Lack of customer courtesy and nickels and dimes every service. Rude front desk and over priced cheap frames. Im done. Id rather pay more elsewhere then be subjected to their dry demeanors. Even behind a mask, you can smile and be polite. Even the Dr. was rude when I visited in Dec. I kept giving them a try but I wont be going back.

I currently live in Florida, and visit Roanoke VA for some doctors that I feel are superior to the physicians in Florida. Dr Johnson is definitely in that group! He is top notch!

I have been going to Dr.Johnson for years, and he is a super Optometrist. He is always cheerful, and very thorough and informative. His staff are equally as great. They know all the options available and the benefits of what they sell. I love their selection of beautiful frames.

Staff and doctors are polite, very professional. Exam was very thorough. With that was done I was in and out in 45 minutes to an hour maybe a little longer. Office very clean if someone is curious

Ended up having a crazy day at work and Dr Johnson got me in and out quickly. His staff even let me go take a zoom call in the parking lot and come back in and order my contacts. I appreciate their understanding and kindness.

Staff exceptionally nice . No problem there . The problem is they don’t know their job when it comes to prices and insurance. Kelsey was very nice but the price in my glasses kept going up and up? She told me my total and I agreed . Took my health equity card and charged $40 more than what she told me my total was ! I got so frustrated I felt as if no one knew what I did owe so I cancelled the order ! The refund cannot be out back on the health card so they have to now send me a check. They need to be educated on how to verify insurance! Very frustrating

After years of dealing with Dr. Blackstock and recently with Dr. Johnson I had my first bad experience with his location. Dr. Johnson is a great Doctor but my experience on April on April 26, 2021 showed the incompetence level of his staff! They put the worn lenss in the wrong frames. I ask them why they didnt ask me or look at the lens. So they came out and said our mistake and we will send the lenss back at no charge! Really like they were doing me some favor. My patience was tried when I ask for the ready glasses back even if they were in the wrong frames, but they insisted that they needed to send them back. They wanted to give me my old lenss back. Why I cant see out of them but hey no appologies. So speaking with the manager her response yes we had to send them back and that was it. I will not return to this location again. Beware and know that they do not care! They should have put a rush on the new lenss to help their customer. Not the same group anymore.

Everyone was very nice and helpful. Dr. Johnson took time to explain my problem.

My wife who has a severe incurable eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa which severely deteriorates her Peripheral and overall vision. Additionally, she has a lazy eye which reduces her vision further leaving only about 50 to 55 percent visability in the one good eye. I cancelled my appointment but specifically stated that my wifes appointment was to remain as is due to the fact she has been suffering a great deal trying to see and function at home as a mother abd at work as a full-time employee. This lady was rude...aloof...and sarcastic the entire time my wife and her exchanged verbally to no avail. I was on the phone listening. She wouldnt even try to help her in any way,work her in(even though the office was empty and quiet) or talk to the doctor I requested to speak with.Refused to give her superiors contact information...and declined to find a nurse to assist my wife. She even laughed at her in her face one point. THIS IS A GROSS SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC AND THE DISABLED.

As always the personnel in the valley view office were fantastic. Ive been going there for the last 23 years to have my eyes examined Dr Johnson is a very thorough doctor and I appreciate his ability to help his patients understand what hes doing, and Sarah was very helpful in getting me what I needed and the insurance paying what they needed to pay!!!!it just really I will continue to go to this center every time I need to see an eye doctor!!!!

Dr.Johnson and Dr. Curran were perfect candidatesto take over for Drs Newman and Blackstock. They came in and had a great transition taking over the optometrist business. They make you feel like you are part of their family and explain everything in a manner that you can understand. And if you dont understand, they see to it that you do before you leave.The staff is always knowledgeable and courteous to your needs. I have nothing but good things to say about the Premier Optometrists of the Valley.

Ive been going to Johnson Curran near the Valleyview mall for a couple of years now. Ive never waited long to be seen and the staff is nice and professional. If you need to get your eyes check, I recommend giving this office a try.

Dr Johnson is excellent! He’s professional, courteous knowledgeable and friendly. His exam is very thorough. He picked up on a subtle problem I had and sent me for additional screening that resulted in surgery, which saved further vision loss. I’ve been going to this office for several years and have had good experiences with them.

My appointment was at 11 and at 11:45 I was still waiting to be seen. Then I found out there was an emergency walkin so it but him behind. Communication goes a long way when people do not have all day to sit and wait. Hate that this is not a practice that they can do.

Great place and the people are awesome

Two and a half weeks ago my daughter , husband and my self went to get our eye exams. My daughter and myself pick out glasses that we were told was 100% covered by our insurance. I pay out of pocket an extra $250 to have the lighter lenses and no glare. My daughters came in last week no problem we picked them up and out we went. WELL mine came in yesterday and I went to pick them up , they wanted an other $200 dollars. They said i only paid $10 on mine and when I said I have my receipts they then change it to well insurance didnt cover these. NO I was told that there were covered I got a frame that was only $89 my limit was $150 how were they not covered? They were 14 days ago! The man also over changed us in the first place they fix that yesterday. I have been going her for 10 years and Im very disappointed now. I didnt get my glasses because I didnt have another $200 to give them. I told them to return them and I will go somewhere else. They lie, over charge and staff is under trained. The doctor was great. Go for the exam but get your glasses elsewhere.

Never had an issue with this place until here recently, went to the eye doctors 2 weeks ago and my glasses are still not here! Starting to get irritated with this place none of the staff can give me an answer as to why my glasses aren’t here yet. Been told they’ll track them and someone will call me back but that didn’t happen someone should have tracked them while they were on the phone with me. Absolutely ridiculous! Peoples eyes change over time therefore their prescription changes you would think they would get peoples glasses in sooner rather than later so that people can adjust to the new prescription.

Awesome Dr. Johnson is the best been to many eye doctors Dr. Johnson tops them all office staff isnt as friendly as the doctor the girl that waited on me to order my glasses wasnt helpful at all wasnt friendly and was very short with her answers she acted like she didnt want to wait on me for the 1000.00 I spent twice in 2 years they would treat you somewhat better anyway doctor Johnson is the best

Every time I’ve gone here I’ve had to return to get my prescription rechecked and changed because it is never right the first time. Hidden fees galore, rude staff, Dr. Johnson won’t tell you specifics about your prescription during the exam in order to leave open the possibility of squeezing every last cent they possibly can from you. He leaves all of his staff to do his dirty work of overcharging people, by the time you find out what your bill is, he’s nowhere to be found. Beware that they will charge you $30 to tell you what your PD is, even if they already have the information in the system from a previous time you paid them for the service.

My exam occurred right on time. Staff was very friendly and helpful with my glasses selection and insurance allowance. Dr. Johnson as always was friendly and answered all my questions about issues I had with my eyes. Enjoyed the friendly and sometimes amusing chit chat with him and the staff.

I visited the Johnson Curran Eye Center on Valley View and the service I received was phenomenal! I was helped almost immediately and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable! Best experience ever. Cindy. Sarah, and Erin were fantastic! Visit them today!

I recently had to switch to Johnson and Curran due to change in insurance. It was the worst decision I ever made.my wife and I both had appointments in August. We both ordered new glasses. I couldnt get the frames I wanted because the girl waiting on us was no help. I have worn titmus titanium frames for 15 years and could get them everywhere but here! My wife got her glasses in 2 weeks and the prescription was completely wrong. She had her eyes checked again. They called and had my wifes ready. She picked them up and got called a few days later saying her lenses were in. Then we found out the second lenses were her old prescription. She picked these up and mine were finally ready after 4 weeks. She brought mine home and the prescription was completely wrong. We took them back the next day. They scheduled me another appointment. Went for that appointment and ordered new lenses. They came in 2 weeks later. The trifocal was the wrong height. They asked that I wear them and make sure the prescription was right before reordering lenses. I called 1-1/2 weeks later and told them the prescription was good and to order lenses with proper height trifocals. Called 2 weeks later to check on lenses. I was told they didnt order the lenses that they only needed to be adjusted. I have had trifocals for 10+ years and I know where they need to be. Took glasses back the next day. Dealt with Sarah right away we could tell she didnt care about the issues weve had. She checked and found the trifocals were too low. She said they would reorder them and try to get them rushed. I asked to talk to Dr Johnson about the issues. He was backed up and told us he would call. Its been 7 days and I still havent gotten a call. I got on there web site and filled out a contact form asking someone to call. Again no call. It has now been 14 weeks and 9 trips and still have not received my proper glasses and they still havent gotten the side shields either. And no one at this company seems to care. I paid in full up front so they have me over a barrel and have no choice but to continue dealing with them.

Ive had two positive experiences working with this office. People have been friendly, my exam was thorough, and my appointment was timely. Im not sure what all the negative reviews are about, but I dont think they accurately reflect this office as a whole

Ive been going here for probably 20+ years even before it was at Valleyview. I think Dr. Johnson is great, however his new staff isnt the most friendly. They seem to hate their job and just want to get you in and out. They werent mean just not nice they were blunt and quick which isnt what you want when you are paying 300.00+ for services. I only have to go once a year so thankfully i wont have to deal with them for a while. However if the next time i go its the same Ill be looking for another eye place.

Please do not go here. They will tell you that you need glasses no matter what your prescription. The staff is not trained. I have 20/20 vision(perfect vision) and was told i needed glasses. If you dont wanna waste money go to an ophthalmologist.

The Valley View office is the best office in Roanoke. Dr. Johnson is very kind. He did more during my eye exam than any other doctor in Roanoke. The glasses make my vision much better! I was very happy they took my insurance. A+!

Staff rude!. Dont greet! Attitude and Professionalism is everything. I am going to change optometrists. This place used to be great but unfortunately they have hired the wrong staff. They need to evaluate they hire!😥

Buyer beware. Instead of making a simple phone call or sending a bill they will just send your bill to collections even though your whole visit should have been covered if they didnt add charges they knew werent covered under medicaid.

I have been going here for years. They changed their name and their customer service.They had broken equipment and I was not told this so I did not get the full eye exam. That was ok. Then while my eyes are dilating, I was told I can pick out frames. So because nothing is priced, I pick out 3. I am then informed my insurance pays for 100 towards frames but only the frames on the wall which I didn’t like any of. I am told I can’t get the frames I really wanted because they are only for people with a certain insurance, I was not told I can get them without using my insurance, just I cannot get those. I got my prescription and will go someplace else. I was not offered a receipt for the visit or the dark plastic lenses for me to drive home with dialated eyes. Highly disappointed in this place this time...I will not be going back. Gave 2 stars because the exam was good.

Rude Staff:I have been there previously. Tried making an appointment online and they never called me back to confirm. After 2 days I call their desk in Valley View to make an appointment. The lady was really rude and refused to make an appointment unless I updated my insurance information with them. I didnt have the card infront of me, Im making an appointment. I could have gotten them that information in the days/weeks prior to my appointment.

We love Dr. Johnson and his staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.
