Coffee is my co-pilot.No, really.It is more than just a beverage used to prop up my heavy eyelids and scrape my parts into human form to survive the harsh headwinds of this predatory year.Coffee is my deep delight.Water Street is a standout. The large location in Portage at Centre and Shaver Road is the best of the three locations I have had a cuppa at two other locations. What sets this location apart is the lovely patio with lots of outdoor seting and the bright, large double level dining are. There is a ton of natural light an abundance of seating.The coffee is so-so good. they offer many different beans for the daily drip coffee served-some of the varietals are very uncommon and rarely seen offered on coffehouse menus. The brew strength is exactly right-full, robust without any bitterness.They offer a wide range of local/homemade pastries/sandwiches/cookies/small lunch bites and breakfast wraps/burritos. The ones I have tried are as very tasty.They are a bit pricey compared to some of the other local coffee joints, but they are also far better than most, far at the top of my Kalamazoo caffeine list.See you there in the morning, bright and early. Im already dreaming of that steaming first cup o the day.

I was just passing through town and wanted a coffee. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful! I got a latte with sugar free vanilla syrup and it was delicious. They offered a variety of sandwiches/wraps and muffins as well.The space was also beautiful and had plenty of seating.

Local coffee shop that also serves some food and plenty of baked goods. I frequently come to this location and the service is consistently excellent. Whether dining in, taking to go, or going through the DT, the staff are always friendly and quick. Prices are fair compared to other coffee shops, and they have a loyalty program so every few trips you usually end up with some rewards. Ive never had anything here I didnt enjoy, and every month they also support a locally charity, so that makes stopping here even better.

This is 100% my favorite place to grab breakfast/lunch. I typically get the vegan sweet potato/black bean burrito but they have the new Naan breakfast sandwich & it is incredible. the curry hand pies are also amazing. loveeee this place !!

I adore their coffee and vegan options (Im allergic to dairy and eggs.) We purchase their bags of coffee regularly to make at home. Some of my absolute favorite.The owner is quite genial and he knows how to make delightful cuisine, clearly.The only caveat is they can run out of vegan options too quickly, depending on when we visit.

When I am in the Kazoo / Portage area I always stop in. Their food is excellent and so is the coffee. Good reliable Internet makes working here as a satellite office a dream too. Highly recommended.

Awesome local business. You can smell the fresh roasted coffee even from the drive thru!! Inside the smell is even better. They even have craft beer and cold drinks in the cold case. I am always down with supporting locsl businesses. I love this one. I am addicted to their iced coffee on these hot, humid summer days. And wait for it.......COFFEE CUBES!!!!! No more watered down iced coffee!!! Mind=BLOWN!!!

Ive been here three times and have always been impressed with the food and coffee quality.

Usually have decent experiences here, but yesterday the girl behind the counter misunderstood me through my mask. She then proceeded to completely ignore me, take over 10 minutes on my drink and then just set it on the counter where I couldnt reach it to make me wait longer. By the time I got it, the drink was lukewarm and poorly made. I even tried to thank her on my way out and she turned around and walked away without answering. Very unfortunate. EDIT: after seeng the response to my review I reached out as requested, but never heard back. Very disappointing!

The staff was friendly. However, the food and drinks are overpriced. I would gladly pay the price, though, if it was worth it. I ordered a mocha with an extra shot of espresso. It tasted weak even with the extra shot. What would it taste like without the add, water?

Great place for coffee and they also have nice cakes and pastries.Currently the inside looks a little empty because of the 25% rule.

There is one woman who works there who has repeatedly been outwardly rude to me. This was all after I had to have the same drink corrected on several different occasions. She acted like it was my fault the drink didn’t have the topping it says it comes with or like I was a burden to her. I was always pleasant, said hello, please, and thank you. She never apologized and would correct it with pure attitude. I have had enough. Called a manager and will not be returning.

Everythings delicious and everyone who works here are very kind and awesome at their jobs!

Great coffee and food

This place is always great, really friendly staff and they have amazing pour overs. I stop here every time I’m in southern Michigan. The Affagatto and Dulce De Leche are my favorite drinks, but you really can’t go wrong here. They also have food and coffee brewing equipment for sale.

They messed up my drink size, then when I told them I ordered a large instead of a small, they gave me a watered down drink. They are over priced on everything including their food (kid sized portions for adult prices). I was not offered a reciept for my order either. Have to wonder who else is getting ripped off here. I am never going here again.

Drivethru and good quality ingredients. I love their iced black tea.

First time and they were very kind and made an amazing oat milk latte.

The coffee was delicious and priced similar to other quick coffee places that dont have nearly the same quality of coffee. The atmosphere is great for studying, meetings, and just time away.

Water Street Coffee Joint is one of my best coffee shops . A nice ,cosy atmosphere where I can relax after a hard workday and being an ideal place for my study

I frequent this coffee shop on a regular basis and am always so impressed. Being a work-from-home entrepreneur it’s nice to get outside the house sometimes and this is my go-to place! The staff is friendly, environment is welcoming and the aesthetic and vibe are exactly what I’m looking for in a coffee shop and office away from home. I highly recommend Waterstreet Coffee!

They place is super nice and have alot of unique options to choose from. The one major complaint I do have is how expensive almost everything is there. However, the overall place is very warm and inviting. It encourages you to want to stick around or have meetings or small inmate gatherings with friends. Versus some other coffee shops leave a lot of wide open space that makes the place feel cold with complementing hard chairs to really add the vibe of the place.

Love waterstreet, sad they took the dill scone sandwich off the menu. Today they forgot the fruit cup again and turns out they didn’t even have any BUT the young sweet girl working was such a doll and really genuinely apologized and made it right. Thanks girl:)

Friendly and clean. Enjoyed sitting by the fire place in a nice cushioned arm chair. The chai tea was yum.

I always have great service here, great food here, and great drinks here. The indoor and outdoor seating is abundant, and the spaces are neat. I recommend the Italian sodas.

Great espresso and the breakfast sandwich was really good. Customer service was really good as well. The seating area looked really cool. I could see myself hanging out there if I was local.

Some of their employees have had snobby attitudes in the past if you have questions (apparently some people thing you need to be completely coffee fluent before entering their domain). Today the girl that helped me was extremely friendly even though I had questions about the tea. She gave me extra honey to go and a cup for my tea bag when it was done steeping. It’s the little things that make great customer service.

Love Water Street. They are always happy to help and dont mind giving hot water if I bring tea bags.

This place is great! The sleeping bear mocha coffee was excellent!! The amazing chocolate bar was okay. The open mic was awesome! I highly recommend this place.

Im absolutely in love with this place! Tons of seating, very tasteful, eclectic decor, wonderful coffee, great atmosphere..and might I add, PLENTY OF OUTLETS. All this is summed up to a great coffee-house experience. My new spot!!

OMG! We want one of these in South Bend Indiana!! Store laid out perfectly. I got the Guatemala roast. SOOOO GOOD. Husband has Midnight Oil. WOW! They also serve food, beers, wine and cocktails. We will be back!

Great coffee!

Water Street has always been my go-to for studying, coffee, and allergy-friendly snacks. Lately there seems to be a trend toward spicy food and less concern for allergens. I am disappointed, to say the least.

Great coffee the way I like!!

I love this coffee shop. The baristas are very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is cozy and provides a good place to work, and they have a half-off student discount on mondays which is amazing. The sleeping bear mocha is especially delicious.

Good coffee. The mocha del sol is unlike no other. Im addicted. Only issues I have is they dont provide a nutrition source. Also this location the staff is unfriendly!!

The coffee is roasted in kzoo and the drinks are always good! They know how to make the drinks that they sell and have wonderful customer service. There is usually a place to sit inside, but the patio area is really pretty.

Water street is my favorite coffee place in the area. They have delicious food, great service, and the place is suitable for studying. Especially this location, plenty of room and quiet.

I really love the atmosphere and design of this coffee shop and it is conveniently located up the road from me. The drink menu and food options are fantastic, however I seem to get very ill every time I eat there. An obvious food-induced stomach nausea/pain that lingers all day long. This has happened to me 3 times at this location, and I cant tell if its just me or the food. Ill just stick to getting tea here for now.

I enjoy the Portage WSCJ a lot even though it’s a bit out of the way for me living in Kalamazoo. It’s definitely the chill sibling of the WSCJ family. It’s the biggest location, has some cool retro design in the layout and there is always room to sit and work. I’ll often drive down to Portage to ensure I have a place to sit when I’m visiting a Water St location. Staff is friendly and I also love that they are the only location that has a “slow bar” for pour over options (Hario and Chemex).

The staff is very friendly. The lemon bar was amazing. My only complaint was it took a while to get my drink. Overall very pleased.

Waterstreet coffee is a staple of the Kalamazoo region, a must try for any coffee lover. This shop has a great atmosphere for reading or studying, with lots of seating indoors or out. The Egg, Bacon, Cheddar Biscuit is great with a morning coffee!

My new favorite place! There is tons of seating for a coffee shop and is great for studying. Coffee is a little pricey but delicious, and the food was great and well priced.

The first time I went there I asked for advice on what was good and was recommended the Matcha Tea, hot I tried it, loved it, and today was the fourth day getting one to-go and my dog always tries to steal it, hes a picky pup and he begs for my matcha tea haha. After Im done I let him lick out the cup and looks like we both found an item off the menu we love! Photos posted 🐕😂😍

Very neat and modern coffee shop. While I didnt particularly like my coffee choice (because I dont like black coffee) it was a pleasant experience. They have WiFi too in case you need to stay and work a while.

Coffee was fine and so was staff but prices were a bit higher than expected.

Its a nice place with nice people. The coffee I just dont like at all. I ordered an iced coffee and I was kind of expecting it to be bad so i wasnt to mad when it was. I asked for cream and they handed me a cup of cold coffee and ice! I wasent too surprised but cmon how hard is it to add some cream and sugar. The staff is nicr and its not there fault but im not a fan of thr coffee. Its pretty there and very welcoming but i wont buy again. It really depends on what type of coffee you like as well. I like Starbucks coffee for an example of youd like to compare

Kinda pricey but great coffee and atmosphere

The coffee is delicious, but it’s extremely expensive for the tiny cups they provide. I ordered a large, iced, chai tea latte and the cup is only about 5 inches tall. I will go to Bigby from now on. You get way more for your buck!

The value wasnt the best - we only ordered drinks but found that for what we got, they were too expensive. Further, the chai latte seemed to mostly be made out of water.The space and atmosphere was great, though.

I was blown away by how much space they had! I was working remotely and didnt feel like rubbing elbows with the half dozen other patrons that most shops max out at. The wifi was stellar, the spaciousness was amazing, and the dirty Chai was the icing on the cake!

Hey,so I am all for organically grown and produced coffee and other hippie stuff. I like Water Street coffee and not only buy it and brag about it ... but also promote it. I like what Water Street is trying to do. That being said, at $4.50+ for a medium cafe-au-lait, ... which is in my opinion, borderline robbery, you Water Street Coffee has the balls to add a TIP menu when you pay for a drink. I think I am already tipping 30-40% when I buy their products. Having the TIP screen is a marketing feel guilty strategy which I dont appreciate. Take it out!!!

Just went here for the second time, both times have been bad experiences. Today I ordered a Spanish breakfast bun and the bun is doughy and undercooked. Also, Im not sure the meat inside is all the way cooked. If you go to water street please go to the one downtown. They actually cook their food there. If I get sick from the meat Ill be calling.
