I have been coming to this store for past 7 years. I just recently purchased 2 bottles of wine.As Im walking home Im followed by 2 of there employees and being confronted in front of my apartment building in front of my neighbors of making sure that I didnt steal from them.I have decided to go back to the store and speak to a manager but I was told that the manager is not there.Instead I have been treated with rudeness and disrespec by the same people. Its not OK to harass people like that!!!!

A very impolite and rude guy served me. He was wearing an awful checked grey suit jacket and he was acting as the boss of the store. I asked for a cold bottle, they had a very bad and with little choice selection of withe wine already cold. I was not convinced and he get mad starting muttering something bad at me just because I was skeptical about the offer. At the end I didn’t buy anything and I won’t go back there.

When I tell you this is one of the best wine stores in the area--Its deceptively huge inside, despite the smaller store front. Theres always a bloke with a baseball bat ready to crack skulls if you try to run off with the merchandise. One of the managers--Im so sorry I forget his name, hes a bald white man--is incredibly helpful. He has always made fabulous recommendations based off my tastes and previous things I tried. They even have a whole shelf of just Sancerres. Really baffled by some of the negative reviews, this place is wonderful.

I saw they had a specific bottle of whiskey I was searching for listed for $320 on their website. Great! I went in person and they indeed had the bottles, with the sticker at the store listing them for $320. I chose two for purchase, went to pay and was told to wait a bit as they checked my credit card/ID. They rang me up and it was $1100. Wait...what? They then told me the price was over $500 a bottle. I pointed to the price they had listed one aisle over and they said sorry the price changed. When I protested that I could have simply ordered them online for $320 rather than this bait and switch, the employee rudely said Are you going to buy them or not? I did not. An hour later the store website had moved the price from $320 to $500+. Dont shop here, theyre looking to rip you off.Bonus info: I happened to be out on Long Island and found a store with the bottle I was searching for for *$200*. Thanks for saving me money, Garnet. But Im still never coming back.

I have been going there for 2 years until yesterday. I brought a picture of the wine they recommended previously. As usual I walked up to one of the men there who advised me many times, but this time he rudely told me that they do not carry it. I insisted politely because I knew I was there here a few weeks ago.His colleague came, it was the one who recommended that wine in a first place, so here starts again the antagonizing, this time the first man speaking to his colleague as if I was not there. And as if he knew better that they do not carry it because he had been working there for so many years. Suddenly he brought us to an alley and here was the wine, without as much as an apology he told his colleague I leave you with that.I told the colleague that I did not appreciate this kind of behavior and it is not ok to treat their clients like that. Nicely he told me that he hopes the bottle will help ease that feel. After that I kind of forced myself to buy this bottle but I felt so bad about it. Maybe if I was not a woman, if I was not French and if I was as rude as the first seller he would have treated me with respect. The colleague was just clueless I think and a bit shocked that someone who has worked here longer than he (as I was told by the first man) could behave that way. I always recommended that place for the wide selection they carry, no more. I am not even sure I will step foot again.

Garnet Wines & Liquors was a big disappointment. They approved my first online order and took money, then left a message a couple of days later saying they canceled my order due to out-of-stock. When I called to give my credit card info for refund, they were not helpful at all to order my replacement. The person who talked on the phone had no clue to satisfy customers. He was even rude. My impression from in-store experience was also a kind of cold, unfriendly atmosphere around people running this store. I will never use this store again. Instead, I highly recommend 67 Wine cross the Central Park. Their customer service was excellent.

When I got there ask for 3 bottles the guy who was helping me (skinny Indian looking man with glasses) ask if I wanna buy a fourth one for 15% off which I said no. When he Rang it up it came out to 311.47. he said that something was wrong the register. So a young lady rang me up and the total changed to 411.. I showed him that the website said 95.49 like he said over the phone and he said that was for the Hennessy master blender 3. And insist that I order online for a pick up. Never trusting this place ever. Pic would be posted of the price for the Hennessy

Absolutely, TERRIBLE customer service. There are two women who work here, who are respectful, but the men do not know how to speak to customers respectfully at all, especially women. My wifes assistant was calling to get information on a specific wine my wife wanted. I was sitting in the room during the call that was on the speaker. The, not so, gentleman was yelling at my wifes assistant even after she kindly asked him to please dont be impatient, I am trying to understand your site. He was belittling her and saying I dont know before she could even get her question out! This isnt the first time Ive heard of these boys disrespecting women...just the first time I have witnessed it. A friend of ours had called to ask for their buyers email address for their boss that makes wine and the boy was extremely disrespectful and hung up before she could even tell them who she was calling on their behalf. Our neighbor, who is quite well-known, had an issue where they did not even bother to deliver her wines for DAYS and she had to go pick them up herself even after paying. The manager didnt seem to care that she is a cancer patient and really shouldnt have been out, but since they wouldnt do a refund...she had no choice.THIS is why their ratings are so low on all of the review sites. I expected better, but since you cannot handle business properly, I will be sure to take our business elsewhere and notify others to do the same. Word to the not-so-wise, you never know with whom you are speaking too. That rude, arrogant boy just cost your business 11k in 10 minutes. I really love the selection here as well as the prices. The staff is great and they are always helpful. I buy 7-10 cases of decent booze (Brunello, Champagne, Sancerre etc.) from here every year (both store/online). The only piece of advice that I would give anyone shopping at the brick and mortar store is to be mindful of your receipt at the register and keep the guy (skinny with glasses) of Indian/Pakistani descent honest. He plays games with pricing (e.g. case discounts etc.). A few times I have had to ask him for the receipt and caught him not adding in the advertised percentage discounts. I am not sure why he does this as it is just really small and petty. I dont think his motivation is greed (I may be wrong). I honestly think he just feeds his ego by doing it. He is a cheesy used car salesman.

Ive never had more appalling service and will never deal with Garnet again. Theyve lost a customer of many years patronage and Mr Navin Patel, the owner, doesnt give a hoot. Read on to learn this saga of woe -- and be warned: based on my experience, do NOT rely on Garnet for timely, reliable, customer-centric service. Go instead to Astor Wines, Sherry Lehman or other reputable stores.I wanted to order for delivery as a present for a dinner party to which Id been invited on the following day, Saturday, two bottles of good wine Id selected at Garnet. I called Garnet on Friday and spoke to Freddy to understand (a) if the wine was in stock, and (b) when I could expect it to be delivered (given the Covid delays being experienced). Freddy informed me that the wine was in stock and that if I placed the order at 3.30pm on Friday (which I did online), the order would be delivered most likely early afternoon Saturday but no later than early evening at 5pm. On this basis I placed the order and requested delivery no later than 5pm Saturday. The dinner party was called for 7.30pm. My credit card was charged.I called my host at 5pm and was concerned to hear that the wine had not arrived.I called Garnet and no one picked up. On the third attempt, I got through to Adam. He found the order and informed me that it had not been processed by the Packing/Delivery Dept and would NOT be delivered. He refused to have one of his staff deliver the wine by cab to compensate for the snafu. I sent an email requested a refund on my credit card.I then spent $20 in cabs to visit a wine store that had the wine and purchased it in person.Today, on Sunday, Freddy called to say he was sorry and to explain that it was not his fault. The Delivery/Packing dept was responsible for processing the order when they came in on Saturday morning and didnt do so. He offered for me to speak to Mr Patel who was in the store. Mr Patel refused to talk to me stating, according to Freddy, that there was nothing that could be done and that certainly no reimbursement for my cab fares was possible. I found this to be totally disrespectful and arrogant. This is not the way to provide top customer service. All I got was excuses, a fob off from the owner, Mr Patel, who appeared completely lacking in empathy or concern for his customers well being.I understand that the pandemic causes logistical problems and short-staffed situations. But then why not state on the website that normal service cannot be guaranteed? And why, in my call on Friday, was I given an assurance by Freddy that the order would certainly be delivered?Garnet does not deserve patronage and is resting on its prior laurels.UPDATE: After posting this review, I received a call from Mahir, one of the managers. He apologized and offered me a discount next time I order at Garnet. At least that’s acknowledging the service lapse, which is a good thing. Might give Garnet a chance to redeem themselves. 😉

More New Yorkers have passed through here than hopped a subway turnstile and if you know the stats on that-- its a lot.Weve all been there: not wanting to put the effort in to get into a nice hotspot but still looking for a good time? The solution: spend some time perusing the several, plentiful and stocked to the brim aisles at Garnet Wines & Liquors and once you figure out what to drink, figure out where the night will take you. At least that has been my game plan with some sweet and not so sweet acquaintances.Go check it out, be sure to check out the specials or ask one of the many locals employed here whats great during your visit. The range in price and variety is wide and varied so everyone can find something within their budget. They host a number of events and often have samples. After 2 people led me to the wrong locations and in view of wine bottles with no prices, I asked the cashier (nicely) for a knowledgeable salesperson. The gentleman who helped me, showed me a shelf 5 feet off the ground so I couldnt identify the wines. When I asked what he recommended, he retorted I dont drink kosher wines. Nobody drinks kosher wines! Who drinks this stuff? I exploded with this is New York and this is a wine store. Plenty of Jewish people--your customers-- in NY drink kosher wines! I then bought my wine in a very pleasant wine shop down the street. No more Garnet for me!
