They lied about first come first serve. They lied about not getting a chance to see my vehicle after already moving it and changing the seat adjustments. They had several car inspection walk ins as they passed me up while I waited in their zero air conditioned lobby for 5 HOURS !!! They are the worst people Ive ever taken a vehicle to and Im never going back to them again. I dont recommend you do either. They mightve been okay years ago, but they arent anymore. Theyll also over charge you over insignificant items AND claim an oil change is part of a state inspection ( its not by the way). Take your car anywhere else but there. They turned rotten and will lie to a customer just as a criminal would to a judge. Dont waste your time or your life on them. Theyre bad news. I fixed the problem myself later that day and didnt pay nearly the amount they quoted me before I even brought it there. Theyre nothing but a small gang of one armed bandits too lazy to fix anything but the lining of their pockets with YOUR money.

I went in to ask a question about a state inspection. I was rudely told “I close in 30 mins and I’m booked” I asked would it be better if I call next time and he replied with “it’s first come first serve” he was sharp and completely rude to me. Just to top it off the others mechanics smirked and seemed to find it funny that I came in and asked.For anyone who is looking to find somewhere that will be friendly. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE.

Went to get an inspection, inspector took my poor spare tire from trunk, and switched it to right front, which that tire was good!My spare was in poor shape, so failed inspection.He also gave me a blown license plate light, I had it checked at an auto store down the street first, and left to get inspected.Switch, and bad service . Bays need to have cameras to help keep some of bad inspectors honest,.Mark your parts, and tires, FYI.

Today I went to Holland Road Auto to get back brakes. I did so because I heard a noise. Upon them inspecting my brakes, they were fine. They informed me I had about 5 to 6 months of routine driving left on them! This is proof of honesty, respect and professionalism. So many females get taken advantage of, when bring their cars into some shops. I trusted this shop before, but now I have proof of the gold standard of excellence they deliver. I am a single grandmother working two jobs. I am so thankful for having such a fine place, to bring my car. The folks behind the desk, and the dog are very nice, and welcoming! Such a cool place to come to. You know you will get expect advice, and a listening ear!

Great Service

This is the repair shop I always visit for State Inspection. They dont try to find problems with your vehicle just to get money out of you. As long as your vehicle isnt falling apart or you dont have an obvious issue such as bad windshield wipers, bald tires/brake pads, or lights being out then youre usually in and out if you get there EARLY! Also, theyre pretty good about genuinely helping with vehicle issues and not charging you for repairs you dont need. I took my car there because I thought I had a bad tie rod and needed an alignment. They took my out, road tested it, brought in the repair bay and determined that I needed all new tires. They didnt charge me a dime for all the time they spent diagnosing my car. Great shop. Visit if your in the area and need repairs or good advice.

Just left the place. The guy up front is so friendly. And the most important thing, they are fast. I did my state inspection at the end of the month, imagine that. They finished the job in about 1.5 hours, with few people before me.Highly recommend.

This place it great been going here for 4 years. Fair pricing and pretty quick. Waiting area needs I little updating and some better chairs. But its a shop and thats how it is. Over all good spot to get you car fixed.

They performed a repair for me that was expected to take 2 hours and it took them almost double the time due to the difficulty of the job. I was expecting to be charged for the full 4 hours but they refused and charged me only what they were expecting. I was really satisfied and I will come back again in the future.

This is a very unprofessional place! They treat you like they are doing you a favor. Instead of showing gratitude to their customers for what they contribute to the success of their business. In March 2020, I explained I was gonna pay for a rental car, for them to work on my car. I left it 5 days. I explained it was important for to get my car within that time. When I went in to retrieve my car, I was told very matter of factly, we aint looked at it. They should not be allowed to treat people, and their cars any kind of way! So wrong on so many levels. The complaints is long with wrong doings. They take in unbelievable amount of yearly income. Look them up! Public record....but youd never tell by theirthift store style waiting room. Go to Christian Brothers for professional work, and moral ethics. Because you def will not get it here. Just mean, rude and unprofessional people run amuck here. You like negative energy? Then you will love it! I am a past customer, never again. They deserve NO stars...much less one.

My car died last night and I brought it here this morning! I just picked it up and its running great!!! I needed a new alternator and batteryI feel what I was charged was more than fair for both parts and labor!!!! Very friendly people working here as well!!! We have also used them in the past and have always been completely satisfied!!!! Highly recommend!!!!!

Great customer service. I felt like family! I went in for a state inspection and oil change, i was in and out. They took great care of me and didnt try to pressure me into something i dont need like Ive experienced at other shops. This is def my new shop from here on out.

The best shop in my opinion. My dad suggested it to me for my inspections when I started driving and I’ve been coming here now for the past seven years! I was unable to come in this weekend when I had time available and went to another shop for my inspection. They failed my car and wanted to charge me $750 for a ton of problems and diagnostics and likely wanted to keep my car for way longer than needed. I left and came to Holland Road Auto Center on the next day I had off. I waited about a half hour and passed my inspection with no issues and no additional work needed. Thanks for always providing great service! Also there was a dog sound asleep behind the counter so that’s cool too.

Service here is awful , they are plain rude at this business , when you walk in it’s a feeling of not been welcomed , none of the employees acknowledge or speak to say hello , they let you stand in front of counter , do not acknowledge you until they are ready. They talk in a demeaning manor , they don’t thank you Or anything . I felt so unwanted there. Will never ever go there again !!!!!!! and will warn everyone I know about this place ‼️. They have a sign that mask are required but , they don’t wear any at all. Awful Service if I could give it a zero I would ‼️

I had to have my car towed here at 11 pm on a Friday night after having a tow truck driver tell me my starter wasnt working. The owner discovered my car upon opening and called my note with my contact information and began to diagnose and work on the repair right away. Even though the shop has shorter hours on Saturday than during the week, my car repair was completed before they closed at 2:00 pm. The shop has earned my loyalty

DO NOT COME HERE!!!WORST SERVICE EVER!!GARBAGE BUSINESS OWNER!!PLEASE READ!!!!!They broke my center console completely off! During a routine inspection. Then tried to sit it on top where it used to be connected. When I put my elbow on it, it completely fell off. I have a Nissan Juke by the way. The center console can be lifted up for more cup room. When I confronted them about it they made me drop my off car and said if they had to order a piece they would. Then called me an hour later to tell me they wouldn’t fix it. The owner said they don’t go in the car to do an inspection?! I guess he thought I was a clueless women! Clearly liars & crooks! The owner said to my face that he has to back up his techs? Because they said they didn’t do it. So I was arguing with him, he accidentally said “I never touched it” so HE WAS THE ONE WHO DID THE INSPECTION! I caught him in a lie! ( trying to blame it on techs) So customer service is clearly not important to him. He just wants your money. He clearly looked up out much it costs to order the product and knew I wouldn’t pay for what he broke in my car because no one on earth would if that happened to them! I couldn’t believe he denied breaking it! Tried to put it back, and tried to blame someone else because he isn’t man enough to admit he did it! I was insulted on how stupid this man thought I was! That he lied to my face!Please don’t let the good review help believe this is a good place! It is not!

This is really the only place I take my cars. I am leaving this review because Ive read some of the others. No, they dont stop what theyre doing and smile like youre the most important thing in their world. They fix cars. They fix only the parts that need fixing, or that you ask them to fix. If youre on a budget, they help you find cheap fixes. The most notable time I went there, I had a horrible noise from under the car. They said it was the muffler. They could replace it for something around $250, but they recommended I go down the street to a place where they could just do a quick weld job for $50 and get me back on the road with a quiet car. They didnt even charge me for looking at it. These guys are good, they know their stuff, and they have integrity.

Horrible. Liars and out to get your money. Don’t believe the ‘premium ceramic’, they put on semi-metallic. We had burning heat/smell after, took us right back in, said it was the caliber, bought the part and tried to lure us back in. Thankfully we got another mechanic to look and showed us the semi-metallic brakes, nothing wrong with the caliber. So we will live with breaks that still make noise because they are dishonest and there is no more trust. Desk guy days ‘this is what we ordered..’ yes, and that is what our invoice says, but is not on the car. He says ‘we would have checked before replacing the caliber’, we’ll they already did and ordered the part, we just didn’t come back. Sucks that you can’t depend on people these days. Out to make a buck. Never again.

Great work for a food price

Honest and up-front. Very reasonable with price. I have had many great experiences with them. Here is one that I will share. I went to Merchant Tire and they tried to rape me for $950 repair. I knew what they were trying to repair and told them no way. Took my vehicle to Hollan Road Auto and they did the repair for $325... vehicle has been running great for over a year now

Safety InspectionCalled 8:05 am asking if I could drop the car off for a safety inspection. Dave informed me that it would be $16 and was on a first come first serve basis.I parked the car at 8:19 am and gave my information and keys and then walked to work.They pulled the car in at 8:26 and were done at 8:45 and I got a call back at 8:52 am saying everything was done.I understand priority of projects but I am impressed by the great service.

I used to work in an auto repair shop in high school. I swore Id never take my vehicles anywhere but the shop that used to employ me but when I moved away from home, I had to find an alternative. Holland Road Auto is GREAT. Ive taken my 2 vehicles there a few times over the past 6 months and have nothing but good things to say! Theyve completed all work in a timely manner, have only fixed things Ive requested to be fixed, and have done so at a fair price. They even took the time to SHOW me items on my vehicle that needed attention but never pressured me to have them fixed right away. Thanks Holland Road for being my go-to auto repair!

Took my car there for my AC not blowing out hot air even tho I had an AC system full service about six months prior and replaced the fan at the same time. Already knew it wasnt freon level because that was the first thing I checked to diagnose. Explained everything I knew about the problem, but they didnt wanna hear it and insisted it was freon level...so guess what–thats all they did, put some freon in it, charged me almost $200, and said it was good to go. Best part, when I picked it up, the problem still existed 100% the same as it did before, as if they didnt even think to check. But they already had my money. When I brought this to their attention, they explained they would have to try other things, and tried to charge me another almost $400. I explained I had already paid to have something fixed that wasnt fixed at all, and the guy literally sounded too dumb to understand. What really worked me up was that this was exactly what I told them in the beginning was *not* wrong with it. I can put freon in myself for about a tenth of what they charged me, but they dont want to hear what you have to say. Anyway, after pleading my case to the boss man himself, he agreed to take off what I initially paid the first time in the new bill.This is where it gets good. Pick it up the next day or so, problem *still* exists even though they said they replaced the fan (which was just replaced six months prior). Even better, now my horn doesnt work which I immediately noticed upon walking to the car and nice I got my keys back and doing my routine keyfob honk. Also, now when I turn my highbeams on, the car shuts off. When I use my left turn signal too long, the car shuts off. The car shuts off randomly while driving down the interstate which is also fun. They somehow masterfully screwed up my electrical in the process of installing a fan for no reason, after charging me to put freon in it for no reason, perhaps in an attempt to get me to have to come back as the old adage for shady mechanics goes? Either that, or they just have zero idea what theyre doing, and Im not sure which is worse. Shouldve done my research before taking my car here, the reviews are really telling. I work one full time and three part time jobs, I definitely dont have time for this sort of incompetence. Dont make the same mistake I did, keep your car away from this place.

Great service; Ive been using this shop for serveral years now mostly for inspections and oil changes. No problems. Shop is honest and up front. I do a lot of my work myself and they always make recommendations as to what parts and how I should replace them. They have never recommended replacing something that didnt need to be replaced or serviced. I would recommend them to anyone.

I went here because my truck was running hot, I thought it was the thermostat. The mechanic SAID HE DID A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK, they changed the thermostat and the water pump and it was still running hot!!! Almost $800 later he says oh you have a blown head gasket and that will be another $1800. I asked why they couldnt have said that from the beginning, needless to say I left with the same issue I came with and a feeling that I was taken advantage of. I will never do business with them again.

Great place to take your car for service. They are ran by people who care about what they do for the people who rely on their vehicles and they dont take advantage of you. They stand behind their work and dont charge you for things you dont need. Heading south on Independence Blvd your do need to drive past them and make a u turn to get to them but i guarantee it will be worth it.

Took my car here for the first time for a state inspection. Done in about two hours, which is much faster than I have ever had an inspection done. Passed without them trying to sell me some frivolous repair job to get a sticker, which has never happened out of the 4 years Ive been in Virginia.

Went in for a state inspection. When I got into my car after the inspection, it smelled overwhelmingly like cigarette smoke. I have asthma and allergies, so it was especially offensive. Almost seems like the mechanic was smoking inside of my car. Even airing the car out for a few drives hasn’t cleared it out. Very unprofessional, and likely tortious. Would not recommend, especially if you are a non-smoker. If the smell isn’t cleared by tomorrow, I will give a call to the shop. Will update if so.

I had my car inspected here and got pulled over by a state trooper as well on suspicion of a fake sticker. He examined the sticker more closely along with the inspection paperwork which I keep in my glove box, and then said I was good to go. Apparently it had something to do with the sticker looking faded. I saw a news report on this as well, that there has been some confusion over the stickers - NOT just here. Ive always found Holland Road Auto to have fair prices and quick service.

Car started making a weird noise on acceleration. Showed up shortly after they opened on Saturday morning. They diagnosed the problem within the next thirty minutes and had a fair plan of action and kept me in the loop throughout the repair. This place is not worth coming to they will tell you two hours just to get you in the door. Work is poor at best they will probably brake something and refuse to pay for it. The manager is rude and wont give you and straight answers. They will try and rip you off by telling you things are wrong which arent bad. I suggest if you come here watch them with your car. Been here a couple of times but this will be the last time. Missing hub caps, and work not performed properly. I have had to put in bolts and screws in mtself after Ive left here. Shame Ive been told to come here by a few people.

Oh my. This is the best service I ever had. Mazda was going to charge me to patch my tire due to picking up a screw 43 bucks. I went to Holland and they charge way below that and I went on my lunch break . I was back to work before lunch break was even over. And my lunch break is only 30 minutes

My wife took my car here for a state vehicle inspection while I was at work. While she was waiting to have the car looked at, one of the mechanics flirted with her before he and his coworkers made explicit comments about her within earshot. The inspection didnt even go correctly as they told me I had a turn signal out when I did not at all. Not only do they allow their employees to harass customers, they apparently dont even have to do their jobs correctly.I wouldnt bless them with a single one of my hard-earned dollars and I will tell everyone I know, fellow military or not, not to make that mistake either.

I wouldnt bring my dog to get spayed or neutered here! My fiancé brought my car here to get inspected and it failed. They provided a list with the items that they found wrong, as well as a price for parts and labor. Let me tell you, the quoted price was RIDICULOUS. I may be a female but trust, I know when Im being ripped off. Speaking of ripped of, so I didnt drive my car for 2 days because I am not familiar with Virginias laws on driving with a rejected inspection sticker, since I am not from here. When I finally did get in my car to drive it to a mechanic to fix the issues, I noticed they had cracked my turn signal, so when you go to turn left it bends in half. The reason I know they broke it, is not because I drive it everyday but it WAS NOT on the list of issues that they found wrong for my car failing the inspection. So when I called to let them know about it, they really TRIED to play with my intelligence by stating it had been cold the last 2 days, so maybe the cold air did it, really?; their mechanic is honest and would tell them if he broke something, obviously not; their mechanic didnt purposely break it, probably not but he damn sure broke it; and that they werent responsible for the damage, they really are responsible. They all but told me Casper the friendly ghost broke it or it broke on its own because I know 1000% I didnt. I wish I had a pic to show but unfortunately I dont but lesson leaned.So to wrap this up, this review may not reach a lot but hopefully it reaches some. I took my car to another mechanic shop, who is fixing my turn signal FOR FREE and the other issues for almost half of the cost they tried to charge. We even got a discount on the parts WE BOUGHT OURSELVES. So the reviews stating that its a great place to take your car, that may be so but thats not the experience I had and I wish it couldve been different but like I said, lesson learned to inspect your car after you refuse services for something you clearly dont want.BAD FOR BUSINESS!

Terrible customer service, A bunch of dishonest A******s. They also are bad at what they do, I had an ignition coil gone bad and once i got my car back from them, they didnt even connect all of my sparkplugs so i was misfiring all the way down the road. I wont ever go to these people again. If youre in the area near Holland Auto you should save yourself the hassle and go to Pauls Auto off of Bonney Rd. on Happy Street. He;s some older British fellow who really knows his stuff when it comes to cars. Hes the most honest automobile mechanic I have yet to find in Virginia Beach. Go check him out, not these guys.
