This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell they like their job along with making the customers happy is their main priority. Food is delicious and the flavor is unique, some mix of American and italian classics and some twists on dessert. The fun time and memories you can make here are unforgettable, and for their prices it’s 100% worth it. Enjoy your self if you decide to visit! I did and so did my little ones.
We had a great time . The breakfast was phenomenal. The service from our waiter, Joe, was top notch. You have to try the mimosas, they are one of the best Ive ever tasted. The food tasted so good. We were greeted by the manager who was very pleasant . I would give ten stars if I could. After eating, we went into the candy store to shop. Love this place. If go, ask for Joe, he truly is the best.

We celebrated my daughter’s graduation here last week & everyone was so elated!!! The food is absolutely amazing & the drinks are crazy insane. My sister in law treated the family here to celebrate the kids bday! We had a blast. I had the burger that that the shrimp n plantains n it was delicious. My Husband had the wafle breakfast burger and he loved. My mother in law n sister in law had the veggie burgers, they both liked it. Service was good. The waiters would removed most dirty plates fast. They have wall with roses to take pictures. Even though there where adults, most of the people there were teenagers and young adults. The music is really fast n energetic n loud. If you want to eat n have a good conversation this is not the place, becuae how I mention before the music is loud. My kids had two ice drinks n they really like then. They both got complimentary ice cream for their bdays n the waiters sang to them. They have an amazing big chandelier in the middle of the roof. Of you are a teenager, young adult, have a sweet tooth, thus is the place to be.
Waaaayyyy too loud! All the tables are big, so why blast music so you cant hear the waiter, or anyone at the table??Service is slow. And bad. The waiter cant even hear your order between wearing a mask, and the loud music. It was not a good time!! Food mediocre. Drinks and food came out wrong, and nowhere near the same time!
Its funny, every time I’ve visited it has been for an adult birthday party/dinner and never to see a movie. I’d maybe been twice before realizing it was a movie theater. I think people go for drinks & the spectacle of celebration. It is, in part, the pageantry of that happens when you get bottle service at a night club and the kitcsh of any waitstaff singing strangers a birthday song. It’s an uncanny combination of a full bar, flower facade, lounge area, and candy wall cast in a bright cacophony of false luxury that works somehow… A child’s version of nightlife for all ages, I think.In any case, the food is serviceable. The drinks, I understand, are enormous, enjoyable, and always a conversation piece. The music is often a little too loud for my tastes but they do play the hits, and you can never go wrong with candy. If invited, attend and leave with more sugar than anybody should consume but that’s all one should expect.
Service was extremely forced. Waiter didnt understand timing and continued to pressure us to order when we had been seated for only a few moments. Continued to come back every two minutes or so and when food came out was very rushed and wasnt good at all. Gave it a second chance and ordered the chocolate fondue for dessert and was lack luster. Restaurant itself was very run down. Cushions were worn out and missing lots of details. Definitely wouldnt recommend to anyone
You can order a half King Kong and still get the full lights off presentation. You can make a reservation for the rooftop as well.You come here for a good time and to be blown away by the presentations. The Sugar Factory definitely has a 5 star atmosphere with 5 star food presentation! With Loud music, people celebrating everywhere, and loads of sugar, how could you not have a good time!One bad part is the wait. Our server forgot to put in the order for our King Kong and so we sat there for a half hour after our food was done, for them to make our dessert. That was pretty ridiculous. That was the only negative thing

I guess we missed the reviews but first thing to know is this place is LOUD. not a deal breaker but know before you go. The food is divine and the drinks are fun. The amount of sugar in them makes them overkill and not taste good, but you do it for the experience.The shakes was way tastier and just as fun as the big drinks. They almost expect you to celebrate a birthday or something and will sing their guts out. I mean hey free ice cream.For 2 adults and 4 kids being very frugal it still cost 130, so be cautious of price.
This place blew my expectations. It was so fun and exciting inside. It looked awesome, the food was decent but there was cool drinks that smoked up & the birthday celebration dessert plate and show (you have to buy it) is awesome!! You get to pick your own song and everything. Our bday dessert plate took foreverrrrr to get to us, we watched like 4 other people get theirs and we kept thinking it was ours but we were last but the waitress said it was her first day and in the end it was fun and I would definitely go back anyways.
Oh my gosh. Had so much fun here today! Took my partner for Fathers Day. We both enjoyed the goblet drinks. The staff was so attentive! All of the food was phenomenal, we had the rainbow pancakes, the vegetable Benadict, club sandwich, waffle sandwich, two goblet coctails (mimosa and gummy) a shake and two hot cocoa.
We went there for my birthday & They were jammed packed and understaffed our arrival time was 645, our waiter quit mid service. We didnt place our food order until 815 they kept telling us someone will be with us but nobody came. We had a party of 6 & the men kept having to go to the bar to requesr things, finally the bartender( bless her) she took our order and got the job done. Over all they comped all of the drinks and appetizers for the inconvenience the 4 stars is for the bartender that saved the day.
I dont know where to begin with this place. First off, if you are like me and dont really care about celebrities then this isnt the place for you. The whole theme is that its an overhyped paradise where celebrities come to throw insane parties and they have TVs constantly playing of when famous people stopped by. In reality, it looks like a celebrity hasnt set foot in that place since it opened because it was a ghost town.It was also pretty dirty and gross. Our place settings were covered in dust. And the food was just kind of meh, which is extra disappointing because it is ridiculously expensive. My wife got a Groupon to go and check it out, but it didnt actually save us any money extra for just a couple of bucks.After eating here, the next poor choice I made was to stay and watch a movie since its inside a theatre. That experience was equally awful but Ill separate that review onto the Theatre Boxs page. See that review if you want further tales of horror.
This was my first time to San Diego and we came for my sisters birthday. Our server Ken was AMAZING!!! The food and drinks was phenomenal. Definitely will be coming back and trying one closer to me. Good job sugar factory

Sean was such a pleasure to have as a server.This was such a disappointing experience from the moment we walked into the Theater to check-in for our reservations. The host was nowhere to be found and the security guard had to guide us to the restaurant to flag someone down to assist us. The food was overpriced and not good. The calamari, spinach dip and entrees were not worth taking a second bit on an empty stomach.Based off the price and quality of the food this restaurant deserves no stars. If this was based off of the customer service provided by our server I would rate this 5 stars. However the Pros didnt out weigh the Cons and I will never dine here or recommend this restaurant.
Im from LA County and I mist say this restraunt slash bar is the best in SD!!! And the staff were very friendly and great. Especially Antonio! Greatest and bestes waitress person ever. This place is a must to come back again when Im in SD
So I looked through tons of reviews to see if these $40 drinks were worth the price, meaning Im I getting enough alcohol for what Im paying. I didnt find anything. The experience is what you pay for, alcohol.. what alcohol we didnt taste one bit. We even asked our waiter and he said theres about 2 & 1/2 shots in 1 drink.. lies. Beware, if youre not drinking fast enough..your drink will freeze and you wont be able to drink the rest of it. This review is just based on this drink. Everything else was pretty cool. Go with a milk shake and save your money on the alcohol.

If you want to get treated like a queen then definitely don’t have the server named Queen serve you!!! You’ll be lucky if you ever get a drink delivered to your table!!! Plus I get it times are hard, and the servers are working their tails off…. However if you’re working at a place like this give your customers a tad better service! I didn’t come here for the food.
Well i was blessed to be taken here by my kids for myBIRTHDAY♡ (My 1st time)But there was a few things that the restaurant messed up. Daughter-in-law made reservations and still wanted us to wait an hour & 45 min more, the foos was not correct and one thing i was really disappointed,for being a pricey place & famous people had been there, the restroom were so durty, o toilet paper. Wow🤔
Not the best customer service. Came in pretty earlier to see if any tables were available before they opened and were told it was to hard to serve more then 2 people currently because of parties that we expected an hour later. Heard so many great things about this company in other locations but wasn’t the case this time.
Visited sugar factory during my visit to San Diego from New York and had a blast! Good food, good movie, and desert was amazing! I met the manager David who was very nice and helpful to my friend assisting her with her needs! Five Stars for Excellent Hospitality! I recommend anyone visiting the San Diego area to visit the sugar factory! P.S good place to celebrate birthdays with loved ones. 😍
It was extremely busy, yet everyone was so friendly. The hostesses, our server, the runners all went out of their way to make our experience great. The presentation of the drinks and desserts were incredible! Our appetizers came out super fast... unfortunately, everything was cold. Our appetizers tasted like something frozen and warmed up quickly. We had planned on ordering dinner, but after the appetizers we decided against it. So we ordered a couple of their specialty shakes and a cocktail. Again, the presentation was amazing, but both shakes were melted and both tasted exactly the same. The cocktail was delicious. It reminded us of a Farrells Ice Cream Parlor for today, but MUCH louder, and not as tasty. We are glad we tried it, but wont be returning.
I called this afternoon to schedule a last minute Birthday party for my daughter. I spoke with Jillian, she was pleasant and professional. She answered all my questions efficiently and politely. It is a great reflection on the management and the establishment. I have been to this location before. The breakfast menu is amazing, the wait staff was great. The ambiance was wonderful, very cheerful and clean. A very nice family friendly location for adults to enjoy as well.

I never write reviews but I just couldn’t let this go. The San Diego location did a horrible job for my daughters 10th birthday after we came all the way from Texas. I had to argue with them for over an hour just to get her a milkshake, apparently they didn’t have any cups available yet I saw other tables getting milkshakes. I even asked if I could just order the huge sundae and my server said it would really take too long that I probably shouldn’t order that. She asked me three times if I just wanted to cancel the order. I said absolutely not since we are here for her birthday. After that I asked for the manager and they finally came with the milkshake in less than 10 minutes sadly it was one girl singing who was less than enthused to be there. Major disappointment because I loved the Vegas location.Not to mention that the restaurant was not very clean. The restrooms were disgusting. Our drink orders came out after our food had been on the table for about 15 minutes. I’m not sure what management is doing here but this location was just horrible compared to the Vegas and Miami one. For a $500 meal I expected way better.
Exciting, fun, good food and drinks. Overpriced menu but worth the experience.
The food was ok. I ordered the cheesy burger which came with Mac and cheese and it was pretty good. The service wasn’t that great. Our waiter wasn’t attentive and kept forgetting things. Our food came without any utensils, or napkins. We had to kept asking for the ranch and for water refills. Worse part was, the outdoor seating was on the street, and there was a homeless person who had came up to our table to ask us for things and the staff did nothing. That coupled with the service is a reason I won’t be going back.
The food was good, and was brought out to us pretty fast, we ordered a milkshake but was missing a candy (marshmallow) decoration that my daughter was expecting. The customer service was ok, but definitely not the service we happily received at the Vegas location. Friendlier happy employees wouldve been enough to give it a 5star.
Okay. So here goes my experience. This was my first time at the sugar factory (movie theater). When we went there was no guidance, no one checked our ticket. We could’ve not paid for the movie and no one would’ve noticed. Once we got inside the theater it was trashed, no one had cleaned it, it definitely was not up to covid standards. We pressed the service button like 3x & no one came up till the previews started. Then our food came out 15 minutes into the movie and at that point someone started cleaning the theater. Our drink came in halfway through the movie. We thought they had forget about us. After an hour of waiting for a drink we just assumed we weren’t getting it. Anyway. I’ll post a pic of the two items that we got and the price came up to 70 dollars. Spend your money elsewhere.

We live the experience of celebrating my friends daughter b-day. The food was great the atmosphere was awesome we also ordered the 1/2 Kong delicious. Great place to celebrate any occasion. My only complaint its so extremely hot inside the restaurant. Other than that we had a great time.
We couldnt find my reservation. (my fault). Were were seated and rarely spoken to again. I think it was because I presented my groupon. I had to track service down since I didnt have a particular server. No one knew who he or she was. Just spent unnecessary time looking for them. Had to request for the check. Never got it. Just showed my groupon. 2nd time disappointed
They were out of some menu items and it was early in the day. Furniture isnt the cleanest and looks due for some replacement or detail cleaning. Food was okay, mine mightve tasted better if it was hot. Not exactly the best birthday brunch I was hoping for.
I went with my girlfriend and her 8 year old son and one of his buddies. We all had sandwiches and burgers. The decadent milkshakes were works of art. Wish we could have sat inside to enjoy the decor.
Very surprised, being it was my 1st time, the price for everything was good. The watermelon pitbull drink was pretty good, (even tho I am not a fan of sweet drinks) great presentation making the drink too. The vibe for the restaurant was great, our server Lucas was awesome. Booked a trip to San Diego just to get a milkshake and breakfast for my kids! Last time we walked up and were sat quickly. TODAY.. we were refused a seat because we needed more than a 4 person table! Hostess was pretty clear she wouldnt even try to help us. They were too busy to seat because of some reservations and there was no discussion about it. Kids were upset but we walked down and found a restaurant willing to seat us with minimal wait. Your loss Sugar Factory!
We have been to the Sugar Factory a few times. In Orlando, FL while on vacation, and here in San Diego a couple of times. All of our visits seemed great. The servers were all upbeat and energetic.This is a great vibe and experience for birthday parties or celebrations.This last visit to the downtown San Diego location started off no different. Our server was great, was quick in response to any of our requests. The food came out literally within 7 minutes, for some that might be a great thing, for me, it was a little questionable. I had ordered the chicken fettuccini, and when the runner brought my food out, it wasn’t hot as if it was freshly made, but it certainly wasn’t ice cold. The pasta was almost laying in soup, the sauce was so watery.Everything else was ok. Nothing really above and beyond.What actually compelled me to write this review was the fact that just yesterday I noticed my bank account showed a double charge for our visit there.I called the bank to make sure I was reading it correctly, sure enough, two amounts for $153 were actually processed and cleared. Right away I disputed the second charge. I immediately got on the phone with Sugar Factory, problem is you can never really get through to someone. This led to a drive down to actually discuss this with a manager in person. As we waited, we explained to the young lady at the front what had happened, who then shared that we were not the only ones who this recently happened too. There have been several others complaining about duplicate charges. When the manager finally appeared to talk, we explained to the manager what had happened, received no apology, the manager was quick on the defense to show what their charges were. With looking at what the manager provided, it actually appears to be two separate charges, this was quickly backed with the idea that this is just how their system shows it. We were assured that only one charge was made and that it’s the fault on our bank, even though we showed the dual charge. We received no apology for the inconvenience on the long drive or anything. When we asked the manager about what the hostess shared, about others having the same problem, she quickly shot that down saying she has no idea what the hostess was referring too. Something seems off with this place.My suggestion, if you go bring cash, otherwise, it’s not worth the risk of your card information being exposed or being charged more than it should be.
Staff here is great, fast, and efficient! I love the food and the cool drinks that they serve. Great place for a birthday party or a gathering. I really recommend!!
I dont drink but my friend ordered the Candy Shop drink. He defined it as a good buzz. Worth every $45.00 bucks.
Highly disappointed, I really shouldn’t of paid for this meal, but I did … I highly do not recommend. All of the burgers inside looked exactly like this ….. the cow is basically still mooing.

Made a reservation for 4pm, we checked in with the hostess who said she would have our table ready in 10 minutes…but on a reservation? Shouldn’t it already be ready?? Anyways 30 minutes later we had to flag down another hostess because we still weren’t seated. It took 40 minutes on a reservation to get seated, and there were tons of open tables.Stars are for the server, who was awesome
This place was HORRID IT WAS NASTY 🤮 look at the photos attached below if you don’t believe me .From the tables seats and dishes they are all sticky and dirty that you can visibly see and feel .There was also a fly zooming around this establishment if you could even call it that .

Hostess was impressionable and the ambiance was fun and fancy. Sugar Factory provided everything my son asked for on his birthday.This establishment is for the young and young at heart.I was was impressed with the timely, friendly service and even more impressed with the quality of their burgers.

My wife enjoyed the drinks, the kids liked the candy and I thought the movie theater experience was a cool factor. However, the management was very rude and quick to pawn our questions off to staff that was already busy.

Found this one during a run. I ordered the big cheesy. It was a good burger and the Mac and cheese did a good stand in for regular cheese. This place is like the cheesecake factory but with sugary items. The menu is not huge for regular food but they do have some very crazy sweet treats.
Everything was amazing and George, Nancy and Briget were the best. Had a blast sitting outside and we were attended to our every need. You must try if you are in the area
Loved spending my sons 10th birthday here. Having to spend his 9th birthday indoors made this an electrifying first outing in a year. The food lived up to my gold standard and the ambience was excellent. Thank you for the great service Juan!! Looking forward to coming here again. My only downer is I ordered the mac and cheese with lobster and it was blah!! The sliders and burgers were way tastier!!

If your looking for a place in Downtown San Diego to eat with friends or family, this restaurant is perfect! The food is amazing, the service is impeccable, and the environment is so enchanting. Sugar factory went above and beyond to service my family and I, and exceeded our expectations by giving us an amazing dining experience. The self serve candy area was the perfect way to end our visit with the variety of sweets they offer. We will definitely be back!

The restaurant was well decorated and trendy but felt welcoming and comfortable. The service was friendly.The playfulness and presentation of the food elevated what would otherwise be considered as standard fare. The buffalo wings and onion rings however, were amazing! Both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks were delicious. Their strawberry shake was one of the best I’ve ever had and their cocktails are a must try!
Had a lot of fun there for my birthday! The drinks were for like 2-4 people and everything was delicious. Would totally recommend there to my friends! I would recommend before hand to look at the menu before hand to at least check the prices. Most of the food isnt expensive, its the drinks that are. And while you might not taste the alchohol at first. It will hit you later on.

Nice size portions of food. Variety of shakes. All the staff were great. I ordered the cookie monster shake. DELICIOUS. Everything was edible. My daughter ordered the princess shake. We were happy to sit indoors granted the pandemic. Plan to go the Los Angeles location when things open back up.
100% a experience anyone should have. Amazing creations. 100% recommend having this experience with friends or family. It is the ultimate kids dream here. Can be expensive near 40$ per person and way up if u want a good time.

Service is awful and the layout of tables is tight! Our waitress was no where to be found ever, busers kept bumping into us trying to squeeze in between tables with their tubs of dirty dishes when they clearly don’t fit. Kept having to move my kids high chair around to accommodate for their inconsideration. When we finally paid and was walking out we found our waitress hiding behind the cash register in the front candy room texting. Gave 2 stars for the food being delicious.
Holy moly this place is intense. Mardi Gras and Vegas rolled into one. Bring insulin and your phone for the socials. Loud but super fun for the kids.

Its a change of pace from the typical family restaurant if you want to celebrate a birthday. Kids seem to really enjoy it. Not the place to take a date. Extremely loud music. Makes talking impossible. Drinks are very expensive, but fun to watch them create as they have dry ice and different colors and flavors; you can make with or without alcohol. Food was good. Depending on what you order could get pricey. For $100 you can get a boat of ice cream. Good for a small group. The waiters make it special by carrying it out with sparklers, turning down the lights, and turning up the music. Kids love it. Cannot bring in your own cake. There is a room where you can buy candy. Upstairs is a movie theater. You will need to find parking meter on the street or find a parking lot.
Dirty, disgusting, unsanitary are the three words I would use to describe this location. Glas of water after another there was left over residue from previous times. What kind of establishment cant wash some cups properly? Ive been to fast food restaurants, and those are cleaner and more organized than this location.
Extraordinary candy shop. You’ll find here everything you want and you don’t want. It’s a big shop, giving you the space you like. They serve ice-cream, cake, candy and more. There is also a restaurant and it has a big seating area.The shop is expensive and not even average candy prices. But it’s with the experience and getting to know more of the Sugar Factory.

There were so many issues with our order, I swear I dont know where to start. I will say I ordered a $40 punch bowl that was supposed to have alcohol in it, and it surely did not. Told the waitress and she swore there was. I know my tastebuds. Glad I brought it to the bartenders attention though, because he in fact said he remembers making it virgin. I almost paid $40 for a fancy soda. Thankfully, he corrected the mistake. Bartender was super dope. Btw, that bowl is loud as hell! I wouldnt suggest ordering it during the movie. That dry ice crackled the entire time.
The service at the entrance was so bad, specially the manager who decided who goes in first that for me is un respectful with the clients that made reservations and had to wait for more than an hour just because managers friends are coming or she decides who she want inside first, the service other wise in side was very good but they have to have some more respect of all the clients that are going in there.

To expensive and the food wasnt that great and it was my cousin birthday day we asked if they can sing for her like they had for other people and at first our waitress said no and we asked again and they did but not like the other celebration. Like two other people had their birthday there and the dj sang and they did a light show but not for us. Also the drinks look really cool but it berly had any alcohol I was expecting to get drunk of one since it cost 40 dollars. The good thing it looked like a really cool place

Finally, after 7-10 minutes, they came over and admitted they forgot about us.Our food was not good enough for the price. Neither of us could finish our main course. It was either bland or just not right.We only ordered dessert because we had a Groupon and needed to spend the remainder of our money. We got the classic ice cream sandwich, and you couldn’t even eat it like a sandwich. The cookie was so hard we couldn’t put a knife through it!The atmosphere is beautiful, but NOT WORTH IT! Visited this place because of the different eccletic drinks that are available. We had the Onion Rings as an appetizer. I had the crusted Lobster Mac & Cheese is amazing and The wife had the Chicken Alfredo. The drinks were absolutely on point! Definitely make reservations when coming. Just based on the hype surrounding the Sugar Factory, it gets super packed, super fast!
Was here a few weeks ago, just now getting the time to write a review.I came here for a cousin of mine’s 25th birthday party and we had a blast. Food was delicious and drinks were awesome. We loved the sliders and the margaritas they had. we also were treated very kindly and even got a complementary slice of cake for the birthday girl. Will for sure return for a lunch with my husband since he was not with us at the birthday party. It is a nice spot and a good location in downtown San Diego. Great atmosphere as well
