This store has a boutique-like feel to their specialty bath/beauty items and floral area. Bakery is cute. It is a top-notch store. Decent selection. I just feel as though I spend more money for items at Harmons than where I normally shop, but I can still appreciate the quality and feel of this store. If I feel like spending more, or happen to be close by I know I can find an item I need at Harmons.

The store was amazing... I mean its Harmons so nothing new. However, I wrote this review because one of the staff stands out since he was patient and really nice. All I can remember is that he was a teenage boy having curly/afro hair. I was having a bad day but this young lad welcomed me in by a smile and a greeting. To be honest this is all takes to make a persons day better. Moreover, he was very polite and helpful when I asked for his help. He was also extremely patient although I was asking him for guidance multiple times. All the staff are good and friendly people , but I just wanted to share this experience since he really made my day. I really hope this young gentleman gets a raise !

So. dang. expensive. Everything is so overpriced so I finally had to finally wake up, say good riddance Harmons and shop elsewhere. How do they get away with those prices? People talk about the “better shopping experience” but helloooo the actual experience is the money I use to purchase the food! I don’t understand Harmons. Help me understand. I compared my receipt with another grocery store and I just can’t justify shopping at Harmons anymore. I like saving money too much. Your sourdough bread will always be my #1 but gotta give you up cause you ‘spensive.

I love this grocery store, but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be shopping there again. A good friend of mine was racially profiled there today. And by that I mean he was followed to his car (a Cadillac) and asked for proof of purchase/ receipt for his cart full of groceries. The manager FOLLOWED him to his car, and brought security with her! So unnecessary and demoralizing, right? I’m disappointed, Harmons.

Crystal at the USPS area and a shift manager Ralph treated me very badly. So disappointed even after i spoke to the bosses about their behavior. If they ever start treating u badly i highly suggest to start recording to have proof. I honestly feel like they sided with the employees about the whole incident. I was literally in tears balling my eyes out and completely embarrassing myself because of how the lady treated me. A customer should never feel this way especially since i was a complete stranger and her customer! Very unproffessional. The attitude she put from the beginning was uncalled for. The bosses said they would handle the situation and call back but they failed to do so. I called to follow up and all she said was they had a talk. Not even an apology from the lady Crystal.

Je
Review №33

I waited to post this review until I was sure it wasnt a fluke, because at first I thought their AC must be broken or something. But its been four times now that weve been there and the heat was unbearable. This might sound like a frivolous complaint, but were in a desert where summer temperatures get dangerously high. This last time it was so sweltering that we actually began to feel dizzy, and gave up halfway through shopping and left. We felt ill when we left the store (and no were not sick, were both in our 20s fit and healthy), dripping sweat and exhausted. The kicker was when we left it was actually COOLER outside, and when we checked the temp, it was 95 degrees! Inside must have been in the 90s at least. We wont be going back, but I feel terrible for the employees who have to work in those conditions. They all look tired and miserable, and one in particular had visible sweat and flushed skin, despite just standing at a register. We normally shop in the evenings so maybe they turn off the AC before closing, but regardless its a terrible experience and the workers dont have the option to just leave when it gets too hot. What will it take for you to actually set your AC at a reasonable temperature Harmons? A customer fainting? An employee? It makes me wonder what other corners you cut to save money that customers dont see.

Review №40

Harmons, formerly a store to which I was extremely loyal and which--among three or four SL Valley locations--earned probably 90% of my grocery store business, recently made one change that has made it nearly impossible for me to shop there. For some people, this change might be insignificant, and obviously, Harmons felt that the demographic of customers would mind the change less than the cost-savings it imparted or they would not have done it--at least I assume they studied the issue. Its just difficult to understand how a customer with my habits didnt show up as both impactful to the bottom line, and who would hate this change. But so it goes. The change I am referring to is with the self-check machines that allow one to scan, bag, and pay for ones own groceries without the assistance of a cashier at a regular check stand. About two months ago, all the Harmons locations I frequent limited their self-check machines to credit/debit cards only--no cash, and they have never been able to accept gift cards, despite repeated attempts to fix the software for that when the machines were first installed several years ago. But the no cash policy is the killer for me, because I try very hard to only pay with cash, especially for the pretty much daily sundries I purchase at grocery stores for myself, my daughter, and our dogs. I actually tracked my purchases last year and found I spend an average of $20-25 a day on human and dog supplies. Occasionally I make a shopping trip, spend a few hundred $ and stock up the pantry, but mostly I stop in to a grocery daily and pick up items I need. And again, between people food and dog food, my usual purchase is above $20 a day, jumping to $40 or $50 once or twice a week. And I ALWAYS use the self-check because Im a misanthrope who doesnt want to talk to people, and because I only buy what I can carry, so usually less than a dozen items. And I almost always pay in cash; I dont want to use a card.I assume the cash feature on the self-check machines must have been requiring a lot of expensive maintenance, and management found it easiest to just remove the option entirely. Thats unfortunate, because I love the products and the happy employees at Harmons, but again, I dont want to be forced to use a card or wait in a check stand line, so instead of five or seven days a week buying something at Harmons, its now more like once a every other month or so, and Im grudgingly learning to tolerate Smiths sub-par offerings.

Harmons is a very appealing place to shop. Their produce section is beautifully laid out and the fruits and veggies are ready to eat without being on their way out. I was particularly impressed with the avocado selection. The downside of Harmons is the expense, which is significantly higher than any supermarket Ive shopped in Salt Lake City, possibly even higher than Whole Foods. Its pretty steep for Utah. However, this place is so visually appealing and has such an interesting array of gourmet foods and other unusual items that it is worth the splurge once a month or so.

The ONLY reason I am giving 2 stars is because the employees here are amazing and sincere. The prices are a bit high. The main reason for my review however, is my pharmacy experience. So I have 2 health insurances, and I gave them both of my cards, and had been doing this for about a year. They never said a word to me, but apparently they never billed my secondary insurance and all the costs were being taken put of my fathers flex spending. I didnt notice until I was charged for a prescription and called in the next day and they have no record of my secondary insurance. I always gave them the card, so I have no idea why they would never tell me they were not billing that insurance. I asked if there was any way to re bill it and the guy told me no. So I found out that my dads account was short $200 due to their error. So I called back and asked to speak to a manager who was not available. So I asked the man I was speaking to how I could get the prescriptions re billed. In less than 2 minutes he re billed a prescription and I got an $8 difference for 1 transaction, so it was possible and I have no idea why no one did this in the first place or at least why they didnt tell me. So now I am waiting and having to deal with 2 insurance companies to get the rest of my prescriptions re billed because they were past the pharmacy time limit. I am furious about this and will NEVER use this pharmacy again. (Also, as a side note, I was given the wrong prescription for 2 months before they realized the error, so something to think about before trusting these people with your medication.)

There are a lot of things to love about this Harmons and all Harmons in general including the amount of local and artisan items they rotate in and out. What isnt great about this location is that the produce selection is fairly abysmal, particularly if you dont feel like paying an absurd amount of money for an organic only selection. The most frustrating part is their bakery which theoretically has a lot of potential. Their bakery couldnt bake a decent loaf of bread of their lives depended on it. Their french baguettes are typically so over-baked that the ends are dark dark brown and sometimes even black. Every. Single. Time. So I thought we would try the french county round loaf. Well turns out the center of it was completely raw - like dough stuck to my fingers, stone cold raw. We ended up using the ends then throwing away the center because we didnt feel like playing russian roulette with our tummy. Needless to say, a little bit of QC would go a long way because it isnt like this at every location - their bread used to be some of the best grocery store baguettes.

HIGH PRICES, HORRIBLE GIFT CARD SYSTEM. This store seems nice enough, but there are a couple of things I dont like about Harmons in general. The main problem is that prices on almost all items are higher than at other grocery stores. The other issue is how bad the Harmons gift card system is. I got a gift card a little over a year ago. When I went to use it today at the store, it said invalid, and when I try to check the balance over the phone and online it says the same thing. Then I saw the inactivity fee policy on the back of the card: if the card is not used for 12 months, they apply a $2 fee per month RETROACTIVELY, which means they recently applied $24 of fees against the card balance, taking it down to zero. Its not unusual for a gift card to have an inactivity fee, but Ive never seen one which applies it retroactively. Maybe thats why my card wont work, but Ill never know because their system apparently cant give me any information. Not very impressive, Harmons.

The store is huge — too huge. Miss something at one end, and its a half-block trek back to the other end to find it, but thats not why Im giving the store only two stars.Specifically, this review is about their salad bar. I like salads, and my wife suggested it.Like the store itself, the salad bar was big. It was also messy, badly stocked and the utensils were covered with the greasy debris of hundreds of people handling them with food on their hands. The dressing bottles were a mess, with their contents coating the outside of the plastic bottles. The floor around the salad bar was covered with various vegetable bits and other assorted chunks of food that had fallen down and not been cleaned.By the time I had finished making my salad, my hands felt like I had dipped them into a bottle of oily sludge. Its as if the employees hadnt bothered to clean or restock anything. But the worst part came at the checkout counter. The total for our two less-than-appetizing salads came to twenty-four dollars! With those kinds of prices, the store could easily hire a full-time person to look after the salad bar to make sure its well-stocked and, most important, clean.

The focal point being the pharmacy, they have no idea what service means at all.I have moved my business else where and recommend if you want better service try another place to get it.I doubt the Harmon brothers will ever get to see this but the Brickyard store needs their attention.

Oh man. Shoppers paying Harmons via check for their groceries: BEWARE.My mom shops at this location weekly to buy groceries for my grandmother in Sugar House. Harmons sent my mother to collections this week due to the technical malfunction of their check scanning equipment. The scanner stretched out the routing and account number, resulting in a bounced check (clearly Harmons mistake). Rather than calling the phone number or sending a letter to the address on the upper hand corner of the check, Harmons hastily sent my mom to collections and blacklisted her checking account with Bonneville Collections.Once my Mom received word from the collections agency via post, she reached out to Harmons, her bank, and the collection agency. Of course, she was happy to pay for the groceries and clear the accidental debt; she didnt want free groceries.Unfortunately, Harmons employees rejected my mothers request to remove her name from their collections on the basis this debt was a technical mistake made on the part of their company. Now, not only does she have to pay an additional $20 fee to the collections agency, she also has her personal credit stained by Harmons irresponsibility.Shame on Harmons financial department and their customer services poor handling of the situation.

I went to the brickyard branch. Have question about mushrooms at mediterranean bar. Approached the ladies at the food bar, all too busy to make eye contact and when they finally see you they reluctantly help. It is not going to hurt to be nice to customers besides helping customers is part of their job.
