I dont give 5 🌟 ratings lightly - the friendly staff and the extremely rich, tasty gelatos we tried (and we weve tried gelato from some nice places over the years), we are recommending this place and will make attempts to coming back wherever we are in San Diego.One recommendation - provide small discounts to local college students (and family?). This will both encourage new customers and help build a newer generation of return customers for this who will stay in the area yon graduating.

Great coffee shop, and tasty gelato as well. Ive been here several times for an iced latte and a chocolate croissant, and I always leave feeling satisfied. The prices and service couldnt be better! I recently topped my coffee off with a pint of cookies and cream to go, and my fiance and I enjoyed its creamy goodness that night. Highly recommended!

I’ve been to the best gelaterias throughout Italy and none beat my home town gelato Vera. For decades they have consistently produced the best gelato in the world. The only problem are the limited hours, hopefully they stay open later soon.

Friendly place with a cool upstairs deck. Came at nearly midnight and sat upstairs, enjoying the pretty view downtown. Red raspberry sorbetto is very authentic and as good as those I had eaten in Italy.

Good desserts... Yet the inside of the place needs a little uplifting. Had the Gelato and baklava which were both great.

Great place to start the day. Super friendly staff will greet your arrival and pour you a cup of their flavorful coffee. Try one of their tasty muffins too. The banana nut muffin had a generous topping of walnuts.

Went there before closing and the ladies working there had already locked the door shut. I knocked and they looked at me and informed me. Finally one of them made a shooing gesture tell me to leave. Rude staff who clearly doesnt want to scoop ice cream during their open hours. Also, when its open, seems dingy and dirty inside.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid with my family. The adult me thinks it holds up. Which means the kid in me is never disappointed. Still the best gelato I’ve ever had - so good! Nice people. So glad this place is appreciated for how excellent it really is. Recommend!

We stayed in an Airbnb not to far from here and finished off everyday with Gelato. We tried a few flavors and they all did not disappoint! Theyre coffee was also very good! If youre in the area, I highly recommend giving them a try.

Totally awesome dessert and coffee place, with great view from rooftop terrace. Ice cream is super tasty, not sweet, and creamy. The serving cups look small but are generously filled, I could hardly finish a medium. This place was already hot in the mid eighties spawned the little restaurant row it is now part of.

Tiny corner shop located on India St. In downtown San Diego that is definitely a must try. True Gelato! I suggest that pistachio.

Some of my family used to hang out at this place back in the late 80s. Its a nice, small shop and the upstairs seating area was cool especially when its not too busy. Gelato was great especially their espresso/gelato drink. If you have the chance, you should go here!

This is my go to coffee house and not because I live in the area. They also offer iced drinks, pastries, and lunch upstairs. Its a cozy neighborhood coffee house. I like their coffee and the employees are friendly. Its a cool little hang out if you have time. Thank you Gelato Vero for my morning coffee and the friendly attitude.

Best gelato in San Diego. Simple small shop

For San Diego this is the only place that does NOT close early. At times you want an ice cream at 10pm Gelato Vero will be open and waiting for you. They close at 12am, weekends they close at 1am. The only thing i wish they would change is the smell of the place. A little cleanup would be perfect

The Gelato Vero Caffe is an excellent establishment. The spumoni gelato was soft, sweet and flavorful! The service is excellent and the interior is quaint and cozy.

The shop is a San Diego long timer and the biggest drawback is the lack of parking nearby. But there are several restaurants here all very good so try to get the parking and then have a great meal but save room for dessert. They have great gelato, cakes and baked goodies.

The cookies and cream were amazing! The hot chocolate hit the spot on one of those cold San Diego nights. All together my group tried 4 flavors of gelato and 2 types of hot chocolate and all of them were hits. If youre in the area you should definitely check it out.

Somehow on date night we always finish the evening here... because its great! They make excellent coffee (like, whatever kind you want) and it pairs well with their many flavors of gelato. Super chill kind of place with cool original art for sale on the walls. Definitely a fan.

Chill little neighborhood cafe. Try a Hammerhead and get more than a Kickstart to your day. Or try their delicious Gelato! I usually get a scoop of Spumoni and a scoop of their cookies and cream! Theyre open pretty damn early to pretty damn late too. Perfect place to get some work done and chill; away from the house or office.

Great place with really friendly service and very reasonable prices. The gelato was just the right consistency, but I thought it couldve been a little more intense in terms of flavor. Overall a worthwhile stop, I just had to try a lot of flavors before finding what I wanted.

The gelato (specifically the dark chocolate) was really fantastic. Service a was fine, and the place is clean and well kept.However, there is one serious thing they do that really puts me off. When my mother and I went there, we noticed they have free coloring pages. When we asked for one, we found out that they did not offer crayons, colored pencils, or any coloring tools whatsoever. After tasting every flavor 3 times and ordering one of my own, we were left with nothing to do. They wont see repeat service from us until they update their coloring arsenal.

Its great, when the weather outside is awesome, its rather cramped inside.Theres a 2nd floor but not ADA friendly.I like to sit outside and watch the traffic on Washington and India streets.Great hangout for all types, moped/scooter club, students and families.Parking is tough Thursday evenings thru Sundays.Valet is available at the other end of the block in front of Shakespeares Pub.Sylvia, one of the baristas, reminds me of Tina, of Bobs Burger.

Ideal location on way north from airport, so makes a good stop after a travel location. INCREDIBLE gelato, supplies nice restaurants in the area. Rich, thick, absolutely incredible. Also has pastries available. Would recommend trying the espresso gelato especially.

Had my very first cafe mocha here in the ‘80s, which is totally different than what you’ll recv today. Now-a-days, I’ll have an espresso and some vanilla bean. The service was different back then, but the gelato remains pretty good - not sure if the recipe has changed.

The ice cream was really good but their customer service sucked. The lady who helped me totally made me feel so uncomfortable with how strong her annoyed face and attitude... I took my partner there for a random date and that was seriously the only place he didnt like about that day. Ill be going somewhere cause all I want is ice cream... Not attitude topped with it.

We legit came here every night during our vacation to San Diego for gelato and tried all of the flavours! We also came in the morning for coffee and pastries for breakfast several times too. We loved it so much we bought a t-shirt to bring home and regret not getting a travel mug.

The only place in SD county Ive found for really good gelato. The others are too sweet and lack texture. GVC flavors are intense because they favor chocolate, vanilla, etc. over sugar.

I had a fantastic scone, warmed with butter, and a hot satisfying cup of coffee. i like their ceramic mugs, hefty and they hold the heat. Staff was aces, top notch.

Quaint, cute, and wifi with the best gelato around makes for an awesome experience. Full espresso bar too. One star off due to parking. There is an upstairs area with great views perfect for studying or just hanging out. Open early, closes late. Go for your morning caffeine and/or wrap up the day with some dessert
