Easily the worst experience I’ve ever had. Made an appointment for tuneup and oil change the week before. Dropped my car off in the morning and waited all day to hear. Finally I called at 3 and they had no idea who I was or what I was talking about. They said they would get it done by 5. Showed up at 5 and the guy at the counter was either drunk or high. They clearly went through my car, everything was pulled out of my glove box and center console and I guess they forgot to put it back. After driving for a couple of weeks my engine started smoking and check engine light came on…checked my oil (which they said they changed and charged me for) and it was empty. Nearly blew up my engine. I would literally push my car to the next shop rather than have anything done here again.

Im new to Austin and finding a honest auto and body shop for the repairs needed on my vehicle after being rear ended was not something I was looking forward to. Thu was awesome from the get go. He explained every detail of my repairs along the way. He also gave me a discount due to the length of time and other expenses I incurred during the time my vehicle was in his shop due to the insurance companies. I highly recommend 5Star Auto.

5 Star auto did a great job of replacing my ball bearings. Really honest and transparent. Great and quick service. No delays and they truly troubleshoot the issue. They even did an alignment before returning the vehicle to me. Will use them again.

Honest professional work that is a worth every dime. There are many shops here in Austin that Ive been serviced by, but this one has done work to several of my foreign vehicles that has lasted and comes with warranty. They stand by there work and do quality work and walks you through whole process, thats what separates them from the rest! Five stars from me all the way! Very friendly and professional, replaced my leaking power steering rack at half the cost the Honda dealership quoted - and had it done within the day.I will use them again and recommend them to everyone for sure!EDIT: I brought my car in for a routine inspection and they took care of it, didnt charge any diagnostic fee. These guys have bern servicing everything me and my two buddies own for over 4 years now (except Tesla and motos) and even our grown kids bring vehicles to them. On time, on budget, every time. Nice, polite and they remember you and your vehicles and keep great records. A bit of a drive but only a $20.00 Uber back and well worth it for what I save every time. Never have had a single problem with a repair or an estimate compared to actual bill.

This shop is amazing, having a history of bad experiences with other shops my experience with this one was a breath of fresh air. I read lots of reviews for many shops because I love my car and I needed someone who would respect my car like I do and I found it. I had wheels painted, a dent the size of a dinner plate removed and new wheels mounted with an alignment and they aced it with precision and speed! I’m excited to take bring my vehicles to this shop and highly suggest others do the same.

At 5 star, when I had my Mini, they always took care of me. They always made time for me to get in with my very busy schedule. Very accommodating to you and your time and their time mind you. A good price and place to help you keep your car running. This is the most honest and trustworthy mechanic I’ve ever been too, never doubted their word. I went through another mechanic, and even a dealership, and they just kept giving me the wrong diagnosis, and failing to fix the actual problem. 5star auto not only figured out the issue, but they managed to secure an affordable part. Prices are transparent, service is great, and they actually know what they are doing.

I completely regret going to another shop which was recommended by a co worker in the past. They did not do a great job compared to 5 Star Auto! Comparing my two cars, I wish I couldve taken my first accident to this shop! I got into a car accident and couldnt decide where to go that would cost an arm and leg. After past awful experiences, I am scared to pick another wrong place.Of all the car shops on Lamar, I highly recommend 5 Star Auto!!! They did an amazing paint job on my car! I am constantly blown away by the level of service and integrity these guys provide every time I take my car in, and they have become the only place I will take it. Unlike other mechanics who nickel and dime you every time they have to turn a screw, these guys will actually throw small services in for free (e.g. went in for a schedule maintenance, asked them if they could look at a dimple in the back bumper plastic...when i picked up the car it was fixed and they didnt even charge me!). They do that in addition to having the lowest prices Ive ever found in Austin. They will even text you photos of problems they find, explain whats going on, and tell you the options for fixing it.They chose their name well. I couldnt recommend them more highly.

Great Experience! They were able to change my oil, clean my air filter on cold air intake and the also let me know that my 2 front break pads needed replacing. Im a little late with this review but Long and them did an awesome job repainting the top half of my car considering the rough shape it was in. He even tried to work with me on the price some too. He also was able to FINALLY fix my leaking windows/doors, which myself and other shops have been trying to fix for years now.

If every business were as honest and amazing as this location, we wouldn’t even need reviews. I come here absolutely every time I possibly can. I live in Leander and I still make the trip. I would dare say that even if I lived in San Antonio, I would travel all of the way to North Austin to come here for auto repairs. If you come here more than once, the owners makes it a point to know who you are. I have also been able to get much more affordable pricing here than anywhere else and with QUALITY work! Others have recommended mechanics closer to me that they swear work for a good price but I have become a loyal customer: as long as I live in a hundred mile radius.

I have taken My 93 MR2 to Long and his guys at 5 star for a few months now for various things from wheel mounting/balancing, alignments, and even an A/C conversion. Each time the turn around was quick, the work was quality and mostly importantly the price was right. I mostly do my own mechanic work but its awesome to have a place that can do the stuff you dont really want, or have time, to do at a reasonable price.

I recently had an accident with a practically brand new Honda CRV (~2500 miles) and cringed at the thought of having to go through the process of getting my car repaired. I visited almost all of the bigger shops for estimates and each interaction just made me more wary of the process. This was an out-of -pocket repair so I was particularly price sensitive but I was also not willing to sacrifice on quality given the newness of the car.Some shops were warning me ahead of time about expected delays and also telling me that there could be potential cost overruns if they were to break something during the process (as a consolation, I was told that I would only have to pay cost if that happened...two places told me this). Neither of these things is what one would want to hear before dropping their car off for repair.I chose to visit 5 Star Auto based on its reviews which surprisingly was almost all glowing. I went in without an appointment and Long was the individual who helped me with my estimate. He approached it in a fair and practical way by trying to find ways that could potentially save me money without affecting the integrity of the job. I was pretty impressed by his approach, his estimate and the reviews that this place had gotten so I decided to take a chance. I dropped off my car on a Monday and was told that I would get a call later that day with an update. I actually received a call from Long later that day telling me that he believes that he can save me some money on this repair based on his initial findings.As you can imagine, I was pretty excited about the possibility of saving money but was still wary about potential surprises. Well, I wasnt wrong about the surprises as I got another when I was called on Wednesday telling me that my car was not only finished 2 days ahead of schedule but that he was able to save me about 15% off of the estimated cost. The car was cleaned prior to our pickup and to my delight, the car looked great. This was by far my best experience with an auto body repair shop (FYI, they do mechanical work too).

Theyre honest and fast. They charge parts at cost and you get mechanics worthy of any dealership without the exorbitant labor rates. Many times in the past when Ive had an issue or needed an oil change, I would call and be told to come in the same or next day when it was convenient for me and then would be helped right away. I usually deal with Long but both head mechanics know their stuff and dont try to upsell you like youll have to deal with elsewhere.

Noticed uneven tire wear when doing an oil change. Called 5 star auto and got a same day appointment for right after I got off of work. They took my truck back 5 minutes early, brought me out a diagnostic print out of everything wrong with my alignment and an estimate of all the costs. Work was done timely and I got a second print out of all the corrections and no surprises on the bill. Couldnt be happier.

I was referred by a friend after taking my car to Daves Automotive who wanted $5000!!! to fix the engine torque mount, power steering rack, valve cover gasket, and whole laundry list of fluid flushes and other unnecessary stuff on my 2003 Camry.Long (the owner) is straight up, no BS, no hustling for unnecessary repairs, or other nonsense that most auto shops try to sleaze hustle you for. I will be recommending this place to everyone I know.

I dropped off my car right before closing on a whim since my friend was picking up his car. My AC unit on my car wasnt blowing cold and had gotten an estimate elsewhere which totaled $900. I brought it to 5 Star and they were able to quote me the exact same job including labor and save me about $600. Im now a customer for life!! Sending everyone there!!

Honest, very reasonably priced and committed to fix only whats wrong. I have been bringing my Lexus here for almost five years and have everything replaced from AC, window regulators to a timing belt. DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE - There is a real reason that this place is called 5 Star.I bought a 2016 jeep patriot with 40k miles on it in 2017.Around 100k miles the brakes started squeaking badly between 0-5mph and 20-30mph. I had the rear brake pad, rotors, and calipers replaced at Kwik Kar in south austin for like ~$450 parts and labor, a complete rip off, and the front brakes were still squeaking.A coworker recommended to go see Long at 5 star. Not only did Long replace my front brake pads for ~$220 parts and labor, a fraction of what I was quoted elsewhere, but when minor squeaking continued, a result of a rusty brake cable, Long removed my break cable, soaked it in lubricant for a week, and I have not heard a single squeak in almost a month. If that wasnt enough, he charged me nothing to work on my car when I brought it back to him.The team at 5 star isnt trying to work anyone over, theyve been honest with me, addressing ongoing problems free of charge. I would give 6/5 stars if I could.

I have a SRT8 Charger that got hit two days after getting exhaust work here plus custom work done here which was absolutely beautifully done in a day!!! The next day someone hit my car.. long story short they replaced the bumper matched the paint SPOT on and went above and beyond other things that happened from it. It was extremely quick too.
