painter.. Well, my son called and a GM named Wes, called me. I explained my situation to him and also statedthat I didn’t want to speak to anyone else but him. He stated he would call me back. Well, I guess he didn’t want me to bother him! He called me from a unknown caller ID. The next morning he had Adrian, from the slaughter lane store call us at 7:30 am. My husband is walking out the door to work.Well, then on my Yelp review my son stated that they had answered on my review. But then I posted pictures. Well, when I checked I told my son they didn’t answer. He said oh wow, that Jenny lady from Customer Service that answers the reviews, she deleted it. How funny, You know that is why I have lost all interest in Sun Auto.

Not my first time, but not my last time either. However, today they were very unorganized, I am now sitting in traffic on my way home when we made a scheduled appointment for 1 o’clock. To be fair, my brother took it in 15 minutes late. None the less the car wasn’t out until about 4:15. For an oil change!!! They did all these additional things my brother did not ask for, such as checking our brakes. We were already aware of the brakes and needed just the oil change for that time. I understand they want to give the “best” service and what not, but I think all mechanic shops need to take into consideration the clients time when doing any additional work or inspections than asked.Another thing I’m super upset about, we had a little trash bag that they give you on the highways in Mexico to keep from littering, and they threw it away!!!!

Its hard to find a mechanic shop that you can trust, but Im glad weve found one! We take all 3 of our cars here whenever we need something and always get a honest diagnosis.Last week I thought I needed back brakes, due to a noise I kept hearing, so I took my car right in.They drove it and checked it. Told me the brakes were fine and the noise I was hearing was from my spare tire, which was lose. So they tighten it up, sent me on my way and charged me nothing!

These technicians predicted that I would have trouble with my truck! This was from taking my truck in for an oil change. I have never had any leaks from my trucks oil pan. Now, 4 days later, I have a oil stain in my driveway from my truck leaking oil and my coil heater is steaming! They also said my radiator needed to be replaced. I am fearful of what happened to my truck while it was in their shop. I am so angry! I am contacting authorities to see what recourse I have.

Havent personally used their service but Ive brought my friend here on two occasions her car broke down, one was for over heating and another it wouldnt start. They are friendly and will explain to you whats going on clearly. Pricing is very fair and competitive. Some mechanic shops are sketchy, and try to nickel and dime you. Sun Auto is upfront and detailed, would recommend.

This is kind of a little secret for regular auto maintenance. These guys will do a full oil change AND rotate tires all for just a little bit more than it would cost you to do it yourself. For someone like me living in the city in an apartment and cant really do regular maintenance things on my rented property, Sun Auto is heaven sent. By-appointment only (which is kind of awesome)!

Not able to think outside of the box. If you take your car in and they run a code and the code is actually what the computer says it is they will fix it. I took my 2010 terrain in twice paid over a grand to get it fixed. Both times they replaced different catalytic converters, the code cleared up for a week or two then came back both times. The 2nd time it never drove the same again. Took it another shop who fixed the check engine light correctly. It still doesnt drive right though,Took my Taurus in they are saying its the cat again. After some research online I found that the error code being received could be an oxgen sensor.P0430. Apparently pretty common in the 2013 Taurus but Im guessing a lot cheaper to replace. when I asked the guy about it he told me I was wrong and was pretty condescending at this point. They made me pay over 100 bucks to give me the same error code that AutoZone gave me for free.I also took my Taurus in once and had a big hand stain of oil in the upper left hand side when I got it back. I mentioned it to the front desk once and they said oh im sorry we will be more careful.They seem to try to be honest , they dont seem to be able to think outside the box and actually give consideration to other issues that may be the problem. I would really highly considering going to someone else. Just my personal opinion.

I had one idler pulley fail, thought I was getting both replaced since bought 2. They only replaced one and said they would charge me another hour labor to replace the second. Both are easy to replace and should have been done at the same time. Will never do business with again.Update*: now they falsely claim I only want one replaced. I told them in person I bought two because both require replacement.The part numbers and size for both are exactly the same. I have receipts and diagrams showing these facts.

Went to get my pinion seal changed at sun auto & not even two months later i am i have a leak in the rear end of my car which after getting another diagnosis from another shop, i found out that my pinion seal is leaking! DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP FOR ANY REPAIRS!!!

No sense of responsibility for your car after they broke yours!!! don’t come here, otherwise you will regret A LOT!!

OMG!! Mercedes-Benz owners, dont go anywhere else but here. My Mercedes was due for an oil change and of course Mercedes of Austin could not get me in until 2 weeks from now. I got in next day with Tony at Sun Auto. Best customer service ever; even to the point of answering the phone after hours. They also work with warranty and are completely Mercedes certified as to not void any of your warranty. Highly recommended!!

The guys are really cool, just not honest .I spent $800 for a repair I didn’t really need on my vehicle, because I was told that was my problem. My problem still exist, but it ended up being something more simple wrong with it. Plus during an oil change months later, I was never told that someone there accidentally broke my oil dip stick an found out a couple of days later when I had to open my hood to replace my battery that my dip stick handle was completely broken. Now,I just rely on my own personal mechanic to do my car maintenance. Lesson learned is all.

Tony at Sun Auto on Slaughter lane is awesome! OK, they made a mistake repairing my Lexus RX300...but read on please. They replaced the heater core to fix a leak that was manifesting itself with puddles on the passenger floorboard. 2 weeks later, the leak appeared again, only worse this time. When they investigated, they found that they had done something incorrectly originally. Instead of cooking up some story and/or charging me more, they owned up to the mistake, apologized, and repaired it correctly. OK, so they have actual humans working there. LOL. Anyone can make a mistake. I appreciate the honesty. That goes a long, long way with me. I will be back. Thanks guys!

Its a great place for an oil change and tire rotation. Its an auto shop, they are in the business of the upsale just like anywhere else. I find Sun Auto to be competent but if you drop off your car, you will have to call and check in on the status because they have never called to tell me my car is ready. Way better than the now closed Groovy Lube that was up the way.

Ive been getting my oil changed here for the last couple of years because its the best deal in town. I also have had them do some work to my car and the prices seem honest and reasonable. The only reason why I wont give them 5 stars is because my daughter in law spent over $1000 to fix a problem with her car and the problem was not solved. She ended up having a Craigslist mechanic look at it and she spent $150 and the problem was resolved. But The guys at the desk are friendly and honest and I truly believe they were not able to diagnose her problem because their protocol doesnt give them the freedom to organically diagnose the problem. In any case, if you need an oil change you will not find a better deal.

I called B&M Transmission told them my problem, Travis said oh I fix these all the time it should be 300 to 400 dollars. He called and said he needed 475 to look at it since he could not tell right away whats wrong with it. Then I got a quote for 4500 bucks because it was so bad. I said I cant afford that. He said he could call owner and try to reduce it. I said no. He then said I can buy a used one for 2500.00 and it comes with a 6 month warranty. I said fine. Then he calls and said it wont get here and that one was not available. So he said he can give me another one for same price but failed to mention that it only has a 60 day warranty until much later. Then he needed 1/2 down because the truck was over 10 years old. So now Im out a ton of money and then Travis says it came in late on Friday and it would be done in Saturday. I called Saturday a couple hours before they close and he says it should be done. I then get a call when its almost closing time and Travis tells me that its not the right transmission and there is nothing he can do. Now again the price has increased and still no truck. Do not take your vehicle to this place. They will rip you off and Travis and his staff has no clue what they are doing. Be advised.

They did a horrible job. Went back many times trying to get them to fix it, but they had no clue what they were doing. Found out by a professional diesel mechanic that they reused many of the torque bolts that needed to be replaced. This causing the engine to fail and now does not run because of it. Theyll do half the job charging full price. Save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else.

I came here with an appointment thinking I had one problem told by my dealership so I went looking for a cheaper price then after over an hour waiting they give me a laundry list of things I need fixed totaling well over 3k then I explained to the person I didnt have the funds and would seek a second opinion from the dealership just incase. Gives me a look and ask again why Im there then after making me feel even more inadequate proceeds to go to the back and tell the tech Im going to the dealership and I can hear them laughing threw the door...FYI not everyone knows a lot about cars and you as a business shouldnt make people feel uncomfortable for it ...I will never return and tell everyone I know who seeks auto work to stay away

Ive been meaning to write a review since I got an alignment at Sun Auto last month. Usually I dont like going to a car repair shop, I dont like trying to be upsold, but the guys here are great. That was my second time there. Tony, the manager, explained the tire situation to me, showed me the specs, and followed up with me. My car is driving smoother since that was done.Both times there wasnt a long wait time, it was within the hour, like they said. Clean shop. All in all, I was satisfied with the customer service. I will be going back for any other issues.
