Today I was at your around 12:30pm and I was looking for traveling books and I got no help even thanks for my brother in law James found and I was planning to go to London and I got 3 traveling books and I get ready to pay for it and The cashier was Jacob and he was rude and I was trying to be nice and is he angry I was wearing a face mask of Manchester United and I assume he hates my team and he a fan of Liverpool. But I ask nice even he wouldn’t give me a bag and said there no bages. But the other employees in her side she did had a bag! I will never shop here again and manger please talk to Jacob and teach him to be nice to customers!!!

Always loved this place when I was younger. Now that I a kids I always end up finding great books for them now. Usually on sales!!!

The older cashier lady was extremely nice. I apologize for not getting her name. The bookstore is very lacking in depth of choices. If you want to read what is popular in your region, you will find it here. Its the same books we have all read and will teach our kids to read. If you want to break through and find a different perspective that is less mainstream, go online. It wont be on this stores shelves. There is a huge section on leadership, books by politicians, and advice from pundits abound!

The staff was overworked. Although a cleaner than normal store, the Starbucks line was very long. Great selection of books and clean ladies room.

This place has been remodeled substantially. It also looks like the inside of an Apple store. Take that for what it is. This is NOT your standard B&N but its a great cosmopolitan look.With the remodel comes a down size as well in all areas. I have to take a star off for that as Id rather have the old store instead of a brand new one with less space and chairs. The current store is half the size of the old Barnes and Noble. Not only does that effect the amount of product available, youll also notice a reduction on the amount of space available in the cafe as well as overall seating. The children section has also be reduced as well. Its nothing like the old store.I like the new store and from a business aspect I get what theyre trying to do. Theyre staying relevant in an ever increasing digital word. This is more of a store for those who will predominantly be purchasing books online but still want to come in for a look see or just enjoy the cafe--not for those who need to have a specific book now instead of waiting for the mail.Flashy store but not worth the new remodel. Just glad its back.

This book store is masterfully organized. The renovation makes a good use of the space, witch makes a simple shopping experience. Today 12/20/19 around 10’o clock I visited to finish up some Christmas shopping. I started with a trip to the restroom. On my way out I heard two employees complain about how long I was taking. Then go on to say I was must have been changing clothes. Witch is hardly their business and made me feel judged for simply using a rest room. I was mortified so I left promptly after. I didn’t get her name on the way out but she was a old white woman with a hounds tooth coat on working at the gift wrapping station. I am disappointed in Barns & Noble for this employee’s miss conduct. I’ve spent 8 years in retail store management and understand that in a world where online shopping is closing brick and mortar stores in scores, customers experience is key to keeping your business open. So After shopping at this location for over 20 years I will no longer support this Barns & Noble.

I want to express how appreciative I am of associate Jackie. I was in the store this afternoon to get help with my nook. She was knowledgeable, professional, patient, and kind. She answered all my questions and helped me navigate my tablet. I am truly grateful. Thank you Jackie!

Has a very modern aesthetic with plenty of seating at the front of the store in the Cafe. It allows you to see out the window to Town Center. Ive actually never seen a B&N store that looks like this one.

I was disappointed in the selection. If you want the newest releases of the top authors then its good. But if you are researching his or politics or religion. Then its hard to find anything of note.

What a great place to take the kids...... they love looking at all the different books and the employees were so helpful when I came to locating certain books....... I look forward to taking my children there to pick some new books.......

This barnes and noble is very nice. They have a wide selection of book. Ranging from kids to adult and everything in between. The staff is very helpful and go above and beyond to help customers find what they are looking for. They helped fill an online order right before closing and got a book I thought was out of stock. Would recommend to anyone to shop at this location

If you havent been to this location since they remodeled dont bother, do yourself a favor and drive out to Lynnhaven Mall. This smaller location not only sells far less than it previously did it has an awkward cold, sterile feeling when you walk in.

A very nice , clean store. I was able to find what I was Looking for right away. 4 stars bc the staff didn’t greet me or offer any assistance.

I just recently returned after their remodel. While organizationally it is a little better, they have missed the mark on the remodel completely. The old design had lots of selection and a relaxed lighting setup that was easy on your eyes to look through the store. The environment was like a cafe, but it made you want to stay and shop more because it was comforting. The new layout resembles more of a Walmart. Bright lighting that highlights everything in the store but is incredibly hard on the eyes, limited spaces to browse and a greatly reduced selection of books and magazines. They also cut out roughly 50% of the store and its now used as a restaurant or a cafe complete separate from them. It seems like they lost themselves in this remodel and its disappointing because they had a great design prior and the new one is more of a corporate business setting than a relaxing bookstore.

In times like these I imagine it is rare to see great reviews for physical stores that compete with Amazon, where I dont have to deal with staff. I was looking at cookbooks and sipping my coffee, minding my own business when a short-haired blonde person told me to put my mask on. The only person within 50 feet was my wife. He/she said I could have my mask off only precisely while I am sipping. He/she said if I wanted to keep it off, I could go the the area with tables and freely drink my coffee with my mask off. He/she lacked common sense and human decency. If I were asymptomatically carrying COVID-19 and I followed his/her orders to go to the cafeteria area, I would more likely be putting people at risk, because unlike the cookbook area, the table area was occupied. But this person is only trained to follow rules, not make reasonable decisions. By price comparison, Barnes and Noble probably cant afford to be pushing away paying customers, but time will tell.

Was able to get a card game here that was going to take too long to order via Amazon... I guess these stores still have value for last minute gifts!

Bright and shiney but I miss the old Barnes and Nobles. I have a hard time finding things in the new one. Need to put a few more chairs around. Would like to see more copies of books already out in print. Some prolific writers have only 1 or 2 different books when they have 12 or 15 out.

Love the new layout and design. This location used to be my least favorite due to the congested feel of the place. The architect did their thing on this one. Definitely gives you the quiet feel of a cafe while offering the right amount and selection of great reads. The customer service in both cafe and service desk is wonderful. Both counters make you feel welcome. I particularly enjoyed how Starbucks called me by name while addressing my needs. And the big crystal clear windows gives you direct view of downtown VA Beach. Ill be hanging in this location more often.

The remodel was the worst thing you could do to what is meant to be a cozy bookstore. Nows it’s blindingly bright and modernized. It’s like an Apple store. Terrible aesthetic. I’ll be going to a different bookstore now. Please don’t ruin the other stores this way.

I had requested to 2 books to be held for me while 2 I ordered came in. They were very kind and happy to do so.

I do not care for the new look of the store at all. It no longer has the feel it used to have with the comfortable chairs and carpet. Now it feels very alienating. The Starbucks/ cafe needlessly takes up a giant portion of the store that couldve been used for more books. The selection seems smaller in all the sections. My biggest complaint is the childrens section, or lack there of. My son is autistic, and every time we went to the old Barnes and Noble, he always wanted to high five the elephants. They are no longer there, nor is the little stage you had previously. There is one tiny table play area that didnt even have any toys on it but you wouldnt even know was there unless you went all the way towards the back. Highly disappointed. Well go to the one in Chesapeake. Poor choice to remodel.

I buy manga comics here all the time lol although they pretty much sell any kind of literature you might be looking for need some college books this is the place need some navy prep books this is the place for that too want to get religious or study witchcraft thiers books for that here as well. Need some coffee thats here too!!

The new layout looks great, and the lighting makes the store much more inviting. I don’t like how the departments run into each other. The toys and games are all over the store. The most disappointing for me is the complete lack of children’s section. Where are all the books??

This is one of the newly designed stores. Dont like it. The minimalist look makes it feel like one of those really cheesy, cheap bookstores at outlet malls that never have anything up to date.

So Barnes and Noble is so much more than a book store these days. Beginning to remind me of a upscale Cracker Barrel without the food. A bit pricey but some nice items. Love the employees I spoke with throughout the store. Everyone was friendly and seemed to want to be there and help

I really like this B&N. Feels really spacious compared to most. I found what I wanted pretty easily, and the staff was helpful. I just went to get a lap desk for bullet journaling, and they didnt mind me sitting on the floor testing them all.

Do yourself a favor and abandon this propaganda machine. Spend money at a local community bookstore instead.On numerous occasions they dont have the factual based history books I ask about.

They ordered a book for me that wasnt in stock, the book came in quickly. The employee I talk to on the phone was very pleasant. When I picked my book up I checked out quickly and that employee was nice. Prices are a little higher than Amazon.

Barnes and Nobel is a wonderful bookstore. They have a wonderful selection of magazine as well. I particularly enjoy their toy section. They have creative, well made toys for all ages. Lots of presents for birthdays have been purchased there. It is a stress free shopping experience.

I visit this barnes and nobles frequently i love the cleanliness of this store so much! Especially during covid however I have visited 40 mins before closing and was met with such a weird, resentful vibe by the staff. Now I do understand that its right before closing and people show up so thats annoying when your ready to go home. But you consciously chose to work at a job that has a required time to close. So if anyone comes in whether 4 mins before close or 40 mins your still OPEN. Its rude and its uncomfortable to be in. I was approached numerous times asking can i can help you with something while trying to read the summary to see if i wanted to buy the book. Please understand im not trying to sound entitled but I have a joy for books. And I work so its hard to get there in time to get a book. So hopefully someone sees this and can atleast in future visits be a bit more understanding.Still a great location though!

The staff are very friendly and helpful. If youre interested in getting a coffee/cappuccino/etc, the service is fast. Ive never waited longer than a couple minutes. Only thing stopping this place from being a 5 for me, is the mens restroom. Every time I use it, it smells the same...urine smell...not sure if its being properly cleaned, or it needs air fresheners. Overall, the shopping experience is still great!

Way overpriced for books.

They often don’t have the books I go in for. But the real reason for the 3 stars is that the parking stinks! There is not enough parking there and it’s going to get worse with Shake Shack opening. I absolutely love Shake Shack and am so excited about it but it should have never gotten permits for right there. What was the city thinking? Barnes and Noble should move!

A newly redesigned store. Very cold and clinical feel. Very limited in book selection. Not at all impressed, wish they left well enough alone.

The remodeling makes the store look like a futuristic, modern department store. Like someone who loves the design of Apple products. And in the process...the store has lost its previous warm, rustic charm. It no longer gives off that welcoming book store vibe. I dont feel inspired to read here. I feel like im just another customer in an overdesigned warehouse.

I took my two children in to find a book that we could read together and was surprised to find out they were having someone read a book to the kids in the store in a few minutes. So we settled in to the kids area and waited for the show to start. The reader was amazing with the kids and he started out but playing the guitar and singing songs. While reading the story he kept everyone engaged and kept the story interesting. After the reading there was a coloring exercise for the kids.For what started out as a simple trip to the bookstore ended up being a great adventure for my children.As always the staff were very helpful and kind.

Not as cozy as it used to be and there needs to be some sort of blinds on Windows for the Starbucks tables... I was blinded by the light the sun was way to bright and hot while i was trying to read and enjoy a coffee

Great place, it seems as it has prepared for Christmas shoppers. Lots of great ideas for presents. My children were looking for a board game and found what they wanted. Every time I stop here it is clean and hospitable and has a Starbucks in house.Has plenty of parking spaces and is handicap accessible.

Nice bookstore!

I love Barnes and Noble! I can stay in there for hours! Very courteous and hopeful! The atmosphere is so inviting! There used to be more chairs strategically available throughout the store not sure what happened there but I sit in the floor most of the time if I have to thats how comfortable and safe I feel. There is always someone close by to assist you and they truly go the extra mile to help you find whatever you are looking for! I highly recommend visiting the store! I have been to other stores in other states and various places in my area and I will say they are so similar in the way they due business great atmosphere and customer service!

I went to Starbucks and had a coffee with a ham and cheese sandwich, inside of Barnes & Noble in the Virginia Beach Town Center. The pickles on the sandwich were shriveled, tasteless, dehydrated and mushy. I did not enjoy my sandwich at all! I feel like I got robbed out of the $14.00, spent on a measly microwaved sandwich and a coffee. Next time Ill spend my money at an actual restaurant, and get something more substantial, fresh, and tasteful Also, I would like to say that the bacon is always undercooked at all the Starbucks I have ever been to. I do not recommend eating sandwiches at a coffee shop. I gave it two stars because the coffee was great and the barista was friendly.

Great store! Was a little slow on register, as there was a HUGE line and it took awhile to get help. Overall, very helpful store associates, quite knowledgable, and I always find what I need and sometimes what I didnt know I needed!
