Stumbled upon this place while looking for fun cheese to try and Im so glad I did! The owner and staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and super helpful. I really didnt know what exact cheese I was looking for when I went in, but they walked me through different options, flavor, region, etc. and helped me pick a couple yummy cheeses to take home. Im already looking forward to going back and trying some more new, options.

Great experience. Fantastic meats and cheeses and the expertise was much appreciated! The service isn’t fast, but that’s what’s amazing. Rather than trying to get you in and out the door, you’re given a full customer service experience and you leave feeling great about the purchases you’ve just made!

Just happened by this shop when I was in the area. Everything I got, with the help of the knowledgeable staff, was phenomenal! This is such a great little shop, with an amazing selection of cheese and charcuterie, and the employees are beyond delightful.

Reasonably priced incredible cheese, knowledgeable mongers, and a good selection of nice grocery items - spreads, breads, pastas, oils. Very cute and Covid-safe, all open-air! I got a baguette and a quarter pound of ricotta for $5 - lunch deal of the century!

Tucked away in inner SE Portland this cheesemonger is a delight and a treasure.

Greg is incredibly personable and willing to help you find some hidden gems. Unpretentious but with an incredible wealth of knowledge, Cowbell makes the whole experience very easy-going. Wholesale prices mean you can get most artisanal products from the source for the same price you’d pay for lesser-quality items at your average grocer. 5-stars isn’t enough!

Cow Bell has quickly become my local providore of fine cheeses, cured meats, pasta, and other wonderful produce. Tucked away in SE Alder, its a must shopping destination.
