For such a small store front its amazing how much product they can accomodate. There has been rare occassion where I have needed to make a run to a large hardware store because Handy Handyman Hardware didnt have what I needed. Everyone is always incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about all the random home repair, plant stuff, or craft Im trying to complete. They are super sweet to my dog and always have treats for him and considering the amount of crazy that walks in off the street being the corner of Church and Market, they always have a smile and an awesome disposition. So happy to have a neighborhood hardware store.

They have a HUGE selection of everything and are super helpful, both in person and over the phone. Convenient location too. Would definitely come here again.

Just moved into the area and love this hardware store. Dont let the size of the storefront fool you. The hardware store is actually large. The staff is very helpful, courteous and kind. My cute chihuahua, Penny, gets all kinds of attention from the entire staff. And did I mention their prices are very reasonable? This store and employees won me as a customer for life.

Service: Definitely not top tier. The staff is helpful but isnt the most friendly.Convenience: Location is great since you can walk in and out and they have more than just hardware goodsPrice & Variety: They probably have what you need but comes at the cost of comfort since the store is packed to the brim where the aisles can barely fit one person. This also isnt the cheapest store either.Overall an OK option if youre just looking for something quick and easy but dont expect to get exception service or getting outstanding advice or help.

Ive lived nearby this adorable hole-in-the-wall hardware store for nearly two decades. Theyve always had what I need as well as the advice I need to get my diy home projects done.Important note. If you go to their site and search for items, youll get a list of other Ace Hardware stores in SF nearby (Cole Valley is the closest) that have the item and likely be told that this store on Market doesnt have it in stock. My advice - call them. They likely have it. I realized this the other day when I needed to buy a drill and a 1 inch wood boring drill bit. These are VERY common items for any hardware store to have. When the site indicated they were out of stock I was shocked. I did not want to walk to Cole Valley to grab these items. So I called. They not only had them in stock, they bad a lot of choices for each, including the ones I actually wanted to purchase when looking online. It may be an inventory management issue or something but dont let that cause you to go to a store outside your neighborhood. Just call and check.

Their customer service is excellent! Very happy to have them in my neighborhood! And for a store as physically small as theirs is, they have a surprisingly large amount of supplies available.

Ace Hardware has excellent service, high quality merchandise and low prices, the perfect trifecta for consumers.

I needed to get some rubber gloves they were right when you walked in, and needed a Halogen light bulb for a lamp Staff very friendly and Helpful.

I use to love this store because not only was the staff pleasant and available to assist you...they knew everything there was to know about their merchandise and their store. Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks This slogan does not apply to this particular store. I guess thats the problem with private ownership of stores such as this. I believe the woman owner is cutting corner by hireing teenagers working for minimum wage working after school and on weekends. The only other adult working there seems bothered and uninteresred, almost irritated when having to deal with costumers. He doesnt know the merchandising and thinks customer service is pointing to the downstairs area to direct you to your product. There are a few young folks there that are friendly but most of them have no personal skills what so ever. The owner is unfrienly and always seems bored. I use to go in there all the time but now I dont waste my time or money. The only thing about this store has that resembels the Ace name, is the sign out front and the logo on the Ace product line in the store. Id rather pay way too much money for the same products at Clifts Variety and deal with people that know their trade and product line.

Great selection of goods, and extremely friendly and helpful staff. I went in with a loose idea for a project. An employee - Rod (Rodrich?) - helped me from start to finish, designing a plan and finding all the pieces. Highly recommend!

Doing a job for my friend and spending my own money for the project. So Im looking for the cheapest materials that will do double duty for the job. Im stopped because of the way I look after I pay cash for the items like I stole something, which I didnt. The man in question stood in front of the doors and reached into my pockets. I find this offensive at over 40 years of age and doing carpentry off and on for the past 15 years.

Neighborhood place but not very neighborly to pick some quick hardware supplies... But wouldnt take back a box of nails I didnt even use. Opened the box but half the boxes down in the nails section of aisle 1 are already open. The nails turned out to be too long. I asked the cashier lady to throw the box of nails away in the trash can right behind her since I had no use for them. Definitely doesnt have the reputation of an Ace Hardware store. Too bad. 10/13/2018 1:15pm. Will not be coming here for my my needs... Ill drive to Lowes instead and spend myself money elsewhere.

They’ve got a lot on the main level - give yourself five extra minutes to look around! Lots of essentials and gadgets/contraptions/doohickeys for the home and kitchen. Good prices and convenient location too

This is really the place to go for anything from key cutting, knife sharpening (!) to the most random screw you might need. The staff is so friendly and always has great advice. Highly recommend!

Showed up at 8:01p on Friday, The guys were inside laughing it up, pointing to the clock and saying that they were closed. Hey if I wanted places to behave like robots then I would shop on Amazon. Yeah Im going to buy it on Amazon. Youre not subject to employee laziness.

Helpful and kind staff with a well stocked inventory containing everything youd need from a local hardware store.This location DOES have small equipment rentals (think power drill) at a reasonable price.Definitely check this place out.

Helpful staff who are both courteous & knowledgeable. Parking may always be an issue but there are a few bus lines that go by the store.. when Muni is running normally again after this CoVid 19 fiasco. The 22 Fillmore, 37 Corbett, F Market, J Church, M Ocean, K Ingleside the stop you would get off at is Church and Market. Oddly designed store as there space is somewhat smaller than most but they have everything in that store to suit your needs

Scott was so great in assisting me with questions about the light bulbs. He works at the front counter, and even walked down the aisle to show me what they had in a certain style. He really appreciates the local folks, and I highly recommend we support this business thanks to him!

They have a lot of tools and they have a good team that will assist you and guide you. They have a best small carpets, they have all kinds of household items and its a great place to viait when starting repairs.

On the outside both of the signs say Ace Hardware, but the store is actually Handy Handyman Hardware.The store has a wide variety of items from bits and bobs which may be needed to repair small or large items within your house to kitchen goods to random every day needs such as tool sharpening.The store is two levels and the staircase is in the back. The store also offers battery recycling.The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable and always willing to help you with whatever questions you may have.Handy Handyman Hardware is located close to the Church St. Muni stop as well as a few public transportation bus lines.

They have a great selection given how small the place is, sometimes some of the staff aren’t helpful but others usually pick up the slack.

The counter monkeys are more than friendly, always willing to lend me a bit of masking tape when I stop by and ask for it and they are also hot.I work in hardware. Hot guys are hard to find. A+ to the manager.

Generally, this is a good store, however dont buy a charger unless you really need it. Manager has no room for flexibility for the customer. I was informed that the charger couldnt bereturned even though it was never used.

Neighborhood hardware store. My $ is better spent there then at Amazon. Staff is friendly and very helpful. And they have a tremendous assortment of goods in that space.

Its a pretty good hardware store good selection prices arent too crazy high the only slight issue I would say with the store isnt there a little bit strict on their return policy like if you dont have the receipt ( which makes sense when its something of value) but when its a bag of screws that you got the wrong kind and theyre hesitant to let you exchange them.... that I have a little bit of a problem with .......especially when youre a regular customer.

I went in yesterday afternoon and the guy wouldn’t stop following me around because I had a black hoodie on, I didn’t really mind at first but after 10 minutes passed he was still behind me for no reason I went in for a piece of wood(no one would steal wood). When I went to the front cashier I told her and she said it’s because the way I looked and because the color of my skin it’s normal for her employees to follow people that fall in that category. I am truly disgusted and disappointed because it happened in my own community NEVER GOING BACK! Racist white people working there!

This place is like walking into the bookstore from the NeverEnding Story, only its for tools and stuff. I go here when I realize something in my house is broken, and when I have a question about something, the guys there know exactly where the thing I need is. Its two floors, they have a ton of products, and all in all a very good small-time hardware shop. The staff are also pretty friendly and easy-going, which I can appreciate.

Closer than cliffs with your basic selection of hardware and stuff crammed into a two-level cavern. The staff is mostly nice and helpful, and frequently sexy.

This is the best hardware store EVER!!!! everyone that works here is extremely knowledgable and willing to take the time to explain whatever project you need to do. i just went in looking for a plunger....having NEVER done it. i was queasy and upset at the thought of having to face down plunging a toilet. the men that helped me were encouraging and gentle. AND they didnt make me feel like an idiot!!!thank you ace hardware for empowering this old lady!!!

Every time I have been in to Ace on Church I always find what I need. Everyone is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. There is *tons* of stuff in the store and I wouldnt have been able to find what I needed with the help of the nice staff there.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! First I get hit on by one sales clerk who offers to fix anything I need when he gets off at 8. Then when I realize that hes not going to be any help I try to find the things I need on my own. But NO! they cant just leave me alone. So the other guy follows me around so I finally just ask him to help me find what Im looking for. He shows me then stands there while I try to decide then makes some comment that they are closing soon. I said No your not, not for another 45 mins. His response to that was, Well, you have a bag.!!!! WTH!!!! So I agreed with him and explained that its my purse and opened it up to show him the contents and said if he is so worried about my purse then he can look through it again before I leave, but I was not going to leave it with them with my money, ID, credit cards in it. Ive worked in a couple of hardware stores for several years and have way more knowledge than these sorry excuses for customer service. Why do jerks like these two have to make it so hard for a female to do any kind of DIY projects without trying to make themselves feel superior?? Im done with neighborhood Ace Hardware stores. Lowes here I come.

Young cashier with brown hair/beard is incredibly rude and unhelpful. No eye contact, barely responds - this has been the behavior on multiple times.

Recently invested in a bit of exotic hardwoods including purple heart and zebra wood both from africa. I was browsing from polycrylic to decorative corners, hinges, and latches. Out of nowhere Im told that my sideways SF hat is the motivemail in a refusal of service. I showed them 3000$ and told them I haveven 2 cars and most of all, a mother-in-law that I was making one of the boxes for. I will NEVER shop ace again, always been a favorite til now. They sure know how to pik em.

Have a great selection for just about anything you might need for your home. Theres a downstairs too. This place has it all.

Good selection, staff is helpful but some are stubborn. Had they had more options for smaller size as few things needed all were in big size of which only 2-3% of Ive used.

The employees literally shut the door on my face 5 minutes before closing and wouldnt make eye contact after doing so. I needed literally one thing and I get that people want to leave work, but it was still before the store was supposed to close. I was carrying a giant box too which made the situation all the more upsetting
