Awesome locally female owned pottery store. Been a staple in OB for over 20 years. Booked an appointment for Fathers Day and Caroline made it a great experience.

If I could give NO STARS I would..On August 3, 2021 while on Vacation in Costa Rica I received a call that no parent should receive, especially when they are far far away...Vincent was lost in San Diego.. now I did not hear this from the camp he was attending Claytime Ceramics & Art Studio NO, I did not receive a call from AMAZING SUPER AUNT Analia Corrales. I receive a call from Vincents school all the way back in Thousand oaks... they received a call from SDPD stating that Vincent was found by a good samaritan running up and down the street and asked him if he needed help--the time 911 was called was 0957- Vincent had been lost on his own for about 20 min by this point. The police officer arrived at 1003, Vincent wasnt able to give him phone numbers but by pure luck was wearing his Ladera STARS Academy PTA Fun Run Shirt, so thats how the school was contacted and they began to call me.From there i called the Police to make sure Vincent was safe and not hurt, and texted my Aunt (we answer each other instantly so I knew I could call police while texting her) and she took off to the camp to pick them up-- police was going to meet her there with Vincent. The time was not 1044Vincent was lost from his group while they did a walk to the park, he asked the owner if he could sit down while they others played games, he was allowed to sit- then he looked up and the group was gone.NOW while Vincent was lost, Calvin begged, pleaded and cried his heart out for the owner Caroline Anthony, to call his SuperAunt, to call the police, to find his brother. Her response was No, we will wait till pick up, is fine.My aunt arrived and asked WHY she was not called, why was the police not contacted the second they realized they left Vincent behind during a walk-- WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU NOT CARE? again, the response was the same- I was going to notify you when you picked up.The Place is not licensed to Host summer camps, they have no RIGHT to be watching over kids if they cannot keep them safe. They have no right to watch over kids if they are not aware of the protocols to take when a child is lost.By pure luck Vincent was not hurt, was not kidnapped, did not go into the ocean and Drown, he was lost for almost 2.5 hours and no ADULT or POLICE WAS CONTACTED by Claytime Ceramics & Art StudioReports to social services, child protection, SDPD, Department of education, Summer camp licensing, California licensing and everything else i could think of have a report on the incident.

Terrible experience with owner. We paid $100 to make two bowls, which were put in the kiln before we could paint them. Then COVID hit. When stores reopened, we went back and the bowls had been thrown away. The owner said she only keeps them for 30 days. She never called or texted to let us know. She also claims she was open during the entire pandemic. We asked if we could paint something else, she said OK, took our number and said she would call when the bowls were ready. She texted the next day and said unless we can give her a receipt showing we paid (we paid in cash and she gave no receipt) that we were out of luck. We love our OB local businesses and in the future will go to awesome art spots like Falling Sky, Artist Outpost and Hot Spot. Very disappointing experience with Claytime Ceramics.

I LOVE Claytime Ceramics! Caroline has a great variety of different things you can do and you dont even need to be an artist! She gives you direction without over doing it so your left with your creative self. I just did an organized party of 16 people... we had a BLAST! Everybody wants to come back and release their newfound inner artist!

Caroline (the proprietor of the business) is a total sweetheart! This is such a fun place to come and hang out. The owner has so many supplies available to utilize. Its one of the few places in San Diego County where there is a kiln and you can create a clay piece and get it fired in the same place. What she charges for a class, materials, and the firing, is extremely inexpensive. Plus, the way her shop is set up there are long tables and you can go with a group of friends and have a lot of fun making something together or joining in a painting class or some other kind of activity. Its only a block away from the main drag in Ocean Beach. Great way to spend some fun time before or after a day at the beach. Or if you go to the beach and it gets rained out or you get tired of the sun, its a nice place to get away and have some fun. The owner is very nice and an easy-going lady and she really helps you out a lot with your art projects.

Claytime ceramics is mellow enviorment. With lots of opportunities to create. The proprietor is very supportive and welcoming. Caroline urges you to be creative and helps you to be comfortable enough to open the the door to your creativity. The store is stocked full off supplies.when I first came I did not see myself as an artist. The easy going enviorment and Carolines gentleness let me open up to create.

Looked for parking for 20 mins, walked in the cold for 10 mins, knocked and waited outside the door for 10 mins. Sign said open and so did everything else. Door was locked nobody answered. Not a reliable place. I was looking forward to spending time with my mother.
