We ordered our food and were given a buzzer to let us know when the food was ready. We sat outside, which they knew. The buzzer never went off, and we didn’t order anything complicated, so after about 20-30 minutes we went to check. There was our food sitting on the counter like no big deal. No initiative to come see why we hadn’t picked it up. (It wasn’t busy and, again, they knew we were outside.)I took the food without knowing it had been there for a while, but it turned out to be cold.I took it back inside to explain that they never buzzed us and the food was cold and we would like it remade. No one offered any apologies, neither in English or Spanish. The possible manager that came over treated me like some uppity person from the mainland, as if a hot breakfast that we paid for was asking too much. The food turned out to be fine, but could’ve been a lot better if it hadn’t been tainted by the non existent customer service.
Average bakery with not too many choices. What they did have was very good. I had a mallorca de jamón y queso and it was good. The staff was not very friendly, and they got my order wrong, even after waiting 15 minutes for a few pastries. Overall not a bad experience, but definitely has room for improvement!
Awesome authentic Puerto Rican breakfast spot. The coffee was THE BEST!!! Highly recommended. Was open on a Sunday early in the morning as well which was really handy.
Great coffee and quesito. A little slow but the guy must have been new because he kept asking the others how to use the machine and couldnt find the lids for cups.
Waited 30 minutes for a coffee and a pastry that was already made. The pastry was from the day prior and hard, I was expecting fresh bread since it is a bakery….
Donuts taste like cardboard:( people were nice
Service was ok, lots of food on the plate but def not good. We got the breakfast plate, they were out if few ingredients and Meat tasted weird, very disappointing. Coffee was great!
We were on a cruise and in San Juan for the day. We were looking for a place to grab a quick bite to eat close to the cruise port in Old San Juan when we found Pilao. It was very inviting and the staff was friendly. We ordered the chicken and beef empanadas, which were delicious, and iced coffee with Expresso shots. They also had pastries, sandwiches and a variety of other drinks from beer to wine on the menu. Great place to sit back, relax and have a bite to eat. The prices were also very reasonable.
The cafe it’s self is very cute however the lady taking orders with the red glasses over the counter was incredibly RUDE. She clearly did not want to be at work 5/5/2021 @ 10:00am. Every time more customers walked in she would roll her eyes and take deep breaths. Keep her if you want to loose customers. The food was not very good either but it is filling to get you by the morning. Avoid this spot, at least for breakfast.
Terrible experience. As we were ordering, the cashier kept getting distracted and we had to repeat our order several times. We ordered waffles that came with scrambled eggs and a plate of scrambled eggs with veggies and toast and a macchiato. Our food came out in about 5-8 minutes. My eggs and waffles were cold. After 15 minutes, we were still waiting on our macchiato. With 3 people working the barista station, we finally got out coffee. It was scalding hot and tasted like burnt coffee grounds. I would definitely not recommend this place.
Loved the pastrami sandwich with added salad even though they did not include the side of chips. The french toasts topped with fresh fruits and Nutella tastes good. However, the waffles lacked flavor and were kind of soggy. Would like the cashier to pay more attention to the customers orders.
The wrap was amazing and the coffee was so good!! I recommend this place for a good Morning breakfast
The best coffee, great prices, the best typical sandwiches! Very generous servings. High quality and clean food!Excellent!!!
Ordered egg white platter with spinach peppers and onions, got scrambled eggs topped with salad. The eggs seemed to be frozen eggs, we also ordered eggs with ham and toast. Got the same eggs with undercooked bacon, sausage and one slice of ham. Feed most of the food to the birds. Too pricey for the quality of the food. Will never again eat there
TERRIBLE SERVICE AND COLD FOOD. Waited 30 minutes for cold scrambled eggs and an undercooked waffle, while the place was empty. Due to COVID, I asked if the server could wipe our table because someone had just eaten there and it was dirty. The server just told me to take the bottle of alcohol and some napkins to wipe it down myself. When we finally got our cold food, I told the server we were not pleased and she replied there was nothing she could do. I then proceeded to ask for the manager’s phone number (since there was no manager present) and she didn’t hesitate one second to give me my money back. I was never given the manager’s number and much less, an apology. Pilao is destined to fail.
Great coffee and probably the best carrot cake. Excellent attention and service, and reasonable prices. Although I only ate the carrot cake, the rest of the desserts there looked delicious and I had a hard time deciding what to eat. Id definitely repeat my visit.
The foods ok and prices are reasonable, but there is practically no seating inside. Youll have to eat outside where youll need to fight overly aggressive Raven-looking birds that are also trying to eat your food. They also dont have any sugar free syrups for their lattes.
Outstanding customer service. Super friendly and attentive staff. I run a retail business in Atlanta and I wish I could steal this staff for myself. Excellent food and outstanding service. Great job.
Waited an hour for my food just to find out they gave my order to someone else. To make things worse they ran out of the items so I couldn’t get what I wanted at all. Terrible experience, don’t come here unless you want your time wasted
Amazing food, amazing service, kindest people! If you don’t come here you are truly missing out on a great experience!
Food was awful (at least the egg dish and the local-looking baked goods we got). The service was not rude and probably still asleep since they forgot our coffees, which were actually decent (especially since they were Americanos where the bad taste would have been impossible to hide, so kudos). Should have read the reviews mentioning tasteless food first and gotten donuts or something. Won’t go back to risk repeated disappointment though. The second star is for the fact that the place was at all open at 8am and we could sit down to consume our breakfast in times of Covid.
Decent food. Reasonable prices
Fresh, tasty food in a decent price. Definitely worth checking this place out!!!
The best coffee, breakfast and the best donuts even with a Starbucks across the street i smelled their coffee i just had to give it a try I highly recommend this place and every one is so pleasant i am going to miss you guys
Salmon and the bread that came with it was 11/10. Everything else we had was just good.
Great food and service...will come back
The service is consistently horrible. Today will be the last time I ever go there.
Got a breakfast item ‘viejo’ something. The eggs tasted like ones you’d get at a bed and breakfast, tasteless, the bacon wasn’t bad but the ham seemed like it was a low quality ham you find in a packet at a grocery store. The coffee wasn’t terrible not great The staff were very friendly and the presentation of the food was remarkable, making me feel bad for the lower rating. If you go here and have exhausted better options in the area, perhaps the bakery items are good but stay away from the eggs.
I love this place! Excellent food, can you tell me who the artist in the photo of the Man holding the bean?
Beef patty different but delicious.
Eh. Food looked amazing, but lacked taste. I had to repeatedly ask for a to go box & restroom - never was shown where restroom was to wash my hands
Delicious Breakfast in San Juan and Great Service!Large Portions too!
Great coffee and menu options, staff is very friendly and always offer customized food options. Great for coffee, quick bite and work remotely.
Quaint little cafe with great coffee and breakfast!
Really good pastries.
Breakfast was amazing. The coffee fresh and delicious.
Great food, comfortable place with nice people to take your order.
Best café con leche I had in the Island. Good quick breakfast. Reasonable prices.
The breakfast was not as expected because the bacon was greasy and not crispy. The cream of corn was good but the macchiato great.
The breakfast portions are very generous, though I wouldnt recommend getting the egg white omelette.
Best cafe con leche! Sandwiches are stacked with meat and homemade bread is to die for.
Great food with wonderful presentation. The Tamarind juice is not on the menu but worth trying out.
Couldnt ask for anything more... The coffee was great, the frapeado even the mocha tasted deliciously of coffee with a small amount of chocolate and not crazy sweet, and the quesito was hmmm mmm mmm. 😁Check them out and enjoy a local ☕ the way it should be!!!
Love the vibe and great tasting coffee too!
Would give it 0 stars if i could. Waited 1/2 an hour for the food. The pancakes were cold. Couldnt take the food back because the line was taking forever and I had to be somewhere.
Staff are very kind and very educated on their merchandise. I’ll likely be stopping here again today after walking around the fort.
It has potential but it can improve...Decoration is nice, ambiance is charming.Food: I find a bit to expensive to pay for 8$ for 2eggs a few pieces pieces of ham, 3 little rolls of bread and a bottle of water.Service: its modest, but I felt like the employes are not really focus on their job and they customer care makes you want to leave as soon as you finish eating.
Good food long wait.
Food was great but took 45 minutes to get 2 sandwiches.
Did breakfast here, really good but it was a one time thing for us.
Great location, good service
Excellent service, friendly staff and best food.
They have a decent version of a cuban sandwich
Good but service is very lento in the mornings.
Great place
Good
For relatively low prices compared with the Starbucks just down the road youll get friendly yet slow service with a limited variety of pastries.
Terrible Service!
Ricoooooo
Terrible food and terrible service. Waited almost an hour for breakfast and then it was not what I ordered.
Great for tourists. 🌴🛩
Good coffee!
Nice place to have breakfast.
Very good coffee and pastries

The donuts are great!
Great Breakfast❤
Good place.
Just good enough!!!
Excellent
Great coffee!!!!
Super......👍👍👍👍
Some cousins who are visiting the island brought us a piece of carrot cake from their establishment. The best Ive ever had! Highly recommended!
It is the first time we visit this place and it is the last time. We arrived at 10:15 am and they still havent served. We had to wait more than 50 minutes for a breakfast because they forgot to make it. Its not because my husband asks, they realized they hadnt done it. We had to see how the people who came after us served him.Terrible service.
Excellent bakery with a great location in Old San Juan, has a very varied menu. The customer service very good, breakfast was prepared quickly, with a good presentation and good taste.Excellent bakery with a great location in Old San Juan, has a very varied menu. Excellent meal. Excellent location.
I do not recommend it. Bad service. And they dont have bread available when its a bakery. Desserts are not made there. They shouldnt be called a bakery. Just Pilao.
5 people, one client ... 30 mins to conrar two bottles of water.
Supposedly its a bakery but they dont have bread, amazing 😡🤡
Whenever I go I do it usual in the morning, today I went to lad three and they were already closed when the website said that they closed at 8 PM I dont understand I hope the guys in the morning are still as friendly as ever.
It is a welcoming place. Your employees are young and friendly in the deal. The coffee is exquisite, and the like breakfast. The only thing that would improve riempo is waiting for the client. It was my first and most who appreciates a hungry person is who have not forgotten their order. After we had to wait too long, they had to redo the order because it was not what we ordered. They should take more seriously your business because you are part of the face of Puerto Rico to tourists.
