Beautiful and cozy space located right next to Hotel plaza de Armas and the plaza itself. The decor is fantastic, especially a a painting inside titled “Mago y su Viaje”, which seems to just blend in with the wall.The service is fast and in addition to coffee you can also find empanadas and an assortment of local pastries. Overall, Caldera Café it’s a great morning stop!

I was so grateful to find a place that not only was patient with my sadly lacking Spanish (not necessary; just about everyone speaks English too), but they offered almond milk for my lactose-intolerant stomach! I had a deliciously satisfying breakfast of a strong, frothy almond milk latte and an empanada. Perfect start to a day of exploring Old San Juan.

Coffee was delicious and empanadas were really good. Food needed a little more salt and pepper, but was prepared well. Staff super friendly. Would return.

My boyfriend and I grabbed coffee and empanadas here on New Year’s Day, which was super busy because so few places were open. They had great service, were super sweet, and the food and coffee were excellent!!

This place is closed currently. It looks like it is due to COVID so hopefully they will re-open soon!

Unassuming place with a surprisingly large selection of bites. Coffee comes in paper cups, but tastes great. Friendly service. Broccoli empanada was delicious

Cool little café right at my hotel, Viejo San Juan.Short but sufficient breakfast menu. Friendly staff, free WiFi and fantastic Puerto Rican coffee.Try their Cortaito... they have a double version.

The best coffee shop in Old San Juan! They have options for vegans and vegetarians. The natural juices are spectacular and the coffee is 100% local in Maricao, plus breakfast all day. I totally recommend it!
