Not going to lie I walked into the building the first day with very low expectations due to previous car shopping trips the days prior to this visit. Angela treated my husband and I with a smile and asked us if we had a specific vehicle in mind. I explained her that I was recently in a car accident and my 2008 Toyota 4Runner was totaled. She asked me what our price range was and came through with some great vehicles. It was nice to walk around the lot and have someone listen to the needs and the requests of what you want in a vehicle. Scheduled a 24-hour test drive with her this morning and returned back not even 5 hours later to buy the vehicle. Today’s car shopping experience was the best I’ve ever had. I didn’t feel pressured, stressed or rushed and she was willing to keep searching until we found the right vehicle. I will be going back to her to buy my brand new 4Runner when I complete nursing school, but until then I’ll enjoy my Mazda 6!!! Thank you Angela sooo much! 😊

John Allard is the best! He was extremely straight forward and very clear with the process. He brought me straight to the car I wanted and made the needed repairs that I requested. I brought my vehicle that I recently purchased from CarMax in for a repair that was scheduled upon purchasing the vehicle. The repairs were made as they should have although there is now damage to my vehicle that was NOT present prior to leaving my vehicle there overnight through the completion of service. I am not pleased with having issues with my vehicle that were not present upon buying it. I plan on getting ahold of the service manager to determine how they plan on resolving the current situation. Will update my review accordingly.

Purchasing a truck from CarMax was a breeze. I thoroughly enjoyed working with their team online, where are they or able to give me continual updates on the variety of vehicles and I was looking for. I even visited the CarMax in Virginia Beach and the one in Newport News or a truck and ultimately had one shipped from the Richmond area that fit my needs. The only reason why I am giving a 4-star instead of 5 is because when I purchased the vehicle I was supposed to have a variety of work done which was guaranteed by the parts manager. They stated I needed to call 48 hours after purchase because I wasnt in the system at which point they could schedule my appointment for the services. I called within 48 hours and they said they did not have the parts in question in stock and they would need to be ordered and then they would call me to schedule my appointment. Two weeks later I never received a call and the person I was working with didnt call back or respond to emails. Finally we got ahold of somebody else and they stated that person no longer work with CarMax and I had slipped through the cracks. I finally was scheduled two weeks after that and then I got the parts replaced which took approximately 5 hours for three new tires to be put on. They were supposed to replace 4 tires but one of them was defective. Another week of waiting for that fourth Tire to come in and I got it replaced. To sum it all up great sales service, adequate Parts service, but the wait time because of waiting for the parts to come in was a little excessive

This was my first experience shopping at a CARMAX. I was in the market for a new (nee to me) truck. The entire experience was excellent from start to finish.. no hassle business, no pushy sales, nothing of the typical car dealer. Bobby Clarke handles my search for the right truck, and also handled the paperwork from start to finish. Bobby was awesome! He explained the process, answered all questions and stayed responsive through text fo any questions I had. This place has a new tech vibe, with old school, hand-shake style. This is how buying a car should be done everywhere!

I had specifically been looking for a 2019 Honda Civic Si for about two months, found one for a good price closer to me, but when I got a notification that the price had been lowered on one CarMax VB had, I instantly reserved it. I had my own financing set up, (two other MUCH closer dealerships didnt want to work with that and wanted to make me pay a higher price) I called and drove 11 hours that night to get the car. The experience with my sales guy Matt Winslow couldnt have been more smooth. Ive bought a lot of cars from dealerships and this one is how all dealership transactions should go. I should also mention that my car has some tire damage that arrangements have been made to get repaired at the CarMax location back in my hometown. Planning on keeping this Civic for a long time, but if that ever changes, Im going right back to CarMax for another!

Over all fine , we completed what we thought was most of our paperwork online, once completed we got an automated response telling us to contact the store before we arrived. We did and they seemed sort of confused by that. When we arrived the told us it would take 25-30 minutes. We saw our name on thier screen showing appointment times , our name showed 7pm it was 530 . We were helped as soon as we arrived, and were leaving at 830. Again over everything was fine everyone was helpful, nice etc. Just seemed .. long.

She showed is exactly what we were interested in and never tried to lead us away or push us toward a more expensive car. We could not have asked for a better car buying experience. I like many other people hate the car buying process. I was also hesitant to buy from a place like carmax. However I found the exact truck I was looking for in Virginia Beach, the only problem is that I live in Austin Texas. It was going to cost over 1500$ to ship and and 21 days. I decided to fly out, pick it up in person, and drive home. The carmax folks on the phone at their call centers were helpful but not everyone I spoke with had the same information regarding this truck. I was terrified I was going to fly out and the truck would be gone or I wouldn’t have some form of paperwork they needed and it’s impossible to contact the store directly. Finally I asked the call center to transfer me to the store and after waiting awhile I spoke with Mike the manager. He assured me that he would have a sales rep contact me and get everything squared away. 2 hours later Ruddy (Rudy) calls me. This guy took care of every single detail. He knew exactly what to do and who to talk with to make things happen. He was honestly the best Salesman I have ever dealt with. He put my mind at ease. Made sure they had the truck (walked out and visually laid eyes on the truck and walked around and checked inside for any issues that may concern me) and would make sure they kept it on hold. I would fly out just to buy another car from him that’s how great he is. He got me in and out and on the road.If you are wondering why carmax just wouldn’t hold a vehicle for you the answer is they will however if someone comes to the store and wants to buy it they only way they won’t sell it is if you have already paid for shipping or secured approved financing through them. Even then I’m not sure I’d trust that.Bottomline here is if you value your time and great customer service please ask for Ruddy. Ruddy I wish you all the best and I hope to do business with you again really soon.

We initially came to Carmax to sell our 2015 Honda Odyssey so we could purchase a car from Carvarna. While they were appraising our vehicle; we walked the huge lot and found a 2017 Nissan Armada Platinum that looked better than the one we were going to purchase. We ended up buying the Armada and got a great deal. The staff are attentive and efficient and they make the process of buying a car painless. I would definitely recommend stopping by Carmax for your next car purchase!!

This was the best car buying experience I have ever had.Here my trade-in was valued at a few thousand more than at previous dealerships. Which allowed me to purchase a more luxurious vehicle than I intended to buy. My saleswoman Lindsay Lauver, was amazing! She made the entire process super easy. She answered all of my questions and was a great conversationalist while waiting for other departments to process my paperwork.I would highly recommend Carmax over buying from a standard dealership.

Our sales rep, Tamia, was professional & friendly, however our purchase experience (& Tamias good job) was sabotaged by the lengthy in-between times waiting for each step of the process to execute its particular action (contract signing, tag & title paperwork, final car prep, etc). What should have been a 45-60 min experience was dragged out to 3 hours. I felt bad for a young couple seated near us with a squirmy toddler. And, finally, when we were presented the car to go home, it was far from clean, forget detailed. We paid to have our car shipped from WS to VA & the tailgate of our SUV was plastered with bug guts but we were unable to see it at night on a black vehicle at the time of presentation. Note that the car only had 1090 miles on the odometer so it was basically a brand-new car & we expected the paint to be in brand-new condition (or close to it). It was clear it had been transported on the top rack, & tail-first, into the wind on the car transport truck. Also, all the glass was covered in a greasy film (I assume from the tractor-trailer diesel exhaust). I was finally able to give the car a good looking over when I washed & waxed it on day 3 of ownership & saw the permanent bug-damaged paint on the tailgate. The car’s paint condition was especially galling in light of CarMax nit-picking our superb condition trade-in for every blemish & scratch. CarMax has all the right elements for a good experience but they missed the mark on our car purchase.

Since my bank does not have local branches where I live, Im at a loss as to what I can do get the money that is owed to me from your organization. CarMax advertises delivery to your home or business but the process is exhausting and you never talk to the dealership unless you call them. After a week of dealing with their customer service team that is remote and asks for something else every day. When I finally had the documents in including payment in full I contacted the dealership and they had no record of my purchase. Thankfully the Sales Manager straightened it out. Just be advised that the process is going to consume your life for a week. Car is great.

Very friendly, customer centric car dealership. As soon as you step into the store, there is a person to greet you and pair you with a sales representative. The store has a huge open concept with computer stations throughout to help you compare cars, look over history, value, and most other tools in helping you decide a vehicle. We were allowed to wonder the lot and look over whatever cars we wanted. Once ready, we texted our rep for a test drive. Our rep even took us into the maintenance area where their cars are serviced. They will give you a quote on your old car, finance you, offer you warranty, and give a 90 day risk free trial. Overall a pleasant non-stressful car buying experience.

I used the online application to get a trade-in quote from Carmax. Surprised at the number made an appointment for one hour later at the store, met Clint (what an awesome guy). Clint not only handled things super efficiently, but went above and beyond to make a deal happen late in his work day. No one was pushy; I was met with intelligence and experience. If all the sales people are Clint material, in person car buys at Carmax is the way to go.

In and Out in 3 hours. Was a great experience. I had a car I was highly interested in transferred from Richmond. I wanted to see that car first. I fell in love with it but let them know I was interested in looking at other vehicles and styles. I was fortunate enough to have loved the vehicle I had transferred after looking at all of them and it had literally everything I wanted in a vehicle. 2020 Chevrolet Malibu. The salesman was not pushy like most car lots you go to he was very easy going and kind. We gave him a strict price on what we wanted to pay and he never once tried to push us for something more. He knew our payment limit and worked with us. They offer Gap insurance and a 5 year warranty through them - 100% worth it. Overall we were in and out in a few hours. Such an easy process and great experience. Our next vehicle purchase we will be coming back.

It was everything I was promised. The vehicle appraisal only took 15 minutes and then I was on my way. I was super happy to hear that even after appraisal I still had a week to close the deal and that it was redeemable at any Carmax. I wanted to sell it there but I just had to go to a wedding so I drove it up to Indianapolis and the offer was still valid. Thanks to everyones kind assistance

I have bought three cars from two different CarMax locations in the past two years. Each purchase went smoothly, and I received 3 great vehicles at reasonable prices. The staff was always pleasant, and helpful. The last car I bought from this location had an existing problem that was promised to be fixed. It is now 4 weeks, and it has not been addressed. It is a minor, but frustrating issue. I suspect I will end up fixing it myself, at small cost, but with several hours of my labor.

Very disappointed. My husband found a car on the CarMax app he wanted to purchase. He started the purchase and transfer process, only to have CarMax increase the price of the car an additional $2,000 on their website mid-transaction AFTER wed already paid the transfer fee. They refused to honor the original list price, even when presented with screenshots showing the lower price currently showing on their app. They promised to have a manager call to discuss the matter within 24 hours. It never happened. We had a great experience at CarMax in 2014 - so very disappointed in their current customer service standards.

I made an appointment to test drive an SUV. To my surprise I didnt like it. Too overwhelming so we went back to the showroom to look at 8 vehicles in my price range. I chose a delightful sedan in great condition. I was at CarMax for about 2 hours compared to the 8 hours experience with a Jeep competitor on the Boulevard. Everyone was so kind from the welcoming crew to the warranty representative. So happy with everything. I will consider getting the next car from CarMax if they have what I need!

I’m being generous and giving CarMax 2 stars because the saleswoman, Tina, and Daniel, at the corporate office, were great; however, everything else was awful. 1-there was a problem with the title; I had to have temp tags for two weeks and probably would still have them if I didn’t keep calling and bugging both the store and the corporate office. 2-the key fob didn’t work; no one would do anything about this until I called the corporate office. 3- the check engine light came on the second day I had the car; again, no one would do anything about it until I called the corporate office. When I called the Broad Street store two separate times, the CS girl was rude and condescending. 4-the payoff for my trade-in on my loan agreement was over $400 more than what CarMax sent my Credit Union for the correct payoff and CarMax still has that money. I’ve called the store and corporate, along with the CarMax Business office, and was supposed to receive a call back. It’s been 4 days and I haven’t heard a word. That is a shady way of dealing with money, especially when I had given a large down payment to reflect the extra amount I knew had already been paid on my previous auto loan, and I was told they would send the amount reflected on the agreement and my credit Union would just give me the overage; CarMax needs to return what is mine and take it off my loan agreement. Over two weeks later, I finally got all but the money issue resolved and I will have to keep bugging them until I get a resolution on that too. Hands down, just an awful experience buying a car.Update on my review: I went through three more offices and finally received a call back from a very condescending girl that kept repeating what she said about keeping my money no matter what I said about them telling me I would get it back when they sent the full amount put in my loan agreement as the payoff for my trade in. I have yet to see updated paperwork so will have to see if I can access that on line. I do see CarMax replied below, but I know they’re not going to budge on this so I’ll have to make sure it’s reflected on my loan. What a mess. Buyer beware! Don’t take the word of any of the business office guys; get it in writing when you’re dealing with your money. Although I have bought several cars over the last 20 years from CarMax, the last two times I have dealt with some less than honest people. I thought I’d give them a second chance but it was worse. First time shame on them, second time shame on me. Never again will I be buying from CarMax.

My nephew Bryant Hutter bought a car at Car Max on July 27th. The car has been returned to Car Max 3 times as the air conditioning did not work. It is still not working. No one there seems to care and you leave messages as opposed to being able to speak with a person. This is unacceptable.

Angela was awesome! All of the work that was done on the phone with Andy from Arizona was incorrect. My husbands SS # was put in wrong, our income was put in wrong, our address was put in wrong. Needless to say, everything had to be done over and reported in excess to the credit bureau. Of course this will effect our credit scores. Angela had to fix everything for our vehicle purchase and kept apologizing to us. We love our 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited! Thank you Angela for your hard work straightening everything out.

Everything was great, especially our Salesman, Rudy!…I came alone to get a trade-in quote the first time and spoke with Rudy, told him I would be back. I’m sure he thought “sure everyone says that”, but he left a great impression on us, so I returned the following week with my husband in tow and waited for Rudy for at least 25 min, I believe he was on lunch break. He continued to ask me what were my must haves and worked very hard to make sure we got the perfect vehicle for us, a 2018 Nissan Milano. I couldn’t have had a better experience from start to finish. He even watched our very active 2 yr old Grandson while we completed the paperwork in finance and while we transferred our belongings from one vehicle to the next. And speaking of the finance dept., the young lady Jaelan was a doll as well, both were very friendly, knowledgeable and polite…..Gold star to them both, they represent Carmax to the fullest!!⭐️

Mariah is very effective in customer care.A vehicle was shipped to this location and the end inspection completion date could not be given.This lady explained that there was an issue noted and parts would have been ordered but technician do not work on weekends.Issues always arise in any transaction but the manner of investigation and clear communication with status always has a positive response.

The worst customer service ever for warranty service!!! I would give them a negative if I could. I had a bumper to bumper warranty for 100,000 miles. It completely died at 100,003 and the would not honor my warranty--for 3 miles over. Thanks for the great customer service and compassion!

Don’t trade a car there they will tell you that they are a full service DMV station and will even sell you new decals for your plates then you will get a letter from the DMV that nothing was ever reported you sold the car to them on a trade and you end up in all kinds of trouble.Far from full service and how can they sell decals to a car and never take the old car off the DMV records.This should be against the law!!

We arrived for our appointment, had our online offer validated, agreed to sell, waited for document processing, signed the papers, received our check and were on our way in about 1hr 30min total. It was all pretty efficient and everyone we dealt with were very professional.

This was my third buying experience with CarMax and Ive decided my next purchase will likely not be with them. Overall the Dodge Durango I purchased is lovely, but when I noticed a chip in the driver side window two days after the purchase there was nothing they can do to replace/repair it. That was a bit disappointing considering how much they tout their 125 Point inspection and knowing the vehicle was checked in to at least two locations

I just love CarMax. Bought my truck from here and it was no hassle. Just awesome. Also wanted to look at an SUV and the one I wanted to see was at a different location and was able to be transferred for free with no obligation to buy. However, not ever vehicle will deliver for free, as it depends on the location the vehicle is coming from, so make sure you check if there is a fee. I was also able to get an appraisal for a vehicle and they were able to look over the vehicle in the parking lot and get me a fair value.

I had a great experience purchasing a truck from Carmax in Virginia Beach. There was none of the nonsense you often find at other car dealers. I was able to make a reservation and hold the vehicle as well as get a very fair quote for my trade in advance online. When I arrived at the store, I was greeted by Marques, who was an absolute pleasure to deal with. The truck was exactly as described, there were absolutely no hidden fees and after inspecting my trade in, the online appraisal was 100% honored. This place is great! If you know what you want... This is the best place to go! You dont have to have that used car lot mentality. You can look around, pick what you want and buy it.If you want someone to help you choose a vehicle... They can probably do that too!

Bought a 2018 Mitsubishi at 25000 miles. Went over my budget to purchase it and in the first three months has so many issues with the car already. Multiple drives back and forth to CarMax. Check engine light even came on after 1 month. I was even lied to about the repair shop being closed and ended up paying $130 for a diagnostic just to have it refunded.
