Not good anymore! Been going there for years and boy has it changed. Went from great food to never going there for lunch again. Beer is still good but the place has about 10 people in it or less. Lunches use to pack the house. Hardly any beer selling in the bar anymore from what I can see. Huge disappointment. At least the people who still work the floor are great.

This place is a great spot to visit for the simple fact of being Widmer Brothers home brewery. Whether or not you believe their brand has sold out or not, they were still created and grown locally in Portland. Historically important to the present reputation Portland and the state of Oregon has for excellent microbreweries. Its actually not as big as one would think coming from such a big name. Its small, yet intimate and has a lot of pictures from the beginning of the brothers ideas and first attempts. The food was good, but didnt blow me away. Yet, brewery food isnt supposed to, is it? Its not expensive and you already know the beer is great.Give it a try if youre visiting or a local! Its worth a visit.

Finally went to Widmer and I have definitely been missing out. Lots of beers to try if youre feeling up to it, and if not they have all the beers you see in the store on tap as well. The Metal as Bock doppelbock was a big surprise and I hope to get it again before they rotate in another beer.Food wise it is up to par with the other breweries with great food in the area. Lots to choose from and all if it is of a higher quality.

Great service but over priced beer and food. Similar to McMenamins, They are running on reputation not the quality of the food nor the price of their beer.I ordered a Lamb burger. It really tasted like beef. I did complain and the server did go to the manager who said it was lamb but would give me something else in its place. That was a nice offer, but I ate it. Trust me I eat a lot of lamb and beef and as stated this was not 100% lamb. I would give it a 20 % lamb and 80% beef. But the soups were fantastic, both the beer cheese and the spicy red pepper. (Which is why they did not get 2 stares, I do not plan on returning, too many other great restaurants.

This is a wonderful company that not only brews great beer but also has a wonderful heart. They donated beer to help raise money for a pit bull organization that works to find homes and fosters for a breed that is misunderstood. Thanks to their generosity the organization has been able to help its most recent acquisition of 7 pit bulls that need medical care and to get out of the cold.

My wife and I made our trip to Portland and this from what we were told was a must. Its a classic. An original. A pioneer in the craft world. Anyone whos a fan of craft beer knows the infamous Hefe. We had lunch in the bistro cafe and it was really good. We ordered a steak plate and fries. The servers were super friendly and helpful. We went in on a Monday so we figured it shouldnt have been busy. I like that it was a slower day because we got to take our time eating and sampling the beers. Got a flight of beer to warm us up for the brewery tour.I have to admit that I love history, beer, and food. You get it all here. What more can you ask for.The tour was fairly priced and it was really interesting to learn a lot of the brewing process. I learned that smaller craft breweries help each other out a lot. For example I love Kona Brewing, theyre based out of Hawaii. Yet they are integrated with other breweries so anyone can make each others beer. Better for costs, shipping, etc. I thought that was super cool. The tour ends with the tasting and man o man. I wasnt ready at all. The beers were more experimental than others especially the last one. They start you off light and move onto the heavier beers. The last one was a seasonal release that was brewed in whiskey caskets so you get the idea. I believe it was like 11% or something. At the end of the tour we went to the gift shop and they have tons of merchandise. We got a hat and shirt. Will return on our next Portland trip.

Its doesnt feel like a very safe place to be after dark especially when you are by yourself. There isnt any foot traffic from open businesses in the immediate area which means you are pretty much on your own? Widmere Brewery usually has a security guard walking around somewhere at the facility across the street though.I once witnessed what appeared to be a male and female couple harassing a drunk woman accusing them of stealing her wallet. A man who was also waiting for the max helped her stand up and called 911 for her.

We used to go here for lunch but as may people have said the food is no longer part of the Widmer .The Chicago food cart guys are nice but a bad greasy cheese burger and a small amount of frise should not be $10.00. The rest of the menu did not look great. So many Oregon bars dont want to sell food but sorry when I drink I want to eat. If you have bad food I will get beer and drinks somewhere else . Russell St BBQ is not far from here and is great.

My daughter and I have been coming here for years before Winterhawks games and has been a staple 30+ times per season. Over the last year or so they have really paired down the menu and gotten rid of some of their best fare. The remodel has left the front bar area extremely loud, and the prices have surged 30+ percent or more on food. The beer cheese soup is still second to none, and the beer is great, unfortunately its not enough to make it our full time pre-game staple anymore.

Widmer is the most well known brewery in Portland. Their Hefeweizen is served nationwide. But you will find some beers here, that you wont find in any bottle or bar. Their seasonals are usually very good. Go here Mondays for happy hour pints & food. The pretzel is quite delicious. Though they also have an extensive menu. The atmosphere could be better. Sure is rough to dine here with a vegan. Theres not an alternative patty to slide into a burger, so the vegan at the table chose the beet salad, but it was more of an appetizer size than the size of the other salads. Luckily he additionally got an appetizer to go with the salad to tide him over. The burgers that others got were sort of small, and no fries are served here, which is sort of odd for a pub.My advice...Pop a box of Boca burgers in the freezer for the vegans and put that beet salad on a bed of lettuce to help it stretch a lil farther. All restaurants close in should have a vegan back up plan. :)

I was very disappointed by my recent visit to the Widmer Bros brewery. I would not recommend this location to those patrons seeking a classic, full-service Portland brewpub experience.Once upon a time, this place had a cozy feel, comfortable seating, and a great food menu to rival any Portland brewpub. All of the pictures you see on Google Maps were taken at that time. (Months or years before the present day)Nowadays (post-remodel), you are greeted by a dark and bland interior, blazing wide-screen TVs and a very limited selection of dining options. The entire space had a damp, chlorine/pool water smell. When I ordered a sandwich from the pub snacks menu, the barkeep pulled a cold, plastic-packed sandwich from a mini-fridge behind the bar; and my friends burgers and sandwiches from the ChicagoLand food window (occupying what used to be the brewpub kitchen) tasted bland..If you like Widmer Bros beer and dont mind the sports bar atmosphere, I strongly recommend that you take advantage of their outside food allowed policy and get your grub from a different brewpub or restaurant on nearby Mississippi Avenue.

We put our cash into the payment wallet the waiter left but he wasnt around when we were ready to leave, so we handed it to a different waiter who said she would give it to him. We were just pulling away from our parking place and he came running out asking where the payment was! If we were going to stiff him, we would leave the payment wallet empty on the table. I took a brewery tour here during Zwicklmania one year. I was greeted by one of the Widmer brothers himself and became a little starstruck. They provided you with a complimentary tasting glass. You were lead from room to room learning how their beers were brewed (interesting fact they pump the beer across the street underground to complete some of the brewing process). They provided samples in each room that were paired with food from their pub across the street. The Widmer Hefewiezen is a staple of Oregon summers. It isnt summer until you lay in the sun and drink a hefe with a lemon.
