I retired my 2004 Honda Element and bought a new 2021 CRV! Benjamin was extremely helpful and explained everything we needed to know. From trading in to picking the right car for me, he made it easy.I was anxious about dealing with car salesmen but he was really awesome and it was truly a great experience. He kept me updated and made sure I knew what was going on. He’s friendly and very kind. He went out of his way to help me get my car on the best day for me. I’m sure I’ll be visiting for regular maintenance because they are awesome here!

Bought a car from Tony the other day and he was great. We traveled almost 5 hours to get the car we found online and Tony helped us through each step. He was able to get most of the paperwork handled ahead of time so we weren’t wasting time while at the dealer. When we got to the dealer he explained every step that was happening to ensure we had a clear understanding. I wish we lived closer because compared to other dealerships that we went to checkered flag was definitely the best.Thanks Tony!

I went in today to get my battery changed and wasnt able to get my car in since they were booked with appointments. However, I was helped by John. He walked over to parts with me, back to my car and changed the battery there in the parking lot. An act of pure kindness when they were slammed busy. Great employee and person!

Went to Checkered Flag Honda today for a state inspection and oil change. I made the appointment about 4 weeks ago. I arrived at 7:30AM the the car wasnt ready until 11:30AM, while I waited, that is a long time to have just two minor things done. The service writer also informed me that I needed several items done to keep my maintenance up to date. 1. Transmission fluid exchange, 2. brake fluid exchange and both were done on 4/1/21 at another Honda dealership. I dont think either would need changing in 5 months and 2500 miles. I was also informed that my rear brakes needed to be replaced which I thought odd since they were replaced on 11/21/2020, since then Ive only driven 4000 miles and what makes matters worse their report said my front breaks were getting low not my rear. If I agreed to have the work done would they have changed my rear brakes even though they had just been replaced? I think it is possible.In the past I have had other discrepancies in maintenance that I was told I needed which had already been done.Im not sure if their employees are incompetent or they are just trying to RIP people off but it is something that management should correct if they are indeed concerned about customer satisfaction. I personally will continue to get the free oil changes and inspections but will never have checkered flag do any other work on my vehicle, because I can not trust anything they tell me.

Went in to look at the stock. Didnt have what I wanted but Conor took us to 2 different dealerships to look at other cars. Never felt pressured, he seemed to want to help us find a car that would fit us, not to sell a car we didnt need. Made buying a car as smooth as it can get. Ask for Conor, great person!

I went to Checkered Flag Honda to buy my first vehicle. I had Scottie as my salesman. He was so helpful in my process. I bought a used 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage in great condition for a good price. The communication, patience and coordination of the purchase greatly impressed me here. Scottie even found me the lowest interest rate for my car. This company has great customer service and an amazing inventory of both new and used vehicles. I would stongly recommend anyone looking for a car in the Norfolk area to purchase from Checkered Flag.

I got the (aftermarket) Car Care Plan from Checkered Flag Honda on a newer-used (4 years old, 60K) Nissan Rogue. It cost me $800 and covers oil changes + tire rotations parts and labor plus brake clean/adjusts all the way through 120K miles. Thats 12 Synthetic 0W-20 changes which are around 70 or more dollars currently just about anywhere you go and 12 tire rotations (about 10-20 bucks). So $75 x 12 is $900 and $15 x 12 is $180. Thats $1080 of services without adjusting for inflation. It also covers replacement of electronic remote FOB and key which is $300+. So Im getting $1380 of value for $800. It was a good deal for my particular vehicle. Its easiest to redeem at the dealership chain that sold it since they just apply the plan and zero the bill out. You can go to other shops and ask them to scan the repair order and receipt and email it in with the coupon from the service book. The maintenance plan underwriter will reimburse any national ASE certified chain or dealership service center. Some are willing to do it, some arent -- thats their prerogative. Ive been happy with the plan so far after being skeptical at first. Ageroerider was the company that underwrote the plan I bought from Checkered Flag.

I have purchased 3 vehicles from Checkered Flag Honda and have always had a great experience. Their hallmark is their customer service and it has always been top notch. With getting my 3rd car from them during the chip shortage there were a few delays, but Marquis worked diligently to keep me updated on everything and went out of his way to make sure I got the car I wanted. Tony helped me to close out everything with the paperwork and Im finally in my new car! Because Ive had such great experiences with them, Checkered Flag will always be my first choice when purchasing a new vehicle.

I came in to Checkered Flag after a bad experience with Hall Honda. Right off the bat, they were friendly and welcoming, and very upfront about how they do business. Having never purchased a new vehicle before, I was very skeptical coming in, and hadnt planned on buying a car that day, until I could clear it with my financial advisor. I sat down with Josh Williams and he went through their power point, then we went through their website to go and find the car I came in looking for.I initially looked at the 2021 Honda Civic, and Josh pulled the car to the front, so we could go for a test drive. He drove first and taught me all about the safety features included in the vehicle, which I found very helpful, because they had not helped me with this at Hall. He was able to demonstrate the brake hold, ACC, and lane departure features to me.The prices on the vehicles themselves matched the prices listed on the website, which was not the case at Hall. I ended up buying the 2022 Honda Civic with a very low interest rate, for only about $200 more than the price of the 2021 Civic with less features. They stayed true to the resale value from the manufacturers, without using the chip shortage to extort more money from their clients.Even after purchasing, Josh reached out to wish me a happy birthday, and to check in with how I was liking my vehicle. 10/10 buying experience. They were also very patient with me calling my financial advisor to make sure the deal they were offering was a good deal. Couldnt recommend them enough.

I dropped my car off for an oil change and state inspection. I was informed that I failed the inspection because one of my daytime running lights wasn’t working. They then quoted me $600 to fix it, because they refused to just replace the bulb and insisted on replacing the entire headlight. I told them I would replace the bulb myself because I could not afford that. I picked my car up and none of the lights were broken as they had claimed. Both headlights were 100% functioning. I then called the manager to speak about this and she did nothing about it, and told me I clearly wasn’t seeing what broken light they were talking about and gave me the run around. I then took my car elsewhere for a safety inspection, they also confirmed that there was nothing wrong with any of the lights. I will not be returning. It’s extremely frustrating how they try to take advantage of you, lie to you, and waste your time.

I had an appointment at 830 for an oil change and I added getting a detailing assuming being her for 3-3.and half hours. But wasn’t getting an estimate and it’s now 12:30 and still haven’t heard anything when I ask someone to check in my car they said 1:30. So I have been sitting herr for 6 to 7 hours from me being here at 8 to me getting an estimate time on be done at 1:30. I purchased the car straight cash no financial plans no loans. And this is how they treat there customers!!!!! Never coming back they can keep there free oil change

I absolutely loved everything about this dealership! I had an amazing worker to help me through every single step. Sherri was the worlds greatest help with being a first time buyer. I was actually scared because I was walking into a big dealership knowing absolutely nothing about what to do or expect when making a big purchase like that.. but with Sherri’s help I was more comfortable than ever!! She never went to the back to deal with no kind of paperwork without me that would make just about anyone feel a tad bit uncomfortable knowing you’re about to spend a grip load of money. She stayed out in the lobby with my husband & i throughout the whole entire process! & she even took extra time out of her day to show me every little feature my car has that I wouldn’t have known it has if it wasn’t for her. This review relates to the Service Department, specifically, the customer service experience.I can understand paying extra for service at the dealership, as long as it is accompanied by superior customer service. Unfortunately, my last two experiences with this service department have been extremely frustrating.Last time, I had an appointment to drop off on Friday morning. They called at the end of the day and advised that they had not gotten to my car and asked if I could leave it overnight to be worked on Saturday morning. I said that was fine but that I needed it back by Noon, as I had afternoon plans. 1130am came around and I had heard nothing, so I called, only to find out that they still hadn’t started (though they apologized and said they’d get to it right away). Nevertheless, it was late and caused me to be late to afternoon engagements.This week, the tire that they had just installed less than a year ago blew out. I called to explain the situation, and the receptionist advised I didn’t need an appointment for this type of issue, and that I could bring it any time between 8-4. That’s what I did, and when I arrived, they said it would be 3-4 hours because I didn’t have an appointment. If I had needed an appt, I would have made one when I called (That’s why I called!). So, that’s a second day within a year where my day has been completely shot due to this company’s lack of organization.

We had an amazing experience with Checkered Flag Honda. We were returning from an overseas duty station and reached out before we physically arrived at to the US and Benjamin M helped us. He was so helpful and informative every step of the way. We choose our car online through their inventory, he answered all of our questions, assisted with the credit application, and assisted with the accessories that we wanted to add on. We placed a small deposit on the car to hold it. When we arrived the car was ready with all the desired accessories already installed. We did a test drive, signed our papers, and the car was ours. They really mean what they say about no hassle or haggle. Benjamin was amazing and I highly recommend him! While sitting in the lobby I overheard another sales associate say to another employee that he was on his way to “assist a guest.” What a true statement as that is precisely how they treat you, as their guest and not just a sale. What a great place to purchase from!!!

I went to Checkered Flag Honda dealership in Norfolk, VA to buy Pilot 21. Best car buying experience so far. I was helped by Carl Dyson. He was very prompt in answering all of my question on phone. I had to leave in middle of process when I went to showroom because of work. But Mr Dyson still made sure that I still get the best deal and kept the car on hold overnight. Checkered Flag has hassle free car price which I found was the best price available in 500 mile radius. Not only that, they have lifetime oil changes and state inspections. There is also 3 day car return policy which is amazing. Carl Dyson also went through all the technology and safety features of the car with patience and answered all the questions I had. They also have some add on packages based on your need which are great. Overall, I am really happy with my experience at Checkered Flag Honda and will highly recommend them if you are in market to buy Honda car.

Janell Boone!!!! I am one that hates to write and fill out surveys! But the way Janell handled her position and the amount of energy she had was astounding. She was very motivated and the crew she had working with her finished the state inspection and camera update 45 minutes faster than what was quoted. I commend her on her ability to stay focused and attentive to her customers. She definitely deserves a pay raise, if she is looking to move to a roll that has more responsibilities I believe that if she brings that energy with her she will rock it. What a wonderful car buying experience!! Customer service was top notch!! Mary Arca was our sales woman and she really took care of us. She was able to find the exact van we wanted from a nearby dealer, got it to the lot and had roof racks installed for us and had it ready for us to pick up the next day!! This is our second van purchased from Checkered flag, the first was in 2009 and we still have it and bring it to them for service. The service department is the best around, we’ve worked with Josh and David in the past and the customer service on that end of the dealership is just as good as in the sales department

I was apprehensive walking into a dealership alone to shop for a car. I worked with Carl Dyson and he was very patient and helpful. I’ve been searching since June and wasn’t sure what I was looking for exactly until he and his co-worker Tony helped me. Carl took the time to test drive three cars with me in the rain on my first visit. When I wasn’t ready he didn’t balk and just told me to take my time and keep him posted. Great customer service and followup. Was looking at a used F-150 they had in and Darrell in sales was extremely helpful. He was very professional, responsive and knowledgeable. I had questions about the service history on the vehicle and he want above and beyond and contacted the previous owner to get that information. One star because ive been coming here since I was 16 with my first car, I came in to get somethings done on my car with my check engine light on, they had my car twice in two weeks. The second time I brought it in, I picked it up at 6 at night. The check engine light came back on the next morning at 8. When I called them to let them know, Amanda the manager said let me get some more information and call you back. Hours later never called back, I called her back and her voicemail said im out of town on vacation until 7/12 , the day we talked 7/6. She was completely rude and kept talking over me. Not only did they charge me an outrages amount of money, for nothing to get fixed. If you want to get ripped off come here, if not go to a shop that actually cares how you spend your money. UPDATE : Called the person that commented on my review, and they never called me back......... Again people work hard for there money go to local small business that wont charge you an arm and a leg. UPDATE : She still never contacted me, and that’s okay reading the reviews looks like they have been ripping a lot of people off and there customer service went down a lot. There are locals people who can help you get more bang for your buck and won’t do stuff like this place will. It’s sad people are like this.

Thomas was easy to work with and didnt seem to be pushing me in any particular direction. More so guiding me to make sure I was doing what was best for me. They were very upfront with the layout of what monthly payments would be, were willing to work with me via a promissory note so I could afford to make a larger down payment on the vehicle, and made the overall process very non-stressful.

Went in for an inspection today and had Jordan as a service consultant. She failed my car because it had a tiny crack on the passenger side. I’ve had this tiny crack in my windshield for years and it’s never failed inspection, as it’s on the passenger side, is very small, and doesn’t obstruct my view. Then she proceeded to hand me a laundry list of things that she said needed to be done maintenance-wise that weren’t related to the inspection which totaled around $1700. I then requested to speak to her manager and she immediately responded, “She’s probably at lunch.” Just an all around rude vibe from her. Won’t ever come back here and will not recommend to anyone I know. I’ll just find a more legit service department, because this place is ridiculous.

Checkered Flag Honda took great care of us. Carl Dyson, who we have purchased 5 other Hondas from did a super job. My 2018 Odyssey EX-L gave my wife a problem 3 times, the last on required towing to Honda after i purchased a new battery at Advanced Auto and the car lost all power and they could not solve the problem. We, my decided she wanted a new Odyssey. We talked to Carl and he said he could help, he found a white one which was Ok but my wife wanted a Silver one to change our color. We did the paper work and left. Carl said he would try, about 4 hours after we left Checkered Flag, Carl called, said he made a exchange deal with another dealer and my wife got her Silver Odyssey. Carl Dyson has always done an outstanding job for us but this was above and beyond the requirements. He rates 10 gold stars for his performance. And to top that, A happy Wife is a Happy Life. This five star review is for Mary Arca. She hands down gave us AMAZING customer service. My boyfriend and I went in after he totaled his car. We told her exactly what we wanted and she delivered. She explained the used car shortage, and because of that we went to four different Checkered Flag locations before we found the one. She even noticed my daughter getting grumpy and hungry. So, in between one of the locations, she stopped by a drive thru to get us food. We tried to pay for it but she insisted. Needless to say, my daughter was super happy and found a new friend in Mary. After finally finding a vehicle that the wife and I really liked, we sat down to do some paperwork and the salesmen told us the vehicle price was actually 5 thousand dollars higher than what was listed on the vehicle. We wasted so much time test driving it, researching it, inspecting it, and looking at just to find out that sometimes the wrong prices get put on the vehicle. I wanted to take time and write you to let you know about two amazing individuals whom have gone above and beyond to help my family out. Jordan Molon is my service advisor at Checkered Flag Honda. We have been dealing with crazy issues with our pilots entertainment system that has put our vehicle in the shop at least 6-7 times over the past year. My family is getting ready to PCS to military due to military orders and the vehicle again had to go in. Jordan has worked tirelessly to make the process go as smooth as possible. She has responded to every message within a 4 hour time frame if not within the hour. She went above and beyond to work with her team to explore every Avenue possible even working with Honda engineers directly to attempt to fix the issues. When it was determined that my family will not have enough time to ensure the issues were resolved before PCS, she referred me to Joshua Williams in the sales department. Joshua put in countless hours attempting to get us in a vehicle of the same type and when he was unable to locate the exact match, he got with me first thing to help us find something that has been even more thrilling for us as a new purchase. Jordan and Josh collaborated seamlessly on multiple occasions as the process of making a decision on keeping our car or purchasing a new one, they made sure they collaborated to give us detailed options to be sure we were able to make the best choice for our family in a short amount of time. I truly felt they cared as much as we did about these choices we had to make in a very short time (we leave July 10th and had to ship the car before then). Then after we chose the new car, their was the question of what we could do about our tow package as we definitely need the ability to tow. Jordan was able to collaborate with the powers that be to get that cover by Honda for us at no cost since this scenario was not at fault of the customer to be sure all of our needs were met. Our new car has exceeded expectations thanks to these two and I truly felt the were in the trenches with us during this time sensitive scenario. Their urgency matched my own and I could not have been more impressed nor thankful for the help we received. If I could give them a 20 star rating, I would!

As a service advisor, i understand and comprehend that sometimes its difficult to give the customer an update by the minute, but i also know that you dont give the customer the run around, I my self work in the service department of a used car dealership my job is to advice my customers on what to do and give them truthful updates about their vehicles, therefore i think i deserve the same as a customer to this car dealership. SCOTTIE SANDERSEnough said. Never in my life have I encountered such a genuine and altruisticly-inclined individual, ESPECIALLY among Car Salesman. Scottie really went the extra MILES (Plural!). He treated our interest in buying our vehicle like it was his own, kept tabs on it in his off-time just to ensure we would be able to stay on our projected timeline. Checkered Flag Honda has ALWAYS had the best customer service! Every time I have been there, the team members have never failed to give me the best experience possible. I want to especially thank Service Consultant Josh Trost for going above and beyond during my recent oil change visit. I requested he ask the team not to vacuum a certain area of the console and he actually made a sign and placed it there to make sure it was not vacuumed as requested. Also, he noticed my inspection sticker was expiring the following month, so he found me in the waiting area and asked if I wanted to have that done while I was there. I chose to wait, but it was outstanding customer service that he took the time to ask. I think Checkered Flag Honda has a great team member with Josh Trost. It is this type of service that makes me a loyal customer and I always recommend you to my friends and family (and even strangers when the conversation goes in the car direction!). Not to mention that Honda has amazing vehicles that are extremely reliable and well built. Keep up the great work!!

This review is for their Auto Outlet next door to this location: They offer a 12-month warranty but walk away if the warranty only covers the engine and not the transmission. Six months after purchasing vehicle the transmission went out. The warranty covered the engine, but not the transmission even though there is a place on the warranty for them to have covered the transmission. My guess they did not cover it because they knew the transmission was failing. The day we purchased they relentlessly tried to get us to purchase a warranty for an additional cost. I am glad we did not because the manufacture replaced the transmission free of charge. We purchased the vehicle somewhat hastily because at the time we needed one in a hurry. Also, the boss was so nice to us every time we came into the office. Once he realized we were going to buy he acted like he did not see us. The salesperson was nice too until the day of purchase. Although still nice he also had a smart mouth with some of the comments he made to us. I would not recommend this place to anyone. We are on the verge of purchasing another car, but it will not be from this place. Auto Connect lost what could have been loyal customers.

We worked with Carl Dyson. We saw the car we wanted online and when we got to Checkered Flag Carl greeted us. He was warm and friendly, considerate and very professional. He let us take the vehicle on an extended test drive. When we did find some issues with it he worked to get them fixed and even had extra things replaced. He kept us informed the entire time. When we came back to get the vehicle he was busy with another customer and told us we could take the vehicle home overnight and come back tomorrow to finish the transaction !!! Who does that ? Everyone knows buying a new or used vehicle can be a headache! I went through my bank and truecar; suddenly any thing I checked for availability I was being texted and called all throughout the day. I came across something in my budget, good miles and the make and model I had been looking for. Phil Biever helped us look at a few different vehicles (new and used) and we couldn’t be happier with the service he provided! He was patient, knowledgeable and not pushy at all to make a sale. He walked us through financial info but never got pushy or impatient, just provided us with good, thorough info to make a sound decision. The pricing didn’t work out in the end for us. If I could give no stars I would. The customer service at this place when it comes to the service department is non existent. I was calling around Honda dealerships to make an appointment to get my car serviced due to it not accelerating when cut on when I finally got an answer from this dealership. To my relief they said because the car was not driveable I could drop it off at any time and they would take a look at it. Car was dropped off around June 11th and for a WHOLE month I either received radio silence from this place or the run around. It was always yes it will be ready and then the date they gave me would come and excuses would start as to why it’s not ready. This happened 4 times. Then to top it off after the month passed and they finally called me to tell me my car was ready not even a week and a half later I’m back at this dealership because they didn’t even put the transmission pan on correctly causing my oil to flood inside my car. So since I had already had such a bad experience the first time I walked in and requested to speak to the service department manager Amanda Hastley. After about 20 min of waiting on her she finally comes out and sits down and I tell her what happened and she LEGITIMATELY lied straight to my face saying we had met before and that we talked about why my car took so long and had a whole 20 min conversation in her office when I had never met her before my second time going into the dealership. I even told her to bring out the supposed service rep that was “present” during our previous meeting and she just dismissed me and continued being unprofessional and rude. After seeing the conversation was going no where we let them re service our vehicle and was told we would receive an update from a David. We waited 3 HOURS with no communication from David or any update what so ever. Finally I went to the pit row to get an update only to find out the car only took 20 minutes to “service” but because of the lack of communication we were there 3 hours. Definitely would not and will not recommend their service department to anyone

Just tried ordering 2 parts for my car. Since I was a new customer and used a debit card it was considered mid-risk and the order was cancelled. Extremely disappointed in this service. I’m glad others who have use these guys haven’t had the same experience. But I’m forced to go elsewhere.Update: After having to call a week later, they had the parts but didn’t send them yet because they were busy. I ended up getting 1 of 2 parts that I wanted and the second was for the wrong side of the car.Increased from a 1 to 2 star as the GM called to see why I left a low score. I told her I would update after I got the parts. If I got them on time and correct I would gladly have given a 4-5.

I had the best experience with Checkered Flag Honda. Benjamin M helped me lease my brand new Honda CR-V while I was still in California trying to figure out my cross-country move to Virginia. He bent over backwards to make sure that we completed the lease in time so that way I could pick up my new car as soon as I arrived in Virginia. With his help, I had one less thing to worry about with my move. I showed up at Checkered Flag and my new car was waiting there for me, all I had to do was pick up the keys!
