I would recommend this place to anyone!I had the best experience here. They were nice, efficient, and gave me a good deal. I didn’t feel like I was just robbed when I left. They communicated, and explained, everything perfectly and I will most definitely be back.

It to Lee and his crew less than 3 days to fix what Priority Hyundai couldn’t do in a week. I had consistent communication and a diagnostic done in a timely manner. No surprise charges and very professional personnel. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I will be bringing my car back here in the future. Why go to the dealership and wait forever?? Extremely professional and kind. Lee, the manager informed me my newly installed AC Compressor Kit from another auto shop was malfunctioning. Instead of trying to make a profit himself, he guided me in the right direction to contact the other auto shop to have the job done right again free of charge. I appreciate the honesty and I will certainly return to this shop for any future auto care needs.

I was referred to AAMCO by AAA, after looking at a few reviews I figured I’d go with this location because they seemed to have great reviews and Lee was awesome at explaining the initial process. It was towed to them for a no start issue, I now have my vehicle back running better then it was before the issue started. Very pleased with the work and Lee is fantastic!

Very friendly and professional service. Lee was up front and explained the work to be done. I would return here, if I needed any transmission work. They fixed the issue I was having and so far no relapses. Had struts put in and an acceleration problem which no longer exists. There is no waiting area available, (still under Covid restrictions) so your best bet is to drop off and get a ride.

A simple phone call tells me NOT to go here! Couldn’t even get a quote from this place. Just trying to get me to make an appointment for their free inspection.I just wanted to know what a transmission flush would cost. Just from one conversation I will never use this place or company.

Fyi governor of va lifted all covid restrictions. This place must have family members or friends writing fake reviews about it. I just went to take my car in for a AC diagnosis and was told by Lee that it would take hours and that I wouldn’t be able to wait inside. I told him I didn’t have a ride because I don’t have any friends or family here in Virginia and my only ride would be my boyfriend who would have to drive from Elizabeth city and could be there to pick me up but it would be about 45 minutes and I was still told no. I’m so sick and tired of businesses using COVID as an excuse to not allow customers in. ESPECIALLY when I’m completely alone…no one else is in there….and I’m young female. Any man that would allow a female to wait by herself on a busy highway around sketchy individuals and businesses is TRASH. I decided I didn’t feel comfortable having a person like that have any business from me. Will NEVER be back.

I my car needed a new clutch. AAMCO beat the dealers fee by about $200. They told me that the flywheel was not in need of repair, and they gave ma a AAA discount. The staff was and the waiting lobby was set up for COVID safety.

They told me my engine was no good and They could get me a used one and fix it and it would cost 5600 before taxes took my car somewhere else for a second diagnostic test and that was not they case!! It was something way more simple and cost less!!

Went their to find out about this rattling noise under my car, they did a brief 2-3 hours top inspection check everything brakes, fluids, etc, found out what was the cause, had it fixed the very same day they staff and service was wonderful!!!

Very good people, my Jeep was having trouble. Come to find out I needed a throttle body replacement. Price was a little bit high (not that bad) but Lee worked with me! I’m not from VA so I didn’t know what to expect. I’m very impressed with this location. Check them out!

They fixed my truck and were very honest. I took my tuck to another shop first and they said they needed to replace my entire transmission. I took it to aamco for a second opinion and they said it was just the solenoid. So aamco fixed the solenoid the very next day and now the truck is running as good as new. Thank you aamco for the excellent service. You have a customer for life now.

After finding out I couldnt get my transmission fixed at the dealership & another transmission place in Hampton not being able to do the work due to my car being a Hybrid, I desperately gave AAMCO in Norfolk a call. Very prompt and professional service from beginning to end. I scheduled an appointment and received a follow-up call the next morning. They sent a tow truck for my car immediately. I was updated throughout the diagnostic process. Everything was thoroughly explained including my options. I had to get a new transmission. My car is running great thus far!!!!! I am scheduled for a checkup at the end of May.

They were great! I had a bad experience with another mechanic, and they really were great, understanding, and kept apologizing for how the other shop treated me. Talking to me as a person rather than like I was a woman who did not know about vehicles. They were professional and very respectful.

I had a great conversation with the owner while I waited for my vehicle.An inspection and computer scan came complimentary with the transmission service. Price estimated on the phone was quite close to the actual charge. The guy at the counter was personable and efficient. My trucks interior was clean after the job was complete (no greasy hand/finger prints). Mechanic asked if I had any concerns (as I was inspecting the work in the parking lot). I was expecting them to charge me for and everything they did but they checked my car out and wrote down and explained what needs to be done at No Charge! They took my car for hours and hours and all I wanted was to get a new brake light put in they called me and said they wanted to do a full diagnostic because he “didn’t think” that the light bulb was the problem said he wanted to charge me 100$ an hour to just see what the problem was not including fixing it. I took my car to firestone and they replaced the bulbs in 20 mins for 30$ and it’s fully fixed now.THESE PEOPLE ARE SKETCHY!!!

One of the rare car care places were honesty and loyalty are reciprocated. Even when issues come up that fall outside of their scope, as with all their other work, they give you a thorough breakdown to send you in the right direction. Almost always my first stop to have things looked at.

At first glance, this place seems on the up and up. After speaking with the manager, Lee, for a little while, especially after you hear him speak to another customer, you will see that he is just a telemarketer type manager that does not listen, that has his prepared speak that he gives to his customers, and he is more focused on baiting customers into higher prices than truly taking care of them. When I voiced my concerns with his estimate on work, he wanted to share other peoples stories, as if that was going to make me happy with what he was telling me.First I was quoted $549 just to look at the transmission which would be rolled into the repairs if they found something wrong. The minimum would be $2800. Final value came out to just over $4k. Of course this did not include tax or a warranty that was worth the money because Lees computer screen doesnt tell him how much tax is. Trying to make things sound better than they were...Lee said they are military friendly and I asked him what sort of rate they would offer. Said he could tell me after they pulled the transmission. Should have been a flag. On the $4k tab, lee aid he would knock off $200 but would have to give me a shorter warranty. Guess he did not lie technically, but what an insult.When I told Lee that I will just pick up my car, he said That doesnt make any sense. Guess he thought he had roped me in with his rehearsed speech. With all of this said and done, not much concerned with the company. Just dont know enough about their quality. Figured they were decent based off of reviews. Lee however, misleads and redirects, very well I might add, in order to sucker customers into trusting his assessment of the unknown and scary world of the automatic transmission. Felt very used and for that reason, they will no longer receive my business. Asked Lee to speak to his supervisor. That never happened.

I dropped off my car to have my AC diagnosed as it was not blowing cold. Lee explained in detail what they would be doing to diagnose the problem. He called me not long after, the problem was quickly diagnosed, the AC repaired and I had my car back in one day. Super service, and I would highly recommend the Norfolk AAmco.

They were thorough and quick to diagnose my transmission issue. They even had my car repaired by then next day. The center manager, Lee Hornberger, personally called to to update me on my cars problem and status.

Untimely and a lot of guesswork. They even asked me to go on a road test with a technician, but I wasnt allowed to drive. Whats the point of such a request? Normally the owner would drive so they can show the tech the problem. Coming here was a waste of time.

Had a new transmission put in. Guys were great putting up with my talking. Been a few years and the trans is still going strong.

Very friendly and well informed. The time it took to get my truck over to them and back in my hands up and running was only 3 days!

Great customer care

I was experiencing erratic shifts with my vehicle and everyone kept telling me your transmission is going it needs to be replaced or rebuilt. Which I ended up going to the dealer and they said, yep your transmission needs to be replaced. The price they gave me was outrageous though. So I did what anyone else would do I started calling around and getting prices. Most places were giving me prices at least 500.00 cheaper then the dealer. Then I called Aamco and spoke to Lee and he suggested I bring it in first and do their courtesy check first before we condemn the transmission. Which he explained they would do for free, at first I was like no just give me a price! Then I thought what the heck its free. So I took my vehicle to have them check it out. Thank God I did because with their vehicle check they were able to figure out it wasnt my transmission at all, it was my alternator sending pulses through my electrical system messing with my solenoids. They saved me over 3000.00. They were also very professional and polite. I will, and have recommended them to everyone I know for all auto repairs because they arent just a transmission shop they do complete auto care.

I would like to say thank you to Lee for his patience and the hardworking staff of AAMCO. Thank you for hearing me out and working with me through the entire experience with Car Shield and all the loops you had to jump through with them. I know for the duration that AAMCO had my vehicle they have spent well over 10 hours trying to track down and communicate with the insurance company Car Shield. They followed every step, crossed every T and dotted every I. (Smile - Inside Joke) Through all the service calls and request that the insurance company requested they complied. They even had two inspector come out from the insurance agency requesting transmission teardown, ride alongs, and even service paperwork. Most places would have given up but not AAMCO, They hung in there with me and I truly appreciate Lees honesty and his candidness and allowing me to vent. Even when I was frustrated with the Insurance company he never bad mouthed them or warned me from them. He was completely professional in his demeanor and deliverance with every call. Thank you all again. If I ever run pass someone with vehicle issues, AAMCO will be the first place I refer to them

I purchased a transmission there about a year ago, and had issues with my car so I took it to the Chevy dealer, and they werent able to help me. I called Lee, and he was able to help me and the mechanics at the shop are very friendly. Definitely a friendly and professional environment. Shop was great, I was in one day and out the next. Mr Lee was very professional. I would recommend this shop to all.

Well, after reading all the good reviews ,I started to wonder where it all went bad. I took a 2013 Cadillac into there shop asking for a bid repair on Tuesday. They drove it twice second time with me in the front seat. The technician told me it was not the transmission but a possible wheel bearing. Two techs, used their stethoscopes to find out where the humming noise was coming from.Both determined it was coming from the differential. Most likely bearings they said. I figured how much can bearings cost 400-1,000.So here the story gets deep. They tell me that it will take $ 530 to find what bearings are bad and how much it will cost to repair. I asked how much is a new one they did not know. They said if they could get the parts it would be ready Friday afternoon. I said go ahead I need it fixed.The manager calls me the next day and says what we all do not want to hear. You want the good news or bad news first. I said I do not care let me have it. A new differential will costs $ 3,200 from the GM distributor plus installation. Than he said but I think we can get the bearings locally and have it ready as long as the gears are okay. That would cost between 1400- 1900 dollars. Than I thought I should replace the whole thing anyway. I said again go ahead they had it all taken apart anyway.So I went on line and looked up the price of a new differential 1200.00 delivered to my choice house or service area. I called the manger back and asked him if they would us original new GM parts. They will deliver in three days. He said we do not accept customer parts. I had to get it fixed know it was Friday. Bearings are not in town they will have to order. Be ready the next day. the next day came and the next day came and the next day came. You get my point. So the next disappointment came . Manager called and told me they did not receive the seals for the differential. Another day down. Next day is Thursday 8 days from the start. Get a call from the manger goods news your car is ready. It will be 1937.00 for the bearing repair. Signs all over the store saying they will keep in touch, I had to call them several times just to get a return call.To bad it is a very well known company with a good reputation. They need to stick to transmission work. There are still some bad places to do business. I hope AAMCO is not my only choice when I need another repair.

I brought my Volkswagen in and they took it out and test drove it came back and said it was the clutch. Everyone else said it would be five days but they did it in two. They installed a clutch kit and got me back on the road quick and easy plus they have very reasonable prices and kind and friendly service!

Had to replace two motor mounts and transmission flush. Great work done when they said it’s be done. But forgot to put the pin clips back in my wheel well and my tire was grabbing at it. If it were to be ripped off it could’ve caused an accident. So 4.0

Chris and his staff are the best! I have never been disappointed! They have always accommodated my crazy schedule, always find the problem when no one else can and everyone is so nice. I have had multiple instances when I have taken my vehicle to what I considered more conveniently located shops when something was wrong, i.e. transmission noise, bad water pump. I was told by others that they didnt know what was wrong but, when I took it to Chris they found the problem immediately! I now know to go straight to them! They always take such good care of me! I highly recommend them!!

I took my car to AAmaco on Military Highway in Norfolk Virginia for brake inspections was told I needed a brake caliper oil was leaking for it,my transmission oil was black and my transmission seal was wet and leaking the cost would have been over 600.00 I was skeptical about the price and the work that need to be done. I got a second opinion where I found that my transmission oil was not black they had loosen my brake fluid line nut where it was Dripping and the seal they were speaking on was not leaking they are not honest BEWARE. Problem was I did not have enough brake fluid in my car final cost $2.50.
