Very pleasant experience. I love the fact that I could schedule the appointment online. Everyone was very friendly and helpful at the location and the doctor was great and didnt belittle me at all for sleeping in my contacts (although she did advise against it). I will definitely be back!

Very unfriendly staff both, on the phone and in personYou can go there if you like being spoken to like you are a little soldier and they are generals. 2 more customers at the whole store (not busy at all-more employees than customers), but they are telling me that I had to make an appointment to get pricing information on a pair of glasses; then they tell me, alright we will take you. Ive read bad reviews, but they are in my vision insurance network, so I went. Id rather go out of network and pay more than I go back there. They made me understand that they do not need my business.

For SVS Ann Arbor store in Westgate: I have had the most terrible experience with them in my entire life. I bought two pairs of eyeglasses from them. The first one was very uncomfortable to wear and then I bought the second one. However, the second one was broken within six months and so I later went to their store to ask them to fix it. Both pairs of eyeglasses are quite expensive, over $300 for each after the insurance. I paid $80 for fixing. You know what? After visiting their store several times, they gave me one that was already broken. They then promised me to give me a new one, but I had to wait. I then waited for another two months and called them several times after two months, but they told me that there was no new one available! This was almost half a year since I visited them for fixing. To be generous, I still wanted to give them another chance to do better service, so I said that I could buy a new pair of eyeglasses there. They claimed to nicely offer me some discounts for that. Then I made an appointment for an eye exam. I was 13 minutes late because the weather was cold and the traffic was a lot and I booked a taxi to get there: I live in a place quite far from their store! But they told me that they could not do the eye exam for me because I was late. What a good excuse! I remember that when I did my first eye exam there, they asked me to wait for longer than half an hour! That means we customers should wait for their doctor, while their doctor would never wait for their customers! Such a double standard and very unprofessional group of people who are offering the worst service! I cannot be more disappointed and angry with them!

Went in for a standard eye exam. Had to wait 20 minutes after scheduled appointment time before I was seen by the optometrist, but both the opticians (I unfortunately cannot remember their names) were absolutely lovely and extremely helpful. The optometrist was very pleasant, explained each test thoroughly, and listened to my concerns during my eye exam. Only reason for 4/5 was the significant wait time after my scheduled appointment time, but other than that, I had a wonderful experience.

I went there to get my glasses repaired and the staff was nice initially, then one young lady got quite patronizing and made me feel bad for walking into the store. There is a sign on thee we door that says Max occupancy of 10, including me there was only 6 people in the store. This young lady behind the counter (mind you she never even stood up to address me) said “you know it’s by appt only we have a maximum occupancy” incredibly rudely. If it’s by appt only, you can control the flow of customers in the store by locking the front door. Just a thought. Second thought don’t make a customer feel bad for walking in to get service, won’t ever go back now.....

Had a PHENOMENAL experience here. The doctor is excellent and super friendly. The staff was so inviting and helpful. Did not make me feel like I was a burden for trying on a bunch of glasses (even though they have to be sanitized after every try-on). Everyone took extreme care in cleaning and sanitizing the area.Definitely recommend.

I liked this location. They were very friendly and accommodating when I tried on about 20 different frames. The only that kinda bothered me was getting my blood pressure taken in the exam room. Ive never heard of SVS doing that before.

I stopped to try on frames quickly with my son and did not realize that you had to make an appt. When I walked in, no one was in there and they told me I had to call to make an appt. I told her we just wanted to look real quick and they wouldn’t even let us look. Again, no one was there and it wasn’t as if they looked at their calendar. Would have been nice to let us look for 5 minutes.

The staff is phenomenal - very friendly, helpful, and good-natured. The optometrist is thorough and very nice. I had a bit of a wait before I was called back, but thats expected for any doctors appointment so I wasnt too bothered by it. Plus it gave me time to look over frame options, of which there is a decent selection.

I made an appointment to obtain safety glasses to protect me as a frontline worker. I was told that because my prescription was expired, I could not proceed, per svs policy. I explained that I would like to proceed with the understanding that the prescription was old. I declined an eye exam because of the pandemic. However, I was told again, that this was against policy. I left without safety glasses. I am disappointed that svs policy is not accommodating to the current conditions. I have taken many steps to reduce my potential exposure to covid in order to keep myself and the community safe. I am disappointed that I could not obtain glasses to help me with that initiative. While I understand that svs would like me to have the best product possible for my vision, the policy just resulted in me continuing to use my “old” prescription glasses and a loss in a sale from the store. I hope that svs considers a more patient-centered policy that takes into account different comfort levels and needs. I plan to purchase safety glasses elsewhere and obtain an eye exam when Covid rates are lower.

I went early for my appointment because I wanted to look at some frames, and they were able to move up my appointment so I could get out earlier! Very helpful in choosing frames that look good since I have no fashion sense. They even noticed my current frames were loose and tightened them without asking! My glasses arent falling off all the time anymore. Great service.

I went into the Westgate location to look at frames for my mother the office was slightly busy however I was not greeted after standing by the frames and had to stand at the desk and wait while the staff spoke amongst themselves. My mother has Medicaid and SVS is a Medicaid provider so I asked to see the Medicaid approved frame section. They pointed to a pile of crates at the back of the store... how humiliating would it be if my mother was there with me to see this interaction. In a society where people are judged and shamed for being on government assistance a Medicaid provider treats their own patients as second class. They weren’t even on the wall hung up to be displayed. Made me sad. They should do better to make all patients feel comfortable and valued like the SVS in Ypsilanti. Will not be buying anything from the Westgate location. Disappointed 😔

Showed up 10 minutes late due to football traffic and was told the doctor could no longer see me. I have never been to a business such as this with no grace period, understanding, and care to try to rectify the situation. My family and I have given a lot of business to SVS and the way this situation was handled is very upsetting. Instead of showing some understanding or saying something like, “If the doctor has a cancellation, we can call to let you know,” I was told “well..what do you want me to do??” by the receptionist. Incredibly rude, unprofessional, and lack of customer service.

The optometrist was very professional and personable, but the customer service upfront was terrible. There was a mix-up with my insurance, and the girl helping me (Stacey) seemed really upset that I wanted to sort it out (and not have to pay an extra $135). She refused to speak with the insurance representative I was on the phone with and asked her co-worker to assist me. Her co-worker got it sorted out, and my benefits were fine. However, I will never return to this store again because of the attitude of the first employee.

Svs vision on Maple/Stadium in Ann Arbor, was friendly and helpful. The glasses took two weeks to get. (Guess thats about average for holiday season). I missed work due to the non professional way to communicate the phone doesn’t work when you call them my hours are gone while they may still work there hours so that let nothing to the lady . Even if the number i gave two years ago changed that shouldn’t be a problem why have a number on the site that doesn’t connect to where the place is for someone to talk to why does it say they are closed give a few options then the voicemail hangs up i feel that is truly unfair and unacceptable as being a business I’ve never dealt with a situation like this. Thanks for wasting my time.

I liked them when I was there to get glasses, however, my insurance only allows new glasses every 2 years so I am not going to them until next year (and maybe not at all after my latest experience). They are calling me 1 or 2 times EVERY day and leaving me automated voice mails that tell me I need to call for an appointment. This has been going on for two weeks now. STOP. STOP. STOP. I blocked your number so now you wont get me back ever.

I have not been a customer at SVS vision, but I will be next time I need new glasses. I just walked in to ask if anyone made replacement soft covers to go on my glasses frame round my ears, mine had cracked and exposed a sharp part of the metal frame. Coco removed my old covers and put on new ones, cleaned my glasses, and gave them back to me at no charge. Such kindness is rare, and I am truly grateful.

Bad Experience - BewareI picked up my new sunglasses and one eyelash touched the lens. They tried adjusting multiple times over the next several weeks, but to no avail. Finally, Id had enough and just wanted my money back, but I was past the 45-day return window--even though it was a recurring problem since the first day. The last time they adjusted it, an optician said she figured out the problem, my prescription on that eye was stronger and my lens was thicker on that side. She said there was nothing she could do about it--even though they sold me the glasses knowing full well what prescription needed to fit into the frames. She was content with having a dissatisfied customer. Why didnt she figure out the problem while I was in the 45-day window to get my money back? I had bought a second pair with the same prescription. Why didn’t I have a problem on that pair? It was only on the sunglasses. I left, disgruntled, and looked up how to fix the problem on Google. I found the solution and did it myself--no thanks to their trained staff. The staff is very friendly and will certainly tell you what you want to hear to get you in for the exam and to buy glasses, but beware afterwards. If you go there for an adjustment, once it’s your turn don’t expect they will focus on you. They’ll greet new customers, answer the phone, and just leave you sitting there. It’s too bad they don’t understand customer service is not just about being friendly, but delivering quality products and services that satisfy customers. And, if your glasses need more than one adjustment, use your money back guarantee before its too late! Do yourself a favor, find a reputable place and go there instead.

I was somewhat disappointed by the customer service I received when I went in, based on all the great reviews I chose to try this place. I walked in and was greeted right away, but after asking a few questions I felt like I was a bother and they didnt want to help me. They just pointed at some frames across the store but never came out from behind the counter to offer any assistance, Ive worn glasses for over 30yrs of my life, so this isnt a new thing for me, in the past all the opticians have always helped and guided me with my selection and discuss options even if I was just looking. I asked a few more questions about price, but again just felt like they were giving me straight curt answers but never asking me what I was looking for and I was more of an annoyance. There were at least 3-4 people working that day and only 1 was helping another customer, so it wasnt as if they were all busy helping other customers. Regardless, I felt like I was unwelcome there so after looking around a bit more and trying on a few more frames I chose to leave. They did say have a good day as I left. So they werent rude but they didnt seem to want to come out from behind the counter to help me. So for the friendly greeting I received when I walked in and the good bye at the end, I wont give them a terrible rating but I definitely didnt come back to purchase my eyeglasses when I got my prescription the following week.

Waited for my exam based on friends recommendation. Got the exam...Doc was good but when I was fitted for my glasses, the regular tech was busy. So an apparent sub/ clerk was asked to do the measurement for bifocal/ regular lense. She mismarked where the bifocal should be ( too low) and they cut the lense to that spec. If I dont hold my glasses high on tje bridge of my nose...I cant use the bifocal...too low cut on the lense. Looked like a production line to me...getm in and out asap.

Horrible. I called the Ypsilanti store, ordered a replacement pair and they came in just fine. When I went to pick up in Ypsilanti, I found that the Google info for mapping was incorrect. Used address on old office sign, it sent me 15 minutes the wrong way. Finally go back, parking was horrible. I go inside the only svs store Ive ever dealt with just to find out they were sent to the Ann Arbor store. NOONE ever at any point told me that. So now Ive wasted an hour of time, gas and have to still go pick them up.
