I have walked past too many times and have never ventured inside. I can’t wait to come back for some more. Everything I ate was very good, healthy and hearty. What kinds of deserts do you have there, it all looked so good.

Decent place for quick Indian grocery in the upper east side no doubt. They have a few groceries in case of emergency. The woman at the counter is very bad tempered and is not very courteous. The other people are very nice and courteous. She needs to improve her demeanor.

This Indian bodega is a true local gem of the UES! Award-winning chef Sohal crafts authentic Indian meals in their kitchen with fresh, organic ingredients creating her many signature dishes such as wonderful Parantha and spicy biryani. If you’re in a hurry for a curry, you will find a convenient selection of both fresh and pantry items on hand along with unique sweets treats and desserts to round off your meal.

This small shop tucked away in the corner of 87th and 1st avenue is every bit true to its name. The store is very well stocked for its size. Their Samosas are on point. They have fresh made Rotis and Parathas daily and a good variety of prepared foods (not the type of Indian food that gives you a heart attack but regular tasty food you can have everyday and not feel sick). They have most Indian grocery items from daals, spices, Indian sweets and other snacks; I even found Wagh Bakri Chai (I couldnt find that in Murray Hill).UES is known for its Jewish bakeries, ice-cream shops and German restaurants, but not its Indian joints (youd have to venture out to Murray hill for that). However, this place is a true gem. Im originally from Toronto, Canada and one thing I have always missed in NYC is a feel of an authentic family owned Indian store. I frequent this place on a regular basis now and every-time I enter it feels very comfortable. The store owner is a jovial larger than life type personality. You can often hear him in the background making jokes with customers and just plain old being jolly. His wife seems to be the backbone of the store. Interacting with either of them just lifts your spirits. Neighborhood authentic ethnic shops like this are what make NYC really special.

The food here is DELICIOUS and healthy!!! They use just the right amount of spices which makes the food very flavorful without being too hot/spicy. The UES desperately needed a place like this. We have been eating here 3-4 times a week since it opened and are big fans.

This was an amazing lunch spot! Came here for a quick bite and was able to sit outside with friends. We had the Aloo Tikki Sandwich, Paneer Biryani, and Chicken Meatballs over rice with a side of Samosas. All came with two types of flavorful chutney. For a drink I had the best Pomegranate Nectar, and there are plenty of soft drinks to choose from inside. The samosas were spiced perfectly and my sandwich was so good I would easily get it again. The vegetables and other ingredients were imported from India, so I heard, and I believe it based on the taste. Truly happy we stopped here. I definitely recommend the food and it’s also a great Indian grocery.

Run, dont walk to Punjabi Junction and protect it at all costs. The UES is truly unworthy of such a wonderful place. Theres that home-cooked flavor, like a warm and comforting hug, that not even restaurants can touch, which is rich in all of Punjabi Junctions offerings. Today, I got chicken curry, saag, and masaledar sem over rice, along with some snacks and a mango coconut drink. I hurried home and tucked in, eyes closed, with a big smile on my face. I will be back tomorrow (and probably the day after). A truly special place run by truly lovely people.DONT FORGET TO TIP!!!

We stopped by yesterday for some samosas and gulab jamun. The samosas were so, so good! The dough was crisp and flavorful, with spices throughout the dough and a delicious well-balanced filling. Easily some of the best samosas I’ve ever had. The gulab jamun were also exceptional; not too sweet, the flavors were well-balanced, and the dough was not rubbery like some others I’ve had. To round it off, the owner is super nice and the store is bright and clean. My family looks forward to returning!

We went here yesterday to pick up some samosa and chai and some groceries, and I remembered home after a long time. They have a good supply of indian groceries and food (akin to homecooked food, the samosa we had was not greasy) and the people that run the place are literally the best, so welcoming and warm and so, so, helpful with their suggestions. I’m definitely going back.
