I went to John Erbs because of the reviews and stars, but he was a total scam compared to this place. The people here are so amazing and were able to fix my AC in a day! Totally down to earth and honest, they don’t try and scam you into other stuff and just all around great people. I recommend this place to everyone !!!

The plastic cover under my car had come unscrewed and half of it was hanging down making the car inoperable. Bruce is amazing! I was referred to his shop several years ago by a friend, and I met only continue to use his shop for repairs I or a close friend cant manage, but i also still refer people to him. Hes an old-school mechanic; the shop is no-frills, Im fairly certain he doesnt really advertise (word-of-mouth seems to be his advertising!), and he knows his stuff. But most of all, hes honest. The first time I went to him, he was up front that he may not be the cheapest shop in town, but hes not the most expensive, either. Several times, hes let me know what repairs I absolutely needed, what could wait (especially when the budget is tight), and what I can try to tackle myself. Hes never tried to unnecessarily upsell me, and the few times he has strongly recommended OEM parts as opposed to aftermarket, he has explained why -- the choice was still mine to make, but he advised me very professionally of what issues I might run into with aftermarket.Hes also explained the how and why certain repairs are needed and often what happened to cause the issues to begin with.Just today, he saved me a lot of stress and money and got me back on the road safely; Ive worked in dealer auto service departments in the past, and Im pretty confident that most dealer shops would have just told me how much the repair would cost and that the car wouldnt be driveable without the repair, but Bruce offered a safe solution that will allow me to save up for the repairs. And because of that, I will absolutely be spending that money at his shop when I can afford to...Bruce is the kind of guy who understands that honesty builds loyalty, especially when its backed up with quality work.So, if you want/need a fantastic mechanic who will treat you with the same professionalism and care as he does your car, Bruce is your guy!

Bruce and his crew are a dying breed among businesses today. I am from out of state, but will drive my car to Bruce for maintenance checks because he is the only mechanic I trust. I happened upon his shop in 2011 when my radiator was punctured and another garage told me I needed to replace about everything under the hood. Bruce looked at my car and told me that only the radiator needed replacing and that by the book, the other garage was charging more hours than would it should take for the said repairs. Another time I was leaving Tampa for a holiday and something clunked while driving. I turned around and took it to Bruce. He said he could do the repair and was was kind enough to work me into the rotation THAT DAY so I wouldn’t have to leave two days later. This year I replaced my shocks with him and the car drives like a dream. Bruce is honest, very thorough—he runs recall reports on your vehicle and print them for you as standard procedure—and gives you a fair price for quality work. Whenever I leave his shop after having work done, I never worry about my car because I know Bruce treats it like he would be the one driving it and makes sure it’s safe and functional. You will never get better customer service or quality work on your car if you go to Carollwood Auto Repair.

He explained the repairs needed in terms that I could understand and was honest about what needed to be done but never pushy.Everything was finished quickly and the price that I was charged was more than fair. Seeing as this is my only second google review, I’d say Bruce did an amazing job. I just bought my first car in NY and have been having quite the headache with crooks. When the mechanic I had for 15 years closed his shop, I panicked! Being a single, older woman, I’m so skeptical about mechanics, but my car needed immediate attention. Honestly, I needed a new car but I was trying to hold off for a while. I asked my son to go online and find a mechanic. He suggested Carrollwood Auto Repair. He said it’s close and it has 5 stars, so I went.The owners name is Bruce. I was so impressed. He was so thorough and straightforward. Of course, he told me what I already knew, and that was that I needed a new car, but in no way, did he try to frighten or manipulate me into having more work done, like so many mechanics do.I met Bruce 6 months ago. Shortly after, I bought a preowned Prius. I didn’t know much about Prius, so I wanted Bruce to take a look at it. He said that he had owned one for about 12 years, and assured me that the car was in very good condition. I told him that I didn’t know much about Prius and he told me to call him any time I had a question. Since then, any time I see a light on the dashboard, or just have a question about the car, I call him and he either tells me what it is, or tells me to come by so he can check it. Thankfully, it’s always something minor though. But again, being single, it really feels good to know that I have someone I completely trust to work on my car. I very highly recommend Carrollwood Auto Repair if you’re in need of a mechanic.

I brought a 2005 Honda CRV in for repairs and was very pleased with the process of working with his shop and the repairs they did on my car. Bruce suggested a few additional repairs that I wasnt anticipating but I felt that he was clear with me as to what he was suggesting and why, what my options were and I am very happy with the results. He even followed up with me afterwards regarding a specific issue and how it has been driving following those repairs. In the end, he seems to have solved an issue that had been ongoing/unresolved for >5 years and looked at by numerous other shops. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience.The undercover (???) plastic piece beneath my engine had fallen and was dragging on the ground, attached by the bumper. Of course, once it was pointed out to me I freaked out, because how long has that been there?! Will it ruin my car?? Im not a car genius so I wasnt sure, but I found this place on Yelp and called just to see how early they could fit me in.Bruce had me come in the next day, and I went early because I was worried about not having a car for my interview (which was a solid 6+ hours later, but in my experience good mechanics can get backed up with work really quickly!). I asked him how long he estimated it would take because of that, and he assured me itd be done in a couple of hours, plenty of time to hit my interview. Then he said hed call me to let me know the cost.Now, I was prepared for a fight. My limited mechanic experiences were largely with Jiffy Lube and other such quick places, so I had the mentality of needing to brutally shut down unnecessary additions to my vehicles service. I thought Id have to say, No, I dont want a brand new piece, no, I dont need an engine flush, no no no please just fix the one thing I need.Didnt happen. Bruce called me up about half an hour later to let me know the charge would be about $15 bucks. Startled that I didnt have to fight it down, I quickly agreed and he said itd be ready in another half hour (only an hour or so after I brought it in!).Came back and they didnt charge me at all, decided to fully credit it, since the solution was just to re-attach the piece with a zip-tie.I am still blown away by the service and experience. It was quick, honest, reliable, and so generous of them to decide not to charge me anything when their time is so valuable. Ill be heading back in on Monday with donuts for the crew, because I cant let this kind of generosity slide on my watch!I asked if they did oil changes, too (THEY DO) and Jiffy Lube is officially out of my vocabulary forever.Thanks so much, Bruce + everyone at Carrollwood Auto Repair.

I went to Carrollwood Auto Repair today to get my brake pads checked and to get a tire rotation/balance/oil change. Bruce asked me questions beforehand to get an idea of what to look for, and he called me earlier than expected saying that there was no need for brakes and that I was in good shape. He did the rest of the work for a fair price, and conducted business in a friendly, professional, and non-demeaning way which I highly appreciate. I will be returning to this place even for small checkups just because he is an honest man who does quality work. Anywhere else would have charged me for something that was not necessary. Highly recommended, but make an appointment!

The automatic window on my car broke. I contacted Carrollwood Auto Repair through Yelp and received a quick response from Bruce. I took my car in the next day, which was a Saturday (!), he diagnosed the problem, gave me a good quote over the phone and repaired my car the same day. Excellent service! When I went to pick up my car they even knocked $20 off the quoted price as they managed to get the part at a lower than expected price. I highly recommend using this business.

Bruce fixed my 01 Malibu quickly after my check engine light came on and also gave it a thorough exam. Another mechanic told me I needed a wheel bearing replaced. Bruce said it was okay for now and should be fine. He also replaced a broken power searing fluid cap and didnt charge me for it. He did all this for a very reasonable price. He definitely does not try to rip you off and is always 100% honest. He is also accurate at diagnosing the problem. My car has been fine since bringing it to Bruce just before Christmas. I was able to drive out to Orlando to see family for the holiday thanks to Bruce!

Very hard to find an honest Mechanic that you can trust! Bruce is awesome and honest and was SO helpful - All at a great price. Honda dealership told me it would be over $600 to fix my car (including things they told me I “needed”). Bruce did it for $280 (not including unnecessary things). He was upfront about what was wrong with it and exactly what needed to be done. I would trust him with my car any day!

We were stranded in Tampa on a Sunday and Auto Zone recommended Carroll wood Auto Repair. We found a hotel 1.5 miles away and left or Truck there. We were able to walk and meet with Bruce first thing in the morning. He was so nice and was super honest with us about our situation. With no where to go we walked back to our hotel. He called us about 2hrs later and our truck was fixed! He even checked a few extra things to make sure we got home okay. Being broke in unfamiliar territory was not great, however Bruce delivered the best customer service. Auto repair places get a bad rap cause there are some sketchy places out there. Carroll wood Auto Repair was honest and reasonable with their prices. I only wish they were near where I live, cause I would definitely be a regular. I would recommend them to my friends and family! I shopped around for a good, honest shop to do some repairs on my 2001 F-150. After getting a couple estimates from shops, and feeling the estimates were too high, I took it to Bruce at Carrollwood Auto Repair, and his estimate was in the same price range, but he included additional work the other shops had not. While Bruce was doing the work, he keep me informed, explained his diagnosis procedure, and fixed things the correct way. I left my truck with him and had him do additional work, now my truck runs like the day I bought it and I have a mechanic for as long as I live here. You will not be disappointed with this shop, and Bruce is as good as any mechanic out there, very honest and a pleasure to work with.

Bruce is the man. I was nervous going to him because I have only ever gone to my dealer but my husband (aero engineer and son of of an A&P mechanic) checked this place out and trusted Bruce after only going there once and when I went in with my car I found out why. He is incredibly knowledgeable and forthright. I went in for a transmission flush and to get both sets of brakes done because this is what my dealer told me I needed done but I was putting it off. Well I put off one set too long but fortunately my front brakes were still good for quite come time (dealer lied to me) but Bruce didnt and he could have taken advantage of my ignorance of cars like my dealer did. He is a bit of a perfectionist and kind. I had a mascara stain on my roof and he didnt note it before and thought he had made the mark with grease so he cleaned it off with upholstery cleaner. Looks great now!! He did a number of other services for us that day that my husband and I authorized because I hadnt had maintenance on my car for some time and I and my husband trust him. I would go out of my way to take my car back to him if needed. Excellent service and efficiency. Nice guy.

I do not have enough positive things to say about this business. I went to another shop, that rhymes with shmires plus, that indicated that I had quite a few things wrong with my car, air filter, oil, etc... I got the oil changed, but I did the air filter and wipers on my own. Got back and my car was leaking oil. Its an old car, but all of a sudden, out of nowhere, after 16 years, my car starts leaking oil? Looked around for some places with good reviews, and I came upon Carrollwood Auto Repair.Just asked for an inspection, not indicating anything was wrong, just wanted him to look it over, see what he could find. Well, it turns out, that a different oil plug had been used on my oil tank, so he switched it out for the right one. He also asked if somebody had done work on the air filter because the sensor was disconnected. He told me hes seen that scam before, they unplug the sensor, charge you to fix the problem and then just plug the sensor back in.In short, went to another place that seemed to have intentionally messed with my car, he identified and fixed all the problems with little help from me.... Oh, he also didnt charge me for any of it. I insisted I pay at least for the oil he topped off.This was all over a year ago, but I have not taken my car to any other place since. I have done other repairs with Bruce, and he always comes in under price, doesnt use refurbished parts if possible, and will stay longer if he has to to get the job done (One Saturday, he spent an extra 3 hours there because the break pad he ordered for my car had a crack in it, and he refused to install a damaged part. He ordered another one, waited for the part, and didnt leave till the job was done).10 (out of 5) stars for an honest business man with both experience and skill. To say I recommend this place is an understatement of the vastest proportions.

Theres no free coffee, wi-fi, or even a waiting area, but I trust the work they do and believe the pricing is more than fair. Last week I got my free lifetime alignment, rotation and balancing service at Tires Plus. I got a great deal on the tires and like the lifetime option. After this service, the Tires Plus guy said I needed rear brake pads, and possibly rotors immediately. I had 2 mm left and could damage the vehicle if I didnt do it as soon as possible. I thanked him and thought, gee, last time I had my car serviced, Bruce said I had 50% left on the rear brakes. It didnt seem that long ago, but I took the car to Carrollwood Auto. Bruce looked the car over and let me know that I still had about 50% of the brake pads left. NO CHARGE. Bruce always gives me his honest opinion and has never pressured me to do a job. Its just Bruce and his assistant, so sometimes I have to wait a couple of days, but Carrollwood Auto is the best mechanic Ive used during the 16 years Ive lived in Tampa.

Very trustworthy and knowledgeable. I have been a customer for over a year now for typical maintenance and have had several random issues with my Honda Pilot. Bruce and his team have helped solve the problems and I feel the price is more than fair.

Bruce is a great, honest mechanic! Had my alternator replaced within 4 hours after first initially giving a call to see if I could bring in my car to get it done the same day. Very honest and will let you know if he recommends anything else to get done, but only if its truly necessary. Will be coming back for any other future maintenance on my car.

I found Carrollwood Auto by Googles reviews. I thought 5 stars huh, let me try it can not be worse than what I have experienced. Well Bruce definitely lives up to his rating. If you want to find an honest mechanic, who diagnoses the problem the first time and dosnt over charge you , and even calls you to check in , then search no more.However, if you like having your car misdiagnosed, and being ripped off all the while sipping a nice cappuccino while you wait in a fancy waiting room then do not go to Bruce.

I usually take my car to the dealership for oil/filter change. At my last visit, they told me the steering wheel fluids is leaking from under the car and it will cost me about $1500 to fix since it can only be fixed by replacing the part. I didn’t let them do it.I looked for other places to take my car to have another look at it. Came across this place, I called earlier in the day Bruce answered and told me to bring the car later so he can take a look. I took to him and he told me the leaking isn’t that bad. The car can be drivable up to a year depends on how bad it gets with time. He told me to keep an eye on it and just replace it whenever it gets worse. He didn’t charge me.Bruce seemed an honest guy, and definitely looks like someone you can trust if you don’t have that much experience with cars.

I wont even waste your time - just know the experiences we had before meeting Bruce were enough to make anyone consider bicycling.Bruce is the old school wise man mechanic that says wax on, wax off... okay not really, but I wouldnt be surprised if he did. The way he approaches problems with confidence and know-how makes you feel comfortable leaving your baby in his hands.I recommend you take your car to Bruce no matter the issue. Bruce came through again! I found him on the internet while trying to help my wife and daughter in a stranded situation near Carrollwood. Summers Mustang wouldnt start due to a faulty wire near the brake pedal. Bruce knew exactly what the problem was. After AAA towed the car to Carrollwood Auto Repair, Bruce stayed after hours to complete the repair. They also spotted a nail in one of the tires that needed attention. Wife and daughter where on their way in about the fastest time possible. It was a great relief to me all the way up in Atlanta to have a trusted friend in the Tampa area. I would highly recommend this trustworthy company to anyone seeking an honest mechanic!
