We found him by accident and we were impressed immediately. My Mother’s antique table was damaged during our move here and I was so upset. John totally restored it like new and I am so grateful. John Allen/Capital Restoration did a gorgeous job of refinishing our dining room table. Weve had this table for over 20 years and the finish was starting to break down especially on the empty nesters end of the table where we eat daily. John, was professional and pleasant to talk to, he didnt act rushed and was very meticulous in his repairs. We ordered a bedroom set that was custom made from walnut, we ordered a California King and received one bed rail for a queen and one for a California King; needless to say this didnt work for us. We were sent the proper one but it was damaged in many places compromising the integrity of the bed. John worked diligently for 3.5 hours to ensure I was satisfied and he is an interesting gentleman to talk to and bis background is Impressive, he is polite and, he is very friendly. I would recommend him Hands down and if I need anything in the future I would not hesitate to call him.

John restored my mahogany dining room table that is a family heirloom, estimated to be about 200 years old. I couldn’t have been happier with the entire experience. I requested quotes from numerous businesses. John was one of two that asked to see the table in person and the only one that was willing to drive to me to see it (it’s rather large, heavy and difficult for me to move). He offered a fair quote, reasonable timeframe and didn’t pressure me for a decision. He picked up the table then COVID hit. He still finished the table within the estimated timeframe and delivered it without consequence. His workmanship is outstanding. My father says the table looks just as he remembers it as a little boy. John repaired several damages in addition to stripping and refinishing the surface. It’s absolutely beautiful. I had a custom made piece from Korea that was broke during a move and they restored the piece just like when I first purchased it. I cannot seek the break lines in the piece at all! It looks just like new. If you want professional work done call them! Very happy with the work!

My dining room table had a deep scratch that I believed was not repairable. When John brought it back, I could not believe my eyes--the scratch was entirely gone and the table looked like new. We had several pieces of antique furniture damaged in a recent move. Most of the pieces were at least 75 years old and built by craftsmen in our families. Capital Restorations did an excellent job repairing the damage such that it is no longer detectable. The pieces they refinished were done by bringing back the natural wood rather than staining. John refinished my grandmothers beautiful solid maple hutch, which was built sometime between the 40s and 50s. The finish was dull, sticky, and badly degraded. He did an amazing job matching the original color with a finish that really brought out the beauty of the wood grain. It had lots of dings and scrapes, even chunks missing from the base. Somehow he managed to make all of it disappear! He even repainted all the hardware. I was really impressed with his attention to detail. He even reglued a loose panel in my grandmothers dresser at no charge when I asked his opinion about repairing it. I compared three quotes from refinishers in the Triangle Area and Capital Restoration was very reasonably priced. And, John was the only person who correctly identified the type of wood it was made of. I liked that I got to actually meet the individual person who was working on my piece. I highly recommend Capital Restoration for furniture refinishing.

I recently moved houses in the area. The moving company damaged a few pieces as one would generally expect. I wasnt going to have the pieces repaired because some of the wood furniture was dented, etc, that I didnt think someone would be able to easily fix. Well, John came out and fixed the dents and scratches way better than I would have expected. And since he was at my house, I had him look at some dinning room chairs that Ive had for a while that had loose legs and were no longer sturdy. Based on how good of a job he did with the house move repairs, I went ahead and had him load up my 6 chairs in his van to have him fix those for me as well. I got them back a few weeks later and everything is now sturdy and working well.
