A superb store! I would give it ten stars! My wife and I found out about this establishment on the internet. We visited for the first time this afternoon. Part of what attracted us was their website. At the store we were greeted warmly and treated with respect and professionalism. Mr. Paul Ralph, Owner/CEO, and Miss Maddie Ralph, CEO, we’re helpful informative. He was very fair and on the price when you are buying a watch that is 15k you want to feel good about it , not like you are getting taken advantage of and that is what Longs was trying to do. Designing a custom engagement ring for my wife (with free sizing), getting my own wedding ring, cutting off my wifes ring when it got stuck after pregnancy (and resizing it-talk about stressful!), replacing watch batteries, fixing one of my watches, and they do so much more. Love these folks. Wouldnt go anywhere else.

The owner treated me with total disrespect, by not answering questions I had and only after pressing him for answers did he reluctantly answerer some of my inquirings all the time working on other pieces of Jewelry This place remines me of a Pawn Shop My advise is to avoid this place and do your shopping at Finks or Reeds or any other Jewelry Store you are treated like a customer, not like an interruption in their day.

Excellent customer service. I recently had my battery replaced on my watch by another location (high end), went home and cleaned it in warm water and a tooth brush. In five minutes condensation formed on the inside. I went into Madisons Jewelers and was promptly helped. After five minutes, the watch came back clear. Phil (Owner) informed me of the back was not tightened down enough, and not to submerge water resistant watches. No charge at all!Thank You

Had these people replace my omega Seamaster battery a few years ago. Just took it into a shop that works mostly on Omega’s in Raleigh North Carolina and they tell me that the internals look like a five-year-old went at it with a hammer; going to have to buy a new movement from Omega for $500. I am pretty confident that they aren’t lying to me here at this store which means that the last people who opened it up wrecked it. Which would be Madison jewelers. Somebody who’s going to disrespect a nice watch like that during a battery change shouldn’t be trusted to sell anything over $10. AVOID

I visited Madison Jewelers as a result of a recommendation from my parents. They always felt welcome and received excellent service. I felt the same when I visited. Madison Jewelers purchased my old gold, repaired my favorite gold necklace and modified it to be more versatile. Phil (owner) is honest & a man of his word!I recently needed to sell some gold and silver coins. My wife and I called around all over Hampton Roads and the Richmond area. Then my wife found Madison Jewelers. At first, I was skeptical due to all the other calls I had made and I thought would the owner do a bait and switch. When I got there after my 1-hour drive to my surprise Phil greeted me with a warm welcome. After looking over the things I brought he indeed gave me the price we discussed over the phone.To say a little about Phil’s, character. I had also brought a watch to sell. Since the watch needed a new battery Phil was kind enough to install one at no cost to me. After discussing with Phil, the probability that my watch wasn’t highly sought after I decided to keep it. Upon leaving I handed the watch back to my wife and she noted he actually had taken the time to set the correct time on the watch. I went to Madison to sell couple of old rings I have no use for and the sales lady ( older lady ) offered me $57 which I thought was very low and I asked her if she can go up to $60 and she said I can go $55 which I didn’t think it was funny. So I declined of course and went to another store not far from Madison and they offered me $85 and I was pleased with that. So if ur selling old jewelry just do your homework and shop around before accepting the first offer.

The store is conveniently located in central kempsville. When you first walk in youre greeted by two dogs that dont jump, bark, or even lick you! They just want to be pet which is awesome, you feel at home. The price I got for adding a loose diamond to be the center piece for an engagement ring was awesome and kept me under budget. I was searching for an engagement diamond/ring and had gone to several different jewelry stores prior to going to Madison Jewelers. As I walked in I was greeted by Phil (the store owner), staff, and two friendly dogs. The store was clean, cozy, and had a homey feel. Phil was very personable, friendly, and polite.I was a novice about diamond information, so Phil took the time to thoroughly explain all the details about diamonds and brought out loose diamonds to take a look at. He was sure to stay in the price range that I was comfortable with and did not try to pressure me one way or another. He took the time to point out aspects (clarity, inclusions, etc.) of all of the diamonds I was interested in and helped me compare against the diamondsI am not an impulse buyer and it takes me a long time to decide on something to purchase, especially something as expensive as an engagement ring. So over several months I revisited Madison Jewelers multiple times to continue to look at the diamonds and decide on the right one. Each time, Phil was fantastic and took his time re-show and re-explain the diamonds I was interested in. Phil was very patient each time and did not try to pressure me into purchasing anything until I was ready. I finally made a decision on a diamond that was everything I was looking for, for a very fair price. All of the diamonds Phil showed me are GIA certified and he has the certification information for each diamond to review. I enjoyed working with Phil throughout the entire process. He is a down to earth guy, genuine, funny, and respectful. I will be going to Madison Jewelers for all of my future jewelry needs! Stop by this store and youll be glad you did! We were in there today getting my engagement and wedding ring rhodium plated. They did it in about 15 minutes while we waited! No chance of losing them in the mail and you dont have to be without for any time!The staff is super friendly and helpful, but they are NOT pushy like a lot of jewelry stores you walk in to! The selection of pieces and designers is excellent and well be back to make some purchases in the future. Plus, they do insurance appraisals onsite on Tuesdays.Bottom line, if youre looking for a jeweler for any reason Madison Jewelers is it!

This review is for all the guys that are hesitant about stepping foot in a jewelry store. I for one always picture a sleazy pretentious staff, that are always trying to up sell you, and looking down on you if you want to purchase something sensible and less gaudy. Needless to say, I dont frequent jewelry stores, and my wife is not a big jewelry person, but it just so happened that her center diamond just fell out of her engagement ring in target no less, leaving us with an uninsured diamondless ring. We were in no hurry to replace the diamond, but always new that we would eventually, and I felt that this Christmas was the right time to surprise her. I saw the great reviews for Madison, and decided I would give a local establishment a shot over one of those chains with the ridiculously sappy commercials. The shop is small, and I cant really speak to their selection, as I wasnt in the market for a new piece, but I can say that there was no pretentiousness to be found. You are immediately made comfortable when your approached by a really friendly golden retriever at the door, and the staff (and owner) were nothing, but professional and helpful. They bent over backward to figure out how to help me with my situation. The owner quoted me an extremely reasonable price (well below what I was expecting), and checked his supply of loose diamonds. When he realized that he did not have the size I was asking for, he offered to upgrade me to a slightly larger size for a minimal up charge fee, which meant that he shouldered most of the cost. They had the ring ready to go in a couple days, and had obviously taken great care to shine it up, and set it right. My wife was extremely excited about the ring (I couldnt wait until Christmas). I would recommend them without hesitation. Even if every bone in your body is rejecting the idea of entering a jewelry store, this local business deserves a shot.

I accompanied my daughter who was shopping for wedding sets. The personal care we received from Mr. Ralph was the deciding factor when she chose her set. When it needed a bit of tweaking, he came in to the shop specifically to make the adjustment to she could wear it back to college without having to leave it for a week. For almost 4 years we looked for someone to design my dream ring that was floating around in my mind and could make it perfectly. Little did I know, he was just down the road in Kempsville. Phil took the time to talk me through the design process while showing me examples of what I described and had roughly sketched out. I knew what I wanted but couldnt articulate it well. It took a few meetings before we found a design that fit my vision while using stones from my unworn jewelry.I told him I wanted it to refract light from every angle without snagging on everything. I didnt want it big, bulky & dripping in diamonds. He showed me a dome shape, added filigree engraving, a split shank with accent diamonds to compliment the cut of my existing stones. He gave me the perfect ring. Admirers are drawn at a glance with the sparkle and then enthralled upon closer inspection with all the fine details. Then I brag about my jeweler.Phil is a diligent man with unmatched personal skills and taste who provides fine products. They always do great work in a timely manner. His staff is kind and professional. Never once in the years weve come to Madison have I felt intimidated, or unwelcomed. Theyre a cut above the rest and live up to their excellent reputation.

While waiting for my car to be fixed, I happened to pick up the repair shops copy of CoVa BIZ magazine, the October/November 2016 issue, which is considered THE business magazine of Coastal Virginia. Flipping through the pages, I find an advertisement from Madison Jewelers. In the ad, there are pictures and descriptions of two Rolex watches and their prices. Being new to the area and in the market for a new Rolex, I head down to Madison Jewelers, after reading a couple of favorable reviews on Yelp, and discover that these are pre-owned Rolex watches and they are NOT an authorized dealer of a Rolex. No where in the magazine advertisement does it mention that the Rolex watches sold by Madison Jewelers are pre-owned. Which is misleading. So I wasted a trip down there and left the store seething. Not only that, the asking price for the pre-owned Submariner, which would not have genuine parts unless serviced by Rolex, was ridiculously high. I should have done a little more research before going. To be fair, on their website, it does say *Not an authorized Rolex Dealer....at the very bottom of ONE page. Their inventory listings do not even mention pre-owned!Hoping this is just an oversight on the part of whoever made the ad, I check the BBB website to see if there any other cases of false advertising. Sure enough, there have been THREE instances in which theyve been reprimanded by the BBB under the Advertising Review section for violating the BBB Code of Advertising guidelines. I dont appreciate the fact that this seems to be a repeatable practice by Madison Jewelers and they seemingly dont care about misleading the public with both puffery and misleading ads according to the BBB. Yet somehow they are A+ rated? So much for BBB ratings.Now that Ive done research, there are only two authorized Rolex dealers in the area. Reeds Jewelers and Finks. Im going to direct both companies attention to a jeweler who has not invested the capital to become a Rolex dealer, but still tries to lure in Rolex sales by omitting the proper disclaimers and disclosures in at least the print advertisement I saw and on their website. As an EXTREMELY picky customer, one of the staff members (Bonnie) welcomed the confrontation and encouraged further challenge. In getting to know the staff and the amazing owner, Phil, I learned not only what jewelry is all about, but how each individual sale is meant for each and every individual customer. They never tried to sell me something they needed to move or because they can make more money off of you.Anywho... after several options in settings and discussions regarding diamonds, I took some time to sleep on my options based on the advice of Bonnie. Besides building the ring I knew was perfect for my needs, the Madison Jeweler experience drew me back into their store without a second thought. Upon returning to the store, I entered with personal greetings and a pressure-free customer experience. Despite the fact I was pretty sure I had made my decision the previous day, I returned wanting to look one more time, just to be sure; Bonnie welcomed this curiosity and patiently waited for me to peruse other rings. In fact, she told me to look and take my time in order to ensure I knew exactly what I wanted. Additionally, Phil came over to personally shake my hand and ask about my fiancé by name. I was incredibly impressed.The staff at Madison do not work on commission and CLEARLY they were trained to make the experience all about the customer. Never did I feel pressured to make a decision nor encouraged to buy something I thought was outside my budget. Phil explained his customer service in the following words:I would love for you to buy the most expensive jewelry out there so you can put my daughter through college, but thats not what you want nor is it what I want. I know you have friends and those friends have friends. Not to mention, we know once you buy something, life happens and that flat tire you never expected becomes a surprise expense. We want to be sure youre still able to live your life and enjoy your experience here.

I looked around the web for an Omega watch and called these guys due to an add to buy gold. They had the watch I was looking for and showed me it was a newer version at a lower price than ebay. Also, they paid me $70 more per ounce for my chains tjem my previous guy. so lucked in to this one. hard to find though not in a usual place. nice lookin shop.
