Had to cancel my order after I watched one of the cooks wipe the sweat off of his forehead, adjust his mask several times and proceed to handle the food with his bare hands. He never washed his hands, not even after preparing multiple orders. Beyond concerns of sanitation and cross-contamination; they hardly had any fresh pastries. You could tell that theyre refrigerated display was broken. I dont understand how theyre in operation. I try to support small businesses; especially those ran by POCs, but theyre going to make someone sick.

I got two items delivered with Uber eats. The croissant with egg and cheese. The croissant itself was delicious. But the eggs were microwaved and appeared grey in color. I also ordered a sesame bagel with flavored cream cheese. Instead of that they delivered a bagel with cream cheese and jelly. Maybe in person it is better.

This bakery warms my soul. From the friendly and warm service to the fresh baked pastries and hand crafted lattes. The staff really bring their best. You can absolutely feel the passion. I’m obsessed with this bakery even more so with their blueberry lemon scones.

I needed 3 dozen lemon bars for an event, with only 24 hours notice. Not only did Sweet Bar bakery come through, the lemon bars were perfect! Tart, tangy, delicious, topped with two blueberries each. Thank you Sweet Bar!

I had a roasted chicken salad which came as a sandwich 🤷🏽‍♀️ but it was delish! We also had the bagel with eggs and bacon etc superb! Service great. Restaurant spacious but cozy, good for kids, couples, to study, staff is great!

Ive stopped by a time or two over the past few years and always had a generally pleasant time although, in my memory, Sweet Bar has always seemed to be a bit too busy and bustling.On my latest visit, I found the general ambiance to be noticeably more calm and the staff genuinely affable.The slower, more relaxed experience I encountered this last time probably is attributable to the incremental return of public activity during this Great Covid Reopening.So, while i appreciated this one opportunity to take time to placidly sit and enjoy coffee and a bagel at Sweet Bar, I wish this estimable business a complete return to its accustomed pace-- and if its a bit too busy for me the next time I drop in, I will not be mad at them.

Thai tea is delicious. Staff is friendly. Clean place with lots of room to spread out. Will go again

This place is aggressively mediocre with regards to food/drinks and the atmosphere/cafe itself (the espresso-based drinks in particular is pretty bad, and with Red Bay and Starbucks both less than a block away youve got options for both coffee snobs and basic bros just a few steps outside).Service is really hit or miss depending on whos working and whos there - I live right across the street and after walking in and straight up to the pickup section of the counter just for the owner to sit there talking to someone and ignore me for the third time in a row I decided to just start going elsewhere.There are plenty of options in this part of town - I would highly recommend Koffee Cup just on the other side of the block which has great Korean, American, and fusion foods; or Firebrand which is right next door and offers a drastically higher quality of baked goods for about the same price.

This place is amazing!! They have the BEST fresh bagels and pastries as well as amazing coffee sustainably sourced from coffee farmers and roasted in house on a Bellweather roaster. I bought 10 pounds of 3 different kinds of coffee for my family as gifts and they love it. I usually buy 7-10 bagles at a time to last over a week. Try the Jalepano infused cheese bagel

My family has been coming here once a week, every week since early 2019 when I first moved to Oakland. What a gem! Not only do they have a wonderful, tasty selection of fresh pastries daily, but their service is kind, quick, and positive every day Im here. I will continue to come here with my family every weekend to support such a wonderful, local bakery in the heart of Oakland. Get their Croissants, but please save a chocolate croissant for us!

Ill start my review by saying Im vegan and it is pretty hard to find vegan butter or vegan cream cheese at any bakery. I normally just ask for a toasted bread item and I always get a funny look like really? You just want it toasted? BUT Sweet Bar Bakery has Tofutti Cream Cheese! AND they have different flavors that they make in the bakery by adding fresh ingredients like sun-dried tomatoes or jalapenos! The service was great, too!

Every time I come the service and quality of the bagels are getting more low. The bagels don’t taste fresh like they used too. Now the last time I come they were sold out of all my favorites. This used to be my favorite bagel spot and I’ve given this place 3 more chances. Either the bagel isn’t fresh or they don’t have any and it won’t even be noon yet. You close at 3 how are you already out. Hope they start working on quality again and having more supply.

Lately every time I come, the bagel tastes old like from the day before instead of being freshly made. And now the last time I came they were sold out of 3 kinds of bagels, trying to give me the display ones and it was only 10 AM. I hope they start to work on better quality and service soon because this place is not how it used to be.

This is a super cute shop! They sell many flours of cupcakes. The banana pudding here is very famous while I prefer the one with chocolate. Much tasty I think. And you can book birthday cake here. Very pretty.

Went there on a whim. Got the fertitta and it was decent. I sat and read and the environment was good for that. Coffee was decent also. The dine in cup was tiny, but free refills. Big plus, for me, was that they had heavy cream for my coffee. Staff was friendly. Ill go back if in the area again.

The coffee was amazing and the pastries were delicious! The person over the counter was very kind as well.

This is my go-to for croissants. When I left SF, I was worried I wouldnt be able to find an awesome croissant within walking distance of my new place. But I was wrong. The croissant au beurre and pain au chocolat are amazing. The dough is properly laminated, with flaky, airy, and buttery layers without becoming bread. They are wonderfully moist and pack a lot of flavor. They only make a few pain au chocolat a day, so go early if you want one.

Sandwiches can be made gluten free too, and they serve it in their gluten free focaccia, which is super yummy. The Tuna Melt sandwich is awesome, super stuffed and very filling. They usually have a chocolate dipped peanut butter cupcake that is heaven made cupcake, and their cappuccino is great too!

Quiet and comfortable cafe, perfect to get some studying done. I had the vegan berry crumble and rose cardamom late. They were both extremely yummy! Will be back!

Disabled accessable heaven! Good perfect coffee off the hook but wheelchairs can get EVERYWHERE! Bathrooms spacious with door clearance. Its like they talked to disabled people! Oh order the vanilla latte its a toasted caffeinated marshmallow

When I went here, I ate the best croissant I have eaten in the US. Buttery, flaky, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Coffee was very good too. I wish I lived nearby because I would like to go there often and support this great business!

Super nice staff! We accidentally came in right before they closed but they helped us and still made us a hot sandwich. Delicious food and desserts!

They told my disabled friend to be quiet and we had to leave. My friend makes small occasional blurt noises and is obviously disabled. We always had tea at Sweet Bar on Mondays and the Workers there were kind to us. The boss/owner definately discriminated against a person with disabilities. It is illegal and was embarrassing. I had to pass this experience on.

My friend was retiring and I needed to get a cake. I came by this place to give it taste before ordering. So first time around I got a mini flour-less chocolate cake. It was pretty darn good. So after sharing that cake and getting the ok from some co-workers, I decided to go with the Chocolate Fortress. Even the name itself was something to be reckoned with. Chocolate cake, with chocolate mousse and raspberry filling topped with fresh raspberry and chocolate shards. Yes, I died and went to heaven. This cake is extremely rich and very heavy. I couldnt figure what message I wanted when I went in to order. They allowed me to call the day before pick up.This was so painless to order a cake. Now this will be my go to place in Oakland for special occasion cakes.

This is a nice, casual place for having lunch and picking up some wonderful dessert. It is small and doesnt accommodate a lot of people. But, the food is good and delicious.

Came here for lunch. The sandwich I got was really good and for dessert it was yummy. I got the chocolate covered cheesecake and it was delicious!

Even though the decor was dated, the upside down cake and the caramel chocolate cakes were masterpieces!I accidentally left the chocolate cake on my dinner table for a week once and they were unbelievably fresh even after a week! Trust me, I was about to throw it out if not for my friend.

Spent a week in Oakland and this was my favorite spot to grab a coffee every morning. The staff is super nice and its a cool cozy little spot.

First time here after passing by for many years. Ideal place for studying or having a coffee/tea with a friend. The latte was really good as the two different scones I ordered. I was not impressed with the interior and/or decoration, the space has so much potential! Finally, I felt the owner was a bit rude when he cough me looking over the pastries and his response was Whats going on? instead of: is there anything you would like order?...

Very nice folks. near the end of the day, they were still willing to part with thedemo breakfast quiche, which was delicious after they warmed it up. No complaints. Good tea, too.

10/10 would recommend the flourless chocolate cake! Im sure other baked goods are excellent here, as well. Hard to find a table with an outlet if youre trying to do work on a laptop, but otherwise the atmosphere is nice and good for chatting or working/reading.

I normally dont like to make the time to post reviews, but I felt I couldnt pass up on this one. The CBR sandwich was delicious! I also enjoyed my iced espresso latte with almond milk. If I lived in the area I would easily eat here on a regular basis. A must place to eat at!

Pretty tasty food in a convenient location. I love their brownies. Only issue in my opinion is that the price is a little steep for what you get.

If you like pretentious hippies giving you attitude when you place an order then this is the place for you. Its your typical coffee place. The pastries are really good and the food is good too but the service isnt. I was really hoping to find my new neighborhood coffee house but looks like this wasnt it.

Come for some of Oaklands best desserts and stay for the great sandwich, soup, and salad offerings. A strong beer and wine selection also helps Sweet Bar stand out as more than just a place to for sweets. Community events also offered from time-to-tome.

Incredible bagels

I felt like I finally found my community when I got here. Whoopie pies, wine, and good coffee. This is the ideal spot to hang out alone or with a friend to catch up. They even have a happy hour. This is how a bakery is done right !

Unlike many coffee shops in Oakland (and the larger Bay Area), this coffee shop has great pastries to go with its equally great coffee. The overall decor of the place is mediocre though, and they do need some AC.

Sweet Bar is such a great new fixture in the Uptown restaurant scene! Bright, airy space with super-nice staff, lots of extremely delicious sweets and sandwiches and salads as well as beer and wine on tap. Gluten-free and alternative-sweetener treats are available, try the lemon agave tart!

I love their ginger pumpkin cupcakes. The environment is also a nice spot to collaborate with coworkers. They dont just have desserts.

Everything here is so lovely... from the coffee, to the bagels, and the sweets! Cant wait to return.

This place just shot to the top of my list of favorite places for lunch in Oakland. I grabbed a Sriracha Chicken and Onion pizza there that, without exaggeration, just reset my expectations for good pizza. The staff was unbelievably attentive and outgoing even though they were slammed with a line out the door. There was such an air of quality and high standards that I want to make a point to work my way through their entire menu! This feels like the kind of place that will make you fall in love with foods or ingredients you never cared for in the past.

Wifi bakery with a hipster vibe. Great place to grab lunch with friends/colleagues or to get some work done. Delicious pastries also to impress guests or your office.

This is my favorite cafe in the neighborhood. Friendly staff, delicious sweets, and $3 refillable coffee. The wifi is consistently reliable, making it a good place to work, although electrical outlets are a little scarce. Staff is also super friendly.

All the credit in the world to Beautys but Sweet Bar has them beat on bagels.

Great vibe and wonderful place to enjoy a pastrie, salad, or sandwich and meet up with family, friends, or significant other. Spacious and comfortable. Walking distance to Bart and several bus lines as well as the Lake to take a nice stroll afterwards or before if you want to build up a appetite.

Bright and airy warehouse space in Oakland, housing a bakery/cafe which offers a variety of cookies, tarts, cupcakes, and other desserts in addition to lunch fare-- including salads, soup and sandwiches, plus coffee and tea. I was impressed by the detailed labels on each of the bakery offerings, which lists ingredients and empowers those with nut, dairy, gluten, and other such dietary concerns to make informed choices. A perfect spot to meet up with friends spanning the spectrum of consciousness in eating, minus the fuss.

I enjoy good food but cant stand poor customer service.

In Sunday afternoon, it is a nice and quiet place.

Pecan pie was so good I had to call her back after they closed just to tell her! It was so rich, succulent, and deliciously crusted, and tasted just like something Jesus himself baked:) Im hooked and will be back for more!

This is a great, neighborhood cafe / bakery / whatever. They beer and good food -- gets busy at times, but its always been good.

Soooo good. Everything is good! I love the big windows and the big table. They have wifi and so many options from different drinks, snacks, sandwiches, salads, soup, pizza, pastries, cookies, cakes, to satisfy any thirst/hunger level for all ages. The music and ambiance are cool. Clean bathrooms. Friendly, helpful, patient staff. And OMG the bread pudding! I can spend hours and hours there and its always a good day.

Good place to meet with friends, work and relax. Most excellent coffee and breakfast menu!
