Alpine Hut helped me get everything I need to hit the slopes, both for snow, and biking! They have been around since the 1970s and the knowledge they have is unmatched at a ski and bike shop. It feels like family when you enter, and the service they provide is world class. I went in looking for new Aki boots, and Kyle the owner and Master Boot Fitter helped me try on as many pairs of boots as necessary until I found the perfect pair. He then carefully molded custom fit foot bed inserts so when I ski, the boots will fit absolutely perfect. Highly recommended!

Don’t get your bike tuned up here, I was overcharged and nothing was fixed. Was quoted at 80 dollars for a basic bike tune up and ended up spending 110 for literally nothing to be done to my bike. Was told it would take 1 week max, my bike was at alpine hut for 3 weeks total.I went in specifically for a derailer issue, and when I asked about if it was worked on, there were no notes on it.I’ve never been so frustrated with something I thought would be straightforward. After going on a ride after the “tune up” my chain still skips on the exact gear I told the employee about.Won’t be back, and recommend (Free range bike shop in Fremont - all female group who tells you upfront how / when this will be done to your bike) !! other places in Seattle to get a proper tune up with better quality customer service.

Mixed experience - I dont plan to go back here. They did some solid work, and accommodated some unique requests (drilling a hole in a steel frame to route internal dropper cable), but were not organized, did not respect my time, and overcharged. On one hand, this place was close to my house, and they were able to fit me in during what is a very busy time for bike maintenance etc. I wanted to build up a frame and replace/transfer components on another bike.Their lead mechanic did a great job with my drivetrain swap, though he mixed up the handlebars between bikes. No biggy, and he replaced it.I had given them a printout listing al the parts and indicated which components went on which bike, but that seemed to have been misplaced or discarded because later on Kyle mentioned it was me not being clear about which bike should get which handlebar, resulting in an extra wrap job.For the 2nd bike (built up from frame), they had this bike for just shy of 2 months before I actually went home with it. They struggled with the brake bleed, which I understand that there can be technical difficulties, but I was told it was ready no less than 4 or 5 times, and came in to pick it up only to try it out and find the brakes were garbage. Ultimately they discovered that it was a brake seal needing replacement. The mechanic should have tried out the brakes himself before calling me in!Another issue I found is that we had discussed moving my dropper post over to the new frame. The new frame did not have internal routing, so the mechanic left it disconnect without saying anything to me about it. So that was another time I came to pick it up and then left it. Another week goes by, the mechanic didnt drill the hole. Then the owner, Kyle, charged me $160 to drill the hole for the internal routing in the steel frame. He claimed 3 hours of work for this - I get this is non standard, but had I known I wouldve been charged so much money, I could have dremeled it out myself. This cant be more than a 30 minute job!All in, I was charged just shy of $937 for two bike build-ups, drilling/filing a hole, and a seperate brake pad change. And, I wasted a ton of my time coming in repeatedly to pick up a bike that was not ready. In the end the bikes turned out well, but with a lot of expense and headache. I plan to find another shop.

I went here to get some Zipfit liners for my ski boots. They were very knowledgeable and helped me get an amazing fit. I still be need to ski the boots before reviewing the liners themselves, but based on how they felt in the shop, I have high hopes. I’m an east wider, but I will definitely go back for boot fitting needs if I need them in the future. I also liked that they were by appointment and keeping the shop clear of too many people for covid safety.

I’ve had two skis mounted here in the past with no issues. This time I got a third pair mounted and was bummed when I picked them up and saw a small chip at the tip of the top sheet. I’d just gotten them and had inspected them before dropping them off so I’m sure it wasn’t there already. Kind of sad to see that before even taking them out on the slopes. I hope they’ll be more careful in the future with people’s gear.

If you have any self respect, youll go there. If you have the courage to be completely honest with them (your real abilities and goals) and form your own opinion and not that of some online or trade opinion, youll go there. These guys dont sell you a product, the fit the product to you! If your budget minded, but care about quality and value, youll go there. Ive skied for almost forty years, bought many of equipment, and the service these guys provide is unmatched. I made my first visit to the Alpine Hut recently (yes, Im an out of state transplant from a certain state thats very proud of its snow) to get new boots for my adult daughter, and if I havent express how impressed with how they operate, let me just say these guys do an incredible job!!!! I am a fan!! Having said that, they get really busy if you go during peak season times. Its a small shop with a really big inventory, you have to be patient sometimes (yes there are other people in this world), but again, if you check your ego at the door, you will be rewarded more than you thought possible, because youll walk out with the right equipment that fits you, your style, and your ability. Peace.

In 2015, I went shopping for a new bike and went to 12 bike shops throughout Seattle. I wasnt planning on going to Alpine Hut, but I ran into another lady at a couple shops who recommended I head over - and now I cant speak highly enough of them! They have less of a selection of road bikes thank other places I looked, but the staff is all very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Their prices are good, and the store dog is super sweet. I love that with purchase of a new bike, you get 2 years free services and a free bike fitting. Im not great with bikes, and they happily answer all of my questions and were fine with me stopping by multiple times a week with minor questions for the first few weeks I had my new bike.

So I cannot say how much the guys at Alpine Hut stepped up and saved the day. I just picked up some new Icelantic skis along with some Salomon Shift touring bindings and Lange XT Free 130 boots. I did not purchase them from the Hut, however after today I plan to make my ski and cycling purchases here.So how they saved the day... I plan to take my son up skiing for the first time when he gets home tomorrow. Little does he know a pair of Volkl Mantas are waiting for him. In order for this to happen I needed my bindings mounted and I wanted to learn a little more about my Lange boots. So when I arrived I could see they were busy but in a very brief explanation (didnt even mention my kid) that I needed my skis back today so I could head up tomorrow, they went out of their way and made it happen in just a couple hours. This my friends is pure customer service at its best! Not only did they hook up my skis, their resident ski/boot guy went over my questions about my boots. Where as another shop had tried to talk me into heat molding my liners now, my new friend said to hold off and ski the boots several times as the liners would mold from use and explained why this was a better method. He could have told me otherwise and I would have paid to have the heat molding, but he didnt try to sell me and focused on the best method to using my boots. He did say once I wear the boots several times if there is a spot which isnt fitting perfect then he could set up to heat mold them.To finish my story, I have my new skis all set up for tomorrow and have these guys to thank!

This review is for ski boots.i don’t usually write reviews, but these guys are an epitome of both expertise and customer service. Jim (the boot fitter) walked me through 8 pairs (at least) before narrowing down the right fit. He was super patient, extremely knowledgeable, and demonstrated foresight in helping make a selection. All this without any upsell or any sign of disinterest (he sat with me 45 min after store close on Friday night). It was very impressive that he applied my feedback to the millimeter to get right fit. Kyle (the owner) is pretty funny btw and for me summed up what this store is about “we are bootfitters by profession not sellers”. Very impressive - highly recommend!

I am new to skiing and have been to REI several times to learn more about skiing gear before making an investment. I have tried different lengths of skis through rentals at various resorts. I went into Alpine Hut after a friend recommended going. We went during a sale and were still happy with the selection available.I was first helped to find a ski that was good for my height and ability. The big stores do not have experts. I was told to look at the numbers on a ski by an employee at REI, but I do not know what my ability is or the numbers mean. The information did not help or make me feel comfortable spending a few hundred dollars on a ski that I will be using for the next couple years. After finding a ski with help from one of their employees, I met Kyle, who found a boot to fit. I had bought a boot the night before at REI with little help on what is good. I bought a boot that was 2.5 mondo sizes larger than I needed. Kyle was very knowledgeable and made sure I received all the gear I needed. He was patient when I tried on many boots. They fit the boot and not a price. They also set me up with bindings and poles.I added up what I was going to spend at REI at their winter sale of the skis, boots, and poles I was considering. Alpine Hut ended up being roughly the same price range. I went out skiing the next day and felt way more confident on the skis they sold me than on any other ones I have rented. I am one satisfied customer!
