Not only did they quickly diagnose all the issues right away, Allen the owner and Charlie the office manager checked in daily and provided in full detail from start to finish. I really appreciated the time & care these gentlemen spent on my car while saving me a ton of money. I will always pick quality and these men delivered! Thank you so much Allen & Charlie. Had a problem with my garage door and I knocked off my Antenna/Radar that sits on top of my car. Went to the dealer and they wanted $495.00 to fix it. I then remember the guys at AAMCO that fixed my Transmission and my wife’s Air conditioning. I asked if they ever fixed one of these radar things and Charlie said they will take a look. I’m telling you it looks like new and works great at half the price of the dealer. It is truly a TOTAL Car Care establishment.

Highly recommend AAMCO to everyone. They did a great job on my Mazda 626. They worked on my transmission 3 years ago and is still running like a champ. Since then my car has been to Mexico 4 times with no issues. Needless to say my car has over 200,000 miles and would have never imagined it would still be on the road. Everyone who works there are nice and respectful. I appreciated them telling me what exactly was wrong with my car and not giving me bs of things that are “wrong” that other places tend to say to woman. They gave me options and worked with my situation at that time. I appreciate their work and will continue to use them in the future as well as continue to recommend them. AAMCO is open for business during the covid19 pandemic. We brought our van in for brakes. They took care of us quickly and had the van back in one day. We felt very comfortable and safe with Charlie at the front counter. They did a great job and the brakes feel better now than when we bought it new. They are reasonably priced. So if your needing transmission or brake work done, stop by and see Charlie!

We have been bringing our cars here for routine oil changes, repairs, and brake work for over 20 years. They always perform the work in a professional manner. Charlie in customer service always explains the work, and gives you a fair price. My Ford F-150 was having a whining sound I thought maybe it was the transmission. I brought it in and was dealing with Charlie.I was led to believe the fluid was low and all the fluid needed to be changed I was quoted a price of $400 over the phone.When I got there to pick up my truck the price was $150 more then what was quoted.I picked up my truck at closing time as soon as I got down the street the problem was not fixed it was still whining obviously they did not take it for a test drive.

My husband & I took our green Honda Civic in to AAMCO today because the break light came on. Got a call from Charlie a couple of hour later telling us there was no trouble with the break, it was just a dirty sensor causing the break light to go off, they cleaned it out, no charge. WOW! We just couldnt blv it. Other shady shops would have taken the opportunity & charged us an arm & a leg for nothing. Charlie & his techs are very honest, they tell u exactly they way it is, so we highly recommend them to any1.

I took my Toyota Tacoma truck because It was shaking 30 to 40 mph Charly the manager told me it was a problem with the transmission converter and gave me the estimated $3300. I accepted the price I trusted that they were honest but it turned out to be a thief. This is for you Charly You graduated with thief honors. I hope your kids dont follow your example. Following the story, the truck did work garbage after they gave me the truck I had to return four times for different Transmission problems. They couldnt fix the initial problem. I hope your family read this message and realize how fraud you are

I had my work vans transmission rebuilt by the Arlington Heights store and I cant say enough about the great service and quality of work. Charlie the manager responded quickly with an estimate and the work was completed in a timely fashion. Al the owner was also very helpful in the process. I would highly recommend them anytime. Then shortly afterwards I needed my radiator repaired and once again I received terrific service.

William B. May 18, 2019 Charlie did a great job on getting the pricing down and completing efficiently on a transmission service. Also was able to address brake issues with a discount at same time. Did what they said they would and no price surprises is the basis of my recommendation.

Its fine. They charge about the same as a dealership. Which in my opinion is overpriced because i know how to do the work and what the equipment and parts cost. The parts cost no more than $50 and the equipment which they should be using regularly no more than $500. So they probably are making a killing judging by what hey charge.Also ill say something about transmission and car repairs. No matter how much youll fix a broken car there will always be something wrong with it. I dont essentially think its poor craft. Its more like if a car breaks it breaks and you can fix whatever but it will still be broken. My 2 cent. Just maintain your car in the first place.

I used this place as a second opinion and got the same result. However they were a bit more expensive than the first place but Charlie worked with me by using coupons and rebates which lowered the price to the first quote I received. The owner also gave me rides back and forth to work so I didnt have to spend money on a taxi. I highly recommend them, they seem very honest and caring about your needs. They also have ways to help you get credit so you dont have to pay out of pocket right away.

I needed a lot of work done on my car but only did everything but my brakes because I don’t have all the money in the world. However, Charlie wouldn’t stop harassing and insisting that we do the brakes even though we told him we couldn’t. To me it now makes more sense to me that they only want your money because they were gonna charge me about $400 for the tune up and I got it done for less than half the price somewhere else. One other thing is that I guess it’s okay for them to test drive the car a little but the other employee that test drove my car got really nervous when I told him that was my car he was driving. So if my any means you HAVE to go here, make sure it’s minor work and less work. Don’t go in having to fix a lot of stuff.

I had an incredible experience of honesty and professionalism with Al and Charlie. Short story is a dealership diagnosed my car with needing a new transmission for $3,000, or rebuilt one for $1,500, I took it to AAmco because I figured I would save a few bucks vs dealership. Al and Charlie called me that my car was ready, when I asked about the cost Their response blew me away nothing wrong with your transmission it was just a cable, cost $60 I love doing business with men of such integrity.Mario Mancino

Needed transmission pulled and rebuilt in an old RV. This AAMCO was recommended to me and was one of the only places that agreed to take it in for work. Worked quickly considering the circumstances.

I brought my 2011 BMW X5 here to get a new transmission. They swapped it with an insurance cut-out. Thats fine, but they did a horrible job installing it. After they put in the transmission, they did not program the transmission to the car, so car revved very high for no reason. I brought it back to them the next week and they said its an engine problem and theyre not responsible for it. So I took it to the dealer and they charged more money to program the transmission to the cars computer and everything worked fine. I would stay away from this place and not use them for anything. They are dishonest to the max and have horrible customer service. They did not even reimburse me for the dealerships work that they did not perform.

I LET MY TRANS FLUID GET PRETTY LOW ONMY SAAB TILL A POINT IT WOULDNT MOVE, SO THE FELLAS HOOKED ME UP WITH NEW HOSES COOLING SYSTEM TRANSMISSION FLUID FOR A DECENT PRICE.. ... I am a first time customer of AAMCO of Arlington Heights. Charlie and his staff were able to diagnose the problem on my car efficiently and order the parts in for me! Dont let these 5 star reviews fool you. I noticed that almost all of the 5 star reviewers ONLY had 1 review--this place. Also, they ALL mentioned Charlie. People, please read the bad reviews as this is one of the worst shops to take your car. My car has been at this shop for 3 weeks and counting. They raised the price twice to an extra $1,500 since they gave me the original price. They say it should only take 2 days to get everything done, but they rarely answer the phone when you call to check on your car. They finally call at 5 p.m, at the end of the work day and wont leave a message if you cant answer. They are supposed to close at 5:30 but if you call right back, they refuse to pick up the phone. I havent even gotten my car back so I cant comment on whether or not everything is even done right, but I have been so unsatisfied with this service, that I had to review this place now. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!

Avoid this place at all cost. Charlie the manager is a scam artist. Went in with a free coupon for a check engine light. Left 6 hours later with a bill of $190.00. No service was done on my car. After all this was told I had a bad camshaft position sensor and 3 bad motor/transmission mounts. Said they would do the service for another $600.00. Trust me, stay away don’t throw you money away. I’ve already filed a complaint with the BBB about their scam. Terrible!!!

If you have a transmission problem stay away on this shop. They will charge you the unknown cost. I read Ms Liz Kirby’’ testimony it was the very the same situations.I have learned now that transmission rebuild is not that complicated. I went to “ Suburban Transmission in Des Plaines “ for only 2 days 1/2 my transmission is done and until now is running really smooth the same as Aamco fixed . And I only spent $2200 hundred including tax.

Ive been taking my cars to AAMCO Arlington Hts. for a number of years now. They were able to do just about all maintenance I have needed on my cars at very reasonable prices. Since Aamco is a transmission specialist, I had once expected them to suggest at some time or another that one of my very high-mileage vehicles would need a new transmission. But never. They only did the work needed! I especially enjoyed the service I received from Charlie Gardner at the front counter. He always was concerned about solving the problem and always communicated successfully to his mechanics about what was needed.

I have a 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid and it broke down. I originally thought that it was my transmission because the car would not shift into another gear therefore I had to get it towed to this aamco. It was no problem at all getting the towed there and they even checked the transmission out for free to see what was wrong. Turns out that it was my axel that broke and a day later my car was fixed and the keys were back in my hand. I really enjoyed the service that this place offered and will be back if there is any more problems with my car.

If you have 3 weeks to wait for your vehicle & them NOT to take care of your vehicle this is your place. Damage done! Brought my vehicle in for mechanical work & it left needing body work! They said they are sure it didnt happen there, but we know it wasnt there before bringing it there! Grease all inside, very sloppy! Never, and still til today, NO call back to any left messages! Very poor Customer Service but the owner. NOT highly recommended! Nothing but Excuses! Excuses! Excuses!

I was extremely pleased with the service I received at Aamco transmissions in Arlington Heights. They diagnosed not only a transmission but a radiator also. Even with a huge workload they gave me quick service and I was back on the road in no time. Iwould recommend Aamco for a top qialitytransmission or any engine issue.

My daughters car needed a trans...first estimate was a reasonable bid(approx$1700) to be completed in 5-7 days. Within three days, we got a call saying they had JUST pulled down the trans to see that there were other problems...the estimate went to $2600. I begged to get the job done within the promised 7 days, bc I would be going on vacation and she needed her car for work. Response: Theres always Uber! Sarcasm I did not need. They found yet another problem with the final bill being $3300 and they kept the car for a total of 11 real days and 8 business days: HUGE hardship for my family! Within 24 hours of having the car back, the Check Engine light was back on and the turning radius was tight and squeaky even though they claim to have redone the suspension and rack/pinion. Charlie had his guys check it and said nothing is wrong with the engine. When my daughter complained about the exact problem (squeaking when turning to go into reverse for parking, etc...) he told her, well just dont turn the wheel so hard when you go into reverse ...She gave up after feeling belittled. The best he could do for her was turn off the CHECK ENGINE light! That was a little over a week ago. Tonight, I had to jockey cars in our driveway necessitating I drive my daughters car; I immediately noticed THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN and the steering is TIGHT. I will be back tomorrow AGAIN, this time demanding satisfaction for the bill and aggravation we have gotten over the past 4 weeks! As nice as Charlie seems most of the time, I am really confused with the run around I feel we have gotten...

Ive been coming to Aamco for years with my cars. The quality is always excellent, The service is always prompt, and quite frankly the cost is ALWAYS less than expected. I wouldnt take my car anywhere else.

Transmission went out on my car. Unfortunately my car is every transmission shops nightmare(or wet dream depending on your perspective). They quoted me almost 10k for a remanufactured install. $1200 just in labor(10.5 hrs book time). I found my own transmission and had a family friend with a local shop do the work instead but the owner Alan tried hard to earn my business. Would have given 4 stars but when I went to pick up my car they had closed up shop 30 min early and I had to beg and plead with the mechanic to get my car out. Even then, I had to pay cash and didnt get a receipt.

I would suggest reading this to the end: My shifter had a broken link which could be replaced but they said they had to change the whole system which made the cost a lot higher. Since the car was not drivable After they had opened it up it would have cost me more to pay for towing and the labor they had done on opening it so I unwillingly decided to do what they had said. After the job was done I figured they had messed up the shifter light and the stick support. I showed that to Charlie the same day and he said they’ll take care of it but they dragged me there twice after that just to say it was not their fault!!! I don’t know weather to call em scams or just no customer service.

So 5 times i took my Town and Country to Zeigler Chrysler in Schaumburg, after spending $1400 on trans repairs and tune ups the car still would stall as I would exit the Tollways...Took numerous videos of this happening over the last year, and showed them to John and Bill at Zeigler, and they agreed there was a problem, but couldnt fix it. The extended warranty had 1 month left on it...Frustrated, i tried this Aamco shop. I showed the videos to Charlie the Service Manager and his trans specialist Gino and they would test drive and evaluate the car. The next day Charlie called told me the trans did in fact need rebuilding,that it was the problem and could be repaired and the cost would be $3000. And oh yes, Charlie had arranged the cost to be done under the extended warranty policy. Now looking back over the last year I should have brought this car to the transmission experts. Have had the car back and driven it many, many miles without a problem,Cant say enough good things about Charlie, Gino and their entire staff. Thank you guys again, I will always recommend your shop....

I wish I was able to give aamco 0 stars, however, 1 is as low as Google allows me to go. My experience with aamco has been not only stress inducing, but painful, to be honest. It all started when my transmission blew on the express way in the middle lane. We took my 07 Camry to aamco with high hopes. The manager, Charlie, seemed to be very helpful and despite his inability to answer the phone, decided to help us out. The fix ended up taking weeks, but I am more than willing to wait in order to avoid another issue. We ended up paying approximately $3000 for the job, but I was ecstatic to have my car up and running again so the price tag was worth it. Well, at least until 2 MONTHS LATER when my TRANSMISSION DIED AGAIN. As frustrated as I was, I know that things happen and did not want to put the blame on aamco right away, until I was informed that when the trans died the first time, aamco decided to cut corners with me and not replace the broken axle, preventing the car from moving. During this time, my cars dashboard was also lighting up like a Christmas tree, which Charlie told me was normal. After the car was fixed AGAIN, I was told I could come pick my car up at the location and that my key would be under the floor mat. It was not. My dad and I had made the trip out only to be let down by the incompetence of Charlie and his fellow employees yet again. And as much as I wish this couldve ended there, 3 months later, my cars dash lit up again. We took the car to aamco for the 3rd time when it started trembling at every stop light to the point where I felt too unsafe to be in it. Charlie told us it was not a trans issue but an engine issue and that we could comepick it up tomorrow. I waited overnight, and today I went back to aamco to get my car as far away from these people as humanly possible. But when we went to get it, Charlie did not know where my car was. It took 30 MINUTES FOR THEM TO FIND IT. and when I got in....the exterior was not only covered in bird excrements, BUT THERE WAS BIRD POOP ON MY PASSENGER SEAT. I fail to comprehend how aamco remains in business but I WARN YOU TO STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS YOU CAN. save yourself from the time,Money, and aggravation that has been wasted on this disgrace of a business.

5 stars all around.i walked in aamco Arlington heights in a bad mood. i spoke with charlie and after about a 10 minute conversation and a quick easy and FREE diagnosis i walked out knowing exactly what my problem was. my transmission was officially dead. 5-6 days later i received a call from charlie letting me know that my truck was finished and i could pick it up. i was getting of work at the same time they closed and he even waited 15-20 minutes after closing time for me to come and pick it up!! amazing customer service. as for the price i (obviously) shopped around and aamco was one of the best priced! and with a reputable name like aamco i expected nothing but the best....375 miles down the road my truck shifts like i have never felt before!! perfect!!GREAT PRICEGREAT WORKGREAT WARRANTYall in all i give charlie and the gang an A+ and 5 stars all the way.thanks to everyone involved in helping me get back on the road!!keith

I stopped at this Aamco for a brake job and to see if they could identify a terrible noise my car was making while driving. Charlie, the customer service mgr was who took care of me. He was amazing! Extremely friendly and took time to explain exactly what procedures will be taken. I left my car overnight and was told Id receive a call before any work was started. The next morning Charlie called and gave me an estimate for the brakes and wheel bearings (turns out thats what the noise was.) I authorized the work and was told i could pick up car around 5p.m. When I got there i was surpised to see the bill was actually LESS than what the estimate was! I usually dread having to take my car into the shop for work, but this was definitely a pleasant experience. I highly recommend this Aamco and make sure you ask for Charlie!!!

After having a horrible experience at Grossinger, I took my car to get checked out at AAMCO. I was referred by a friend and my experience couldnt have been better! They checked out my timing belt issue and front breaks for free. They got it fixed for me in a day, and I totally trust Charlies judgement about what work needs done on my car. I will be bringing it back the next time I got an issue.

Very bad!!!!!!!!!! Be carful! They just to want take money from the people. They told me that i need to change some part in my car, and I already changed exactly same part one week ago. They ridiculous!

Waste of money

I was going to have my transmission rebuilt here but no one came to the front desk, even after I called into the shop. Oh well, if theyre to busy they probably dont need my business.
