Im a little surprised to see this storefront still up on the web. I would have thought that lack of order fulfillment would have caught up with Mr Brown by now. After reading the too good to be true, gushing reviews of how they are saving the world through fishing, I was hooked! Bought a few knick knacks off the website totaling around $75 with the intention of supporting a really neat business model. Never heard a peep from them regarding actually sending me something for my money.Maybe Mr. Brown should go into PR or website design? Both fields in which he seems to do great work. Online retail........ not so much.

I read about your project in a magazine today about veterans and kids fly fishing. Wonderful. I am moved and grateful for your vision. I was a single mom with a son for most of my life. I would take him and 4-8 of his friends on outdoor adventures fly fishing, whitewater rafting, skiing, hiking etc. So much joy watching their happy faces. You make the world a better place.Cheers, Ruby

Soul River is great company with an incredible mission behind it. The store front has some incredible, locally hand-crafted products with an artisan feel to it. What people need to keep in mind is that this is truly a ONE man show. There are times where the ball may get dropped but at the end of the day (or week) you will get your items and youll be proud that you supported such a meaningful mission. Soul River is very busy keeping up with local community relationships, local and national partnerships, and their own events. I would suggest calling first to confirm they are open as it can sometimes be hit or miss (hence the one-man-show comment.) This store is making huge waves - not just in the fly fishing industry, but in the community! Join the mission...they need all the support (purchases, financial gifts, volunteerism, or item donations) they can get!

Soul River has a fine selection of essential fly fishing gear and lots of great gift items for your friends and family that are either fly fishers or just love the outdoors and nature. On top of the cool store Soul River Inc. is also spearheading a movement to get youth and veterans into fly fishing and out on the rivers, which is pioneering and just plain awesome!

Absolutely the worst business experience Ive ever had in my life. The owner bought 10 wooden fly boxes from me, I knew I wasnt going to make much money but I was encouraged by the owners background and goals with helping Vets and inner city youth, so I made the mistake of sending him the boxes without a contract in hand, thats on me. We rushed the process to try and meet the holiday rush so I took his word on good faith that he would follow through with his promises. I put a lot of time and effort into building the boxes and up until the point that he received the boxes the communication was great on his end. He was always reachable and was involved with the design process. He even made a Vet profile for me on his website highlighting my time in the service. He had verbally agreed to pay for the boxes and after he received them communication went dark. After a month I hadnt received any money for him and he became increasingly difficult to reach. When I finally did, he said that there was a miscommunication and that he normally worked on consignment. This was a crummy deal for me, but reluctantly I agreed and he promised to get me a sales contract. In that time he also informed me that he had sold 2 boxes and owed me a check that we would promptly mail out. Two months went by, no contract, no paycheck, just a lot of excuses about him being too busy, though I saw him on Facebook pretty much every night. More than 3 months went by with a lot of emails and broken promises and I finally got a check for the two that sold. By this point I was done with Soul River and just wanted my boxes back that I spent a lot of time making. It took another 3 weeks to get those back and when I did they were scratched up because he didnt bother to take 2 minutes to wrap the boxes up before shipping them. To make things even worse, the only thing I got in return was a pseudo threat telling me that the logo I put on the boxes for him is his intellectual property and I need to remove them. The complete lack of regard for me was absolutely mind blowing, Ive ever experienced anything like this in my life. It was a huge bummer because I truly wanted to believe in what he was doing to help the veteran community. The worst part about this that a friend of mine is actively involved with the Vet program, I never told how terrible this experience had been as I didnt want him to be deterred from helping with the kids and vets as hes one of the best coaches Ive ever met and I know that hell actually make a difference in a lot of peoples lives.

I encourage you to ignore the facade and make contact with this company before you spend a penny, or worse try to book an outing. I placed an order and got nothing, except charged for the merchandise. Even a one man show should be able to put stuff in a box and ship it. I’ve called, texted, emailed and stopped by the shop and not once got an answer or reply, but rest assured you can donate or pay for something with ease. I know, I did, and I’ve still heard nothing in almost three months. Hope this helps to avoid a bit of disappointment for someone.
