Had trouble finding someone when I first walked in, but thats because Michael was hard at work with another customer. (Just look for the Austin DiY t shirt)Michael was so friendly and got me into a spot, seamlessly transitioning between myself and the other client. We got my car up on the lift and I was able to get to work. What a great experience.

I cannot recommend this company enough. Before coming to Austin DIY, I had my cars AC checked out at another shop. The shop told me that it was going to cost me roughly 1,200 dollars for the repair; ~300 dollars for the part, ~700 for the labor, and ~200 for the Freon.I thought that seemed to be a little high so I took my car back and did some research. I ended up buying the part online for 70 dollars (less than 1/4 the other place quoted me). I then remembered Austin DIY and called them to see if they would like to do the work. They quoted me 400 dollars to install the part for me and that included evacuating and adding Freon to the AC system. So, $470 or $1,200, easy choice. The staff were friendly and professional. The only thing I would say about this place is that its a classic mechanics shop. Its a little dirty and you wont have salesmen in a polo shirt and slacks meeting you at the front. To me this is kind of a bonus as I would rather talk to the mechanic anyway instead of dealing with a salesman.Anyway, I would absolutely recommend (and have more than once) this shop to a friend or family.

I went to this shop to take advantage of the lifts available no where else in town. I self-installed a trailer hitch on our Subaru, and having a lift made it so much easier. The price is extremely reasonable for the service provided, especially with the tools available and the extra pair of hands if necessary for minor issues. Ill be back next time I need to do any small work on our vehicles that is in the realm of things I can handle on my own.

The only do-it-yourself shop in Texas. You can rent a lift or they will repair it for you. They’ve got all the latest Snap-on scan tools and expert mechanics that can diagnose your vehicle in minutes. They can even fix your camper, bus, or limousine! There’s about 8 mechanics that work there and each of them seem to be factory trained by different auto manufacturers. There’s a reason that all of their reviews are so good, because they are truly the best all around shop in Austin.

Great place to go when you need to work on your vehicle and a floor jack with stands wont cut it.Hourly rates for the lifts are reasonable and can make the job a fraction of what it would cost by taking it to the mechanics. The equipment on site is good for the jobs you need and the staff there know their stuff and can give proper assistance when youve got a problem that shouldnt be happening. Also have some extra parts you may need in the back that you can pay for.10/10 would work on (and probably will) my vehicle here again.

Youve never done a break job or an oil change until youve done it at a reasonable height while standing! All the tools and equipment that make it easiest for mechanic shops to work on your car is at your fingertips with Austin D.I.Y. Shop. They have professional mechanics to answer questions and in some cases even assist for free. And, if you get stuck and need a mechanic to take over for you during a more difficult repair, their time is metered in 15 minute increments so you dont have to pay for a whole hour when you only needed 15 or 30 mins of assistance. No good repair would be complete without at least one good mid project trip to the auto parts store... Austin D.I.Y. will even go get parts for you if you dont have what you need to complete a repair! Big shop prices can be inflated, wasteful, or downright rip offs. You have no clue what theyre doing back there or if they even did what they said they would! Get the satisfaction and peace of mind that only comes from doing things with your own 2 hands. If youre even mildly mechanically inclined or have the determination to see something through, beat the big shop prices and head over to Austin D.I.Y. Shop today! They offer 3 different types of bays and space is first-come-first-served. So, make sure to call ahead to ensure they will have the type of bay available that you need for your project. Good luck and happy repairs!

Great place to ring your car and work on it, say for example, you love in an apartment complex that...eh hem...frowns upon automotive repairs in the community parking lot, for example. Friendly staff, plenty of the random bigger specialty tools like engine hoist, Jacks, trans Jacks, etc, but for your own piece of mind, bring along your own toolbar with screwdrivers and sockets, only because the stuff they give you MIGHT be missing a few sizes or whatnot but otherwise, great place and much easier than using a scissor jack in your driveway to change a clutch. I did the clutch on my 2012 mazda3 in 1 full day and about 3 hours the next day, my total out of pocket was $360, and I had absolutely no help besides my BF bringing me food and my buddy coming along to sleep in my miata the 2nd day.
