Bought a couple figures from this place at Anime Midwest 2021. One figure came with a manufacturer error. Reached out to them and within 3 days they were apologetic and understanding and replaced my figure no problem. They even gave me a coupon for the next time. This is a hidden gem in Illinois and Chicagoland area. Not only was the owner super chill but the store itself is high quality. They display their products in glass display cases and shelves with clear labels and prices. And if they don’t the staff is highly enthusiastic and willing to help. Some other reviewers state they didn’t like how the staff hovered. Personally for me, I only had about one or two members come up and ask me if I needed anything from the shelves. I would only consider this to be great customer service. I also love that they clearly are anime lovers themselves. Some figures that are higher end I would say may be $20-30 over priced but if you take into consideration how most of these figures you have to pay for import shipping if you were to online shop, it basically evens out overall. For right in your face figure shopping with guaranteed authenticity (which is not typical in my opinion) it’s pretty awesome. I have been an anime figure collector for 5+ years living in Chicago and I can say whole heartedly I have never been to a anime shop quite like this in the city/suburbs. They absolutely outdo TooCool. Purple Plum will be seeing more of me in the future. I will never not take the 40 minute drive to get quality fair prices on figures with excellent service.

The sales people here hawk a little too aggressively for my liking. I understand they have to turn a profit but giving customers some room to breathe is also important. The place is really nice and a good place to buy figures. Some are overpriced and some are underpriced but most are around what market would be. Definitely a varied selection of stuff too. Other customers were extremely nice and chill as well, so Id say around 4/5 stars altogether.

Met some amazing people there. The pieces they had were also very unique and interesting. Felt like home once I started talking to all the staff. Cultured and respectful. Will be coming there almost every weekend just to have a good time and most likely spend a check.

Very friendly, helpful! If your unable to find something in their store, they have a computer there with their list of products from their warehouse in the back. Very comfy environment for anime fans. Also! If youre looking for blind box figures and want a particular one they have them displayed and get to pick what you want :D

Me and my girlfriend definitely found a lot of cool stuff, I wish I had more money to burn. But what we did end up getting was also enjoyable, couple of model kits for me, plushies and a onesie for her. Will definitely go back again to hopefully get my hands on what I couldnt grab earlier on today.

I love this place so much and it would have been 5 stars if not for all the overly energetic people inside hogging each area, leaving there merchandise on the ground in front of areas, and in the way in general. I understand you can be excited but I don’t appreciate the staff allowing people to be like that knowing the store is small makes me not want to keep coming if big crowds of people keep making the experience not enjoyable.

If you are an anime lover this is the store for you. Their action figures look amazing. They can be a little pricey but it all depends on the size you get. They also have little trinkets like keychains, wallets, magnets, plush toys, t-shirts, lanyards, bags and much more. This store is a must

Pretty small anime store with very friendly staff just having a good time while working there! Theyve got a big selection despite the small space they have to where youll walk the same areas a couple of times and find something new. Tons of Keychains of various sizes for the most part sorted by series, from the bigwigs of pokemon to smaller lesser known ones like ichigo mashimaro. Blind boxes, a corner of a multitude of plushies, display case with several Anime figures! Said they carry cosplay items as well but I only saw wigs and the AOT survey corps cape everyone and their grandmother already has (website has significantly more cosplay items!) Prices are not bad at all, items arent as bumped up as Too Cool has them but the more popular the series the ever so slightly more pricey the items are (except the small amount of gunpla, that was just more overall :/). Not from the area but will definitely return!

Went here back at the beginning of august. staff was very nice and helpful, they had a good selection of items with reasonable pricing. me and my sister ended up spending over $600 but it was definitely worth it. we plan on coming back sometime soon!

I went here right after Christmas in 2019. It was SO cool there!! Since i wasnt such a anime lover that i am now, it was kinda pricey to me, but now that i look back its actually affordable!! Figures go around to $20-$100, or more, it depends what figure it is and how rare. also the plushies, key chains, blankets, Nesoberis, and cosplay wigs are so affordable and cute!! always have good deals, and nice staff!! theirs so much to choose from and i am planning to go back next weekend!!! Thanks for making a store where all of us anime lovers can go to!! :)

I love this place!! Its my home away from home. Always excited to go. Me and my friends live about 2 hours a way and we frequently make trips to go to this store because it’s one of, if not THE best anime store in Illinois. They’ve got an amazing selection of products ranging from Typical merchandise to prize figures and an enormous verity of scale figures (my favorite)! The staff there are incredibly friendly and helpful always assisting in our difficult decisions on what Waifu we will take home next. Sometimes we spend an hour or more in the store just discussing our trash taste with the staff! ^•^ it’s so much fun!! Always worth the drive. Love you guys hope you see this! UwU -Phil

The selection is pretty good for the type of merchandise they have. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. On my last visit one of the employees was a bit over barring and I felt he thought I was trying to steal. Also the prices are a bit high. I understand the convenience of no shipping, but for those who know where to shop many of the prices before tax are quite a bit higher than getting them online with shipping and tax. I like that there is this type of store around. You dont really have a chance to see a lot of what youre ordering in person especially with this niche type of merchandise. That and it is nice to be able to pick something up and not have to wait for shipping. If only I the prices were more competitive.

I wish I had better things to say about this store, as soon a I walked in I felt very unwelcomed. One of the employees would follow me around thinking I was trying to steal and I just felt his eyes on me the entire time, I couldn’t even look around comfortably. Not a good experience for me

BUYER BEWARE: As stated by several reviewers, the prices at this store are TOO HIGH. I understand the whole trying to make a profit concept , but there is no reason to charge 300+ dollars for figures that you can get elsewhere (directly from supplier sites) for under 150. While I was excited to see these things with my own eyes, I was immediately disappointed knowing I would never actually be able to get anything from that store and would have to order online from other retailers.That being said, not everything in there is crazy overpriced. Some things are priced okay, but I strongly recommend that you bring more money than you think you need.The staff was very friendly and they definitely had a much larger selection than other stores Ive been to, so thats a plus. They also have a computer for you to locate more of their stock, as they cant fit all their inventory out on the floor.I do wish this store was located in a better place. Its tucked away and hidden in an industrial area, and that nearly made me turn around and go back home, as I believed the store was not actually where it said it was.In the end, it was but also wasnt worth driving two hours to get there. I didnt leave empty handed, but I do wish I could have purchased more.I would also like to add that I have been an avid figure collector for over ten years and am very knowledgeable on suppliers, distributors, makers, sculptors, and the like. I can spot a counterfeit immediately. If you are really questioning authenticity, yes this shop is on the mark. However, once again, pricing is questionable on most (not all) of the merchandise. Please do your research on sites like Tokyo Otaku Mode, Goodsmile Company, Kotobukia, and RightStufAnime before making a costly decision.

Even if the item youre looking for is not on their sale floor it will be in the back and sweet thing is that they have their computer setup so that YOU not the but that YOU can look into their database and find what you want.....I have been to many anime store and yet not like this one woohoo Purple Palm.....keep up the great work guys
