Half Price Books store is a gold mine. Excellent selection of used and new books, old vinyl records, compact disc music, and used games. Family friendly, kids love it we spend hours lounging and reading books. I have purchased several old Nintendo DS games and vinyl records. knowledgeable staff and excellent service

This location has a good selection, keep in mind it can be limited because of the books they receive. The employees are pretty friendly and helpful. Obviously, the prices are good. The one complaint I have is that the Central America section is full of books on Mexico. Might seem like a minor detail if it werent for the fact that countries like Canada and Israel have their own section. I mentioned the mistake so hopefully it gets addressed.

A treasure hunt of all sorts of cool stuff past and present. Not just books. They have tons of CDs, DVDs, records, and all around unique items.

This location is huge compared to others I’ve visited. I can usually always find at least 2-3 good books while visiting. Staff is friendly as well. Love this store chain!

Manager was very rude & kicked us out. Was stubborn about masks when the employees or other customers didn’t have them or weren’t even worn properly.

I came here couple times to sell old books. It was way too much work to sell it on fb marketplace so im glad i found this place. You do need yr ID so don’t forget that like i did first time. Prices depend on the book. I personally do not have much complaints about it. U can also come here n buy variety of books dvd etc. pretty cool place

Acceptible selection and prices but not nearly as good as the more suburban locations. Obviously this is entirely dependant on who goes to what location, but Ive gotten some insultingly low-ball offers from this one. They also refuse to itemize value for selling, so youre either taking in one thing at a time or getting screwed.Good location for buying, but dont sell your books here.

Smaller store with a smaller inventory of the types of books that we look for, but otherwise great staff and nice and clean store 😀

Very nice and clean, found rare books from my childhood I have been looking for forever.Negative: technology is still in the stone age. Could not pay with Android pay, Samsung Pay, nothing. All computers for registers have mice and are really slow. Impacts quality of service quite severely.

Found some excellent books for myself and manga for my daughter at very reasonable prices.

Half price books is a great place to find a little bit of everything. Old to new books, movies, games, and even gaming consoles. They buy and sell items and have some rare collectors items as well. This place is definetley worth anyones time if your looking for anything from rare to new. I constantly walk out of there with things I didnt even know I wanted.

Neither good or bad. The prices are not very attractive whether you buy or sell books and other items, but you can find some cheap useless stuff that you can repurpose - I bought some vinyl to use to decorate a retro party.

Been going to my local HPB for ~10 years and Ive never had a bad experience. Great prices and I almost always find some hidden gem that Id simply never see at a chain bookstore. Ive also sold with this store and made some good money back - its a great system for people who read a lot or consume a lot of other content (games, movies, music) but dont have a ton of cash to spend.

Been there only once and its already my fav place in Schaumburg. If I had a choice between a restaurant and this place, the restaurant would never get its turn. Super friendly staff. Please go there!

1/2 price or not, you can walk out spending more than you thought. The selections are plenty some.

I like the business model of HPB: buy low, sell high(er). Theres always a congenial staff, and its easy to find whats in stock. Each location has a different selection and store layout.

One of the very few bookstores still in the area

Love the staff and the prices are great. My son needed a book for English and they went in the back and found two extra copies. They made sure it was in good condition and made my night. Even with Covid we can still show kindness from a respected distance. Great manager great staff.

40 dollars for about 300 music CDs felt a bit low balled, but it was for a friend who didnt want them and doesnt drive, so I took the offer.

Pretty good selection sometimes high prices for being used. Sadly not the greatest for resale. I had gotten a book from them for like $10 and ended up deciding to resell it back and they gave me 25cents for it. So that was disappointing.

This place is Awsome ! Been so long since I have been in a bookstore mainly because they seem to have disappeared. This was a treasure trove of everything you could imagine with a polite staff super clean store and so many options. They have a bit of everything and even vintage games and gaming memorabilia. The prices are super low I walked out with 4 hard cover books for less than 30 dollars which was a steal. I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to finish these and go back and get more !

Great place to buy books that are inexpensive.

One of the Best places to check out vinyl records. You can buy recent releases of some artists or browse through the misc gems they have. Each time I go I leave with something new (to myself) so its worth the trip.

Very overwhelming. So many different kinds of books, but hard to find some categories. ( I.e painting,dog training) Just did not find what I was looking for at the moment.

Such great customer service and such great deals. i called to get a few books for some of my employees and one of their associates, Ryan, was so amazing with helping me on the phone. he was extremely patient and looked up multiple books for me to see how many were in stock and even went the extra mile to insure they would be waiting for me at the front to just check out. i couldnt NOT write a positive review because of how well he conducted himself on the phone. not something that you see most places anymore, very impressed.

When i go in just to browse, Im never disappointed. I find some very cool vinyls and awesome reads. Prices are good and the store is clean.

I absolutely love this location. I really wish I got the associates name that shared similar interests in reading as I, he made incredible suggestions when I asked as he was stocking shelves. 2 of the 5 he recommended ended up being my favorites ever. I shop here every two weeks. And will continue to do so!

Honestly, this is my closest location and the selection of books is insane. They have everything from books to dvds to board games to videogames. Prices are a real steal aswell I highly recommend!

Very clean and well organized, as they are adapting for in-store shopping. Plexiglass shields at registers, hand sanitizer at door, with an employee keeping track of the limited amount of customers they allow in their store at one time. I felt very safe shopping there!

Soon to rebrand itself as Twice the Price Merchandise, this “Half Price Books,” located right in the heart of SCAMburg, has a wonderful history of taking advantage of buyers and sellers alike. Complete with a cashier who is somehow more annoyingly fake than Nina (the receptionist) from Office Space. I didn’t even know that was possible.

Half price books is a great place to find all sorts of unique and fun things. The staff is really helpful and knowledgeable over a wide branch of topics and items. They take time out to help you and make sure you get what you need. They have a large selection, clean space AND FREE coffee for everyone who comes in. All in all amazing place. Highly recommend.

You basically get pennies back for anything you sell to them. Then they turn it around and sell it for a 90% markup. I mean if its between selling it there or giving it to goodwill. Better then nothing I suppose.

I love this place. It unfortunately is hard to look at the books when its so crowded. The isles arent wide enough. They didnt happen to have the book I was hoping for, but I certainly found others! The checkout line went all the way to the back of the store because of the coupon deal going on. But it goes quicker than you would think. They have the best employees working at their stores. Always friendly, helpful and really seem like they want to be there!

I love how they separate out their DVD collection and they got me hook line and sinker the first time I visited by having a two volume book Ive been after for years.
