They carry a wide range of journals, blank and not, in a just as wide range of sizes and papers, with a small selection of loose handmade papers.Travelers journals are well-represented, especially the Travelers Factory brand, for both Standard and Pocket.Calendars are available as both bound and desk, with a definite whimsical touch for desk style.Pens are mostly limited to fountain pens although there is a small offering of other types. Inks available in bottle and cartridge.A minuscule selection of washi tape and paperclips is available but go elsewhere if that is what is desired.Prices are somewhat high but not outrageous, especially given the quality.The store itself is small and a little crowded, although everything is neatly laid out and organized.They do do custom printing, with an impact printer. Perfect for invitations, business cards and announcements as the samples displayed were beautifully done as were the greeting cards for purchase.

This is the cutest stationary store I have visited! There are cards made for any occasion. They have journal accessories, stickers, little things for the home, high quality pens etc. I just picked up some Christmas cards to send out this year! I will definitely be back!

Oblation knocked our wedding invitations out of the park. The process itself was fun and they were able to tackle any request. As a Graphic Designer, it was super easy to create a layout and design that they then created perfectly. The quality of our final invitation was amazing and is a element of our wedding that we will truly cherish.

Sweet wrapping paper and grown-up party favors. I think about Oblation once a day. I would make it a stop for tourists. Never enough.

Oblation is a heaven for paper lovers. Lots of cards, for every occasion you can think of and there are plenty of styles to choose from; Oblations own brand also makes some really cool note cards. Also available in the store: papers, prints, cahiers, stationery, souvenirs. I believe they also make customized stuff too at least pre-covid. Staff is super nice, I always have a good shopping experience here.

I subscribe to Oblations monthly card box and WOW do I love it! It is hard to find non-hallmark cards online and Oblation has the most wonderful letterpress cards. Their beautifully curated pack, sent out monthly with stamps and a lovely little gift in each box, is always such a happy surprise when it arrives. I now have a great stash of cool card choices when I want to send out some snail mail, which I love doing...Definitely worth the very modest subscription cost!

I am a business customer of Oblation Papers & Press. I recently had a favorite client who was looking for wedding invitations for her daughter, using handmade paper. We needed the handmade paper a specific size to fit into a custom inner envelope. I called Oblation in a panic, and Kathryn guided me with aplomb. She mailed me pertinent samples and quoted a custom job that went off without a hitch. The order arrived and is magnificent. The paper is artistic and so luxurious. They debossed a logo we supplied, and the letterpress printing is magical. I had a very specific need and Oblation filled it, and was so pleasant and helpful throughout the entire process. I cannot say enough nice things about this company and their attention to detail. I will share a photo when the event is over.

I love this stationer. Although I live in San Francisco, I have family in the PDX area and we visit frequently; on every trip, a visit to Oblation is essential and I always find beautiful cards, stationery, pens, and other sundries to support my postal habit.I am particularly enamored with their Letterpress Express Monthly Subscription. Every month, I get a surprise assortment of greeting cards, including small gifts and USPS stamps to use! If youre like me, you send tons of birthday cards, thank you notes, and condolences messages. Now I never lack for the perfect card to express exactly how Im feeling.Additionally, I ordered some custom writing paper and envelopes. The consultation was easy and enjoyable. I didnt really know what I wanted, but I definitely knew what I didnt want. The staff guided me expertly through the choices, listened as I griped about small changes Id want, and then delivered a beautiful set of personalized writing papers and envelopes, packed in a box with tissue paper to protect it.Since then, Ive regularly ordered from their online store, including personalized address labels to use with my envelopes since weve moved this month. The pen and the personalized address labels arrived in under four days! I cant say enough how much I love this store and the fantastic people who work there.

I cannot rave enough about this place. I was in PDX for a wedding/pregnancy celebration and mulling over the perfect gift. Another local shop employee pointed me in the direction of Oblation, where I found insurmountable quality and quantity of unique and exquisite paper products. I explained to the Oblation employee Alecia (sp?) my vague idea of pulling together a DIY scrapbook of sorts as a gift. Not only did she show me around the store and explain each relevant product in detail while pointing out various products for price comparison, but she also provided creative feedback and ideas while listening to my needs and didnt overly upsell me on additional useless items. She went so far as to recommend that I look down the street at Blick (also a great shopping experience) so that I could save money on some parts of my project. In conclusion, I ended up buying about half my supplies at Blick and half at Oblation. Alesia carefully, beautifully, and complimentarily giftwrapped my entire days purchases, crafting the perfect gift-ready package just in time for the wedding.Yes, many of the products in this store are pricey, AND they are also locally sourced/crafted and come with an incredible customer shopping experience.

A great little shop with a large assortment of letterpress cards and stationary and journals. The find Im most excited about are their scrap packs! I got a large assortment of letterpress and handmade paper scraps that I cant wait to use in collages and pen palling. I wish more shops had scrap assortment grab bags like that.

Oblation is one of my favorite stores in Portland. I really like theyre monthy card subscription thing because it puts cool stationary into my hand every month and helps me keep in touch with my friends. I like that the cards come with stamps.

Came in looking for novice fountain pens and the staff (and some customer) were very helpful in pointing me in the right direction. Will definitely be coming back again.

I moved to the Midwest but still chose Oblation to do my wedding save-the-dates. Kathryn did a wonderful job with the design and sending me sample color inks. We keep getting compliments from our friends and family. My favorite compliment so far: “truly stunning, low tech invitation.”

Got my lovely, high-quality business cards made here during their annual letterpress sale. (Its in October, so stock up then!) They were friendly and professional and realistic about every part of the process. If you are going in for letterpress services, I recommend going on a weekday as the store gets quite busy on weekends.

I went in today have a look at the fountain pen offerings, given that Paradise Pen exists no more. Kelly helped me while I was there. She was very courteous, knowledgeable and patiently showed me every pen I wanted to see, while juggling other customers needs. She was not pushy and was excellent in her recommendations.I was allowed to dip each of the pens in ink and test them to compare. Other places I have been to have been hesitant to let me do that. I guess these pens don’t stay around for too long to be used by a variety of customer writing styles ( and be altered by them)The store has a good selection of fountain pens. I am glad that I found this store and will visit them again in the near future.

Adorable stationery shop with thoughtfully curated selection of paper, pens, notebooks, unique cards, wrapping paper and more to fill your office. Its just large enough to wander, with new delights in every cupboard and on every table.I dropped in to find a graduation gift for my sister and had kind, knowledgeable help selecting a fountain pen and ink. The woman who helped me then gift wrapped it so beautifully. It was a wonderful experience.With the selection and ambiance I could spend much more time there, and walk out with much more. Im looking forward to my next trip.

This shop is adorable! They have many unique cards and notebooks in addition to actual typewriters in the back that look (and probably are) functional antiques. Deducted a star for sub-par customer service - definitely didnt expect that after choosing to purchase items and support their business. Hoping for a better experience next time I stop in!

Ive ordered business cards from Oblation Papers & Press twice and both times my cards were delivered just as specified. My cards always get oohs and ahs! If youre looking for stationery, business cards or other printed items that stand out in a sea mass produced pieces, Oblation is the vendor you need. The beautiful craftsmanship from this shop lets you shine.

Was there for about 15-20 minutes with one other customer in the store and all three employees stayed huddled together chatting behind the counter instead of helping customers. I’m fine paying higher prices for quality. However, I expect the customer service to match the prices being asked.

You can actually see their paper being hand-made and embossed on site. Cotton and even denim fibre is used. Genuine artisan crafting.

Oblation is fantastic. First, theyve got an unbelievable inventory of creative gifts and supplies, but more impressive is their design and printing service. I used them to create fully customized wedding invitations, and they turned out wonderfully. Of note - their design staff is detailed and helpful. The service itself is not cheap, but they take *very* good care of us throughout the process. The end produce was fantastic, and they even supported us after-the-fact by providing overage once we realized we had slightly under-ordered. Seriously. These folks are great. Ill certainly return for gifts (the retail store is really neat) and any printing needs in the future. A++.

I can not recommend Oblation Papers & Press enough. Their customer service is beyond impeccable, knowledge of their products is spot on, and they all are there for you with a smile.I’ve bought 2 Fountain Pens (yes, they have an awesome FP selection for all styles and budgets) and 2 inks. They have all the big names plus a couple I haven’t heard of. Ink selection was a little on the blues and blacks (a better red/ orange/ yellow and green selection would be nice, but by no means are they limiting). They do have a nice little collection of shimmer inks, as well. The associates that helped me were extremely kind and informative and did not make you feel rushed at all. They even inked my pens in the store!

The employees in front spent a lot of time talking with each other when there were quite a few customers in the shop. Found what I was looking for (Traveller’s Notebook from the Traveller’s Company) for 30% cheaper at another shop. Oh well.—-ORIGINAL: January 2020Truly surprised at my recent experience. Came in on the late afternoon of 1/27 to look at fountain pens. I picked out a turquoise Lamy Studio for $100. I asked if they had one in black, which I preferred. They did, although that one had a medium nib, so I inquired if I could have it switched out for an EF and the girl said no, policy was that they dont do that - you have to buy the extra nib, even though I will never use the M nib. OK whatever - thats not her fault the policy is like that, although I have NEVER been to a shop that was unwilling to switch to a preferred nib before buying.Im still under budget, so I decide to spring for the extra nib anyway. She rings everything thing up and it is a full $50 more than what I was expecting. When I mentioned it to her, she said, Oh, sorry. Yeah, this one is higher. I get that some colors are more than others due to popularity, bit good customer service means being on the ball and mentioning the higher price before you ring it up. The black pen didnt have a price tag on it and she never hinted at the difference in price.So, I left without a pen, and Im not sure if I will return to Oblation, despite past purchases. The whole experience really left a bad impression on me. Oh well- I found the same pen for a cheaper price and the correct pen at another small independent retailer.

I just called to check if they had a particular envelope in stock as it was out online. The person helping me named Courtney was so patient, quick and friendly. She even offered to call another store to check if they had everything I needed there. Wedding planning can be stressful and its great when people/services are accommodating and helpful.

Highly reccomended for fountain pen needs! They have an astonishing array of vintage pens, inks and notepads. The prices are very good and the quality is excellent.Even better, their staff is familiar with their products and suitability for specific needs. They flushed my vintage pen and let me fill it with the tester ink. I will be back!

Love this place. Come from a family of writers and they live in Texas so I love getting things in here to ship to my family. I also frequent often because I fill up my Midori inserts biweekly to monthly and this place is the only place that carries all of them. :DI recently had a problem with a defected pen, the pen was defective but they replaced it quickly with a working version and now I’m loving it. Writes amazing and I’m sure this will last me awhile.

What an adorable little shop! Perfect place to pick up Christmas cards, invitations, or thank yous. A variety of items from local artists, as well as their own line made on an antique letterpress. Very nice staff, too. Obviously, be prepared for it to be on the spendy side.

I came in here today with my boyfriend and daughter to get old school stationary to write letters to each other while he is away for three months (complete with new fountain pens and ink!). The ladies here were wonderful with my child. They showed her the parakeets who have hatchling and let her color, it was definitely not the type of welcome I was expecting. I was pleasantly surprised. They were also very helpful and accommodating in helping us find the perfect ink and paper. Thank you so much!

A little higher end and intimidating, but a pretty good selection. The staff is really knowledgeable, and they have some amazing fountain pen and ink. Im definitely going again when Im in the area.

Awesome store with a great variety of stationary. One of the only places in Portland that sells fountain pens and the great staff will let you test out all of them! The only place you will need to visit for pencils, pens, letter making, Notebooks, planners and high quality paper.

Called the shop to get some guidance. After a quick greeting, I asked if she had time for a quick question, but received a very flippant no and hung up on me. Not sure if she thought I was trying to sell her something or what, but I know Ill never buy anything from this store as a results.

It was really cool to come across Oblation since finding a good place to buy quality notebooks and pens is not the easiest task anymore.Oblation stocks a good variety of both pens and notebooks, offering brands such as Lamy and Retro 51 as well as Calirefontaine, Field Notes and Rhodia. They even carry some notebooks that I was surprised to see in store such as Binderwerk, Quo Vadis, and the local Scout Books brand.While the pen selection when I went in was still low due to holiday purchasing, they normally stock quite a few options that would be desirable to many a pen geek. The Retro 51 Tornado was present, as well as the ever popular Fisher Space Pen. Lamys Safari was present as well; they even had the ball point version which surprised me.I am looking forward to paying them another visit, and recommend that you stop by as well if you are looking for quality brand writing tools.

It was one of the first places I visited in Portland and I found it adorable. Everything is beautiful in this store. They have typewriters on the door and you can write with them. It sounds kind of silly, but its a nice touch.Maybe the prices didnt fit my budget as much, but its worth at least getting to know the store.
