One of the most horrible purchasing experiences I’ve ever had. I purchased a yacht tender from Shelter Island inflatable‘s from David. In July I received it the end of October which was OK if they had kept in touch with me letting me know how long it would take but nobody would ever take my call call me back when I left messages or even answer the phone.When the boat was delivered to me it had the wrong engine on it. It is the large 14 foot tender that in the picture when I ordered it comes with a white Suzuki engine it was delivered with a black Suzuki engine. Which cost less it’s a downgrade and I paid for the white one. I called back only to find out they said take it or leave it send it back to us we will resell it and you can purchase from someone else. Because of the timeframe I’ve already sold my old boat and I need one and cannot go through re-ordering so I kept the boat because of that and the person who delivered it it was awesome he’s the only one there that I think cares. I would not recommend buying a boat from them

I have had several opportunities to work with Shelter Island Inflatables, after buying a very used Inflatable in 2015. Ray, is great to work with. I have done a bunch here over the years: 1) Get a new tubeset installed, 2) Buy a new Mercury 50HP, 3) Get new upholstery and new cover, 4) Annual Maintenance, 5) Fix broken stuff.I do not own a trailer, as our RIB is in our slip full time. These guys are super accommodating and can pick me up from the Shelter Island Boat Ramp, and bring me back to the ramp when service is done.It really is great having my trusted resource.

I have come here twice to have work done on two different outboards. Both times they were super helpful and accommodating. Most recently I had my Honda outboard thats on my Catalina 250 serviced. There was virtually no cooling water being discharged. The were able to fully service the motor and clean up the water jacket. I appreciated that they gave me an accurate estimate as to cost and timeframe. They told me everything they found and made a couple of recommendations to save me time and money.Ill be back!

WOW what a company and staff!!!! they are twice as good as my Bentley Dealer and that is saying something. Ray thank you is not enough. Your lead and follow up and honest concern to great service is unparalleled. You size up the boat and make recommendations and than let the customer choose. No padding the bill or leading the customer to have other unnecessary work preformed like new car dealers. Please take you boat to them!!!

Had a phenomenal experience with my first time down here with my 2019 Williams 435. Ray is a total pro, I had a considerably long laundry list of repair and maintenance items as I use my boat extensively and he noticed some key things that I missed and we were able to get resolved while still under warranty! In fact he had to fight with the factory on a few items. Just honest competent and very detailed...Even though it’s a very long drive for me from LA I will definitely be back next year!

Had an all around great experience buying a boat from shelter island inflatables. They were so patient helping me customize my Highfield 420. It was ready for delivery when they said it would be. Couldn’t be happier. Thanks David and Ray. Highly recommend them! Look forward to having them take care of the maintenance when it’s needed.

HUGELY DISAPPOINTING! DECEPTIVE, POOR COMMUNICATORS, SLOPPY WORK!My first impression of these gentlemen was very favorable. I actually had hope that they would be able to offer the other poorly rated business in town some competition. Unfortunately, this cast of characters are no better, perhaps even worse.I was told they would be busy until after the July 4 holiday and I was okay with waiting. I received a call from one of them telling me if I get my RIB to them, I could have it back in the water for the holiday. I was again pretty impressed and excited about giving these guys my business. I brought my boat right away. Well... guess what? The holiday came and went, and I havent received so much as a QUOTE from these guys. I called on two different occasions and was told by two different guys that I would have a quote later that day or the next. NOPE. But theyre good at blaming each other. I was told by one of them, Oh, I thought you were someone else. So, I guess someone else is more worthy of getting their work done in a more timely manner than me. Even so, how about taking responsibility for your mistake and honoring your word?!?Finally got a quote and they already had possession of the boat. So, I approved of the work order. Among the work I asked for, was find and fix leaks in the starboard quarter. They did the other couple items on the work list satisfactorily, but look like they simply gave up after installing one patch on the hypalon tube. They didnt even address the one 2 patch that was coming unglued. This was a blatantly obvious easy fix that was completely neglected. When I went to take delivery of the boat, I asked if they were just going to leave it like that. The guy simply said, Yup. REALLY??? This is your idea of find and fix leaks?!?They were fair enough in telling me that some small leaks were on the seam and they could not guarantee they could fix those. Whatever, but I accepted that condition. I DONT accept blatant laziness and sloppiness. The tube is not that riddled with leaks that they could justify getting exhausted. It truly looked like they just felt they had better things to do and didnt feel like working on this boat anymore, and moved on to the next sucker or easy fix.I could go on about other issues, but I think you get the idea. Very very... VERY disappointed in their quality of work, lack of communication, false promises, lack of simple business ethic. OH, one guy DID indeed apologize, but didnt offer to rectify the sloppy work. Apology not accepted.In fairness, they did provide a discount for the work delay. But paying less for sloppy work and aggravation doesnt make it better. I just makes it less expensive slop.By the way, its been a LONG time since Ive written a review for anything. This experience definitely compelled me to do so.
