Awesome little shop with cool wood slabs! However… the coffee is… burnt to say the least. I can appreciate somewhat darker roasted coffee, but this is DARK.

What? You havent been to insight? Its one of the best minimalist coffee shops and roasters in the city - a nice covered patio and large interior await you.Coffee is delicious, small batch, and tends to be on the medium roast side with special dark and light options when available.

Great pull in the double espresso. Wasnt bitter at all with the perfect amount of cream.

I ordered a large chai tea and it was great, but the shop feels more like a lumber yard than a coffee shop. Seating is stools with no back. With all of the coffee/ tea options in town, if you are looking for comfort or ambiance, Identity doesnt cut it.

The coffee is good. The space is cool. The cups leak. 2 out of 3 aint bad.

So disappointed. I used to love coming here when I worked at my store in Midtown. I went to get coffee this morning and they wouldnt serve me without a mask(I have a medical exemption). I wont be back and I wont be sending my customers over anymore.

Coffee is good, employee is friendly. Breakfast burrito was microwaved, luke warm and not eatable. Good thing co-op is down the street with some fresh burritos.

Lets get this out of the way first. The coffee is good and I enjoyed my daily walks to Identity . Keyword... enjoyed.My coworkers and I look forward to taking a break from the chaos that is work by taking a stroll down to Identity and picking up a delicious cup of coffee. Again, I did enjoy their product. However, what I witnessed from the individual that identified himself as the owner of Identity was appalling and disheartening. A 2nd coworker had accompanied us on the walk and went to her preferred coffee spot prior to meeting up with us (We asked her to meet us at Identity). While I was paying for my coffee and 2 bags of beans (a weekly pricey routine), I could hear an individual launching into a tirade directed at my coworker who had just walked in. Although I didnt get the entire interaction, what I did here was You are what is wrong with America directed at my coworker, who embarrassed and shocked promptly left the establishment.As I waited in the uncomfortable and tense silence of the shop with my other coworker waiting for her drink (had about 8 customers inside), I would come to find out that the owner was not happy that my colleague was holding a competitors coffee while in HIS shop. Instead of politely asking her to not bring outside drinks in, he chose to take the vile route and attacked her verbally and questioned her character as a person. He clamored that THEY could make a drink better than hers. This interaction made other customers and his own employees uncomfortable, and made me feel guilty for having asked my coworker to meet us at the establishment.While my coworker, embarrassed and mortified, waited for us outside, a customer that had witnessed the altercation came to apologize to her. Something this individual did not need to do but felt compelled to (kindheartedness still exists).Im not one that typically writes reviews (here I am writing one at midnight), however this incident troubled me profoundly. The establishment has now lost multiple customers. Something that is unfortunate, considering the difficult times we are in.I will chose to patronize a local shop that shows respect for the members of the community it serves.

Ive made the rounds to different places in the Grid and this is my favorite coffee shop in Sacramento. Been coming for a couple of years now. Its a great place to work with plenty of outlets and seating. Its very industrial inside but large wood tables in warm finishes warm things up. The staff are great and the drinks are pretty good too.

First time there today and I loved it. Super minimal and relaxing. I love the picnic benches, a way of sharing s seat and bringing people together. The counter was off the hook incredible art. It was wood bricks that were sealed. It showed all the natural grains and character - the story- of the tree. I couldnt stop touching it. All the seating was hand made wood work. Gorgeous and poetic. The coffee was delicious! I also liked the presentation of their food case and they even had honey sticks! Everything was clean and wiped down. No refuse hanging around the garbage. Its clear the ladies behind the counter care about what they bring to their customer as individuals and collectively. Well done!

Delicious herbal tea and latte, fast service, cozy atmosphere! Recommend!

Best food and best coffee is available here with amazing ambiance and atmosphere. I just love visiting this place with my friends.

Lots of space, nice hardwood tables, outlets, bike parking, friendly folks, great coffee. Fast wifi. Good crowd for everyone from young office bureaucrats on lunch break to hipsters, bikers, normal unassuming people in need of caffeine, and meetings/coffee dates. They have pastries but I didnt order any. Nothing about this place sucks. Just go here, k?

Stopped in for a quick capp on my way to work. Staff were very friendly and kind - a nice change from some of the more haughty third wave coffee shops. Great cappuccino and industrial atmosphere. Beautiful live edge tables - will definitely be back.

Im loving this place more and more. The staff are welcoming and into coffee. The space is actually pretty cool and open. Seems a little cold from the outside at first, but turns out to be a good place to do a little bit of work with an excellent brew.

The coffee never disappoints. They host the midtown bizarre which is a great way to bring the community together. The atmosphere is perfect to meet up with a friend or to get work done.

Good coffee, nice atmosphere, beautiful woodwork and occasional market inside of the space.Identity coffee was opened by Lucky, formally of Insight Coffee along with a few other folks in the Sac coffee scene. The coffee that they serve is tasty, on par with what Insight Coffee serves. I went on a Saturday when there was an inside market called Midtown Bizare where local folks were selling handmade goods. There is certainly identity in this coffee shop. Industrial design, high ceilings, concrete floors and lots of space make this coffee shop unique and attractive to trendy crowds. Given the spaciousness, lots of people select this place to work or study.To test any new coffee shop I select one of my standard drinks, a cortado. Delivered to my table, the drink had plenty or aroma and rich flavor. I would rate it 8 out of 10. I felt it just a bit simple, but maybe the standard coffee beans they use are not as complex as those used in a drink that Id rate a 10. Nevertheless, loved this coffee shop!Parking is street only.

Stopped by this afternoon. Friendly staff. Limited offerings, more dedicated to the primal coffee choices (Latte, Mocha, Drip, Espresso, Iced) rather than the additive flavor diversity at places Like Starbucks.I had a plain Coffee. It was delicious. Next time, I hope to try the cold press. If all you want is a good cup of coffee and are willing to spend a bit more, definitely a perfect choice!

If you want a cup of coffee as good as the various hot spots in Sac without the trying to hard to make you feel like a coffee elitist vibe, this is your place.I love the simplicity of everything from the moment you walk in the door. Baristas are always down to earth and tastefully conversational. I also love the minimalist design choices made throughout the room.

I tried the nitro cold brew and the cascara coffee tea. Both were exceptional and had a distinct flavor. Large open setting and many seats. I would definitely return.

Ive been wanting to try this place for awhile and this morning was my chance. We enjoyed the tasty pastries and the coffee/ Chai tea latte was delicious. We liked the hand crafted wood tables and the music was just what I listen to. It was a wonderful way to start the morning.

Decent espresso quality, terrible milk/foam work, and another major issue:I came in to get a heavy cream latte (keto diet and a serious coffee jones). Normally, coffee places charge me for a breve, or add a milk upcharge to the breve. Nothing major. Breve cost plus ~$.75 or $1.00.This place charged me the $4.25 12oz price PLUS $4.00!! If the drink had blown my mind, okay...Im on-board. Unfortunately, a middling ten-ish dollar latte makes me a little sick (not literally, obviously).Youre probably asking yourself, why did he give 2 stars instead of 1? The coffee wasnt 1-star coffee, but the experience definitely was. Credit where its due.

Consistently great coffee and espresso. Seating options are limited and could definitely be improved by adding more soft surfaces and different textures than concrete - feels a little empty and cold.

One of the best vibes in town to get coffee. Taste is always great, snack selections are fresh daily (bakery items) and the baristas are super cool. Plenty of places to sit and outlets as well. Parking outside is 1 and 2 hour parking depending on the side of the street. Wifi is super quick.

Went here on Saturday mid-day and had a delicious cafe-au-lait and a very crumbly coffee cake with blueberries. Ambiance is very relaxed, clean and pleasant, spacious, plenty of space to sit and talk without being overheard. I love the steel saw bed? in the middle. Im not a fan of over-burnt, caramelized coffee and Im plaeased to say that this was one of the top three coffee experiences Ive had in Sacramento.

Excellent tea choices and proper brewing technique (i.e. they dont just put a bag of tea in hot water and hand it to you, they brew the tea for you and give you a finished cup of tea ready to drink)

Top notch coffee, awesome decor with an eye for modernistic simplicity. Within the great coffee scene of Sacramento, Identity is inferior to none of the more well-established coffee houses (you know what they are), and that really speaks volume.

The coffee was strong and clean, not muddled by garbage. This place is fantastic and full of helpful knowledgeable staff.

Coffee is really good, ambience is a little strange. The artisanal wood is arranged inartfully imo, kind of a Rainforest Cafe™ vibe but without the sprinklers and cool animals
