I recently had my boat hauled out and the bottom painted. The communication, scheduling and workmanship were all excellent. Its refreshing to actually get a live voice when you call a business. Max, Dara, Jenn and staff are all very responsive, professional and a pleasure to deal with. The marina is well kept and feels safe and secure. It can get busy on the weekends with the Duffy boat rental crowd, but Ive always been able to find parking no problem. Great marina and place to have your boat serviced!

We had to pull a boat out today that my friend was buying. The service was awesome. They even replaced one of the propeller cotter pins that was sheared off which was discovered during the inspection.

I had my sailboat stored here for over 2 years, and never missed a payment. Over the course of those two years, Dara - who works in the Marina office - caused us such headaches and was so difficult to work with that we eventually had to leave. She was unprofessional and gave us a really vague reason as to why we couldn’t keep our boat there anymore. Their facilities are horrible and the Duffy boat business located in the center of the marina is a joke - their clients would frequently run into the boats in the marina, and even sunk two of my neighbors’ outboards. While you may be paying slightly less for a slip here than other places, do not go through the stress and inconvenience of having to deal with Dara and the Duffy boats. You deserve better.

There are not many places in San Diego you can get your boat hauled out of the water. If you have to do so then I suggest you take it to Driscoll Mission Bay. The boat yard is perfect for anyone needing to get serious work done on their boat. The staff is super helpful and understanding. Next time I have to get my boat pulled out of the water I will definitely go to Driscoll Mission bay. Thank you everyone at Driscoll Mission Bay!

Sad with all that is going on. 300 bucks for hallout and ya gotta buy the paint from them with a 400% markup per gallon of paint my 33 foot takes 4 gallons at 250 something per gallon. Not on my watch rip off the locals there only your bread and butter.

This is the most rundown poorly managed facility in San Diego. Many of us are unhappy and moving this has gone on for a long time and hasnt changed . They will switch it up on you so fast. Management here is rude and unprofessional. This place is a dump. The bathrooms are broken and dirty. If you like getting screwed bring your boat here.

As a marine electrician I wont work here because of how they cheat the boat owners. I saw them call an owner and tell him it would be an extra $800 to grind the hull. A worker then spent less then 10 minutes with an angle grinder.

I like seeing all of the extreme boats out of water. I pick up and deliver engines/heads so i get to see stuff up close and sometimes i get in the way. Everyone is really nice ,friendly and helpful. Especially Rick Reynolds.

Beware of the price creep and long wait. This place was recommended to me by a colleague who owns a sailboat. I brought my cruiser in to get some basic work done. It turned out to cost me over $10,000 for about $5,000 of work that I could have had done elsewhere if I would have known better. Once they get you to bring your boat in and commit, thats when they work you over the coals. I have spoken with 3 other boaters in my marina, and they all have had very similar experiences with Driscolls. I will never bring my boat to them again.

Cant say enough about this boatyard. Very helpful staff and accommodated our 81ft ketch and a lot of work. Ivodio, the yard manager, is an absolute legend. Hes been doing this for a long time and has seen just about everything. Needed a paint spec that they used a few months after the work was done, and he got back to me very fast and followed up just to make sure we were all set. Really cant say enough about the quality of work and professionalism of his crew.

We hauled our Panda 40 cutter out to have the bottom painted and the waterline raised a few inches. The work came in under the estimate and they did a fine job, especially since we had put off painting for way too long. We shopped around and they were the most reasonably priced yard. Joe Driscoll and his crew made sure we were out of the water and back in right on our time schedule. Well be back for our next bottom job.

In addition to bottom paint and the replacement of a damaged water outflow fitting, I replaced two dripless shaft seals and two rudder seals. These arent the easiest things to remove and replace, and Driscolls did an excellent job and performed the services according to the initial estimate. The marine tech kept me abreast of the progress, even sending the initial estimate long after normal business hours. He is very easy to work with and has a can do attitude. We both overlooked one item, and I brought the boat back the next business day and they performed the service with a smile.

I went in to the office the other day to ask a very general question. The SUPER NICE lady at the front desk wasnt sure of the answer so she referred me to the women in the office right next to her. Those women were so totally rude and talked down to me like I was a complete idiot. Based on that experience alone I would never refer anyone there........especially in light of other stories Ive heard about the marina in general. Glad I live in a marina where there is common courtesy and I am able to deal with people who want your business or references.

Ive only used Driscolls once, so your mileage may vary.We bought a boat in the Channel Islands and sailed it home to San Diego. I knew the bottom needed to be painted, and since I didnt have a home for it yet in the big bay, we decided to call from Oceanside and see if we could have it hauled and painted. The guys were great. We came in after dark, parked the boat, camped for the night and in the morning when they opened I met a rigging guy before they hauled it out.Honestly, it was cheaper to have it hauled and painted than it was to have it hauled and inspected in Oxnard.I thought that the whole experience went pretty well and I was impressed with the turn around for the work. Done two days early.

Brought my boat there because I had a leak and the bilge pump was broken. Spent $500 (half went towards putting in a new pump and the other half was for pumping out water). I was cool with it until the new one stopped working and the leak came back.Brought in a different mechanic and he said that any good mechanic could see it was just a few bad wires. He replaced them for $15 and told me to avoid Driscoll when repairs are needed.

Employees were so rude. I walked into the shop looking for the restroom. An employee asks me while passing by “do you need help?” .. I ask for he restroom. He tells me “it’s through the boatyard, man” as he runs off. Five minutes later I’m still looking and he asks me in a put off tone “what is it you need , man” I tell him I need the bathroom. He says “I told you it’s through the boatyard”. I inform him I don’t work at a dock and I’m not sure what the boatyard is. He says “ok bye then” and walks away as he says “if you’re going to be rude I don’t need to help you”.Completely bizarre situation that ruined my day and the good mood my boat ride had put me in. Given the choice, absolutely do NOT choose this run down dock that treats customers like an afterthought .
