I would like to start by saying how good the doctors are here. But the person who takes care of ordering the glasses is the WORST is been over a month and yet she hasnt call to let me know if my sons glasses are ready to pick up!!! The first pair was the same thing, I had to call her she pretended as if she just got them in. I dont like recomend this place to buy ur glasses. To get ur eye exam yes.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. My initial exam went quite smoothly. The procedures were explained very clearly to me.There was a wide selection of frames covered by my insurance plan. I did have to pay out of pocket for my second set of frames, but the price was very reasonable- I was given a discount on the regular price. After my exam I was scheduled for a follow-up with the opthalmologist due to a little swelling in one of my eyes.If you want the best of care for your eyes, I highly recommend West Coast Clairemont !

West Coast Eye Care is my favorite. ❤️ I got so excited knowing I was able to be seen at this office after having some trouble with insurance. I definitely recommend this office to anyone who’s looking for great care. Dr. Aoto is very kind, patient, genuine, caring, and has such great energy to be around with, and is such a vibrant and lovely person. Plus her team is also very kind individuals and really go out of their way for their patients. Overall, a 11/10, such a lovely and recommended office.

My first contact with this location, on Convoy Street, was when Eduardo answered the phone. He was extremely helpful and knew that I needed to talk to Ana. She was also extremely helpful, and made me aware of what WAS covered and what was NOT covered by my insurance. I rarely get that info ahead of time! And Dr. Aoto was just delightful! She’s very knowledgeable, really took her time to understand my needs and did an excellent refraction! I really felt like ‘I’ mattered – it was a super refreshing experience!

My sister saw Dr. Aoto today for refraction. I did not introduce myself as an Ophthalmology Tech in Glaucoma Research and was an Optometrist in the Philippines. Dr. Aoto is so friendly, so very precise in refraction, very thorough in her exam, and she uses the slit lamp in checking the eye pressure (IOP) of my sister and not the Air Puff. Her technique in refraction was on point 👍. Shes a very good practicing Optometrist. I was amazed on her good skills and knowledge 👏. I highly recommend her to go to for eyeglasses prescription. I will recommend our patients to see her if needed. Everyone is nice and accommodating. Kudos to Dr Aoto and her staff...

Long review!My husband needed to buy a pair of prescription sunglasses and I found this place on my insurances list of providers so we decided to give it a try. My husband already got his eye exam at a different office, so all we needed to do there was just to buy a pair of prescription sunglasses. The front desk guy (Eduardo) was nice at first until he could not find my insurance in his system. I said it could be on a different system, not the one that he just looked me up since it was not the correct insurance company that he checked to begin with. Then he started to give us an attitude and kept saying that he has the same insurance company with his wife and if we have an active insurance with Guardian then what he did was correct and I need to call my HR to verify why my membership isnt showing on Guardian site. Then I tried to show him the back of my insurance card and said my insurance is not with Guardian, Im with a sub-company of Guardian. He said ok I will try this last thing for you since you insist and proceeded to call the correct insurance company and found my membership at last! He did apologize to me but was still full of himself. He then sent us home because my insurance will have to send him an official document for my husbands benefits. Later that same day he called to notify us that the insurance only covers 20% for most of the things my husband wants to have in his lenses. So my husband decided to call the insurance company and was told that the insurance will cover more than just 20%. So my husband called Eduardo again in the hope of sorting everything out so he can order a pair of prescription sunglasses, and Eduardo told him that this office is not in network with my insurance! uhhh... what??? This office was and still is on the list of providers from my insurance website! Eduardo probably lied so we dont call him again to make him sort it out again with our insurance. Terrible customer service.

Dr. Anh Tonnu was very patient, knowledgeable and professional. It was my sons first eye exam. I was appreciative for the detail. She kept him engaged in the conversation and she made sure he understood every part of the examination.Thank you for the excellent customer service by both the front desk & with the process of ordering his glasses. Polite, helpful staff. The optometrist, Ahn, went above and beyond with my eye exam and referral to an ophthalmologist. She did not push a new RX for glasses! I would return there and recommended to friends and family.

Although making an appointment was an easy endeavor as well as the appointment itself the front desk service was scattered and disorganized. After finishing my appointment I was to order a year supply of special order contacts per the optometrist prescription which would take a maximum of 30 days to come in. The receptionist was unable to answer questions about the quantity of contacts I would be receiving, which is baffling due to the fact that, having worn contacts for 8 years, I have always been given options as to my contact supply. Following this encounter I sat around waiting for a phone call, but ended up having to call about my order because I have about exhausted the trial pair given to me at my appointment, only to find out the order had never been placed. The individual that I spoke with, after realizing this, disregarded my plight only to talk about their policy of ordering contacts and never admitting fault. I have never come across such incompetency when it comes to something I believe to be so simple. Also after I went ahead to order the contacts over the phone and paid, he told me that he cannot email an invoice to me so I can have record that it has been ordered this time which puts me back in the same situation as previously not having a record of the order. My advice is to inquire and ensure they have dealt with you properly before leaving otherwise you may end up on two completely different wavelengths and unsatisfied.

Ive been taking my daughters here for over 7years for their annual checkup and glasses, they take Medi-Cal and have a small but decent selection, staff is always friendly, and considerate.

The wait for an available appointment at my closest eye doctors office was over a month. I was so glad to get an appointment @ West Coast in less than 48 hours. Although further away, it was completely worth driving 20 minutes away. All of the office staff were really friendly, competent, and efficient at their jobs.Although the office stayed busy, there were still no long waiting times. They were really good at keeping the flow of traffic moving.Dr. Aoto was very thorough. It was nice to not feel rushed as she took the time to answer all of my questions. I left with a prescription, new glasses ordered, and no stress.

Doctor Kim is great. I’ve been to this office over 10 years. Lots of change personnel staff. Mostly rude and very unfriendly. Today I got a call to pick up my contacts. The receptionist gave me the wrong brand and wrong eye prescription. Melanie (person ordered my contacts and payment) raised her voice to me that she took full responsibility and don’t talk to the receptionist. How? If I didn’t check my order, I’d have really bad headache and she didn’t pay for my lenses. Incompetence and rude staff are not the right attitude for a customer service base industry. Hired better staff to go with a good doctor. People eyes are not something to be careless about. What a terrible person!

The lady that did the glasses lied to us , she said my son was covered I asked her 3 times and her reply was he is covered. Yet he received a bill for 110.20 dollars. I would not recommend them they lie to get the business.

I have nothing but good words about my experience concerning my visit for aneye examination The staff was attentive, polite and friendly. The specialist was professional, made a quick diagnosis of my problem and gave me comprehensive advice on treatment. I was impressed and will return for surgery with confidence and peace of mind.

I went to Kim Aoto for a second opinion and she helped answer all of my questions. I noticed she is the only eye doctor there so I had to wait a little after my appointment time, but, she is quick and efficient. I really liked her!

I’ve been meaning to do this review just because I really do recognition should be given to the people that deserve it I was seen by Dr. Kim she was super nice and sweet answered all my questions and took her time the young lady in the front Josie was a doll very helpful answered my questions explained my insurance you can tell she’s been doing this for a while now I was not able to get glasses at the time but there was also a young lady at the other desk helping with glasses and she broke down everything for me in a matter that I understood I called the office about a week and a half ago looking forward to speak to Josie and the great staff about buying glasses but was left on hold for 15-20 minutes by I believe she said her name was shay very disappointing I’ll definitely be in to order glasses but will just walk in instead

Ive been seeing Dr. Kim Aoto over the past 3 years and she is amazing! Extremely personable and genuine. She listens to your needs and makes sure you leave the office with all your questions answered. I wish she was my personal doctor for everything! My annual exams have always been an exceptional experience, I know I can trust her 110% and she provides care instructions to ensure good eye health. I hope she never leaves the company, I will find her! Before her, I had Dr. Quang, he was pretty awesome too, and I mean, he is awesome and pretty handsome. This company seems to have quality/exceptional doctors that everyone will love!!! Im so grateful -- I totally recommend to everyone, and youll love her too!!!!

Ive been to this office twice and Dr. Kim Aoto is fantastic. Shes extremely patient and explains everything thoroughly.

If I have the opportunity to pick other office compared with this one I will do it. They said that it will take 2 weeks to get you the lenses ready and I cam back and they said,, will take longer. I just can not believe that takes over 2 weeks to get you the lenses.Also it looks like the¥ did not care at all. Will pickup my lenses when are ready and will never go back here!

I had a great experience at West Coast Eye Care! The appointment was for my 2 year old (her first time at an eye doctor), and the doctor was fantastic with her and the staff gave her all sorts of special attention. Highly recommend!!

Love this place. I’ve been coming here for years and have seen a few different doctors and staff. Bree at the front is very accommodating. She remembers me and makes me feel valued. I had a horrible migraine and had to reschedule and she was really empathetic. Very, very kind and professional. Dr. Aoko is sooooo thorough. She walks you through what she is doing. She is reassuring. And patient. And explains everything. And you just feel like she really cares about you. I really, really love interacting with her. Great team! Convenient location! Highly recommend!!!

This is scarey. I made an appointment for wed with the opthmologist. drove 45 minutes, show up and the girl says the call center should of called you, they only have appointments on thursday how messed up is that? I wouldnt want to be seen by that dr if they run their practice like that

I hate to rate this place so badly cause I think the doctor there is pretty awesome. Shes very personable and seems to know her stuff but the front office of this clinic is atrocious. I have been trying to order contacts from them for the last 2 days and have been on the phone with them for over 30 minutes. Ive been hung up on 3 times while waiting on hold. Its been absolutely insane. Unfortunately I will be finding a new clinic because it shouldnt be this hard to place an order.Again the doctor is great but the rest of the staff is awful.

Doctors are good. Front desk staff not so much. So disinterested in me as a customer. Acts as if we (patients) are an inconvenience. Going somewhere else for next vision check. Bye!

Great optometrist and ultimately I always feel comfortable walking in there and knowing they have such expertise.

Ive been waiting over 3 months for my glasses and all Ive gotten is the runaround and excuses.ive had migraines so bad Ive been hospitalized because my eyes are straining so much and now my prescription has changed and Ive got to start over.Never deal with these people again.

Dr was on time and very thorough but after waiting to speak to the man about getting a pair of glasses took a long time and they didnt have many selections for a decent price or covered by my insurance

10...Dr Kim was very helpful...and tho I freaked out about her findings...her demeanor was calming and her staff worked with me to help me along on my next steps.

The eye doctors do a fine job, but dont order your contacts or glasses from here. Poor customer service from the woman who took over the ordering of glasses and contacts. She is inflexible and hours on website are unreliable.

We came here at August and now November but my kid still doesn’t have glass. I came and asked for many time but The lady who take order said my daughter’s glass may be was shipping wrong store . HuhMy daughter is 6 years old and she really need glass for go to school but they let she is waiting for very long time. I don’t recommend everyone come here for order glass,And next time I will never come back. They lost my family as 4 customers

They never answer the phone, nor do they return the call to make an appointment ... try for several days to make an appointment and nothing, if that is the way it will be the service then better not to go to that place ... P.S. and when I finally managed to make an appointment ... they sent her to make some very big glasses to my girl, that she couldnt even use them was a great robbery !! and no one ever answered again ..
