Last week after a work meeting, my coworkers and I grabbed lunch from Silver diner and it was honestly gross. I don’t say this about many places; but upon our arrival the food aroma was decent so the whole experience was very disappointing. They have a pretty lengthy menu but I went with the chicken Cobb salad which was somewhat pricey for a diner. It tasted like the salad kits that you buy from the store, expect it tasted old and stale. My coworker order a chili bowl — we both agreed that it tasted like it came straight out of a can. He also ordered a meatloaf which he didn’t finish. My other coworker said the burger was edible. The service was decent. I would rate my experience 4/10
We ordered the fish and chips and a burger meal and ended up waiting over an hour for the food to come out. When it finally arrived the fish and chips were cold, and had one spot that was seasoned. The coleslaw was warm from sitting for too long. We asked for the burger medium rare and were given an over cooked dry burger. Our meal was over $50 so we were very disappointed in this experience.
We stopped here as we were passing through the state for breakfast. The service was quick and our waiter Javier was very pleasant. The menu had a plethora of options for varying dietary needs as well. Theres vegan, vegetarian, low fat, low cholesterol, and gluten free options. The items on the menu that had a heart next to the title also had some nutritional information. Their straws are compostible too. Outdoor seating available.
This place is always crowded but there is somehow always a seat available within 15 minutes! Very reasonable wait time.The food is delicious. Ive only visited here during brunch hours and I love their breakfast food. Big portions and great prices. Theres unlimited refill on coffee.The staff are all very friendly.
A very lovely diner! The inside atmosphere is really fun - the tables all have their own little personal jukeboxes, the booths are big and tall, and even just the paint on the walls and the floors all have that classic 80s vibe to them. Very retro by todays standards.The place was most clean - I think we may have caught them at a busy time because some of the floors didnt look entirely clean and the bathroom was a little messy. But it also looked like the kind of place that they proactively try to keep in good condition, and again, we probably just caught them at a busy time.The food is yummy too! Most diners Ive been to have had decent food, but still relatively mediocre. The food here, however, is much better! They serve breakfast all day too, if thats your jam (for me, it definitely is).All of the staff were friendly to us as well! No one was rude or even standoffish to us, which was awesome.Our server was great! They were also not the most attentive though - they didnt stop by our table too much, which was fine for most of the night until there was a small stretch where we all wanted refills but didnt see our server anywhere. In the end though, it wasnt a big deal, and it looked like there was another table for some big celebration or something that was taking up most of their time, which is understandable.All in all, a fun lil diner for an enjoyable dinner out! Would recommend.
The menu has great selection, including locally sourced items, and covered outdoor seating for pandemic social distancing. The service and food were both great! This will be added to my future brunch options as they have mimosas as well.
Excellent place for fairly cheap eats and great for kids. My posh sister in law from NYC loved the fresh and organic breakfast/brunch specials. The drinks could be better, but this is a diner and not a bar.
They do have a lot of outside seating under white tents. Their crab cakes, coleslaw and milkshakes are awesome. The menu has something for everyone, the food is prepared thoughtfully and presented well. Service has been great both times Ive been here (for different things). I would definitely go back!The location is convenient even though the restaurant looks odd just hanging out there by itself. Im not rating on location. Its good to know that theres ample parking.
Had a rib eye steak sandwich last night for dinner. Enjoyed it enough to return, and order an egg, bacon, and cheese sandwichThe servers both times were friendly, and helpful. Would recommend for anyone stopping in the area.
This is a great go to for breakfast anytime. They have a special Sat & Sun brunch menu which contains several seasonal specials. All around very good food, and service.
The menu here is vast! Literally something for everyone. My vegan and vegetarian friends would love this. I had the Belgian waffle (added pecans) with bacon and eggs. Everything was cooked perfectly and the waffle almost melted in my mouth. It was all so good. Can’t wait to come back for a more savory dish. Friendly waitress, though a tiny bit slow considering they weren’t busy at all. I’ll be back!!

Throughout the pandemic, Silver Diner has taken extra special care to make sure their diners and staff are safe. They offer many dining options, including outdoor, both in and out of two open tents. Their gracious staff continues to wear masks. Ive particularly enjoyed their summer specials, including the delicious vegetarian offerings, even though Im not vegetarian. We leave feeling safe, well-fed and often with another meal of left-overs.
I haven’t been at this location in a very very long time. The menu was completely different which is a great thing because almost all the items have a healthy twist. It’s a nice break from all the greasy fast food in the area. The staff was wonderful, and restaurant was clean. The only thing bothersome is some items on the menu were not available due to low supply in the ingredient needed to make it.
I have been dining at this location for over 15 years and now and felt it was beneficial to now let people know about this location. My experience with my waitress (Rachel S.) went very well. My family and I visited this establishment on Saturday. Rachel had a smile from beginning to end and while returning to our table multiple times. Rachel had visited my table multiple times ensuring we had everything that we needed and were happy. I had visited this establishment before however the waiters that we had were not as friendly and ensured many times our needs for the visit. The food was very good, what made the food and visit much better was the friendliness of Rachel S. In addition, for those who are worried about the current COVID situation, the Silver Diner has a tent outside in the parking lot which is pretty nice. Not to mention that this establishment has ensured to keep customers safe by implementing safety precautions such as HEPA cleaning tools/techniques which cleans the restaurant after hours. For those who are not familiar, the Silver Diner utilities the same safety measures that hospitals use. This should ultimately make you feel safer knowing that there is a restaurant that takes safety of its customers so serious they implement top of the line cleaning measures.
Love this spot because the food is always hot and good. They keep changing the menu which is good. My favorite is the shrimp and grits.
Great traditional diner vibes, but with a enlightened selection of classic and new Americana foods. A tasty club sandwich or a vegan option for the selective eater. They nail it on all ends. Dont forget the chocolate shake of its not going to wreck your diet!
Our food service was attentive at first then very delayed, and we had a toddler that was ready to leave. Food presentation was nice and tasted good, I had the crab Benedict. Was not a fan of the mimosa maybe Im just not ready for champagne since my 2019 baby delivery. Outdoor dining made you feel you werent at a diner with great Sunday brunch options..
Great food, great service, fun atmosphere!! I was visiting from out of town. I try to stop in every time I come back to the area. One of my favorites. Plus they were careful with my gluten allergy!!!
They never disappoint. And if they did its always 110% guaranteed youll be getting either a call or coupons from the powers that be (speaking from personal experience 😉) Anyhoo! Thank goodness theyre OPEN! I have my favourite SD and maybe Im biased but then again Ive been going there for 18 years 😆 My orders are always hot and tasty. I have too many favourite dishes so dont ask me for a recommendation 😁 Just go try it yourself.
Great family restaurant!! Best kids menu Ive ever seen PLUS the right prices for a kids menu. Also this place is super vegan friendly.. And not just a token pasta a dish. Delicious food. Love going with my family!

Food is great, and atmosphere is a fun, classic diner experience. While the menu is diverse and has plenty of options no matter your diet, and they do a great job with local ingredients, you end up paying for it in the price. That said, the food is worth it, just a bit pricier than comparable establishments. Recommend the Bison Pesto burger and the Campfire shake.
Listen, I had never had this place ever in my life. But during a trip back to VA, I found myself starving and in search of vegan food. I dont know if it was the exhaustion from the 5 hour drive or what... but those vegan tacos hit harder than any tacos Ive had in a long time!! If you try them, do yourself a favor and add the salad dressing to your taco like I did, WHEW! Ive been thinking about those tacos for 2 weeks 😂
Took my kids to enjoy the out seating. Prices were good. Food good too. I would return again and I appreciate outdoor seating options .
This was a terrible experience. Our food took over an hour to be done, when we got it my burger was burnt and my wifes food was cold. Her fries had turnt soggy and the waiter couldnt even remember our drinks (water and Sprite) the shake was good but thats it. For over an hour wait and what we got its definitely not worth the price we payed for. We wont be coming back
Good food, very health-conscious options without compromising the lovely traditional Diner experience. The music was amazing and the jukeboxes were very cool. The Turkey Bacon was a bit too salty but I was impressed to see it available! Also, attentive high-quality service

Lots of great things to say about this place, but the service on this visit was particularly good. I am always curious how Silver Diner selects their employees, who are hard working and sincere. The trendier establishments nearby at Springfield Town Center could learn a lot from them.

I visited this restaurant several weeks ago while in town for two days. The food was delicious, but that’s not the reason for this review. We had a lovely waitress whose name I unfortunately did not catch. She was bubbly and so sweet to us the entire time we were there. Amidst some of our small talk, she asked the reason for our visit. We were in town for my fathers funeral and headed to the service right after breakfast. After we finished up, we asked for the check and she replied that there wasn’t one. I was shocked, I was not expecting that at all! It was so kind and so unexpected. Thank you so much for seeing me and for understanding the pain I was trying to hide on one of the hardest days of my life. Your kindness spoke volumes about your heart and I think about you often and smile now. You just never know how a small act of kindness can stay with someone... and yours will stay with me forever. Thank you!

I get it, times are tough, but this visit was pretty bad. Overcooked bacon (hard as a rock and salty), even my Jack cheese omelet was salty when I got it! The tea was super weak as well, like a hint of tea. Portions seem like theyve gotten smaller too, or that could just be the day we visited. Either way, well stick to coming in for dinner and head to Bob and Ediths for breakfast.
I went to eat with my family and we fell in love with the place. We loved the environment and how good the food was despite the wait. Our waiter was a guy named Javi. He was the nicest waiter I’ve had in a long time. He makes sure everyone feels comfortable, he made jokes with us and actually made a good bond with my son. Totally looking forward on coming back soon!

Well..it is not really a place to eat diner food. They need to rename it skinny diner. its a health food nuts haven.open a menu, and you think youre in a vegan place. Look if youre searching for Steak, you dont go to a seafood house. So vegans ..go to a vegan place stop ruining the pleasure of eating greasy diner food!Staff was great!
The food was great, service as well. The Diner itself needs some tlc. Definitely not as clean as one would expect, especially during the covid-times were living in.
We had either the slowest or laziest server today. We ordered 2 sandwiches and waited over 30 minutes for our food. Once we got it the only thing hot was our French fries. Food did taste alright for being luke warm.
The food is good, however customer service is severely lacking. This morning I placed a takeout order which was supposed to take about thirty minutes to prepare. I show up after ten minutes and see they’re not that busy yet and they have outdoor seating at this location. Cool, I actually chose a pickup order because I have a stroller and know they don’t appreciate brining strollers indoors. So I walk in and ask if my order was ready, it wasn’t. Ask the hostess if I could switch it to eating here. The attitude. Acting like they had a line out the door and I was being so insincere. Tells me fine but you have to sit outside and not at one of the nice seats under the tent. Fine whatever. So I go outside. Wait ten minutes and no service. Then the hostess comes and plops down my food in a plastic takeout bag and says here you go, don’t make a mess and clean up after yourself. Utensils are in the bag. Then walked away. What the hell?? I can only assume they didn’t want to serve me because I already ordered my food and they were worried about a tip. Whatever. Went and bought my coffee and water up the street at the Starbucks. I can’t get over just how rude the hostess was. Can’t recommend this location. Food is pretty good though.
Great food and drinks! Customer service can be hit or miss sometimes, though overall still worthy of a visit. FYI, their beyond meat burger is absolutely delicious!

The food here is horrible. The customer service was basic! After ordering my food and the waitress getting it wrong twice. The manager finally brings out what I order. The eggs were runny and my steak was rare instead of medium-well. Im really disappointed as we drove around looking for somewhere to eat and decided to play it safe by eating here. My daughter and I have been here for over an hour and still nothing to eat. My daughter did get her food and enjoyed it.

Great place for a variety of choices. The crab corn chowder was delicious! The chicken pot pie was hardy and tasty. The stir fry was generous and flavorful. And the meatball gyro was very good. But most importantly, you must leave room for a milk shake! They are exceptional! Good prices. Friendly, knowledgeable service. Definitely worth checking out!

Been twice. Had cold eggs first time and cold fries the second time. I immediately sent the fries back. 20 minutes later we were done with our meal and the second batch of fries never arrived! Not the waiters fault. Appalling... Not Returning.
Good food in any option. Most, Vegan, Gluten free, local sourced whats in season so the menu is never the same old dishes but popular ones are back when in season.Something for everyone, and their milkshakes are Great!

This place left a lot to be desired. I got a burger and it wasnt bad. The lettuce was arugula which was interesting. The fruit didnt seem super fresh. My husband got the crab Benedict. There was barely any hollandaise sauce, the eggs were way overcooked, and the English muffin wasnt toasted. For $18 it was quite disappointing
Been going here 8 yrs. Service is always great. Food is mostly very good, and they always accommodate my moms many food allergies (a few of them lethal).
What a fun diner! It has been recommended to me on several occasions. I should have listened sooner as this was legit! We went for brunch on a Sunday and although they were packed the line for a table went quick. Less than a 10 minute wait. The staff was super friendly and the service was quick. Great all day breakfast. We will visit again.

I was quoted a 30 minute wait but when I get there, more than enough seats were available for everyone waiting. This wasnt a covid precaution as most employees werent wearing masks. My takeout order was incorrect, as well.
Fresh food and plenty of help. Service was fast even with a fairly ful restaurant. It is more pricey than some diners but you recieve the quality of food and service that you pay for. I order from or go to the restaurant almost every Sunday because I am happy with my meal every time.
Came here for breakfast Monday morning with my friends. Service was a bit slow but our server Starr was great and very friendly. Ive came here for breakfast before with my classmates. Great selection. Nice place typical diner nothing fancy. Food is alright and at a cheap price. Id prefer this over IHOP.
I thought that the 2.99 charge for unsweetened tea was a bit steep. The steak frities while tender and juicy were very good. I would have rather paired it with broccoli than regular greens. All in all a delicious lunch and comfortable environment.

Service was quick as it was not busy, I had the lumberjack breakfast sausage and eggs were cold, home fries seemed to be reheated and bacon terrible. Pancakes cold. This place as gone down hill.
Silver Diner is truly one of Springfields best local restaurants. While SD is a chain by the strictest definition, its a local chain focused on offering food made with locally sourced ingredients. SD offers amazing food, from the areas best pancakes to tasty meatloaf to scrumptious milkshakes to omelets, burgers, and much more. Their crab cakes are also quite good (get them off the lunch menu - only available on weekdays - for the best value). Their freshly baked biscuits are not to be missed, served with all natural (no HFCS) jellies.
