My favorite book store ever! Nicely eclectic selection, a cool little art gallery in the back, and a nice classic look. Love browsing here and checking out the art, on of my goto places to visit in SF.

Ive only been here once but it immediately jumped onto my Top Ten Indie Bookstore. Great selection of poetry, social justice and everything needed to start and/or fight in the Resistance. There is an art gallery, fun kids section and they host lots of events.Remember to Ask Raul about Proust. I got one of his book recommendations too.

I was happy to find a book store in the neighborhood. Ive been there twice and they could be a little more helpful instead of just staring at me like Im an alien or something the whole time I look around lol. However they have an okay selection for a little book store. Alot of sketchbooks and notebooks and I think they offer some kindbof art classes as well.

I was really quite disappointed in the size of their fantasy, history, and anthropology sections. The place is quite bright and open, but unfortunately the off-kilter jazz they had playing drove me back out into the rain in record time. While the guy behind the counter wasnt rude, I had to drag his attention away from his phone to ask if I could check out.Overall? I would not recommend.

I am generally a fan of bookstores, and when exploring cities always try to find and go in any bookstores that are in the area. Of all the small independent bookstores I have been to, I must this is probably the best one - their selection is fantastically eclectic and large, the place was quiet and not too full, and the gallery at the back actually had some good art I enjoyed looking at. I ended up finding three little obscure books I could not help but buy while browsing - a book of short stories by Sartre, a short non-fiction book by George Orwell, and a collection of Soviet poetry in both English and Russian - which is the sort of experience you just cannot have on Amazon and why I still relish places like this.

This place is truly a gem. I took my girlfriend here on our little staycation and she ended up grabbing a lot of books. I love how the store is presented and the books they have in each designated location. If youre into books definitely come visit, youll probably end up picking one or two books out on the way home.

I want to say 4.5 stars, a smaller, younger and hipper iteration of City Lights and worthy of the mantle. Nice place to be in, and carry lots of good books, used and new. Large kids sections, and cooking. The neighborhood now makes for an interesting walk on this side of 24th St.

Gone down hill from my last visit with whole back area gone with regards to books. Somone commented about the great staff. REALLY? Did you get paid to write that? My guy was the quintessential angry liberal fascist with a giant attitude listening to 80s retro and thinking its cool to paint his nails with multicolored polish. Sorry kid, the angry liberal with pseudo avant-garde tastes is a dreary 20th century relic to me. Not impressed with whats left of the selection either.

They host a board game night in the back on occasion, which is pretty cool, except the type of people who regularly go to board game nights arent the type of people who can carry on non-awkward conversations. Thats why you just look at books and ignore them.
