Matt & Ralph along with their techs did an excellent job on my GTI.Matt as the owner; was detail-oriented going over everything with a fine tooth comb. Ralph was customer service oriented and responded quickly via text/phone. Everything was explained to you in detail and the shop was professional and clean. They are always busy as many customers are loyal and I am proud to be one of their customers. I definitely would recommend this place of business as I will also be returning. 👍

Best mechanic experience ever. I brought my 2010 Prius in for an oil change and to be checked out after a long time between services. Matt was very thorough in his explanations with me, offered me a ride to BART, and called me during the service to ask if he could do additional, necessary labor. He treated me with the utmost respect. He was very transparent in his assessment and explained things clearly. I left feeling like he was 100% with me, which goes a long way. All my cars needs will be done by Matt and his team from now on.

The worked on my Prius V to replace a head gasket. Good work and good price, completed it within the promised time and within the price quoted.

Matt saved me $200.Dealership said I needed rear brake pads and rotors and when he looked at it said my rotors were just fine.He was able to diagnose a mistake that another shop made, which had resurfaced my front rotors, which causes anow a pulsating breaking pattern... He showed me photos and went into great detail to explain why resurfacing is never a good idea and probably wasnt necessary in the first place.He will definitely have my business going forward.Dont let the neighborhood or location put you off his facility is secure. He even prioritized my car so that I could keep a flight that I had scheduled.

These guys rule! They have an office cat, theyre honest, forthright, and do a very thorough job. They even noticed some issues with the car and gave us an estimate for what it would take to fix at no extras charge. Theyre awesome, a little out of the way maybe, but the shuttle is great. I might even go back after having moved out of Alameda because of how great they are.

Matt is such an honest and helpful mechanic! I was on my way to LA, and had some car troubles so I had to get my car towed to his shop in Oakland. He showed me how to fix it temporarily, so I could drive to LA that night and get it fixed once I got home to LA. All of this without charging me anything! I even called him when I got to LA to ask what a reasonable price is to pay for the repair. Hes sincere, helpful, and I would highly recommend him!

Matt and his team serviced my vehicles for a couple years and I was highly impressed by their level of service and flexibility in getting the job done. His prices were tough to beat compared to other shops. I felt as though I understood my own vehicles decently well in terms of what caused need for repair, however, he earned my money as he knew the vehicles better than I did. He seemed to get to a repair solution on a reasonable budget and then teach me what was going on under the hood. Later I found out that he also hired high school students from local auto shops classes as shop assistance. It provided these students the opportunity to get paid for what they were going to school for and get technical mentoring in the process. Very cool.

Starting comming here when I had problem with another shop doing poor work. Matt has been nothing but helpful and is super knowledgeable. He shows us the problem, and then shows what he fixed when he was done. Pricing is fair. But service is everything and this is our go to place for our cars now. Matt and his crew are awesome! They helped me through fixing my old car with parts that werent easy to find, where the parts supplier was a bear to work with. They really went out of their way for me. Couple of bonuses -- when you call you almost always get an answer..no messages and back and forths. And, theyre small enough to provide the individual attention of a small shop but still have plenty of mechanics so work gets done quickly. Alameda Import is really great!

This shop does not work on diesels or trucks over 8000 pounds, but they do good work, including engine changes on light trucks and cars. They have a large secure lot but no night drop. They also dont expect you to wait 2 weeks to get a mechanic to look at your car.

This is possibly the WORST place under this sun. I went in today to get an oil change done. How hard is that right? Evidently VERY. They FORGOT to put the filter down on my oil change thing. And when I was driving back home my car BLEW UP. There was fire from underneath the hood. The smoke was so bad some neighbours called the cops. I had to call the fire dept to come extinguish the fire. These bloody people after 1.5 hrs realized what had happened. When I told them my car had blown up this guy Ian said he would call the owner Matt and NOBODY got back to me.4 months ago I had taken my car in for a timing belt change. Before that I NEVER EVER had an overheating problem in my car. When they were fixing my timing belt, they screwed up my fan relay. When I went to pick up my car this guy Matt asked me if I ever had an overheating issue. I said NO NEVER WHY? And he said oh its ok it happens. You can take your car back as is it wont really harm you. I insisted that he look into it. He charged me a 100$ for diagnostic which they screwed up to begin with and discovered that the fan relay was busted.I regret having gone back to them. I thought what is the worst thing that can happen. No decent half intelligent person can possibly screw up an oil change. I could not have been more wrong. My car is going to get totaled all because of these bloody stinking morons. If I could star these guys in negative I would. I am sooooo stressed out. I dont have a car now and they screwed up a PERFECTLY wonderful car.
