Stumbled upon this buzzy spot while using the nearby electric charging station; casual wavelength, warm staff, stellar cuppa joe.

Stopped in for a coffee and a quick bite. Good vibe in terms of look and feel. No greeting, smile or even a hello. Barista answered my questions and seemed very disinterested. Another guy was behind the counter, sitting in a chair, leaning back on his phone and I couldnt tell if he was an employee or just a good friend of the employee or owner. I get casual and comfortable, but a little much for a business. Menu options were very limited (compared to what is online). New to the neighborhood and overall it was a disappointing experience.

Really cool vibe, barista was friendly. Would like to come back and check out the music scene. The only reason I didnt give 5🌟 is because their coffee is CRAZY expensive. It was almost $7 for a basic 12oz latte, which was decent, but not worth $7.

Great Place. Great batistas and customer service. Very lively vibe and just a great place to go to if you ever want to escape something and find a place to relax your mind, meet new people and make great friends. Their teas are great and really get me going and concentrated. Their vibe is great along with the euphoric drinks they have to provide. Everything here complements eachother, the owner Sam even offered me a free drink when I had an intense game of chess with him.

Shine is a great place! They have lots of seating and its a nice open space with a lot of seating. The coffee, specifically the cold brew, and food are great!

I felt unwelcome; the barista wasnt friendly.Hopefully, they work on their customer service. The bagel and latte were good.

Shine is near my place of employment so it is convenient but the service and quality is also consistent and that is why I continue to patronize this coffee shop. I only go during the morning hours so I can only speak of service and quality during this time of day. Every drink I have purchased has been prepared well and I really enjoy their breakfast burritos - they are incredibly hearty and just delicious. All the staff are pleasant and seem to set a high standard of service for themselves. Oh! I love the local art displayed which is also available for purchase. Great spot in my humble opinion.

I liked Shine Cafe before it was sold and they changed the concept. Now every time I walk by, there are at least half a dozen people without masks inside the cafe.

Great staff, good music, and chai lattes. This is great neighborhood spot. They make some pretty great food as well.

Staff was friendly enough but the food and drinks are way over priced for the quality. Paid $7 for a ham and cheese croissant I could have easily made at home for less. Also not comforting that they’re an indoor open business that doesn’t wear masks.

An open, fun cafe tucked away into the neighborhood north of downtown Sacramento. They serve coffee along with a menu of breakfast and lunch items. I got their California Dreamin sandwich and was not disappointed. Their coffee is good and they even offer beer on tap. They have some fun live music - Jazz Thursdays and other bands on the weekends. Top it off with free WiFi and great service.

This place is great. Everyones really friendly, good coffee, breakfest and they got beer! To all the people saying that this place is a superspeader place stop living your life in fear just because the media tells you too. If your scared wear a mask or dont go to the place. Businesss have been hit hard enough over this past year quit trying ruin more peoples livelihoods.

Every time Ive gone in recently I felt very uncomfortable and not just because no ones wearing a mask. As a queer person I just dont feel safe there.

They serve Temple coffee and it’s amazing. The staff is friendly. This is the perfect place to get a bit to eat some coffee and have a study session.

COVID deniers! Staff does not wear masks (and obviously do not require customers to). If they cant even follow basic temporary covid compliance regulations I can only imagine how well they follow food/drink safety regulations. People eating and drinking indoors with no masks. Stay away from this place, the owner Sam is dishonest and treats people very poorly. To the owner Sam and staff not cool to mistreat 3rd party independent contract gig workers delivering items to your business especially during a pandemic.

An oasis in Mansion Flats. Good food and drink, a little culture, and super friendly staff. I hope they manage to stay open cuz Covid 🤮

This is a nice place. I came here to hear local artist Katie Knipp perform a few Friday nights ago and really enjoyed myself. The ladies working the counter were very friendly and the performance, well, WOW. Katie was incredible. I sure hope Shine books her again because I’ll be back if so, even though I live clear across town. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I had to wait a really long time for my drink. When I finally approached the counter to ask what was taking so long, the barista admitted she had accidentally given my drink to someone else.

This cafe gets better and better every time I go in here. They have added a lot to this neighborhood. Its not pretentious, the coffee and food are good and not overpriced, and the staff is friendly. If you live in this neighborhood, stop on in. If you want to go for a bike ride, there are plenty of bike racks now so you can ride in and park. Theres live music, too. I love Shine.

Food and drinks are great. Service is poor. The last 5(!) times Ive gone they have forgotten to order my food or a drink. Ive had to wait 20 minutes several times for food because it wasnt ordered. I was also the only person in there, or only one other person so it wasnt like they were slammed. While the staff is generally very nice, Ive never even got a single apology for them messing up my order. 5 times. The place is cozy, has a great atmosphere, and is close to home so its very sad they have consistently poor service.

This place is SO good that I really did not want to rate it because I dont want all you people coming here because its my magic little retreat. But I also dont want it to go out of business. So please just dont come between 9-11 ok thanks.

Shine isnt your fast paced franchise coffee shop but neither is it in that high priced elitist special blend organic almond milk fresh mint niche. It feels like an old college town coffee place, where you will find some one reading Kant, reciting poetry, or just spending time with friends. Theres even a small stage where presumably, poetry could be recited or a small band might play. They have some tasty food options, my bowl of oatmeal this morning had a tasty mix of fresh banana, blueberry, and strawberry. As I relaxed and read my book, a manager was training a new barista. He said something that really summed up my observations. Dont worry about speed, that will come...you want to focus on quality.

One of the best spots of its kind in the area. The bill was appropriate for the quality. Like a restaurant in Washington I loved.

Avoid this place. Theyre anti-maskers and put peoples lives and the Sacramento economy at risk. Theyve had multiple 311 health code violations as a result of this.

The freezer water was well free, the route was nice, it was a bit busy but not overly so call Mark however the single restroom was a bit much to endure. I ended up waiting for the restroom for over 20 minutes. There is a small collection of books available a small stage. The three stars was primarily due to he the restrooIssue.

Have been coming here for third Speak Out Sacramento for a little under a year and am always surprised by the outcome. Small selection of good beer and good eats too. Great for a date or meet up spot

Cute little coffee shop. Its dog friendly so its nice to see cute pups in line while you wait for your breakfast! Also the fact that they serve Temple Coffee is a definite plus. Sweet staff, too!!

I like Shine Cafe. They have a variety of foods for different times of day. I have only been there for snacks, but I know that they make good things!

One of the few genuine, independent, unpretentious coffee shops left in midtown. This is my favorite. If True Love was still around Shine would be a close second as both were the perfect mix of relaxing and chill and friendly and eclectic and not faux eclectic as is the case at many coffee shops that try to hard to be kitschy.

This place shines my heart away with their vanilla chai top with cinnamon. Very delicious. The taste is addicting! Shine makes it like no other.

Cool event idea to host open mic every other Tuesday but it’s more of an inner circle type of place. The hosts were clearly putting their friends on stage and announced that a lot of people wouldn’t get to perform right before they closed shop. Pretty disappointing. I went there to watch a friend perform and instead had to watch a bunch of people that knew each other go about how they love each other’s style etc. Limited seating and One restroom for about 30-100 people. Probably won’t be back.

Shine has been a solid coffee shop/cafe/live venue for the last several years. Its changed owners a couple times, but with each new iteration comes a better version of the space. As of now, theyve great food, coffee and tea drinks, beer and wine, lovely staff, and one of the last good open mics in town.

Cute little cafe. We went to watch our friends daughters piano recital so the place was pretty crowded but they kept up with the orders and the craziness with smiles on their faces.

Nice place for a quick bite for breakfast. The breakfast burrito is great and rather inexpensive. Be sure to grab a cup of coffee brewed with Temple beans (the best!).

Vegan Samosa was delicious! The chai latte with almond milk was also very good. Loved the atmosphere!

My coffee shop reviews are from the perspective of a teleworker. Coffee was good and they offer a limited selection of food but they do offer lunch which is great. Service was friendly but slow even when not busy. They ran out of cups but no one came to tell me, only when I came back to the counter. I could have waited even longer. They have limited power outlets mostly around the perimeter. All day parking is available but limited. The big negative is the problematic wifi. Speeds were OK, but as they told me only a limited number of connections are available. During a busy morning hour it took me 20 mins to connect.

I ❤️ Shine. The staff is friendly, the coffee is hot and tasty, and they even have delicious salads! The space is comfortable, and there is a variety of seating to choose from.My only gripe is that sometimes the kitchen / food prep creates smoke that is not properly ventilated. I have experienced eye irritation from this on 2 occasions.Its such a great place, though. Ill definitely keep coming back.

Amazing options and variety. When they hold events it is amazing. I never heard about this location before but now that I know about it I definitely have to come by more often.

Ordered food that took 45 minutes, couldnt even get my drink, brewed coffee was disgusting and they had this horrible show where the music was to loud. I go to a coffee shop to sit quietly not listen to people sing horribly in my ear!! I will NEVER return here!

This place is exactly what my son needed. A cool place to hang out have coffee, eat & enjoy local music especially Jazz. At 17 having an all ages place w/ free music during the week & bands with a cover charge on the weekend is priceless. On Thurs night they even have a jazz jam session where you can get up on stage & play your instrument

Its cute, they have a stage, and they serve coffee and stuff, its a bit too trendy for my taste and the parking is always bad at that corner but if you live downtown, its worth checking out. Theres an adorable kitty that hangs around outside.

I love shine. They have a good array of beverages. I just wish the Evening menu was more like the lunch menu.

The most horrible experience for my wife and I. Im disabled and my choice of a reward was to enjoy a cup of coffee with my wife. They refused us because I only purchased wanted to purchase $37 worth and I only had a $100 bill refuse to service us because she didnt have any change.im sadden by the disappointment of how they handled it or even considered to accommodate us .

My wife and I went for lunch on a Thursday around 2pm. They had great food, music, coffee and lattes. I would recommend the Shine to family, friends, locals and visitors to Sacramento, this is a nice place to eat.

Shine used to be my favorite coffee spot in Sacramento. I frequently met with friends and clients there. But when the ownership changed, so did the ambiance. Gone were the overstuffed sofas, quirky lamps, old fashioned chairs, and the wonderful funky, unique, combo Boho/Victorian parlor feel of the place. Now its just so-so, almost utilitarian - not a place I would want to meet with a friend/colleague/client and chat. The coffee is fine, but the atmosphere is lacking for me.

I always have a great time and always meet someone interesting here! I highly recommend

Its going to take me a while to get over the crunchy bug that was in my chai this morning. (It was about the size of a pincher, cant say for sure given the dismemberment after I spit it out - see photo.) Boyfriend likes the breakfast burritos.

Good vibes, friendly customers, and the staff have always been really nice to me! Happy this spot has vastly improved/changed the management, it really makes a difference in the neighborhood. I enjoy the samosas a teas.

I live less than 2 minutes walk from the location, and eat there constantly, as well as have the occasional beer from the tap. (I recommend the nutty brown) The atmosphere is hipster without the usual arrogance that accompanies it. No one really bothers you or is loud, its actually great during the daytime for a casual beer and watching something on your phone or laptop with the free WiFi offered. The staff is what makes this place. The super chill people that work here are the reason I keep returning, and they stay with the same staff members, as no one seems to be leaving or disgruntled. Keep it up¡!
