I called Athens transmission when the trans went out on my 2016 Silverado . They quoted me a fair price and stuck with it and finished in a timely manner .They even recommended a towing service which showed up promptly and the tow bill to the shop was much less than I wouldve thought it would be .My entire experience was great , and I would recommend them to anyone needing repairs .

Everyone has taken one of those trips, just passing through, late in the evening and bam the car breaks down. It can almost ruin a great trip.We also have dinner plans 6 hours away that next day and if we cant get this fixed quickly the next day we are not going to make it.We had this exact scenario happen along US50. The car suddenly starts slowing down on its own, we limped off the highway onto a (what seemed) remote road and pulled into a parking lot. Instantly Im Googling towing services and repair facilities. I found that we were just a short distance from Athens Transmission. They were closed, but I made sure my vehicle was there waiting for them first thing in the morning.Patrick contacted me first thing, just before they opened. He said they should be able to take a look at it today. He asked if I was just passing through, which I was. I had a nice lady that was willing to drive us to and from our BNB and I didnt want to put her out. About 11am that morning Patrick called to let me know it was all finished and ready to pick up. I was stunned! I was already looking for car rentals or a Uhaul to drive home. He explained it was just a radiator hose and they had one in stock and were able to get me on the road right away.We are so grateful! I know they were busy, but they were able to squeeze us in and get us back on the road. What a team! We even made our dinner arrangements :)When I received the follow up a couple days later to check that all was well, I was even more impressed. A great team, friendly people, impressive service, and professional follow up. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Athens Transmission and their amazing service!

Athens Transmission was time efficient, honest, and inexpensive! Patrick was so nice and followed up multiple times to ensure my car was running properly! By far the best auto repair shop I’ve been to.

They are probably good at rebuiling transmissions but not good for getting parts. I called them to see if they could get the part I need and they Said they could and they would call me back when they got the part and I am still waiting for the call. To me that means they could not get the part so basically they lied to me.

Absolutely phenomenal! They are friendly, knowledgeable and did everything possible to make a bad situation tolerable. I highly recommend them.

Rarely have I been so impressed with an auto repair shop. My axle snapped and left me stranded, but they had me back on the road the same day. Everything was carefully explained, and I felt like they really cared about me and my situation. I never felt rushed or frustrated, and the work was completed before the time they said it would be. I will be a customer as long as they stay open!

My CVT transmission went out on my 2010 Nissan Maxima a few months ago (right around 100,000 miles, which was an even bigger bummer). You never want to hear this news, as it is an extremely costly repair. Essentially, the cost to build a new transmission was about half of the cars value, but it had to be done. Nissan apparently has had problems with these CVT transmissions going out at low mileage.Patrick and his team were able to build a new transmission within about a week, at a reasonable price. The car has been running like a top ever since, so I am grateful for their good work! Patrick even texted me afterwards to make sure my car was running smoothly. The warranty is not the greatest at 12 months or 10,000 miles (whichever comes first), but theres not much I can do about that. Would recommend to any struggling college student around the Athens area! Patrick and his team will take good care of you.

Honestly unbeknownst to me I believe I had brought them a problem child! My 94 Chevy Suburban have been in the shop and out of a shop for transmission problems. The 4 l60e is noted as one of the best Transmissions out and practically bulletproof if done correct. The guys at Athens Transmission didnt hesitate to take on the job and kept up with me as far as what was happening with the vehicle. The owner calling me letting me know that they had it all back together took it for a drive something didnt seem right so they tore back out. The man told me we will make sure we get it right sir! So I waited and few more days went by and he called me and let me know my vehicle was ready to go. I picked it up and I have not been happier since transmission works as well if not better than a new one. Thanks a lot guys because of you my 94 will roll on for a hundred thousand or more! Unbelievably awesome service. Went in to get a shifter cable replaced. Turned out it didnt need it, and they replaced a bushing for free. Even told us to just invest any more money in our current car and just get a new one. Their honesty and professionalism are beyond reproach and well be going back next time we need something fixed.

My transmission went out and I’m not from this area originally. I have no family and no friends in this world except my wife. The guys at Athens transmission treated me like I was someone they knew and actually cared about. I do -not- submit reviews often and usually it’s for negative things, but the way I was treated by AT was honestly top of the line. When I dropped my car off I was called the very next day with multiple options to get my car going. He told me the prices and aspects of each option and his opinion on the matter and WHY he felt that way about it. I chose the “middle” option which was in my price range and seemed to suit my needs. When the work was done I picked up my car and it runs great and came with a 1 year/12,000mi warranty. I’d like to give all the details but let’s just say that I had some unique issues that I expected to be sent down the road with, but instead I was treated like one of his friends. If you are in this area with transmission issues and want the job done right and not be overcharged then go to Athens Transmissions and save yourself some time and grief.

I brought my truck here expecting to hear bad news that my clutch was bad and needed expensive repair. Instead, they told me my clutch was fine but all that was needed was an engine tune-up, which they did for a very fair price. My truck now runs well and I am pleased to recommend them.

The best shop in the athens area, you can not go wrong with this company, they treat you like family, they tell you whats wrong with your vechile and if you dont understand it they break it down bit by bit for you so you can understand with out discrimanation towards you not being knolodgeable about mechanical. there prices are extreamly fair and they work with you to the best of there ablitly, dont got to alvis auto on Columbus rd, or any dealership like donwood, we brought our nissan to donwood who we bought it from and they said they didnt know what was wrong with the car but there was something deffently wrong, we then brought it to alvis who said the same thing, we then brought it to tayloy nissan/honda on columbus rd and they said the same thing, we finally went to athens transmission and they figured it out in a 5 minute test drive, we needed a new transmission, they offered to get us one but we went to pa and picked one up because someone owed me a favor and i got it dirt cheap, athens transmission put the new trans in for me and my fiance and the car was perfect, they did it all for hundreds less then any other shop would do it for to, plus there ASE certified and they rebulid transmissions and do custom rebulids as well, i will go to no other shop as long as i live in ohio. they have done our nissan, my toyota pickups new stage 2 clutch and the timing cover gasket oil pan gasket and valve cover gasket, they have worked on the rear end of my truck to. they can do it all, i trust them with all of my vechiles and for my whole life i have to say they are the only shop i can say that for. If you want a A+ company with people who care about there work and put pride into it then this is the place to go. forget the dealerships, they also dont try to upsell work, they will tell you if they see something wrong with your car or truck but wont pressure you to get it done, i see them more like family with they way they treat me.Kyle Ohlemeier
